Toby says Woof for his birthday wishes :-D :-D he's not doing any thing special today just the usual laying around :-D :-D after all he is 11 now :-D
He's had doggie chews and biscuits for his birthday, but no cake :-S

That's quite a bit more snow you've had Jane.
I have a chest freezer in the shed and there's a smaller chest freezer that we use at christmas if we need it , the only bind is having to go down to the shed when i want some thing out of it .

Suns still shining ,looks lovely out there now.

Still no Denise !! hope she's ok.

Afternoon All
Cold but dry today, just had a slow day, caught up on some ironing, OH came home from work, their computers were down so he came home to work instead,

Sofia will be down about 3pm while her mum goes to her exercise class and then on to work, hoping SIL will not be picking her up to late, as OH & I want to do the weekly shopping tonight and get it over with , got a lot of work we want to do in the porch like sandpapering walls and plumbing in washing machine if we have the time over the weekend

William Report 10 Feb 2012 15:04

Afternoon all.
Frank, don't give up, we need you. I've just viewed your email with the ocean scenes on it. W O W! Not vertigo for me today - seasickness!!! I never wanted to be a miner (not that we had any coal mines in London/Essex!) - now I'm glad I never wanted to be a sailor or a fisherman...If I'd have been on board I'd have been down below decks changing many pairs of underpants!
Also, looking how those captains handled those vessels in such horendous seas, it makes you wonder how the Concordia ended up like a beached whale in calm seas and clear weather so near to land?

Big Bad Black moggy has been back this morning. However, he's smarter than I thought as he came equiped with wire cutters to break through the barbed wire around our bird table. He fled empty mouthed and in panic because of the surprise I'd set up for him. Inspired by Indiana Jones, I balanced the kid next doors football on the apex of the bird table roof. The vibration of the moggy attacking the wire caused the ball to roll off, surprising BBB moggy and scaring him away. In his plight, he left the wire cutters behind. Now I have evidence, I've called the Pussy Police to take over the case. I'm expecting a purr-fect arrest any time now as he left his paw prints on the cutters. I'll keep you all posted on events as they transpire.

We had two lots of snow overnight, the first one was nothing to be concerned about. The problem was then it froze and a fresh lot came down on top of it. I was glad I didn't have to drive to work early like I used to do in my working days. My wife was due to go to the hairdressers but she phoned and cancelled till next week. She just had a DIY job this week aided by yours truly.

So are we having a requiem mass for your old freezer Jane? Isn't it a pest when things go wrong, then they seem to go in batches. We've had those long-life bulbs for ages and 3 have gone capput in the last couple of weeks. Mind you, a few old bulbs is nothing compared with a freezer dying on you.

Hugs and pants on your birthday Toby, hope you have a good one with nice doggy dreams. 11 eh, that makes him a real old gentleman in human years then. Also, in case I forget tomorrow Millie, a very Happy Birthday :-) in advance for yourself, have a good one.

I'll look back later folks, have a good day and stay warm. TTFN

Frank Report 10 Feb 2012 15:56

I'll try again, with a condensed version.
We had about 2/3 inches of snow last night. It started about 6 pm and was still snowing when I went to bed 11.30 pm. I have cleared the front steps, and a path to the back door of the garage. That all it's getting.

Lewis rang last night full of cold, and looking fowrard to his time with us. When he had finished talking to me and Ros, he said I'll get dad for you. While Ros waited he was saying "just one moment, i'm trying to connect you" had Ros in stitches.

William, When I looked of that Email, I too wondered what it must have been like for the crew and "skippers" of those boats.

It was bad enought for me back in 1960 when I was lost at sea for 19 hours. We had four lifeboats out looking for us. When the likeboat found us and towed us in to the River entrance. We were under our own steam. When we mored up the Customs and Excise bloke came on board to seach us to see if we had been abroard and bought DRUGS in !!!! We hardley had a stomach let alone contaband. :-( :-( :-( :-(

You are having a wonderful time with your pussy. and you tell the story so well. I could see where the little Bs had been on the patio, but not where they had entered the garden. (FLYING CATS)

Ros is down at one of the womens houses working out the design for this kneeling pad for the church. She be home when she's ready.

We got confirmation that we are on the list for tickets, for the Jubilee Concert at Buck. House. Will will know by the end of March if we are successful.

