Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Mar 2012 10:24

Morning All,

Dry day again here and oh is out on the grass mowing.

Poor Fitz Jane please give him my wishes when you go tonight and be carefull with that gentle hug. Maybe better to just hold his hand. Mums brother had to have a kidney out because of cancer and it took a long while for him to recover but he is fine now and that was some years ago now.

Mandy the ppics of your new cottages are great and only £2 each, what a bargain.

Ann hope you feel up to your trip out today after a hectic day yesterday. I too had a siren suit in red when I was small. I can remember the fight it was to get it on and off too but I was not school age when I had to wear it. I can remember standing in the back of dads car behind his seat. Don't know where mum was but I wet myself so must have been very young. mum was cross with dad when she got back to the car and it was an awful feeling being wet and having to have the thing pulled off me when we got home.

I too had easter eggs with iced flowers on. I even made miniture ones for my dolls houses and still have them. Also had eggs made out of sugar with a hole in the end and when you looked in the hole there was a scene inside of three d figures and trees in a landscape. Very old fashioned. The eggs were white and had that pink shell icing round the joins. I did see something like them once when I lived in Suffolk in a very good sweet shop we had in Sudbury. They were much smaller than the ones from my childhood, but I did buy one just out of interest.

Evening Kim ,Morning Fiona and all

Kim wouldn't it be great if your OH's dream came true(not sure about the being sent out to work though) lol.
Thank goodness your daughter wasn't hurt more by that thug. Was there a reason why he did that? I wish her well in her exams.

Fiona,I bet your MIL will soon be able to go back into her own house.Once she gets her strength back and confidence.

Just spoke to Janice and she is off to the hospital at 11.30.Hopefully I might be able to speak to her this evening.
I wonder how Fitz is this morning.Hopefully he will have slept most of the night as he would have still been full of anaesthetic.

It is another nice day,but doesn't feel quite so warm as yesterday.More towels to go out on the line.
I think I will do Spag Bol today .Then when I get home this evening from visiting Fitz it will just need to reheated and the spaghetti cooked. But first I need mince so I'm off to Tes* now.

Kim you must have popped in while I was typing! Lovely to hear your ok at the moment as we do worry so when we don't hear from you. Sending love and wishes. <3 <3 <3

I think Jane was talking about a chocolate egg with iced flowers on one side.

Wishes too for our Janice today and hope everything goes better for her today. Such a worry when you can't get about properly but for someone as active as Janice it must be sooooo frustrating.

Morning one and all,

Had a surprise this morning. I was up and about by 7.30 am Had my usual two cups of tea. I then decided to have my KIPPER. That was about 9.00am. While sitting on the chair with a tray on my lap, covered in kipper "Fingers" the door bell rang.

It was Mike from BEN the benevolent fund people who looked after me when I had my stroke. He calls every six months to see if we need any help with anything.

Yor can imagine the panic I was in. I dumped the tray in the kitchen, made him a coffee and got a quick wash and got dressed. Ros came out in her dressing gown, wondering who it was. He had rang her on Monday to say he was coming, We had forgot :-0 :-0 :-0

Another great morning here, lawns very wet from the DEW.

Trust Fitz had a good night. and is more comfortable this morning.

Kim,I bet you would like Ohs dream to come true, you would be on cloud 9 lol

I am going to gets some shorts on now and do a bit more in the garden.

See you later.

I am done for the day.!!!!

Put new hinges on shed door. cut back lawn, collect loads of rubbish off the pond (duck weed) didn't get killed off by any frostsTaken the waterfall away from the pond and pressure washed it. Now in the sun drying and hopefully will kill any moss thats left.. Planted more potatos in sacks. Got peas in soak, ready for putting in over the weekend.

Ros has been weeding the stone chippingsl at the bottom of the garden. picking out pansy's and planting them in tubs. She's had a real good clean up. Patients of a SAINT. I could no more sit there ,than fly the moon. I will now be able to put weedkiller down on the stones. Might need to get a TON of chippings, to cover up all the dirt that was left by the chickens.

Have got HOCK and peas for dinner tonight. The hock is boiling now and mushy peas are in soak. Potatos done ready to go on later.

I can now sit down for a while, before jumping in the shower.

Hi Everyone,

Looks like everyone has been busy today,

It's been lovely today, quite sunny & plesantly warm out of the cool wind, daughter no 1 & Sofia came and picked me up after playgroup & we went to the park had a picnic by the loch, fed the ducks and played in the swing park for a while, then went to visit daughter no 2 at work, she was not busy so had time to chat, daughter no 1 bought Sofia a light green jacket for the spring and I bought her a pair of sunglasses, because I was wearing mine, only cost a £1 in Pr*mark, I expect they will get lost or broken over the weekend :-) lol,

JANE , I hope you & Fitz enjoy visiting time, I hope he has better luck with the hospital food when he is up to eating, The food was awful when my MIL was in hospital, her ward was right above the kitchen/dinning room the smell of uncooked or left over food used to waffed into the wards at meal times or even through the AC vents ( Horrible) :-| :-|, no wonder she was never tempted to eat.

