Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Feb 2012 18:47

Forgot t say the other day when it was really cold here we walked past the outside tap and it was running with water. It had frozen and popped off the conection and oh did'nt have another connecter and olive thing. He just disconnected it somehow and then wraped all the pipe up really well with those foam covers and then carpet and then bubble wrap. It is the main pipe into the house!!

You sound as though you had a really nice day with your daughter Maureen. I bet you were both shattered when you got back to the flat. When I try to look at all the things in shops it makes my eyes ache!

Roast pork tonight and all the trimmings. It's in the oven and smelling nice already. Jane we had chicken curry last night.

Just spoke to Janice. She really is having a rotten time, and has the beginning of a pressure sore on her good heel :-S :-S Her Dr thinks she is having a reaction to the opiates in her meds and has been given some tablets to put up under her lip to help stop the nausea. All her friends from work want to go and see her ,but she just doesn't feel as though she is up to it.She says she is very tearful a lot of the time. Not a Happy Bunny :-(

Curry smelling good now :-D

Yes, loved the catnap report too William. Mind you, when I read it I kept thinking of Mrs Slocombe in Are You Being Served and her pussy!!

Poor Janice, I was wondering if she felt any better today.......awful feeling sick all the time. She must be feeling very low after all this while too and must also have lost a few pounds! I do hope those tablets do the trick for her. She really needs to feel she is on the way to recovery soon.

He's on the tele again "TAKE ME OUT" If I did I wouldn't bring him back !!!!

We haven't had a takeaway tonight, neither of us fancied one. Ros had Egg and beans on toast, I haven't eaten yet. Might have a sandwitch later,

William, What will you do if that cat stops comming to your garden ???? You do paint an excellent picture in my mind about him, gives me a good felling (smiling) inside.

Trust Jane to mix up Mr Mel with the bantams :-D :-D Sorry to hear Janice is still under the weather, hope she improves soon.

William, There were occassions when Dad would take my brother and I alone on the "GOLDEN EAGLE" One of his jobs was to undo the ropes on the pier at Tower Hill, so the boat could get underway. Tower Bridge would open to let us through. On the way down the Thames we would pass the warehouse and soap factories. The smell was so bad I would be sick over the side. But once out to sea, I was fine. There were plenty for the kids to do, apart from running around deck. We had quoits, and chess, draughts, books, etc.

Being "BOSUN BILLS" son, we would be allowed in the engine room. Those massive pistons pumping up and down driving the paddles on each side. The noise would make you quake in your shoes. We would also be able to go to the galley, and cadge a few crab claws. The other kids would say "Where did you get them" We bought 'em with us, was our standed reply
If you look on the Web you will see what they were used for before becomming Pleasure craft. with the" General Steam Navigation Company"
GSNC ( we always said it stood for GOOD SAILORS NEVER COMPLAIN)

Morning Mel, morning everyone,

Very frosty and looks like we might have had a little some thing as the roads look a bit wet and glassy !!

Mel the bells have been ringing here they sound lovely i like to hear them ,years ago the clock on the clock tower use to chime every quarter and on the hour ,but that went wrong and was never repaired ,i suppose because of the cost .

Not doing much today ,we need petrol in the car which we might get later when the fog has cleared a bit .

Coffee time now .

Morning All.

Not so cold today..The fog is comming in more..Just started to drizzle here..Have been in the garden with Mocha..We have been enjoying the snow while it lasts..
Other half has gone to help my brother with something..I decided to stay here..

Alan doesnt know that our son and family are comming down next Weekend. It will be his 60th birthday..We are going out for a surprise meal..He is my toy boy by 6 years lol..My eldest son put a surprise thing on with my 60th..

If Mocha is left on his own too long he leaves surprise packets by the door point is the doors open onto them lol...He is good in the garden when he goes out..We still need to make the garden a bit more secure..

Mandy it must be nice to hear the bells ringing..

I wonder how Mocha will get on with the children or visa versa..

Hi Folks, Happy Sunday to you. My Sunday got off to a shock start when I heard of the death of Whitney Houston on my bedside radio first thing at 8am.

Anyway, thanks Frank for more tales of your 'shipboard' times, sounds great. When my Dad used to take me up to Temple Mills & Stratford works on the LNER/BR as a lad I used to be terrified of large working machinery. I always felt like somehow they were going to get me and chomp me all up. What daft things we think of as kids! My Dad used to call the LNER the Late and Never Early Railway. One treat I always remember at Stratford was him taking me to see Queen Victoria's carriage tucked away in some obscure rail shed. I think it's in the York Railway Museum now, not totally sure.

Big Bad Black Moggy came in again today, but he tricked me. He pretended to do his business and when I rushed out to scare him off, I found that it was only sham-poo! It got me in a bit of a lather I have to admit, and I'm in no condition-er to be like that.

When we had our little drive out to Tamworth yesterday, we saw something out in one of the villages that made us giggle. Some thoughtful wag had built two snowmen by the bus stop looking like they had their hands out to stop the next bus. The things people think of. Another thing that made us smile in Tamworth itself was outside this old neglected building that had once been a cafe. On the closed door was a sign 'STEPS DANCE STUDIO' - parked outside was a mobility scooter!!! I said to my grandson, "you should have taken a photo of that and put it on Facebook".

It was like another time one summer when we paid a visit to Warwick. Someone had left their sports car parked outside a shop with the roof down. Their dog was sitting in the driving seat with its paws on the steering wheel!! That was another time when I wish I'd had a camera with me...

Well, no frost and a milder day. Gave me a chance to do some outside jobs, like building a moat around the bird table and renewing the defences against BBB pussy. Most of the snow has gone except where kids have built snowmen (Ah, the Snowman film, now there's one film I never tire of watching) and people have cleared their paths and drives. All the cars look like they've been painted grey with all the road salt that's sprayed up over them.

We've got diced steak in the slow cooker with sweet our sour sauce for our meal later on, that'll be lovely when the smell is permeating the house. Ahhhhh, Bisto! (Or sweet & sour!!!)

Well, I'm off now for a while, hope you all have a lovely day. Dentists tomorrow for our annual check-up.

Jane

Jane Report 12 Feb 2012 15:34

Only a Sham -poo! Love it William. He's playing you lol.
Just finished eating here and boy are we stuffed! No room for pudding for me.The men managed theirs though.(surprise surprise).
I'm still waiting for James to take the big bag of lost food from the freezer to the tip.It is still actually quite frozen even after 3 days.He says the tip closes at 6 so will take it on the way when he drops his girlfriend off at the station. She is heading back to Uni in Canterbury.

I was watching 2 squirrels chasing each other in the Lilac tree this morning. It is where I have the Peanut ball hanging. They were both wanting to get to it.One squirrel ended up loosing it's grip on a branch and took a heavy landing on the lawn (about a 12ft drop). It landed on it's back in the snow.Got up ,shook itself and looked back up at the other squirrel munching away on the peanuts lol.I bet it was giving a filthy look.

Afternoon all

Cloudy but cold. just finished some ironing, and then had an hour on the computer, there is talk of having another evening with my family history society on a trip to Edinburgh in April to do some family research at Registrar house but only if they can get 25 people to come, otherwise it is to expense for the society to pay for any less a number for a bus or for the research room.

Waiting for Sofia & her dad to come , daughter no 1 is full of cold so won't be coming for dinner after she has finished work, I told her to go home and go to bed and get some rest while she has the peace without Sofia.
