What a lovely tree Fitz has Jane!! Beautiful!!

You must be psychic Kim. I had a dreadful night last night, cough, cough, cough. Didn't get any sleep till about 6.00am (neither did OH!!). Streaming cold now too making my ears itch deep down as well as making my throat tickle all the time and feel swollen when I try to cough. I have a pile of pillows as lieing propped up seems to help a bit and have spent nearly all day in bed dozing when I can. All I fancied to eat was tomato soup and lots of warm drinks. I have just got up for an hour to potter about and then will be watching Great Expectations in bed. I think our Xmas gateaux will be in the freezer till New Year!! lol Hopefully I will get more rest tonight and start feeling a bit better soon. Pat.....get your mask on if your daughter is bringing a cold!!!!!! lol
I remembered you saying about your little grandson, it was such a shame losing him like that.

Well done getting a sale for the exercise bike Frank.......a bit more space cleared!! I bet young Lewis will be plotting what to wrap up for you another time!!

Mel, I can never get to grips with all the camera or my mobile instructions either. Mine has some sort of software you should load but I don't use it. I even use the picturecards and plug them in the pooter to download rather than use the cable. We bought a new Wii game this year and the controls are so complicated we haven't got the hang of them at all yet!!

Conrad and Jane SKYPED us from Torquay this morning, they were just off for a walk along the seafront/harbour. Bet that was bracing and got them ready for lunch. They come home Thursday, and we go up on Saturday for New Year and a few days.

Everything will get back to normal now till Saturday. Then all off again. :-) :-) :-). Be glad of a rest !!!

Dentists this afternoon and Ive had a sore throat and start of a chest infection for a couple of days.

Spent the WHOLE of yesterday evening watching 'Pride and Predjudice (for the umteenth time!) so will have to watch 'Great Expectations' today, in readiness for tonights episode. Christmas went well, no upsets or illness. Quite glad it's over though, never a very good time for us. Have got tiny snowdrops in the garden, time for looking forward to better things.
That certainly was an amazing tree Jane, must have taken quite a bit of time to decorate!!! Hope all of you with colds etc feel better soon.

Harvey and Julia, bought me some Kalvin Klie# Trackie/ loungers bottoms. Which I have put on this morning with a tee shirt from Egypt, from our World Travel. very comfortable I am too. !!!
Ros has poped to Hobby cra## for some bead thread. Julia has broken a necklace, and Ros said she would re-thread it for her. It's close to Matala# So I suppose she will have to have a nose round there too.

Liz, I haven't looked for snowdrops yet. I have put hundreds in over the last few years. So should get a good show when they are ready.

Glad Hannah's friend is O.K. Jane, That would be the last thing you would want, an extra problem with a head injured guest. Travelling back and forth to Hospital. Has Hannah gone home to. ????

The first three months of the new year always brings back lots of sad memories. and happy ones. Jan 30th Daughter born, Father died, MIL died. I was called up to National Service March 17th. Wouldn't have missed it, but for the fact I was the only one at home with mum, and only six weeks after we burried DAD.

Liz I'm glad you had a good Xmas with no upsets :-).I don't think we have any snowdrops peeping yet.It is so mild though.I'm really warm.
Just dropped Hannah at the station.She arrived with a small case and has to borrow a big one to go back lol.But I had to give her money for a Taxi for the other end as the case is so heavy and she doesn't think there is a lift at Finsbury Pk tube.She would have had to get 2 tubes and a bus after arriving at St Pancras :-S.So now I have stripped her bed and getting that ready for the next guest this afternoon.I'm quite looking forward to getting back to a quiet life .But it has been a good Christmas this year
I'm going to get changed into some old comfy clothes now and then make my lovely Normandy Pork Casserole ready for tonight.

Hello everyone,

Just finished a game of Scrabble, the old boy won tonight :-( Not much happening here at all. Good to get Christmas out of the way!!!! I have been watching old episodes of "Just Good Friends" all afternoon. Paul Nicholas, isn't he scrumptuous!!!!!!!! It has been pretty windy for days, beaches are closed and the surf is huge. Not a good start to the tourist season, but people still persist on swimming and then get into trouble.

Annx hope you are picking up a bit. I was going to send you an email yesterday, but figured you might be in bed and not needing messages. Take good care.

Well it is a bit brighter here today and we have a little sunshine which we have'nt seen for 4 days.

Cleaned the chickens out yesterday as they were so wet even though I have been putting straw in their house. Makes it harder to clean out too as it gets very heavy.

Just wrote a load and touched the mouse slightly and lost the lot.

Did a lovely lunch yesterday and it did not please oh at all. I heated up the sausage rolls and that did'nt please him and we have had words. Seems I have been sent to covertry............