Time for a cold drink, I think thre's a carton of Apple juice somewhere in the fridge, hope no one else in the family has finished it off yet.

Evening All,

What a lovely sunny day it has been! We ruled out going to the NEC in the end as I decided I would rather spend the £22 it would cost to go in on buying beads instead!! We decided to be lazy and have a carvery lunch and then on impulse went for a nice countryside drive to Market Harborough to go and see the Hallaton Hoard at the museum there. I nearly went when I met up with Jane and Fitz, but wasn't sure they had the star attraction there at that point which is a 2000 year old Roman Helmet with engravings on it, pictures of horses etc. Originally it was gold and silver but just looks a dark colour now. Some of the coins that were in the hoard were so small, smaller than our 5p pieces. There were also some Liberty Bodices on display as they were all made at a local factory. I had to smile at the old advertising blurb which said they were 'ideal for romping in!!!' There was a local rubber factory too that made rubber buttons, so that is probably where the rubber buttons they had came from. Then we sat in the sun at the Courtyard cafe and had a latte before coming home. Pity that dog was outside barking again for 2 more hours though. :-S

I hope Jane finds Fitz in less pain today. He must feel a bit sorry for himself by now. I'm sure he will be very pleased to see her, time can drag in hospital.
Janice's knee should be freer now too, but I bet that will mean more soreness for a while.

It is good your MIL is out of hospital now Fiona. I don't think it would have helped my appetite having the stale kitchen smells wafting in either!!

Kim, it is nice to have those positive thoughts, but I think I would draw the line at going to work!! Still, I know it would be nice to know you 'could' if you wanted to. What a nasty scary experience for your daughter.........I would keep my eyes open for that chap for a while if I were her in case he hangs about.

Frank, you have been busy again, got your shorts on too.......it will be bare chested next!!!! lol

I had a strange dream last night.........about writing a poem of all things and I couldn't think what to write!!! This is the bit of it I remember...........

I want to write a poem
The words are in my head
I must write at least four lines
Before I go to bed.

Gawd knows what an expert would make of me.......best not to know!:-0

Well i have been and just got home.I was pleased and surprised to see how well Fitz seemed. He had grueling 6 hours in surgery and then 3 hours in Recovery.I think he will be exhausted now as he seemed to have verbal diarrhea LOL.His nurse calls him Kenny(as he is a bit of a Kenny Rogers lookalike) :-D :-D.Many people have said that before. He isn't eating anything yet as he still feels a bit sick, but he did enjoy the frozen drink I took him.
I probably won't visit again until Monday as his boys will be here over the weekend and also his Mother will have to be taken in to see him.

No news from Janice.I doubt she will be up to calling tonight,so I expect I will speak to her tomorrow.I really hope things go right for her this time.

Now I had better get some food on the go.I t won't take long.

Fitz said to say thanks to you all for thinking of him.Maybe when he is well I might persuade him to post a little message.

Annx Report 22 Mar 2012 20:14

Thanks for letting us know Jane. I'm glad he was in good spirits and after anaesthetic for that length of time it is not surprising he doesn't feel like food yet. At first it is just nice to be able to moisten your mouth....the iced drink was a good idea. Have they said how long before he should be discharged yet or is it too soon to tell?

Jane

Jane Report 22 Mar 2012 20:23

It won't be until next week Ann .Maybe tuesday, but he really doesn't know.He was hoping to be out on Monday as it is Georgettes Birthday, but I think that is very unlikely.

Just spoke to Larry (my BIL) Janice has just come out from recovery and is the observation unit. She didn't go down until 6.30.But she is fine .It 's like emergency ward 10 here lolol
Sounds like you had a nice day in Market Harborough today.Love the 'Romping about ' :-D

I think it is just about time to eat now.I'm blooming starving :-S

Ann,I read your posting about asylums.

My wife Ellen was a nurse for over 40 years.
She worked at Sandersons Orthopedic Hospital then transferred her service to St Nicholas Hospital Newcastle.

St Nicholas Hospital was a hopital for the mentally ill.
Parts of it are secure, holding patients who have been in prison.

For years Ellen had a large old iron key that locked / unlocked every ward in the hospital.

Then all the locks were changed to the modern Yale type.

On the key it read City Asylum

Hi all,

Seems to have been a long day today , it was a lovely service and BIL's grandson gave an amazing tribute to his grandfather ,or Pop as he called him ,i think he would have been so proud of him today .

Glad to hear that Fitz is cheerful after his op and that Janice is fine too.

Early night for us so will say Night Night .

Oh Jane you have had a busy day reporting on all the hospital patients.

I am so glad that Fitz was feeling a bit better today, lets hope he makes a speedy recovery.

And Janice hope she has her knee working better after her new op. You must report on her after you have spoken to her please.

Give them both my love and wishes.

Did a quick chicken casserole tonight with mushrooms carrots courgette brocolli and a mushroom soup. Gave oh rice and I had a bit of mash let over from the other day.

Oh rolled the lawns today after cutting the back lawn on the side of the bungalow. I weeded more of the border and we had a cold wind today but it rained later and then the wind dropped.
