Mel ,is it another lie in tomorrow, being waited on with breakfast in bed? :-D
Hope my card arrives in time .I thought I posted it on Saturday with other things ,but found it yesterday morning on the desk,so it didn't go until this morning.

Oh Frank , you poor old thing , sounds more like the flu if you ache all over , beds the best place and have plenty of fluids ( no, not the sort that comes in a pint glass :-D :-D :-D) hope you feel better soon.

You might find the freezer works once you get rid of the ice Jane, that was the trouble with DIL's parents freezer .
I have a plastic wallet with all the instruction books in, i must sort it out as i'am sure some of the things we don't even have any more!!

That's the worst bit having to put the shopping away , you carn't beat a nice cup of char when you get home .

DIL has her scan this week ,we should then know the sex of the baby , then i can get some wool for the baby shawl .

Still got a little rain coming down , but then i'd rather have that than the snow ,winds got up too.

Mandy ,I have loads of instruction booklets for all sorts of things that I no longer have .Just not the Freezer one :-S
How exciting ,to know the sex of your next Grandchild .We will all be on tender hooks here :-D

It is exciting ,son would like another boy as he says he's getting out numbered by the girls ,and Jake said he'd like a brother ,and not another sister LOL

Toby's standing here by my chair he keeps groaning as he wants his power chew filled with some of his biscuits !! when i tell him in a minute he groans and goes and sulks by laying down and putting his head under the chair LOL

Hi All, late today I know. Sorry to hear your feeling under the weather Frank, hope you feel better real soon, take it easy. I've not felt 100% myself today, but I put it down to the weather and not getting out much. Frank, I think we ought to start a Great Grandfathers Club in this thread, congratulations in advance of the coming event.

Big Bad Black moggy has kept out of the way today as there has been a domestic going on here. Yes, you've guessed it, the wood pigeons are kicking up because they can't get on the bird table due to all my eleborate anti BBBM defences. I was at the sink washing up this morning when I heard this tapping on the window and there was this wood pigeon on the outside sill looking daggers at me and pointing to the bird table with his beak. I just shrugged my shoulders, but then two of his mates landed too and threatened to poo all over the sill unless I took some immediate action. Well, it's bad enough suffering cat poo so I knew I didn't want to add bird lime to my existing problems. So I went out and and cleared away some of the barbed wire and erected a shute on the bird table roof so they could slide down and have their breakfast. They sat on the pyracantha and watched me and sort of shook their heads (and their backsides) as if to say "Don't do that again mate - or else!!!" What next I ask?

Well, I enjoyed Midwifes last night, but is it me or is it getting a bit mushy and deep? Ah well, I guess even midwives have to be human, but why none of the local young men don't make a pass at the bubbly little blonde one I don't know. Was that in the days before Specsa*ers?
I wonder if I'm the only one why could well live without awards programmes? My wife (her name's Carmel by the way) loves them all, I suppose that's because she did ushering in both cinemas and theatre in the past. I'm always saying to people, she used to be in the movie business - or show business! I sat doodling all through three hours of it last night. You get a couple of seconds of each clip, there are numerous people you've never heard of - and the cameras try and capture every celebrity you've ever known, and a lot more you've never even heard of. Moan over, just tell me to shut up if you disagree with me.

We may poke our head out tomorrow and do a bit of shopping. It was that sort of cold damp penetrating wind today so I didn't stay outdoors too long, just long enough to sort the pigeons out. Even when the sun put in an appearance the temperature didn't go up.

Anyway, off to do other things now. If I'm not back later, all have a pleasant evening and catch up with you tomorrow.

I get the same look and groans from Chester lol when I say "in a minute".They are funny aren't they.

Valentines Day tomorrow. Not a particular happy day for me as Mum died 7 years ago.I had been down to Plymouth with Hannah and my Sister to visit Mum in Hospital for a couple of days.We left at mid-day to travel home.I dropped my Sister off in Cheltenham ,then dropped Hannah off at hers, after a nearly 7 hour journey.I just got through my front door and could see flowers and a balloon in the lounge, but was just given a big hug by Chris to say he had just had a call from the hospital to say Mum had passed away :-( :-(
It was a shock and terribly sad ,but also a relief as it was time for Mum to go.
On a lighter note,Hannah said she has her volunteer night tomorrow with people with HIV.She said the topic tomorrow is Sexual Dysfunction. Her exact words were "Sheesh, you would have thought they could have had a lighter subject ,especially on Valentines Day"lol.

Just off to dish up dinner now.Sausages,Mash, and a concoction of sprouts, mushrooms and pancetta cubes.

Evening All,

That will be good to save some EXPENSE if the freezer works ok again Jane.

