Good Morning all,
Very cold night minus 14 around here. I went out at 9.45 to start the car for Ros, to let it de-ice. She's off to meet Martine for her Saturday jaunt.
I have ther family comming tomorrow for dinner. Conrad has just SKYPED. I need to let him know the time Harvey is comming. Will ring him later.
Another fond memory of childhood was. When the "pleasure steamers" GOLDEN EAGLE" ROYAL DAFFODIL" and another were in dry dock over winter. Dad would be the watchman and lived on board the "EAGLE" on Sundays Mum would take us on the bus/train to the docks, While they spent their day together. We 5 kids had the run of three boats, We would play hide and seek and would be anywhere on the three boats. from the Engine roons the Anchor store, the Rooms used by "POSH" pasengers, the Captains bridge. We would get rweally dirty., amongst all the chains and ropes, and Mum would take clean cloths for us to get into before going home, With as much "GOODIES" that we could carry. Dad would walk with us to the station, and then go back. Always looking forward to the next Sunday.
Mandy did you get my Ecard. ????

It was a very mild here last night (not).Thermometers on the Patio were reading -11 this morning. We had a cracked bottle of orange juice and 2 cracked milk bottles on the doorstep. The other 2 bottles have the frozen milk pushing out the top with the lids looking like little hats.I will now have to go out and get more milk to see us through the weekend. Just spotted you Frank.-14!!!!!.I thought our -11 was bad enough.I bet Lewis is getting all excited to be going to stay with his Pappy again.is he with you all week?
Hi Denise.Good to see you again. We were wondering where you had gone.Good you are managing the Horse Riding again. It will be a Canter next time :-D :-D
Fiona ,good idea not to do any painting if you have an achy back. You will have to be the supervisor today lol.
I suppose I had better think about getting out now ,so BBL

Morning All, and Evening Kim,
So nice to see you posting Kim and hope you feel better today. <3
I did get a chance to say good morning earlier as my friend came and we had a coffee and a nater just as I was going to post!!
Cold old morning here with frost but the sun is out now and Little Old Man is in the garden today sitting in the sun. He stayed in yesterday all day as it was so miserable.
Di came with my birthday pressy so thats put away till Tueday and the postman has just been and I have 4 more cards. I know one is from Shirl but all the others have no readable post marks on them, blast! One is from Aunty Joy mums sister as I recognise her hand writing. I also received a Moonpig box which oh says not to open yet. I wonder what is in it??????? It is quite a big box?????????????????
Oh has put his back out again over the last couple of days so I gave him a hot water bottle last night and he said it helped a lot. I never ask him now as he always says NO if I ask if he wants one (a hot water bottle that is !!)
Off to get the papers now if my car will start :-S I hope it does....
Ann loved the neckless and braclet. What a great idea, I wonder who thought of that in the first place?? ;-) You are really getting a big collection now and all so pretty. Still think those earings you made were my favorite. The mauvy ones.
Lovely to Denise is ok as we were all a bit worried. Good that you had a nice ride the other day and are still enjoying it. I have'nt ridden for years now. The last timee I went was over on Dartmoor accompanying a friend who could'nt go on as we left the yard as her horse was jumping around a bit and she has MS. We went off in the car around Dartmoor instead and had a nice cream tea by a river. Much safer for poor Gerry. She now has about 9 horses of her own and takes in waifs and strays that have been badly treated. Get them back into health and puts weight on some of them. She has one that has to wear a special collar all the time as he kept sucking air in. He dos'nt do it with this collar on. It is metal and fits round the top of his neck just behind his head and presses on his windpipe. They also have two little blue roan ponies bred by her father in law who they are hoping to train to a small cart. They are wild and not broken in yet but a good matching pair. They are mother and daughter.

Afternoon all.
Happy Birthday Mandy not sure if it was yesterday or whether it is today.
I have been going through all the messages and I find it difficut to pick out anything in particular to comment on when there are so many. Other than to say I hope you are all well.
I gather about 3 of you all met up the other day that was nice for you obviously you must all live quite near to each other.
I gather that Mocha is doing well - I gues he is getting over his cough now.
I also realise that you were worried for me as you had not seen me on the thread for a while that was very nice of you.
I may be back later only I am going out tonight, if not will catch up tomorrow.

<3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANDY <3 <3 <3 Hope you are having a really good day. Have PM you.
Looked out the window Thursday evening and saw about 2" of snow and thought my trip would be off, but Friday although there was snow on the roofs, trees and paths the roads were clear so have spent a lovely time with daughter. Her dress looks even more beautiful than I remember, she didn't want to take it off. We found a nice Italian and had a really delicious lunch and large glass of wine must admit I could quite readily have gone home then and had a snooze but the shops were calling, I tried on a few dresses just to get an idea, one was particularly nice, but no so the price tag £125 and it would have needed a bolero or jacket, all in all we were out about 9 hours, absolutely shattered by the time I got back to her flat, but she cooked a nice dinner so I just relaxed.
Sounds like you had a nice lunch with Fitz Ann and Jane, good to let your hair down once in a while.

