Didn't fancy him Mandy lol.I do remember him and his friend Paul digging up the road to put drains in outside our house .I think my friend Anne fancied him back then. They were a couple of years older than Anne and me and we were quite tickled pink with the wolf whistles and all that when we walked passed in our school uniforms........and My Mum saying "you don't want anything to do with those kind of people" :-| :-| :-|

Ann . and Jane We cleaned our loft out a while ago..Hubby had many trips to the skip..The children were asked if the things in there that belonged to them they wanted to keep or off to the charity it would go...I also had a good clean out when we had the kitchen done...

Have been watching skating on ice..Now for the results ....Its the peoples choice lol.

My hubby used to walk the greyhounds round the track before the races when in his teens..There was a track not far from us...

I caught up with one of my recordings this afternoon..Endevour it was called. It was on for 2 hours and gave you an insight of how inspector Morse started his career as a young policeman..

That's just the sort of thing a mum would say Jane!!! lol

It was me that said I cried over Black Beauty Liz. I still have the copy of the book I had as a child. I didn't realise Anna Sewell had died shortly after writing it. I'm glad they stopped that awful docking of the tails!! Those awful tight martingales too!! I would liked to have seen the stage version of War Horse, clips of it on telly looked very good with the robotic/manual horses!

I remember an old boy I worked with telling me about a horse that came back from war to work on the farm and the problems when they tried to use it for ploughing. It had been used to pull the guns and it was so used to going flat out when told to go forward it tried to do it with the plough in tow!! I believe hundreds of thousands of them were killed in WW1. I have read somewhere that working with them and looking after them was very beneficial to the troops welfare.

Fiona, it looks like we will all be at the cinema then. I'll have to check whether it is released here on the 13th. Is it tomorrow the hammering and banging starts?

You too then Shirl for the cinema!! Do you have the complexes with about 10 different screens like we do. (yours probably have a lot more screens!! lol)

Pat, at least we are only five minutes from the tip! I bet we'll find all sorts we have forgotten we had.

Off to bed now.....sleeping much better lately. night, night xx

Sorry Ann,I thought it was Jane! senior moment you understand!! Nice day here so am off to do some gardening, weeds galore, but also lots of snowdrops and what looks like daffs poking their heads out. We've had a bill from the SEB for an unpaid leccy bill, as we pay by direct debit, I'm not quite sure what they're about!! will have to ring later and find out! trouble is it's SO difficult to get through to them, means hanging on the phone for AGES - Oh dear, what now?!!!!

Morning everyone just here for a minute as I have the doctor in Sydney tomorrow.

Just picked through some threads, but great news Liz that everything is good with your tests. You must be feeling very happy about that.

I would love to see War Horse too, well when it's on DVD. My friend saw it the other day and although it was sad, she said it wasn't too bad. Only half a box of tissues needed. Yes Black Beauty was a favourite of mine and I cried too :-(

Love the new photos Shirl, Pat and Maureen. Drink in the hand in the sunshine, nothing better.

Frank are you any better today??? Ann hope the trots have eased and you are sleeping better. Are you in the correct house with the correct OH??? ;-)

Pat, loved the picture of your tank on fb. Those fish are so pretty.

Sheila thanks for that advice on cooking the turkey, will give it a go next year. Keith cooked ours in an oven bag, not too bad moist in parts and dry in others.

Mel we get the occasional owl in the reserve, but not very often. It would be enchanting to hear them all hooting at once.

Humid, but not too hot over the last couple of days. It will be warmer tomorrow. OH has his birthday on Wednesday. He and Joel went down to the cricket in Sydney last Thursday to see Australia beat India. Both enjoyed the day and only second game they have been to that hasn't been a wash out.

Jane that was shocking about those greyhounds - lovely natured dogs as pets. We have had a couple of terrible cases of cruelty here too. One woman threw her 4 month old pup out a second storey window. He survived after surgery and has been adopted by some nice people and another today a teenager took to someone's pet Maltese terrier with the handle of a shovel, broke its jaw, smashed teeth. Vet bill is somewhere near $5,000. These poor animals, who is there for them. These bas***** need flogging then shooting.

Mandy would rather watch the skating than some of these other celebrity shows. I don't think we will see it on tv again in Aus.

Hope everyone else is well. Enjoy the movies today for those going. Off to have a cuppa and see what's on the old box. 9.48 pm DST

Morning Liz and all,

Ros and I are going to see WAR HORSE. Last time we went to the cinema together was Gladiator and that was years ago. !!!!

We still have loads of stuff in the loft belonging to Conrad. He was a part time DJ when he was young, and has all the decks, records, and stuff up there I have asked him many times to come and collect it, or it will be thrown away. BUT I can't get up there to do it !!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to JAMES, Lets hope he enjoys his day out with friends. Are you getting him a special meal tnight Jane ??? or will it wait till you go to the Pheasant.

I changes my supplier for Gas/Electricty. and now waining for the final bill from old one. Whenever that will be.

Nice bright sunny morning here, bit cold. Neighbour has her washing out. That will be there till after dark this evening, or even all night if she forgets it.LOL LOL

Nothing planed for today, was going to ring the nurse to get my ear looked at, but to late for an appointment today. Must remember to do it tomorrow.

Morning All and Happy Birthday James.

Another dull day here and I have to go shopping to Bideford. Don't think I could go and see War Horse at the pics as I would be sure to howl my head off. I shall wait till it comes out on dvd or the telly I think...........

Bin day here and it is the first time oh has put them out since Christmas as it has been so windy in previous weeks and it all blows up the road. Bins and all for the recykling (sp).

Did 'nt get any ironig done yesterday!! Must try today and put some washing in too. It is so mild here at the moment it is uncanny. The calm before the storm??? I hope not.. :-) :-) :-) :-)

Owls were out and about yesterday night once again but they were'nt quite so close as the other night and not so many of them but perhaps it was a little later. We had funny clouds in the sky last night and the moon was shining through them. It was so weird. I tried to take a pick with my new camera. Lots of just black ones but one that came out quite good. New camera does'nt have a little bit to look through you have to look at the screen on the back. I am finding it hard to keep still whilst using it but it does have the auto focus thing on it..

Gosh I walked away and did something and forgot to post. :-) :-)

Friday was the busiest it has been for ages ..Another lady who has been there the longest lost her top and got our head lady down from the office..She thinks she is Top dog but doesnt work very fast.. A nice big row there was. I said to the office lady its about time I considered handing my notice in..my contract has to be renewed in March if I stay..Top dog said about her notice too...

Watch this space..lol..

Morning all,

Happy Birthday to James ,hope he has a good one .

Hurt my back in this morning, just bending over to fish some thing out of the recycling bin ,i felt it go !! we had a paper come through the door for a two for one on a cinema deal and i had thrown it away ,that's why i was going through the bin !!
Now my back has seized up ,its so stiff and i hardly dare move , but i make my self get up every so often ,it's a problem getting up and down on the loo!!
goodness knows how i will sleep tonight .

Cloudy day here only had a little sun first thing ,now really dull and looks more like rain.

Mandy you take things a bit easier now and give that back a rest. It is awful when the old back goes, is'nt it. I sometimes walk around bent and have to get straight very slowly. You obviously know what I mean.Take care.

Sun came out for a brief visit here this morning too. While I was ironing..... yes I have done my bit for the day. A few shirts and some tea towels and one of my tops. Not much but better than nothing.