Forgot to say I hope the cold is over soon Ann. It is horrid to be uncomfortable at this time of the year. Hope things settle down soon and that the throat is not so tickly today. I hate it when you get itchy ears as nothing seems to satifsy it. Really horrid.

I'm no further on with this casserole.Just browning the meat.Fitz turned up just as I was about to start.So I got him to chop the onion and peel the Shallots lol.Gave him a glass of wine while he did it :-D.
He has gone now ,and James and Jess are out so it's just me and the dog(lovely)for a wee while.

Chris is back at work today.I bet it will be busy :-S.Up at 5.30 this morning :-S.I really don't know why he has to set the alarm for that ridiculous time.6am would be fine.

Have given up trying to tidy up in here.I don't think it will be clean and tidy now until after New Year.I know Mark won't even notice when he gets here.(great for me ).I love guests that I don't have to make an impression on.I think we will be having a very in depth conversation over dinner tonight about his sister (Rachel).I know he wants to go and see her.But I think it is just best for the moment that no -one goes to visit them in Dubai.

Re Fitz's Tree.....He does the lights and then Georgette does the decorating.I think this is the best tree they have had in a long time.I think Georgette said it took her 3 days to get it right.It really is amazing :-D
Right back to doing this casserole now .

DIL is off to the hospital for her first scan this afternoon , they are calling in later with the scan photo , won't know the sex of the baby till the next scan though.

Time for a cuppa.

There was me looking forward to a minute or two to myself.The phone rings and it's my neighbour whose freezer has just gone phutt.Did I have any room in mine?????.Well after moving things around from shelf to shelf and squeezing things up I have just about made room for her most important things.It's not a good time at Christmas hoping for spare room in someones freezer lolol.So it went in and then we stood in the kitchen while I was just getting to grips with this B******* casserole.So she had a glass of Red and me a White.I have now had 3 :-D and Mark isn't even here yet .He should be here in an hour.Have finally got his bed ready and cleaned the bathroom Just a quick wipe around).Think I need a lie down :-D :-D

No, Kim, I don't think Prince Phillip will be going hunting! He's never been into that, it's much more Prince Charles's COT. Prince Phillip is a leading light on the shooting front, particularly on Boxing Day but alas, not this year. I think R&R is the order of the day for that particular 90 year old! Bought the latest Simon and Garfunkel CD this afternoon, good songs that I'd almost forgotten, really takes you back. Sorry about your sad memories Frank, they seem so much more accentuated at Xmas. Soon be Spring, sunny days and FLOWERS! makes everyone feel much more cheerful.

Liz, The spring/summer is my time of the year.

As soon as the sun comes out with warmth in it, I am in my shorts. either pottering around the garden, or sitting/lying reading my Sony E book. I do take the sun well, and get a nice tan. Not all over I must say. It wouldn't be allowed, and I don't want to scare the neighbours.

I was very much into Simon and Garfunkel, in fact Conrad is going to download one of their records for me, Then I can listern to them on my computer. Years ago I would have their record on, and sit with my earphones on, singing along to them. Ros would say. "SHUT UP" you can't sing.

Jane the way you are going you will be tidderly before your guest arrives, and who knows what the casserole will turn out like, if it gets in the oven !!!!

Daughter left 2 hrs ago for home arrived safely ..She lives Hayling island.Took her longer to get here....Beds were stripped and washed this morning before we went to visit her grandparents...My exhusbands parents...Still keep in touch.... THe weather was good managed to get them dry..Have another load on now.

Off to my youngests sons in Dover tomorrow.Another 2 hour drive for us..

Having 5 minutes on here with a cup of tea.Have had a quick tidy up..
I will have to check my freezer soon to see what I still have in there..
I cooked dinner before they left ..Will have whats left in fridge lol..

Hubbys just put bins out for tomorrow tempertures really dropped now here..Biting wind.. just over 6 degrees now..

Son has just arrived with the scan photo , i was looking at the baby when i noticed it had another name at the top of the photo ,the surname was the same but it had the name Laura at the top and when i looked at the other scan photo's of sons other children the number at the top which i suppose is DIL's hospital number was different !!! so i think we're looking at some one else's baby not theirs !!!

I'll ring son later and see what they think ,i did say to son that's not DIL's name at the top, he said well it looks like the scan photo they took , but all baby's look the same at that early stage .

Mandy that sounds a bit funny to me. I wonder if anyone else has the wrong name at the top!!

We aare now talking. It was only because I warmed up the sausage rolls and he dos'nt really like hot food. Mind you I did leave them a bit too long and they were well done by the time I remembered. I shall have to buy some more sausages and make some more. Thing is he will eat cold pastry and then gets indigestion!!!! Out with the Rennies......
