Hello to everyone,

After a sunny morning there was a huge clap of thunder and then down came the rain. Finally got the washing dry.

Son and I had our ultrasounds and from the initial comments, all seems to be well. Thank you to everyone for your well wishes. <3 <3

Sheila glad you are enjoying your birthday. I did notice your facebook was gone and I wondered what happened. Set up another one and be very selective of who you have as friends. Have your settings very private too. Have you seen your doctor about your leg, might be time to go and get it checked.

Didn't want to go home after the tests, so we called in to have a cuppa and a laugh with my friend. Her dog spent the whole time on my knee eyeing off the biscuits. First time I had been there in nearly 12 months. It made a nice change.

It has got very cold here tonight, first time for the electric blanket and need to put my socks on.

Fiona glad you got a better sleep. My hubby used to snore, still does a bit. I had to go into the spare room and he really cracked it, lol. He lost a bit of weight and it improved.

Frank you found your peas and your keys, brilliant. Now don't lose your head.

On that note I will go and watch some tv. Hope the weather improves, have a good afternoon. 10.25 pm EST

FRANK MORE EXPENSE TO PAY < my eye perscription has deteriated twice since I last had a eye test 2 years ago.
So it's new glasses ,what a lot of money mind you at least you get the test free, mine are a bit more expensive because I have transitions, great for reading outside in the sun.

Afternoon All,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sheila......how nice that your daughter Jess will be sharing it with you.

Silly me! Yes, you are quite right William, my 'memory marbles' aren't what they were......it was Philip Davis that played Mr Smallweed! Another excellent actor, although looking him up I hadn't realised he had also played in Lark Rise. He and Timothy Spall are both very good character actors.

Mel, there is an Ivy Hurn born 1914 whose mother's maiden name was 'Smallweed' unless it was wrongly transcribed. I imagine a lot of variations were adopted over time if the originals were not liked.

Off into the garden now......the waterfall is progressing.......but slowly! I am also building up a raised slate platform on the corner of a flowerbed so I can gawp over the fence into the field and see the wildlife!!

I wonder if SOMEONE has been planting PEAS!!! lol :-D :-D How lovely to be offered those holidays Frank........Torquay will be great. I remember lovely gardens there years ago.

More breaks away eh Frank!! Don't they call Torquay the English Riviera?.Lovely :-D :-D :-D

I need to get new glasses for close up Fiona.Mine aren't that old but I just find them uncomfortable and too heavy :-S :-S

Ann ,I can just see you perched on top of your slate platform like a Pixie lol :-D Chatting away to the cows etc.

Thanks Mel, you cracked it. I was nearly right when I said Davies! He's one of those actors I can also picture his face but can never remember his name. (Sounds like half the people I know. I've always been cr*p with names.

Frank, fancy coming to our house and looking for some peas? I lost my spare car keys a few weeks ago and still haven't found them! We are going through a 'losing things' patch here. Hope it won't be a winning lottery ticket.

Jane Report 24 Apr 2012 17:49

William ,I am always looking for my specs .Nine times out of ten they are on the top of my head :-S :-S.Sometimes there are two pairs up there.

Ah my Earless wonder has just appeared to feed on the coconut fat. :-D :-D
It looks a lot thinner than it did the other day.So maybe it has had babies like Mel thought.

What a lovely evening out there, brilliant sunshine, but not sure how warm it is, I haven't been out.

Good news for Kim and Son. Thank goodness. I'm sure she has enough the cope with, and all this bad weather, most unusual isn't it KIM ????

William I think it's got something to do with AGE. I can remember what I was doing 60 years ago, but can't remember what I did last week !!!!

Birthday nearly over for Shelia, Did you go out for a meal with the family ???

Yes Jane, You are right. about Torquay. I nearly bought a Post Office business in Painton in the 70s The property was a lock up, and house prices were very high but very nice, with sea views etc. anfd we couldn't afford the difference. I am certainly looking forward to the time there.,around the Harbour and beaches.

Out again tonight. Chelsea V Barcellona. I am having a lot of freedom lately.

See you later

Jane Report 24 Apr 2012 18:04

You should be in your shorts now Frank .It's still quite warm out there :-D.I must remember to get the washing in.
Just think of all the lovely Palm Trees and the Promenade in Torquay .It'll be Fab(as long as the sun is shining) :-D :-D :-D

Going back to superstitions.Whenever it Thundered and Lightening my Nana used to cover all the mirrors.
If I pulled a face ,would be told if the wind changed I would stay like it.
If I ate paper I would get worms.
I did have worms once ,but can't remember eating paper lolol

What a lovely day here too, just got better and better. I did a bit of weeding too (bits OH missed.....but daren't say as he'll only say they WEREN'T THERE when he did it!! lol) I didn't want to overdo it with THE BACK today. OH saw the fox again in the field and right near our fence!! He has done everything I've asked him to today, without any delays so he forgets, laid more slabs.......well he wanted to go to another match tonight.....knew he was pushing his luck a bit......like Frank!!!

