ANN ! We have those ice gripper things that go on the bottom of your shoes.
I can't get to grip with them lolol.Yes they stop you slipping on ice ,but don't seem to grip your shoes properly .I just had a little trial the other morning on the patio. The one strap that comes with them is not enough .I found the front bit flapping and the back part that hooks onto the back of the shoe kept slipping off.So not a happy bunny with them :-S :-S :-S

Annx

Annx Report 20 Dec 2011 22:01

The ones I looked at didn't have a strap Jane. You poked your toe in at the front, then pulled the back bit high up on your heel. Mind you, these 'one size fits all' things might be loose on a smallish foot mightn't they. Don't want to be going A over T do we?? !!!! ;-)

I'm off to beddy byes now.....get a few winks in before that flippin' alarm goes off. Night, night xx

Morning All
Well what a plonker I am.Ann I think I was going wrong with the ice grippers as I wasn't putting the front of my shoes in the slot :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S.I must have another go lol

Gas Man here at the moment .Typical isn't it .I thought he wouldn't be here until later this morning so had my shower ,washed my hair. Then missed his call on the phone saying he would be here in 10 minutes ,as I had the hairdryer going. So got a shock when the doorbell went.Chester was still in the land of nod on the bed .He is now shut in the study no doubt crossing everything ;-).I will give him a good walk as soon as this chap leaves.

Dull and grey here .

Morning Jane

Workmen arrived at 9. 20 this morning , getting later and later every day, But because I don't know exactly what time they will arrive , I am up between 8 & 8.30 am every morning , this morning I could have have stayed a bit longer in bed :-S

Just a few bits of hand washing this morning to do. Daughter no 1 gave me Sofia's little white sparkly cardigan yesterday, She had dropped what looked like chocolate on it.
It can go in the machine but I like washing her little jumpers by hand, then lay them out flat to dry.

Time for the second cuppa of the day. and then to have a look in the wardrobe to see what I am putting on for my Christmas lunch . I was out a bit earlier to open the garage for the workmen so they can get to the electric supply and the weather was damp but quite mild,

Thought I would change my photo for Christmas, so I put up my tree.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Dec 2011 12:17

No news on Robby Frank. One did come to me yesterday out by the west wall but I think it was a little female. She sat in the bushes and went down to worms I threw on the ground.

This morning I tried and called for him and he came to the holly tree behind the big chicken house and came down to the roof as I threw the worms on there.

The weather has turned much milder here but is now wet too. I stand a better chance feeding them from my hand when the weather is very cold and they are hungry.

Problem I have at the moment is that oh bought himself a tub of fat sticks yesterday at the garden center and he puts loads out at once and they are what I tempt Robby with. Always have some in my pocket when I go round to the chickens and leave some on the gate posts.

I have ordered those ice things for your shoes through the Kleeneasy man. Oh calls him Father Christmas as he has white hair and a long beard!! He and his wife are giving up the round at Christmas. I hope they pass it to someone else.

Hi Di Hi :-)

LOL Jane.......maybe I will get some ice grippers after all then!! I think I am going a bit batty lately. I sat in the car this morning and for the life of me couldn't remember which stick the indicators were on!!!!!

It was just like the old work days this morning, OH clattering around and bringing me a cuppa before he went out this morning. He said when he got to his parents house, they were nowhere near ready and he had to jolly them along. The hospital appointment went very well and it is a slight bladder prolapse MIL has, not womb as she had assumed. They said it is so slight as to not cause any of the problems she has had. She told OH she knew that was not the problem, yet it was because she was convinced it was that she got the doctor to refer her for it to be checked again!! Her doctor had also halved the dose of her water tablets as she said they didn't 'suit', but because they were the same tablets, unknown to us she had just stopped taking them altogether!! They ticked her off at the hospital as it will affect her BP and so she is going back to her doctor now. I said to OH that he must have the patience of a SAINT!! She really is silly with tablets, often just stops them like that without going back to the doctor. She has medication for osteoporosis and was going to stop that a while ago. Luckily she asked the doctor about that and he told her she would end up in a wheelchair if she did.

OH is a lot better today.......being cheeky so that is a good sign!!

It is lovely that Robby is back again Mel. You must get your OH to take a pic.

A couple of errands to do now so BBL. :-D :-D

From all the people who have a Kindle I have only heard good things so might treat myself in the new year, but same as Jane, I like a 'proper' book. I like the idea of the big print though.

Was really getting in the Christmas spirit the other day, wrapping presents with a Christmas CD blaring out didn't finish though as son and family turned up. Finley is repeating the last word of whatever you say now. His big sister was being really grouchy and he kept shouting 'go way' at her waving his arms.

David, wishing you and Ellen a very happy Christmas in your new home :-) <3. A happy christmas to Liz too ..... <3. Not long to go now, the run up seems to have gone a bit too smoothly, ever the pessimist.

My friend had some of those grippers Ann, she said they worked really well

Yet again it is now late in the day and I haven't done half what I planned. :-S.I have so much to do and now not a lot of time to do it all in.
I know Frank James said exactly the same thing lol.He said I'm getting old!!!!!!!.Cheeky B****r.Daft as a brush.I told him just wait, you don't know what's in store for you ,then told him to 'stick it in his pipe and smoke it' ;-).Remember that expression.I haven't heard that in a while.

I couldn't understand why I was so hot just now, then had a look at the thermostat it was on 28 :-0 :-0.The nice 'young man' has hopefully sorted the pump out but must have turned up the dial when he was doing stuff.I felt I was just about to expire :-S :-S.Have turned it down now .Bet Chris will say it's chilly in here ;-)

Tes** was a mad house this morning.Got some more bits and pieces and that was almost a £100 :-0 :-0.Chris is going to Waitr*** in the morning so I will craftily leave my little list of the fresh stuff I still need.Hair cut for me in the afternoon. It's driving me nuts now as it is too long and lost it's shape.

Ann your MIL sounds quite a difficult lady for the Dr's.Imagine if she was Chris's patient !!!.
I need to get the ironing board out :-S as I promised James I would iron a pair of Jeans and couple of shirts for him ready for tonight when he goes off to stat with Jess and her parents..Must away for now .BBL

Afternoon all,

Just looked at the clock, thought it was later.

Poor old Shirl, She's having an age thing !! poor soul. :-) :-) :-) I wonder what she might be suggesting gets STUFFED NOT MEEEEE. I hope.

Ros went off as I said this morning to see the old friend. She's 92 and went to Venice on Holiday a few moths ago Hope for us all still !!!

I have spen t about 3/4 hours in the kitchen. When Ros went out I thought I would start on things,

1.Made Red cabbage in balsamic vinigar, fennel seeds, apples and red onions.
2. Topped 2 bags of brussel sprouts (little ones)
3. Topped and tailed two bags of shallots.
4,Parred a dozen Parsnips.
5. topped and peeled two bags of baby carrots.
6. Peeled loads of potatoes, some for roasting others for Mash.

Meat out of freezer will prepare that tomorrow morning, get it in the oven for a very slow cook. If I find it's cooked before hand, I can always warm it up later.

DAVID AND ELLEN. A very Happy Christmas from me also.

Lewis has gone home for a "Sleep over" at his friends. Arranged some time ago.
I was going to do a steak and all the trimmings, but Ros fancies F & C from our little Chinese Man in Towcester. So an easy time for me tonight.
