Thanks for the photos Pat, Mocha is so sweet.
Sorry to hear about little Teddy Sheila, take comfort in knowing he had such a happy life with you. I often think I'm on borrowed time with Alfie but then remember he's had nearly two years now that wouldn't have been if we'd listened to the vet.
Happy anniversary Fiona, are you going out this evening. At least this year you can enjoy a nice meal.

Kim asked me to say Hi from her today. She can ger on GR but there is no box for to type a message :-S.She said she didn't have a brilliant visit to her Dr and was feeling very down in the dumps yesterday.
Lovely flowers Fiona :-D
I think I am going to get the fire going again.I have just had to melt the water in the bird bath for the second time today and put more seed out for the little birdies :-D
As we are going to Janice tomorrow morning I thought I would get a Beef casserole cooked today so it will just need heating when we get back.I doubt we will be staying too long there as I know she gets tired easily and needs to lie on the bed a lot, plus we want to make sure we are back before we get the snow that is forecast. I must put that kettle on as I am parched.

Still bright sunshine here ,and its really warm in the conservatory with the sun streaming through the windows, have turned the heating off for a while.
Fiona, lovely bouquet ,pretty colours , i always think it's a shame to have to take them out of the wrapping they look so nice but you have to ,to get all the stalks into the water .
Sister and BIL were pleased with their flowers ,Yellow and Peach Roses, Lilies and two tone Yellow and Peach Spray Carnations all topped off with a big yellow bow. They are off this afternoon to see their granddaughter ,she's only thirteen, she had her big operation yesterday to correct a bend in her spine, she went down to theatre at seven and didn't come back until three in the afternoon ,her mum and dad have been staying at the hospital with her ,she has to lay on her tummy, and will be several months before she can go back to school.
Wasps !!! at this time of the year ,i suppose it's the milder weather that's woken them up !! still finding Lady birds in the conservatory ,there was one crawling about on my orchid !!

Sorry Mel, The other morning there were two postings from you ,both the same. I have just looked back and there's only one ;-) ;-) ;-)
Happy anniversary Fiona, better late than never. !!!
Sorry about your news Shelia, I still hear my little cat, talking to me. It seems so strange that we can now close all the doors. Certainly makes the lounge warmer. They say time is a good healer !!!! I have been considering getting another, but will give it a bit more time.
The clouds look very white and fluffy, with just a hint of sunshine. They say it gets warmer before snow, and it dosen't feel so cold oiutside today :-0 :-0 :-0
William, So glad you enjoyed your first meeting with Grace. My Daughter was born with a mob of black hair that went down her back. I wonders what I had sired :-D :-D :-D
As you say the old J J was built like a tank, You saw quite a lot around in the 50/60. What model was the old Ford with the dickie seat in the back/boot ???? A neighbour of ours had one. My first car was a 1947 Ford PREFECT. 4 door. 3 gears, vacum wipers, with the old traffic indicators that flipped up from the side. Went everywhere in that. Cost me £25.00
Trust all you ladies are well and keeping busy and warm.

Ann, what I forgot to mention about Hednesford was not only the noise but the smell of high octane fuel, I'm sure your OH will recall that. That's an interesting area around Cannock Chase. One time we were out that way we came accross the German War cemetary. It was a revelation and totally different to what I'd expected. I guess as a Blitz child in London you didn't quite appreciate Gerry dropping bombs and incediaries all over but time moves on and you think about things diferently. One thing that moved me at the G W C was the grave of a very young German soldier, who died just shortly before the war ended. He probably no more wanted to go fight for Adolf than a lot of young German's, and there his grave stands in a foreign country. Wars are so futile why oh why can't everyone want to live in peace? (Like us on here)
Anyway, happier things. Baby Grace, my wife had her photo taken by our daughter with Grace while we were there but I don't think my fizzog was required to mar the childs beauty! In any case I was too besotted admiring her to think of it. We had gone straight there from my OH's appointment at the hospital so I didn't think to pick up my camera. I was saying about her mop of hair, also there was her cousin, our 9 month old 'other' GGD, Maggie. Maggie (like her mother before her) has a little wisp of blonde hair on top sticking straight up. It was so peculiar seeing a week old baby with all this black hair and her older cousin with hardly any. And Frank, this black hair also goes down Grace's back too. It must be her Dad's influence as her mother is fair.
Frank I think the Ford with the dickie seat was the Ford A circa 1930 on, termed 'The Roadster'. I can't see any other Ford's in my books that show any other model with a dickie. I remember my brothers first car after he departed from a plethora of motor bikes. It was a Standard Flying 8, 1940 model, so the must have been made just as the war stopped production and they went over to being a shadow factory. He loved his motor bikes but when he married my S I L, she had a penchant for falling asleep on the back. Not being a safe choice, he went for the more sensible option of four wheels.
We were going to have a trip to Kenilworth today but after I went out to get the wheelybin in, I managed to persuade OH that we would be much better off admiring the sunny day from the confines of our warm home. I'm getting a bit fed up dressing like an Eskimo (sorry - PC - an Inuit) every time I go out the door. Having said that, I'm off to post a letter now, but at least it's only around the corner!