Fiona, specs cost a fortune these days. I think my last ones were over £300 with prescription sunglasses thrown in.. I remember when I was at work, the Asian chaps would go off to India on holiday and come back with new varifocal specs with ultralight lenses, scratch coatings, reactolight etc for £30!!! They would get new, made to measure suits, made up in a day for the same price too!!

Kim, glad to hear the tests went well, nice to have a catch up with friends .

I need new glasses too Fiona, i was looking at the glasses in Tes*o's ,has any one had any from there ? just wondered what they were like !!

Ann, i can just see you perched on the slate platform :-D is it the field where they are going to build ? might be a bit more than wildlife to watch ;-) ;-)

Pat , you've had a busy day ,how did you find time to go to work ? :-)

Maureen ,the wedding is creeping up ,less than two months to go,i carn't believe Harry's nearly one !!

Not warm here :-S i've had the heating on since lunch time !!
It only stopped raining about an hour ago, still the Poppies or Weeds are getting bigger with all the rain !!

We had to ring the insurance company today ,they sent us two letters to thank us for letting them now about changes to the policies for the house contents and building insurance !! WHAT CHANGES!!
We haven't informed them of any changes , and the chap i spoke to couldn't see any amendments to the policy either ,very strange !!

I've felt very weary today , the last two nights i haven't slept very well, keep waking up, one minute i'am hot then i feel chilly ,i hate nights like that :-S

Jane

Jane Report 24 Apr 2012 21:00

Mandy my specs are from Tes**.I found Tes** fine.It was my bad choice of frame shape that I am having trouble with. The lenses are too thick and heavy for the size of the frame which makes them too heavy on my poor nose, and leaves deep grooves :-S.The only thing with Tesc* here is there isn't a huge choice of frames.

The sky is as black as your hat here.Right over the house.I tried to get Chester out for a wee just now just in case it tips it down, but he wasn't interested. He might have to keep his legs crossed :-S :-S :-S.It looks really stormy!!!!

I'm just going to get my dose of Culture with Meet the Romans on BBC 2

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 24 Apr 2012 21:18

I might give Tesc*'s glasses a try , there seemed a good choice when i looked the other day ,the glasses i have now need tightening up i think ,they keep sliding down my nose , its when i get hot they slide down , they are the bifocal ones ,the other pair i have are just for reading and they are a better fit .

Watching Trevor Mcdonald Mighty Mississippi its the last one tonight .

Will say Night Night now ,hope i have a better nights sleep tonight .

Greetings,

It has been a sunny ANZAC Day here, a bit cooler though. Keith taped the march for me, so I must look out for my dad's squadron.

Ann no thank goodness, the dog is a little mini-foxie/jack russell white and tan. Such a cute dog, but very excitable. You know how they can be when they are sitting on a beautiful woman's lap, LOOOOL.

So you think your little squirrel has had babies Jane? How wonderful or she's had a bad attack of the trots. :-S Where does she/he live?

Frank the weather has been odd with all this rain, but normalising now with the cooler temps. Got me throught the summer as the heat knocks me around.

Hope you enjoyed your birthday Sheila. Did the family take you out for dinner?

A few dramas (yes, more) happening here. Will talk a bit more when I find out what exactly is happening. And on it goes :-S :-S :-S

Have a good day (hopefully sunny weather) and all those sniffles, aches and pains are easing.

Hope to BBL. 5.20 pm EST

Having trouble again getting to the last page.

WET WET WET here today. I think it has been raining since last night non stop nearly. It is so dull here and oh is glad he got the roofing sheet on yesterday. He also planked the front and a couple of boards down the side but htere is no way he can get on today as the water is streaming off the roof where he would have to work.

Ann thanks for the lovely pics of the wrap rings. Love the mauve one, well like them both as they are quite different.

Worked in the tunnel yesterday. The mouse had dug up my seed potatoes now having finished a wide line of peas so the bait box went up there yesterday I am afraid. I also caught one in a bucket of water, it got in and could'nt get out, drowned so that is one down but how many to go???????? :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-|

Had a strange dream laast night about the central heating being turned off but I was'nt in this house, it was an old building and there were children there who stole my dollshouse figures by putting them in their knickers. I told their older sister and explained that they were very very expensive, over a £25 each and there were about six of them. When they had gone the figures were all gone from my bedroom.
