That cheered me up no end Frank to hear puss has had a reprieve. If I'd listened to the vet Alfie wouldn't be here today and we would both have missed out on a lot of cuddles.
Daughter and partner had their Christmas do last Friday so I looked after Harry. He certainly likes his food. Just kept opening his mouth everytime he saw the spoon coming. He was as good as gold and slept for most of the evening.
Never a dull moment with your Beryl is there Sheila, poor old Larry, sounds like he was just a stop gap till Donnie came back.
I bet you're looking forward to the new porch Fiona, the old one doesn't look that bad, it's just a bit dated.
I bought an artificial tree in the end, it's brilliant. Stands up straight, no leaning and it doesn't droop when you put decorations on it and I won't be constantly hoovering up pine needles, then I can pack it away and bring it out again next year.
So cold again today, I hate having to go out in the evenings with the ironing when it's cold and dark.
Hope your elbow is not so painful today Mel.

Maureen, that was quick. I turned it round and sent it again. Couldn't find it first time :-D :-D :-D I would think the tree is nearer 7ft. Still got to put the fairy on top. We bought it over 20 years ago, and as I said all the branches which are numbered slot into the trunk. It's been great, and will last our life time !!!!
Old puss, is round my legs, I think he is telling me he's hungry. Still got some cold lamb to cut up for him, also found a tray of Chicken liver in the freezer, so will cook that for him later.
Not a lot to read about, It seems we have all had the same trouble today Only four before me and that was 3.00pm.
Hope you are all connected now so you can have a good natter !!!!.

Evening everyone. Thanks Sheila and Mandy.2 more lovely cards :-D I have been feeling a bit iffy squiffy today :-SDon't know why.I was fine when I went to town then gradually felt a bit dizzy and just off.So my plan was to come home have a little lunch and do nothing.Well just after lunch Fitz turned up in a right old tiz.His Mother had a wet bed again and he couldn't use his washing machine as the septic tank is full to bursting and he is waiting for Dyno Rod to do something before it can be emptied (or something). He had a massive bag of bedding ,nighties, dressingown undies etc, plus his Marigolds lol, begging the use of our machine. He is just about at breakdown point I think .I told him he can't go on like this and they need to get more help in for his Mum's needs.I hate seeing him like this.
Your post made me laugh Sheila about Dick 'Willie Strong :-D.You must get some Characters in your shop.
Glad Puss is eating well Frank and wanting a fuss.I can't seem to get any emails at the moment so haven't seen your tree.I don't know what the problem is.James or Chris will have to have a look for me.
I just put the Wheelie Bin out and see we have had some rain! Just need to and mash the spuds.

Oh poor Fritz Jane we both know what it's like looking after elderly incontinent parents, He really needs to get in touch with Social services and get some more help as you say. Our local social services department provide incontinent pads & rubber sheets
Phoned up the office about the builders and was told that the job probably won't get done this week due to the weather the builder lives in Alloa which is on the east side of Scotland , near the fourth Bridge Clackmannshire, and the snow is bad there. ( I live on the West side of Scotland) I am to carry on doing what I have planned for the rest of the week and just wait for a phone call from the Architect.
Thanks for reminding me Jane , Household rubbish bin collection for us tomorrow.

Gosh I have only just been able to get on here after trying many times during the day. I also had to get in through the error page which kept coming up. I jjust double clicked on the GR sign at the top of the Error page and bingo got in.
Finished two wreaths today and started the next one.
We have had two calls from the solar people today. One saying I had'nt paid the right amount and I then told her we agreed that I would pay 30% and then the 60% when the job was up and running. Then we had a call to say the rods and clips were coming today.......We are still waiting............
Then I think we had a call to say they were coming to fit the panels on Thursday but I have had so many different people calling I can't remember what each one said!!!!! :-S
Thanks for the card Sheila, it is really beautiful and thats what I call a REAL Christmas Card and something I shall keep forever and which will go up each year. It is sitting right in front of me on my desk in front of my pooter screen and twinkling away.

How's the Elbow Mel ? Might be an idea to keep a bit of paper and a pen by the phone so you can make a note of all the calls to do with the panels :-D.Just a thought ;-)
I really must delve into the Christmas Decoration boxes and bags tomorrow. Frank that tree looks so nice.I think I might invite Ros to come and decorate mine :-D
Chris is late tonight .I thought he might have been home by now.Maybe it is his turn to stay until 6.30

We have had a lot of rain this evening. Ros popped up the doctors in her slippers and came back with wet feet. She has another 5 pairs so soon got into a pair.
Poor old Fitz, Can't you have a word with Social on his behalf. He must need help, and they are there for this things.
We has a duck stir fry tonight. One of the best Ros has done, we ate the lot.
Hope you are feeling a little better this evening Jane. You must stop going to the pubs at lunchtimes :-D :-D :-D it dosen't agree with you.
Tree decorators rates are quite high this year. What are you prepared to pay ???? Then I will see when she can fit you in. <3 <3 <3
Have had a funny request from Conrad's JAN. She wants to know the FIVE oldest churches in ENGLAND. We can only find three ST. Pancras LONDON 597AD ST. Martins Canterbury 580AD The chapel of St Peter on the wall, Bradwell, Essex. Anyone know the other two. PLEASE.
We must get over to Ros's Mum and Dad's grave. We go every year, give it a clean, and put "FRESH" artificial flowers and a wreath on. No good putting fresh flowers on, they never last long, and some get stolen and put on other graves, How low came some people get !!!! I'd love to catch them !!!
Mel, I hope you get these panels sorted out. only 5 days to go :-0 :-0 :-0