Glad you enjoyed your day out girls, Where did you go ????

Mel, Hope you get rid of this cold soon, it's not like you to catch anything. Have you been drinking from a wet glass ???? LOL LOL

Mandy, What are we TWENTY ONE AND A HALF tomorrow or is it three quarters. ???? Give toby a bone for me, if he can still chew !!!!

Jane Report 10 Feb 2012 17:24

Can't wait for the next installment of the Marauding Puss William lol.He is a determined thing isn't he.

Frank we went to a place called Ascoughs in Market Harborough in the High St.It is a very popular little Restaurant and was packed out.Good job we booked ahead.Well worth a visit. You can see it online.

James and Jess have gone for a tramp over the snowy lane and bridleway.Jess has her camera so I'm hoping she gets some nice piccies.

Still have tons of snow in the garden, but the bird bath hasn't frozen again since I last defrosted it a bit earlier.

Mandy are you doing anything special tomorrow? At least you won't be snowed in :-D
It's really quite dark now and the lovebirds are still out on the walk!.Hope they get back soon.

Frank Report 10 Feb 2012 17:32

Just watched the "hungry sailors" bought back memories of going through Tower Bridge on a Sunday on the "GOLDEN EAGLE" when dad worked on it. When it opened at night,it was always dark, and all the lights on the boat were illuminated. They would play "A LIFE ON THE OCEAN WAVE" over the tannyo. Oh such happy memories. Made my day, seeing the sights they showed, and the old Pie and Mash shop. I would eat that a couple of days a week in a shop in Aldgate. Smashing.!!!!

Jane

Jane Report 10 Feb 2012 17:53

I bet it made you feel all goosey Frank watching that.I have seen a couple of episodes of The Hungry Sailors, and think they are brilliant. How nice for a Father and Son to be able to work together like that.

Evening All,

Happy birthday to Toby! He doesn't look his age does he Mandy. I had a giggle at your OH's efforts with the toast. It is the sort of thing mine would do! lol.

That is an interesting site Jess mentioned Jane. I didn't know of it......looks the kind of site I would want to BUY from as well!!!!! lol Glad my efforts are thought of as 'cool'. :-D

William, I think that cat has your card marked as well as your garden! Have you a 'Plan B'?

Fiona, sounds like you have a busy weekend.......I know what you mean about the shopping and getting it out of the way first when it isn't so busy.

Hope your cold soon improves Mel, good that your OH did the chickens for you so you didn't need to be out in the cold.

Frank, I think seeing those fishing boats has put me right off the idea of a cruise. It looked horrendous the way the boats were plunging into the waves. Those are nice memories you have of your dad and the Thames. A lot of young boys would have been very envious. Good to see lewis is on form, pulling your legs!! :-D Shirl, did they manage to fish your grandfather out and get him back on the boat? How awful. Imagine trying to cook in those conditions!!!!! Hope you are staying in this weekend with those bitter temperatures.....really cold!!!

I am off to Ellesmere Port with OH tomorrow if the football isn't cancelled. lol I can't say I'm desperate to go if it is cold, but at least there are a few cafes to get a hot drink and warm up. In case I don't get chance to come on the computer before I go, I hope you have a lovely birthday tomorrow Mandy ......at least you don't have any cooking to do!!

Night, night xx

Ann thanks very much for the photos. As usual they are stunning pieces and beautiful colours. Have a nice day out with OH, hope it won't be too cold.

Mel are you feeling any better today?

Haven't read all the posts. Yesterday wasn't good for me, breathless all day and not able to do much. I will have a read of them and come back later.

Hi all, I have been quite busy over the last few days so have not been able to spend too much time on this site.

I have literally just come on it to check if there were any messages and then concentrated on doing my family history.

I went to my third physio session on Monday morning which was fine (although the leg is hurting on and off now but in a different place) .

Monday afternoon I had an appoinment at the hospital to speak about my eyes (diagnosed with Glaucoma) seeing specialist at the end of the month.

Went horse riding on Thursday afternoon second ride since I fell off managed full half hour and also trotted felt OK.

Last time I was on here there were a lot of colds about I hope you are all feeling better now.

I am afraid I have not read all the comments since I was last on here it would take ages.

Anyway I hope you are all coping OK with this horrible cold snowy weather (I hate it).

Hope to be back later.

:-)
