Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Mar 2012 10:38

Morning and the sun is out today.

The sun has got it's hat on,

Hip hip hip hooray,

The sun has got it's hat on and it's coming round to play!!!!

It is always so good to see the sun when you have had a horrid day the day before and after the gloomy days of winter, when Spring is in the air.

Oh out ringing for church. Little old man cockrel spent all day yesterday in his box and did'nt eat a thing. I thought he was dead last night but when I touched him he opened his eyes. Same this morning but he did'nt open his eyes but his feathers moved so he is still alive. I was'nt expecting to last the night but he dos'nt seem to want to die. He is all tucked up in loads of kitchen paper with a lamp over him. When you touch him he is lovely and warm. Perhaps I have cooked him!!!!

Morning Mel and all

Poor little old man.he sounds very comfy Mel ,bless him.He isn't in pain is he? I hope not.

The sun has it's hat on here today too .It is lovely.Garden day I think. But I am still in my nightie and need to muster up some oomph.I ache so much from yesterday.I can't remember how many times we crossed the Thames ,and so many blooming steps to go up and down each time lol.
We sat on the terrace at Somerset House for Hannah to have her presents.Yes ,she was very happy with everything.I didn't ask what John gave her.I must remember to find out.
We had lunch at Gordons Wine Bar.What a place. It is underground, and light by candlelight.Water dripping from the roof.I haven't been anywhere quite like that before. It was great, but the staff could do with a lesson or 2 in looking happy and being a bit more friendly towards customers.
I will send a pic of the place in a minute.

Roast Lamb today....sometime today.....maybe even this evening....who knows :-D :-D

Poor little man Mel, but if its his time to go what a way to go all tucked up cosy and warm .

Jane, what a place that Wine Bar , i don't think i could be in there ,a bit too low ceiling for me !!
Glad you all enjoyed the day ,and that Hannah is happy .
I can see what you will be doing today , getting stuck into the book :-D i've got a few Famous five in the cupboard some where.

Where's our Frank today ? you got a thick head Frank ?? :-D :-D

Mandy that wine bar was great, but I think there were a lot of bumped heads lol.It took a while to see properly in there but once your eyes adjusted to just the candle light it was ok.
I have a chicken in the oven ,but that is to have cold for lunches/sandwiches.
The Lamb will go in later.
I have just had a root through the bag of summer clothes to find something with no sleeves (phew it is really warm).I'm glad it wasn't as warm as this in London .It was already too warm.Even Hannah was feeling it and she normally stays cool.
I thought you might be off to the coast today!

Yes where is Frank? I hope they all had a great evening.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 11 Mar 2012 15:26

It's really warm here too, have just sat out and had a cuppa .

No ,no coast trip today ,bet there's loads of people about as its a lovely day and hubby wanted to get the slabs finished , he's having a few days off later in the week as the job he's been on will be finished on Tuesday .
One day we're off out for a lunch some where so might do the coast then , also there's less people about at the coast in the week , plus..... the shops are open :-D :-D :-D :-D

Better get the chicken in the oven .

Where is everyone today?.Enjoying the sun I think :-D Chris has just cut the lawn for the first time this year.Mower going off next week for it's yearly MOT.
The birds are singing their hearts out and it just feels like a summers day.
I took a bottle of wine to my neighbours who looked after Chester yesterday and Norma was in her shorts and sleeveless top.She is 70 and looks 60.
Something was kicking off with the Chickens next door earlier. The squawking and squealing went on for absolutely ages.It was horrible to hear.I don't know what caused that.
Poor Chris thought we were going to have dinner soon.He obviously didn't hear me when I said it wouldn't be until early evening. So he has got himself a pear and a big lump of cheese :-S

Frank Report 11 Mar 2012 17:46

Afternoon to all and sundrie,

Haven't been around, as I have been working all day in the garden and cooking dinner. Have just sat down, first time since 10.00 am.

Finished off the digging, layed a new edging board to the veg. patch. raked all the surface. Baged up three bags of potato's Early "COMET" shoots were everywhere, so they should be off to a good start. Put a row of "FUR APPLE" in by the fence. Never got round to the lawns today, so perhaps tomorrow.

There were 18 of us last night. Very dissapointed with the seating arrangements. THREE ROUND TABLES. joined (well touching) each other. So part of the table was unusable. Six to each table, so nowhere to put glass's bottles etc. The had one of these spinning things on the table, absoluetly packed with dishes of food. We didn't have plates. Just tiny little bowles, the time you got some rice in them there was no room for anything else. The service was something else that needs addressing. You had to wave your arms around to try top attract anyone. The place was so busy I don't think they had enough staff on duty. But all in all the evening went very well, and Jan was thrilled to bits, to see so many people, including her younger sister from Torquay, with her husband. Old friends that she hasen't seen for years.

Jane, I couldn't believe how they have changed the area. All that new front to Horse Market. That use to be a car park.

Mel, I hope little old Cockerel pulled through again over night. It might well be you have started to ROAST HIM before the poor old bugger is even dead :-D :-D :-D :-D

Glad your day went well Jane, I bet Hannah was on Tenter hooks, wondering if you and Chris were going to get along with the new boyfriend.

Time for a cup of tea.

Have been in shorts all day girls, and bear chested. Now will see if I have caught a chill :-( :-( :-( :-(

Afternoon All,

Glad it all went well yesterday Jane. The wine bar would be a bit claustrophobic for me I think, but it is certainly different!! I googled and see that Samuel Pepys lived in the building in the 1680s. The bar must be the cellar?

Gorgeous spring day here too! All the daffs are in flower, makes you feel good and want to get on with things.

Little old man sounds nice and comfy Mel which is the main thing. At least he is warm and safe in his box.