I keep all the instruction books for everything in a file folder and every so often go through it and chuck out the booklets for anything we no longer have. I even staple the receipts for the things inside the cover of each booklet so it's all together if I have to make a warranty claim!! :-D :-D It's the Civil Servant in me coming out.......can't help it. LOL!!! :-D :-D It still didn't stop me mislaying the washing machine booklet when I'd had it out and hadn't put it back though!! lol :-0

OH made a gruesome discovery at the bottom of the garden behind the shed this morning. In the corner we have bags of bark chippings piled up and at the moment a 4 foot high pile of the old slabs is blocking access around the back of the shed until OH can lay them all around it in the Spring. When he has a mooch up the garden he tends to stand on the pile of slabs so he can get a really good view across the field at the back. This morning he rushed back to get me to come and look. In the gap between the slabs and the pile of bags was a dead young rat on it's side......no sign of injury. Less than 6 inches from it was a freshly cleaned spine, some entrails, some sodden fur and a chewed head with no eyes or ears. At first I thought it was a cat, but then spotted what was clearly the hind foot of a rabbit. Mr Fox we thought!! :-0 There is a burrow under the brambles at the back of our fence and other rabbit holes in the field, but a Fox would have to jump up our 6 foot fence with wobbly trellis on top to get where it did and why do that when it could just get under the hedge into next doors? Also, it would be cornered at the back of the shed. What was the rat to do with it and why wasn't that eaten too? Very puzzling. :-S OH has just left it for tonight to see if any more of it disappears, including the rat.......would save him having to clear it up!! :-D

On a lighter note, I started sorting through the clothes boxes from the loft!! My oh my what an eyeopener! My criteria were chuck out anything very old fashioned, things I knew I wouldn't wear again, things with fiddly cloth buttons, too hot to wear eg long sleeved nighties I found and anything where the elastic had perished!! I did keep some things that were too small like some tiny white shorts and badminton skirts I used to wear, unbelievable....don't think the waist would go around my leg now, but it is nice to have the evidence I was slim once!! :-D Then I found a box of 'frillies'! Pairs of panties with less material than a hanky!! I took them to show OH in the study and he burst out laughing at the ridiculous size of them. Well, they never were 'roomy'! lol He followed me back to look at the rest..... ;-)more pants far too small, tiny suspender belts and a garter! We laughed out loud at the size of 2 tiny basques, one black, one black and pink and agreed I would need to join them together to wear one at the front, one at the back now!! OH did say industrial welding would be needed....cheek!! ;-) I put them ALL back in the box anyway! When I'd finished I had 6 bags of stuff to take to the dog rescue charity shop tomorrow.

How nice you are to become a gt gt grandad Frank! Yes, I can imagine Ros going through her knitting patterns!! Hope your cold clears up quickly and you can click your fingers to butler Lewis now for whatever you need!!

It sounds nice where Joel has gone Kim, we could do with a bit of sun on our backs here. Hope Bess's visit to the vet went ok......cats are not the easiest animals at the vet's are they?

Looking forward to your poem Sheila.......hope your OH is ok now.

That's the right way to get a job finished and to your satisfaction Fiona! I bet they will have it finished in no time now. Won't be long before you will using it now.

How nice Mandy, a hand knitted shawl for your new grandchild. I still have one or two knitting patterns for those very fancy stitched matinee jacket sets that babies used to have. Years ago I would knit one whenever work friends left to have a baby. I used to love to see babies in those pretty knitted white or pastel outfits with smocked dresses or rompers. Not as practical as what they wear nowadays though.

Off to watch the Queen programme I am recording now. William, I don't watch those award programmes or the Jungle or Big Brother ones or X factor!! I do look in towards the end of BGT though.......a misery aren't I.

Ann, I have just laughed my blooming socks off at your post. Not about the poor rabbit and rat ,but your 'frillies',and suspenders etc lolol, and your OH following you to see more ;-) ;-) ;-)
When Frank reads it he will definitely need another lie down :-D :-D

Evening All

Did my coffee duty this afternoon , not really busy, kids on holiday from school since last friday and don't go back till this Wednesday coming , think they call this half term.

Another 2 shops closing down in our town and what sad is they have been around for years, good shops too,
One is a mans outfitters, really good quality clothes,, a family run business. lease has run out,

The other is a jewlers that has also been there for years, a lovely shop that sold a lot of fancy goods like expensive jewlery boxes, ornaments, watches and beautiful glassware,
It has been trading since 1886 and there is 15 branches alone in Scotland. I only hope they don't replace them with charity shops or more Poun*lands.

Thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes. I have'nt opened my cards yet!! Am about to do so so will pop in later. I have a nice little pile just waiting to be opened.

Had a phone call from my friend in Suffolk to say Happy Birhtday. It was so nice as I have'nt seen her now for a few years. They may come down this way this year. It is also her one of her grandsons birthday today. When her daughter was preggy I said she would have him on my birthday and she did. Little Isacc is 12 today.