Mandy.Have a lovely evening.Good job it's not tomorrow.SNOW!!
Hi Shirl.Have you had any more snow ,or is it just cold now?
William ,my niece had black hair all down her back too when she was born.It soon disappeared.I think it was down the side of her face too.A right little monkey lol.
Phew,I'm boiling!I have had to move to the other end of the room, away from the fire.Trouble is I am now next to the radiator lol.Chester is fast asleep in his bed.I realised today that he has lost a lot of fat/muscle, and I can now feel his ribs and backbone. Not that he is skinny, but it just doesn't feel right, and his back legs are getting quite wobbly :-(
Mandy I did laugh when you said about Toby's tail going nineteen to the dozen in his sleep :-D :-D
I must give Hannah a call and find out where she went last night with her boyfriend. She said it was a surprise.

Been out in the garden from about three mucking about with the chickens water and corn and trying to get my little old man to eat something (not oh one of my old cockrels) (well oh is an old cockrel really!!! :-D ) No he is ok he is just as silly with the little old man as I am. He was the one left up the garden when oh thinned the cockrels out before our holiday last year. He survived up the second garden for about three weeks ans we had been back about four days and he just strolled down the garden and took up with the hens in the new house. Felt sorry for him so we kept him. The young cockrels from last year are pushing him oput though and we have to put him to bed each night before the others go in otherwise he is attacked by the younger cockrel.

Hi Everyone,
Lovely flowers Fiona.....I would want to save the pretty ribbons on them. There seems to be steady progress on your porch, won't be long before it is done. My OH was going to retire at 60, but then had the chance of early retirement so ended up retiring when he was just 58! I don't think I was ready for that!! lol Like your OH he was always travelling long distances, worked long days and had to cram all the things that had to be done in the weekends. It is good that your OH keeps himself fit with cycling when he can though, good relaxation for him too.
That was a very long operation for your sister's grandaughter Mandy. She will be glad it is over. It sounds like the operation Princess Eugenie had.
Yes, it is an interesting area as you say William, although as a child you think everywhere is the same! I could see and smell the pine trees of Cannock Chase where I lived, it was in the air. Spaced along the edges of the forest on the fencing at intervals were red buckets of sand and those besom broom things for beating out fires. We were brought up to be very conscious of fire risk with all those pine trees and dry bracken everywhere. You could see the look out towers above the trees in places where they would watch for any signs of fire. I've never been to the German Cemetry, but keep saying I must go and look at the War Memorial Arboretum that has been planted. Two of mum's uncle's and her cousin's names should be there I think. MIL's father is buried in Italy, it does seem strange as you say, yet at least their graves will be cared for and maintained.
It was -6 degrees in the car when I went out this morning. I can't see OH getting to a match tomorrow. I think he's coming with me to the Artist, John Flower exhibition being held in a local church. (better wrap up well!)
My sister had a lot of thick hair when she was born and it was a bright copper colour. It has stayed very thick and strong and grows faster than mine too. My brother had none when he was born and when it grew it was pure white until he was about 7.
Maureen I can't believe it is nearly 2 years since you got Alfie.......where did the time go!

Love to Kim and hope you feel better soon. <3 <3 <3
I can't beleive Alfie is 2 now as it only seems a little while since he was a samll kitten :-0

I was as bald as a coot when I was born and had very little hair until I was about 2.Then a massive mop of blonde curls.Hannah was the same. She always remembers strangers touching her hair(she hated it).
Ann,Fitz went to see 'The Artist' and said it was fantastic.
Mandy ,what a big operation your Sisters G Daughter has had.I hope it is a huge success for her.Poor girl having to stay on her tummy for so long.
I started doing this post about 2hours ago lol,but phone calls and interruptions made me forget all about it lol.So I will press the send button quickly before I get diverted again .

Ooh thanks for mentioning that Jane........I think it will be on at Warwick Arts at the end of the month, so we should get a chance to see it then. I bet Janice will be glad you are popping in to see her for a while.
OH had MORE EXPENSE on his car today!! What with the cost of the brakes recently and now this new headlight costing nearly £200 he has spent £600 on it in the last fortnight!! :-0 :-0
You said about the wasp Mel......we had a bluebottle in the lounge the other day.......they must think it is Spring........got my zapper raquet out and sizzled it. :-D
I remember there were lots of Ford Prefects and Ford Populars about in the 60s Frank. My friend's mum had a beige Popular......they seemed to be beige or black. I think she had another Ford after that.....some kind of small Station Wagon, pea green, like a small estate car with wood on the sides......what were they called??