What a bunch of live wires we are today.(I don't mean here on the thread) .I mean here at home.I think because it is so cold outside and so warm and cosy inside it is making us feel all sleepy.Even Chester hasn't moved far from his bed :-D I need to stir myself and get the Curry on the go (chicken korma).Perfect for a freezing evening. The shower in the en suite was almost frozen this morning. When Chris turned it on it was just a trickle :-S
Maureen ,it sounds like you had a wonderful day with your daughter. Is the dress a traditional wedding dress?I always get weepy when I see a bride.Same when I see a hearse.I wish I didn't get so emotional :-S
Now I really really must get cracking.TTFN

Very traditional dress Jane, satin I think bodice and satin with lace over the top skirt, strapless and laced at the back. The wedding is in a little village in Kent in a very pretty church and reception in the village hall.
It's still freezing here, I'm just going to shut the curtains, put the tv on and curl up on the sofa for the rest of the evening.

It sounds lovely Maureen. When did you say the wedding is?
Mel I had to laugh when you said your OH was sitting out in the sun.He wouldn't have done that here lol.Even though it has been a lovely sunny afternoon. The snow in the back garden was sparkling and looked really pretty.
Well the curry is in the oven. All the bits to go with it I just need to stick on baking tray.Onion Bhaji, Vegetable Samosa,Saag Aloo,Naan.Rice in the micro, and Poppadoms.I think it might be a bit filling :-S Have any of you seen those massive packs of Love Heart Sweets that are being sold for Valentine Day??I did buy a pack of giant size Parma Violets the other day.I actually bought 2 and meant to give one to Janice but forgot so I now have 2 :-D

Evening all, a bit late today with my post as we have had a lovely day out with our grandson & his wife, off to Tamworth and back home with lots of goodies. Very cold, but nice and dry and the drive in the sunny countryside was a treat after being shut in most of the week. A nice lunch warmed us up a treat.
Anyway, Big Bad Black puss was apprehended by the Pussy Police yesterday. He was found at the bottom of our garden, stuck in a Rue plant, his head through a vinegar soaked newspaper and with his foot stuck in a plastic bottle of water. He came up before the beak (head Magpie) but got off on a technical claws - because the incident had been on the mews. There was a paws in the proceedings when he was warned that if he re-offended, he could face cat-stration. He went off with his tail between his legs. Is he a feline - or a felon?
Frank, love your tales of the pleasure steamers, what lovely days and you paint such a realistic picture. More please, more. One time I was down in Bournemouth when the paddle steamer Waverley was doing trips along the coast from the pier along to Weymouth.. It was an opportunity not to be missed and I absolutely loved being on board. The chug of the engines and the turn of the paddles was so unique, when you passed from bow to stern along the sidewalk at sea, you could observe the great paddle wheels turning and the mechanics of the thing were like something out of a Boy's Own' comic. Also the interior, all wood and period furnishings, ah sweet nostalgia. They don't make 'em like that anymore. I think she was built on the Clyde for Scottish services, hence the name, but I'd have to look it up to be sure.
Well, we haven't been able to see little Grace with all the cold weather keeping us in, but we have got a nice present for the three of them. It's a silver frame with baby embelishments and it has little inset frames for pictures of her first year, each space with the given month - and a bigger centre space for a pic of all three of them. I'm sure they'll love it and will be something to keep and for her to see when she is much, much old (and we're no longer around :-( ). I'll let you all know when we see her next.
Better sign off now, it's tea time. Hope the birthday girl has had a lovely day, and finishes it off in grand style.

Maureen, if I was to tramp about shopping as well I think the lunch would have to have been last!!! lol I like Italian food, sounds like you had a smashing day. I bet your daughter will look beautiful in her dress.
Jane, it is much snowier where you are than it is here and we had no frost like that on our trees. I would have been out with my camera like last year if we had! If they are all tired now, after your curry and filling 'bits' I should think they will all be sound asleep at your house!! lol :-D Isn't Little Old Man Mel's bantam Jane!! lol
Glad you managed another ride Denise and a longer one. Don't worry about replying to everyone, we can't manage either!! Just pop in when you fancy.
Pat, little Mocha is having a rough time isn't he. What with the nasty chip being fitted too, poor little mite. Glad he has brightened up a bit. I bet your finger hurt after that slice!
That was interesting about your friend who takes in the waifs and strays Mel. It will be good when she can use the little cart with the blue roan pair of ponies. My little foal I bought at age 16 was a blue roan and when he was moulting he would look mostly white at one point.
OH pointed out a Minnie Mouse outfit in the supermarket, tittered, and said I ought to get one!! I asked him if he was taking the Mickey!!! LOL :-D