Evening All,
Thanks for your cards Mandy and Mel.......I have a little GR 'group' now!
Glad old 'PUSSKINS' is tucking into his grub Frank and that he slept in the new bed ok. Love your artificial tree, similar to the 2 I have had. The first one lasted 40 years and we only changed it 2 years ago to get a narrower one that was thicker at the top. (easier to get in the loft door too!!) On this latest one the branches are hinged and have the lights already fixed to them so another job saved. :-D Must get it put up soon when I have cleaned through.
I must admit there is nothing like that lovely pine smell from a real tree, but it doesn't sit easy with me seeing the thousands that are cut down each year for the sake of a couple of weeks. :-S Silly old thing!! lol
Maureen, I can just picture little Harry with his mouth wide open like a baby bird!! I bet his little eyes were glued on that spoon too.
Oh no Jane..... Fitz flying in with black bags under his arms looking for a guardian angel to help him out!!!! :-D :-D Nothing worse than the washing machine out of action. It would be good for his own health if he got more help with his mum, give him more peace of mind too.
Sheila I bet Jasper loves April being there if he gets extra nosh coming his way like that!! lol
I have spent the day running errands while OH was at home doing notes. By the time I'd done I was ready for a sit down and cuppa.
Have ordered another book from OH's Xmas wish list.....Britains Forgotten Cricket Grounds........was chuffed as I found it with 40% off.
Better go and get sorted now before we watch the Money programme..........about couples and money this time.......should be interesting. The last one was about people who want to be millionaires and attend wealth seminars. We decided the ones making the most money were those telling you how to do it!!! lol
Night, night and sleep tight, xxxx

I think I will be having an early night, but just going to watch the programme about Children who are different.

Hello everyone,
Your tree has put mine to shame Frank. I think I'll go out and get a few more bibs and bobs to put on it to fill in the gaps!!!! Your puss sounds like he is doing well. Glad you held on and didn't take him to the vet. It's made me very happy that he is still here.
Sheila, yes I was amazed at how quickly the cards arrived over your way. Don't fret yours will get here. Glad Donnie is back he provides endless entertainment on here. I love hearing about their antics, but surely Beryl won't buy him a car. That other fellow was just a soppy fill in - no offence to him, but he didn't stand a chance.
You have a lot of fun and laughs at your place (and dramas too). Don't go for a slide on the baked beans!!!! Mat sounded like a lovely young fellow; you must all miss him so much. We don't have children singing Christmas Carols around here. My father used to go around with his siblings and sing back in the 20's/30's. They really enjoyed it, must have been a wonderful atmosphere.
Good luck with the new porch Fiona. I hope they get started soon. Glad you are putting on a little weight, slowly but surely. I am dropping it off :-(
Mel hope the elbow comes good soon, it is a painful condition. I get it if I use my small weights; I'm supposed to keep my muscles working - use it or lose it :-S Sorry you lost one of your girls, how old was she?? I would never be any good on a farm, would want to keep all the animals as pets.
Seven days into summer and it has been dull, cool and wet. Temp. hasn't got above 19. I don't mind as I can snuggle up on the couch with my cat, but putting the electric blanket on at this time of year :-S The mind boggles.
The funeral for that young fellow killed in Bali is tomorrow. Will be a very sad time for the family and friends. They still haven't caught anyone for that fire on the historical homestead. I can't understand that type of thinking, would go crazy trying.
Hello to everyone else. Have a good day. Will try to come back later to catch up on your posts. 5.12 pm DST

Sorry missed all those last posts, they weren't there a minute ago. The site is really crazy at the moment. I have been replying to yesterday morning's posts. Frank that duck stirfry sounds wonderful. I must get OH onto that. We are having asparagas quiche tonight.
Watched The Bishop's Wife with David Niven, Cary Grant and Loretta Young last night. Beautiful old movie with a special message. Nothing much on tv at all, only repeats of the unrepeatable, lol.
Ann I must google that book you mentioned as my OH would love something like that.
I will try to come back later if the site will let me.

Morning All,
Windy, windy windy here today. Outside not in!!!!!!
A Welsh fellow phoned last night and said that the rods would be coming today as the men had been out since 6am yesterday and had got tired and fed up and returned with our delivery on the lorry!! Nobody has turned up yet.
It is going to be a race against time now and I do hope they can get them fitted in time.
Lovely tree Frank. I must admit that I had to screw myself round to look at the first photo that came though too as Mauree did!! Godd that pus had some more to eat and how is he/she today?
The ground down here is so wet it is unbelievable. The water is'nt soaking in at all. the chicken run is so muddy with the 17 of them all scratching around. Still getting lots of eggs and it is just as well the banties ar'nt laying at the mo.
I have five cards now, 4 from you lot and one from my mums brother and his wife. Must remember to send one to David and his wife in Gozo. He used to work for my dad when he was young and just out of school. Dad gave him some time off and he went to Gretna Green and married his girl who his parents did'nt like. She was older than David. Since then he has had two more wives!! He is a lovely fellow and came and saw mum a few years ago and took her out to dinner.
Must away to my wreaths now.
See you all later if I can get into the site again! :-| I had to get in via the Error page again.