My computer is still playing up, slow to change screens and the cursor seems to have developed a mind of it's own!! :-S It keeps vanishing, yet if you type where you think you have clicked it the text you type appears in the right place even if the cursor hasn't disappeared but is somewhere else in the text......most weird! I hope they soon do another update that fixes it. :-|

I always wait till weekdays to go where the shops are busy Mandy, it is so much easier and less hassle then. The seaside is always better when it is less crowded as you say.......less queuing for those delicious seaside F&C and those lovely icecreams!!! :-D :-D

I have discovered something wonderful for my FH on An*estry.......the parish records, just for one or two counties at the moment it seems, have the actual parish records documents on line now!! Actual Baptism and Marriage certs and the Burials books too!! I have found lots of interesting things already as the pre census marriage certs have fathers and their occupations on the certs. Also you can see which rellies could write or not on the old marriage certs and where they lived at the time. Easy to find extra children in some families that were born and died between censuses, sometimes only a few weeks old. I hope they put other counties on soon as well!! :-D :-D

Evening All

Thanks for your pic Jane of the cave where you had your lunch, we have something similar back near to where I come from in Sunderland, a place called Marsden Grotto it is a resturant built into the rock face and you have to get to it by a lift that goes down the side of the rock, also there a tiny set of steps cut into the rock that lead down to the beach, but don't look safe so we always use the lift.

Not good news today from MIL she woke up at 3.00am and in terrible pain so much that the nurse had to give her morphine to cope with it,
We really don't know whats going to happen untill she see's the doctor tomorrow, we are concerned that if this pain continues as bad as it is at the moment , how will she cope living on her own ?

Daughter no 1 and Sofia came down to stay last night and Sofia slept better than we expected, daughter said she tossed about alot but didn't cry out.
We left daughter in bed and went and did the shopping and Sofia had a great time helping by putting things in the trolly.
then came back and put the shopping away and went out to the garden centre for lunch and then to the petting Zoo where Sofia could see the chickens and ducks, ponies and pigs and she could pet the rabbits, spent another 1/2 hour at the swing park as the weather was still nice, but around 3pm it started to get cold & windy so we made our way home,

Daughter's no1 & 2& Sofia left at 8pm tonight, so we can finely relax, it's very tiring haveing to keep Sofia amused all day, Going to watch tv for a while then off to bed with my book so I will say goodnight

Hi been out in the garden and up the tunnel today. Worn out now.

Cleared all the dead stuff out the tunnel and took all the canes out the ground. Now I only have to sweep it all out and then disinfect it all and start digging.

Did quite a bit more of the border and am at least half way through now.

Thanks for the pic Jane and I am glad you had a lovely time even though it was exhausting.

I am sorry to say that Little Old Man died today while I was up the garden I think as I looked at him after lunch and he was still alive then. When we came in about 6.30 pm he was still laying in the same position but his little legs were stretched out behind him.

Annx Report 11 Mar 2012 22:08

What a shame Mel. Still, you kept him comfy and warm and he had a good life with you and got to be an old bird!! You can't have many 'boys' left now I would think.

It sounds like you are getting on really well in the garden and tunnel. You and Frank are making me feel tired!! lol We got some compost today so tomorrow I will see if I can split the plants in my yellow pot and plant up the new matching pot with them. I just hope the pretty variegated grass in it is still alive as all I can see is what has died off!!

Off to bed now, still feel a bit achey after shifting stuff back in the loft. Night, night xxxxx.....zzzzzz.

Hello everyone,

Another sunny, cloudy day here. All over the place. Everything needs pruning and I just don't have the energy. OH had x-rays today for his back and sees the physio tomorrow. The cold packs seem to help and he had an easier night sleepwise.

Mel so sorry you lost your little man. You have a wonderful way with animals and look after them so lovingly.

Fiona your poor MIL. It is a worry as to what happens next. I hope they can get her pain under control.

I have been doing some work on my tree, very confusing when people add to their names and take on siblings' christian names when they have passed away. The monk's family are turning out to be a strange lot, but all very musically talented. It has all been passed down from my First Fleeter. I am related to one of Australia's mining magnates, but I don't think he would be very benevolent if I contacted him out of the blue, lol. I saw in the social pages his son has just married - a million dollar event on the harbour!!!!

Jane glad you had a good day in London and Hannah enjoyed her birthday and presents. It must nice to see her happy with John. A happy Chester I expect when you got home. My black cat gets the funnies with me when I leave her for the day to go to the doctor's. They should be so lucky to have someone at home with them 99% of the time.

Ann this computer is playing up too, switching itself off and strange messages coming up. Probably time for a service again. :-S

Off to watch the news. Have a good day everyone. 6.31 pm DST

Evening Kim

First on this morning.
Expecting Engineer between 10-12 this morning to see to my tumble dryer, a voice on the phone said it sounded like a common complaint that all these types of Hoo*ver condenser tumbledryers have , we have only had it since the beginning of February, so it's still under gaurentee.

Daughter no 2 off for another interveiw in Glasgow this morning, nothing to do with her 6 years at colledge or uni training but as she says you can't be too choosy these days , there's just no jobs.
This ones to work in a Museum shop, she will have to sell crafts etc, do infintries on supplies and orders, she enjoys working with the public, and it's a really good wage,
She is still waiting to hear if she has got the job in the fashion wholesale place also in Glasgow. keeping fingers crossed it's one or the other.

So sorry to hear about the little old cockerel Mel, Do you have others, or will you replace him.

Fiona, It seems wherever you look around the Country, It's the same story regarding employment for the youngsters. And the Government want older people to work longer !!!!

Jane, Where exactly was that cellar. I would imagine somewhere by the Thames. Round by the Wine vaults. !!!!

I am in my "WORK CLOTHS" waiting for the sun to come through, so I can get back in the garden for a bit more work.
