I've got my old mum's here if he needs a lend. Sorry, not talking about it!!!!!

Frank Report 28 Nov 2011 11:44

Oh dear, Mel. I have zipped up my mouth.

Old Jack Frost poked his nose in last night. The roofs, lawns, cars were covered this morning, and it wasn't that early. !! All gone now, and clouding up. COULD BE "SNOW" only joking.!!!

Morning Kim, I see you had to get your pennies worth in. !!!I don't know what I would do if mine broke.

When we sorted out FIL draws after he died, we found loads of false teeth and pair of glass's. He would collect them from people who had passed away. How could you think of putting someone elses teeth in your mouth. Not that they would fit anyway AHHHHH

Bill, my Dad was in the Port of London authortities in the 2nd World war. To old for active service did his bit in the WWi Gunner on the battle ships. I digress. He would bring home BLOCKS of soap which we cut bits off when we needed it. Mum would use it on Mondays on the scrubbing board. to get the collars clean, we used it to wash and bath in. It was so strong it coluld take your SKIN OFF :-0 :-0 :-0 None of this Cama# and purfumed soap. in those days.

Jane that Pears soap was the first present I bought for a girl when I was 13. She needed a wash!!!

I bet you girls remember "GORDON MOORES" toothpaste that turned your gums pink, to make your teeth look whiter.

Nothing planed for today, so it will be my book, and a bit of Tele.

See you later.

Morning All,

Oh, I see Mel, keeping Shtum here then...... :-) :-)

My back is really slowing me down........fancy wrenching it when there is so much to do!!! OH had to put my socks on today and the painkillers have eased it a bit the last hour or so. If we'd got stairs I think I would have stayed up them today.

OH has gone to do some shopping.......what a palaver and only a dozen items. I don't think he notices anything when we do it together! All questions.....'where's this, where's that' ........tut, tut, not been paying attention!! I'll have to send him more often. He lived on his own for 8 years and did his own shopping as well.

Well at least I can write some cards today and catch up on some recorded tv. We were going to the cinema, but I will seize up if I sit for more than half an hour and will take ages to straighten up!!

Hope you are feeling ok Kim and that your puss is getting better.

It was me that mentioned the PEARS soap Frank. I don't remember that Gordon Moores toothpaste. The first toothpaste I had was Punch and Judy toothpaste and I think the toothbrush head was Mr Punch's head! I think it was pink though.

Morning, sorry Mel I couldn't resist. Not funny at all. My grandmother also had a drawer full of old teeth - all hers. They were so old, I'm not surprised the Tooth Fairy didn't want them!!!

Sunny day here and all the washing is dry.

Jane I used to love Pears soap and shampoo. Sorry to hear that all is not well with Rachael and her husband. It doesn't sound good and that poor little boy in the middle. Hope Chester has fun with his girlfriend today ;-)

Ann, puss is not eating much and is looking a bit frail. I was well out of favour when I put flea treatment on her the other day. Sometimes I can get her to play, but she looks like she has run out of puff most of the time. Sorry your back is paining. My OH often has to put my socks on for me on a bad day. Rest up and don't do anything silly. What will you be making this week at your class?

I'm glad you liked the photos of Jezzie. I'm sure she will keep them on their toes :-) They have been looking for a little dog for months now. She will be much loved and very spoilt.

Popping out to the couch now. Have a good day everyone. 11.15 pm DST

When I was a child I can remember toothpaste in a tin called Gibbs SR. It was pink and you rubbed your brush on the hard paste, and then cleaned your teeth! You could also get a board game called Gibbs ???(can't remember) which was a toothpaste version of Snakes and Ladders!! designed to encourage us all to brush and look after our teeth. The goal was to get your counter to the Pearly Castle first!! Have spent the morning searching around for car insurance as ours has shot up! any ideas would be gratefully received!!! MUST finish those Xmas Cards!!!

Frank Report 28 Nov 2011 15:50

Liz, Go onto the Comparethemarket.com/moneysupermarket.com /directline/churchill/ They all offer good Insurance. Who are you with now ????

There was another old tooth powder. Eurcrile I think it was called. White powder in an oval tim. The same shape as the old Solid Brilliantine tins. If you remember that. When I say SOLID I mean SOLID Had to rub your fingers over it to soften it, then plaster down your hair. ;-) ;-) ;-) ready for Saturday night at the local dance. Thought we were the bees knees !!!

Kim, It's funny how your cat has gone. When I gave mine a flea treatment, he went off his food and started sleeping in all different places around the garden and bungalow. Hasn't really been the same since.

Poor old Ann, you have really been in the wars again. You must rest up, or you will be bad for Christmas. ONLY 27 days to go !!! In case you need reminding. :-D :-D :-D

Mel, How are the layers ?? and is the Roof complete now ???

Jane Report 28 Nov 2011 16:24

Brrrr! hasn't it been chilly today.Thick frost this morning .Everything was white until about 10am.
All those toothpastes in tins were disgusting spit! spit! spit!I remember the pink one.I thought it was Euthymol.

I have a nice Beef Casserole cooking nice and slowly.I just remembered to pick a couple of Bay Leaf and some Thyme from the garden. All I need to do now is Mashed Potatoes and some sprouts.

How is that back of yours this afternoon Ann?Have you any of those heat patches?

Another Xmas card has just dropped through the letter box. Thanks Shirl !

I have been waiting for Arg** to deliver a bookcase today. We are taking it to Hannah on Saturday. No sign of it :-S :-S

Well, just lost my post as soon as I submitted! Bother!

Mum and dad used Eucryl Toothpowder in the small tin. It was to remove stains on the teeth for smokers. You can still get it but the 'tin' is plastic now. I remember it was very gritty on your teeth!! Yuk.

Just got your card today Shirl, thank you and I love the Kate and William stamp on it!! lol

Jane I couldn't face the shower this morning so I will be putting a patch on after I have one tonight. OH is at a meeting and I want him here in case something 'locks'. lol I hope it is eases by Thursday.....as OH said how will I get into the dentist's chair in this state.......I was more bothered about getting out of it!! It is very Brrrr here now and I have put the heating on.

Kim, I have been joining you on the couch a few times today! I was thinking what Frank said about flea powder and I'm sure I read something a few days ago that said don't think because you always use the same flea powder it won't cause a problem because the manufacturers change the ingredients. I hope both you and puss feel better soon.

Liz, I use the sites Frank put up and you can usually save quite a bit. Have you told your insurance company your new address as some postcodes are cheaper!! Our postcode here changed after a couple of years and our insurance went down even though it is the same property and in the same place!

Jane, I am sending a PM.

Thanks Frank for the info. We were with the NFU. We've done ALL our Insurance through them for years, but apparently they charge more because they offer a Personal Service! Well, that's all very nice (and it IS) until PS outweighs expense!! I have approached Churchill, and also RIAS, and RIAS came out on top. The chap rang us and talked at great length (!!) and we have managed to cut Churchill by £29, and the NFU by just on £100!! We seem to have spent most of today sorting out one thing after another, BUT, after our 'bad experience' everything now has to be checked and double checked. You live and learn. all your life I would say!!!

Shirl I remember when I was a Nurse ,and was doing my stint on the Geriatric ward. One of the nurses collected everyone's false teeth on night to clean them, but put them all in the same bowl without thinking. It was quite a job sorting them all out in the morning to get them to fit into the right mouths :-S :-S
