It's like a chinese laundry in here, got so steamed up with the ironing and felt too cold to open the back door. Just finished.

Not even 4 o'clock and it's getting dark already, I suppose it's this dreary weather.

I could do with some action trousers ...... the kids have started calling me super gran ......... I didn't think to take photos of the house, son might have taken some on his phone then I could take some 'after' photos. I just hope nobody was watching me demolishing the shed, my trouble is I don't know if I'm left handed or right, the hammer didn't sit comfortable in either and I hit my hand instead of the shed once that was okay but I wasn't happy with all the spiders that came running out of cracks and crevices ........ they were big .........

I only pay the standard for Genes yearly, you must be paying too much Mandy if you pay that twice yearly.

Chester did have a 'do I really have to go out in this coat' look and what a bargain Jane the coat for your son's girlfriend.

I always have a problem getting the flea treatment on the cats, they have quite dense fur and it's hard to keep hold of them, part the fur and get the stuff on. Like the new photo Kim, is that you, you look different.

What are you making in your class this week Ann.

Patricia Report 8 Nov 2011 16:11

Mandy we will be having Shepherds pie tonight as well when I start it lol

My hubby had to knock a nail in before the bedroom carpet was laid and went though the water pipe..be careful...

Frank Ross will be busy when her wool arrives..

Jane ...The fire that keeps burning I bet you are fed up with it now....

Hubby in soon must go and start dinner now

Well I had to go up the ladder again this afternoon which stopped me ironing. I have'nt done much at all :-|

Have you lot opened the email from Shirl about onions. I did know that you should'nt use an onion that has been cut and left even in the fridge because they attract any bacteria. But it makes you think about what you are eating when you go out :-(

For anyone has'nt seen it just let me know and I will put it on the thread.

OH has just come out in the kitchen and seen some crumpets I bought this week and forgot to put in the freezer. Of course now he wants crumpets which means I shall have to have one too. :-(

I don't like pheasant Mandy lol.Just to look at.They are such daft birds,no wonder there are so many that get killed on the road here.I remember one year there was one outside our house.I picked it up and brought it in and the Dad of one of James friends came and took it to put in his freezer

Pat I am more than fed up now with this blooming fire as are the rest of the community. It is 4 weeks today now :-S

Maureen Chester has just been out in his coat.James took him down the footpath to the back field and apparently almost came face to face with a deer !

Mel what kind of noises do Deer make? The last few nights we have been hearing the most strange sound.I keep thinking it is something in distress, but as I keep hearing it I am guessing it is a normal sound.

Tomorrow I am off to the pictures in the morning with Fitz .I don't think we have been since about Easter time.I think the film is 'One Day'.Then in the afternoon it is my day to give blood.I haven't been for so long ,I feel rather guilty. At least I know there won't be any trouble finding my vein.My blood fills the bag in just about record time. :-D
Thursday it's hairdressers (hooray)
Friday,Chesters stitches out
and Saturday I am going to spend the day in London with Hannah.I'm looking forward to that.James will take me to the station for the 9.30 train and I'll get the 5.30 one home.(I think I might have already told you this) :-S

Pasta tonight.I keep thinking it is Monday, and don't know why :-|

Ann..I have been linedancing about 14 years now...But i dont get up for every dance liked I use too lol..I now pick and choose...

I end up taking painkillers before I go to bed...usually...but it is fun..

MillymollyAmanda Report 8 Nov 2011 17:55

Maureen , i've always paid my membership every six months maybe its because you've been a member longer than me,i think i've read on here that others only pay a yearly £9.95.

Jane that noise is probably the Pheasant , they do call out ,and its a heck of a noise when they do it .

Jane

Jane Report 8 Nov 2011 18:05

Pat .it's not the pheasant. It's quite a different noise. It's a bit like a CAWCAWCAW.Like a crow sounds but it's not a crow lol,and it is cominf from the direction of the back field.James wondered if it was machinery from the recycling plant(the fire). But I'm pretty sure it's not
The noise goes on for quite a while then stops and then begins again. It;s bugging me now 'cos I won't to know what it is.It's always seems to be when it is dark.

My friends Dad does line dancing. He is 87 I think. He also does Thai Chi .Pilates and all sorts.Puts me to shame.I remember him when I was a young teen and he just sat in his chair puffing on his pipe and was a right miserable old bu***r.Old age seems to have changed him for the better.Good on him.

My Passat went the journey this afternoon. :-(

Was going to cost as much as I paid for it to put it right. So it was driven away on the back of a wagon and I got £140 for his trouble.

I remember donkeys years ago I got rid of an old Cavelier.I had to phone around to get a yard to take it away for free.

Kitchen still in progress but near completion.Just the walls to finish.
And the rubbish at my back door to be taken away. Some went on a local bonfire on Saturday.

It's just a matter of time.

Jane

Jane Report 8 Nov 2011 18:36

Oh dear David, did you have to have the hankie out.I had my Dad's old Cavalier years ago .It was a gold colour and I loved it.It died and went for Scrap.I think I got £50.
To me a car is just a car.I never get sentimental .Chris was upset when we had to get rid of his old 2CV.But it had to be as it wasn't big enough when we had 2 young children. We then had to get sensible cars ;-)
Good job the kitchen is almost done.Just think by Christmas everything will have been finished and you will be able to enjoy your new home.

Jane it sounds like deer to me as they are staking their territories now and claiming their mates. Badgers can make a strange noise too.

Chicken casserole ronight with carrot onions courgette and mushrooms with rice for oh and a piece of dry toast for me.

Frank Report 8 Nov 2011 20:54

Evening all,

Ros has her Holb# Hospital on, I can't get on with it so looking around the sites. and Ebay.

Very interesting about the onions, The times I use a bit, and wrap the rest in cling film, pop in the fridge to use the next day. Not anymore. I know onions are good for you. We eat them most days, in my cooking. I put various root veg in the pan that I roast my joints in, you gert all the goodness from them into the gravy. We both enjoy a cheese and onion sandwhich, Ros also loves fillet steak and fried onion rolls. The beef has to be thinly sliced. and only just coloured.

We had a nice piece of stuffed shoulder of pork tonight, Roast parsnips, Roast pots, Brussels, peas carrot and runner beans. There is enought meat for me to do something with tomorrow.

Glad everything is coming together at last David, it will be nice when it's all finished.

Mel, I am sorry, I thought Mr Mel, was 68 :-D :-D :-D Don't tell him I said so, he will be up here and smack me across the ear !! But then again I don't suppose he would hit an OLD MAN :-0 :-0 :-0

Jane the olny line I dance is the one coming up the road, after being down the pub. or should I say WALK. Good luck to the old fellow, at 89. I hope I can still walk.!!!

Mandy, It's no good asking me to help Ros, I have never knitted in my life, and I am sure I won't start now ;-) ;-) ;-)

Going to watch a bit of Tele at 9pm so will say goodnight God bless.

Jane

Jane Report 8 Nov 2011 20:55

Thanks Mel.I reckon it must be Deer then.It def is not a Badger noise.
Dinner done ,dishes done and I'm done,so I think it will be an early night.I won't be asleep early but just tuck down with my book.I will need to be up and out reasonably early to walk Chester and be ready to leave for the pictures at 10.15.
So sleep well and sweet dreams everyone .Night Night x

Evening All,

What a wintery day again, drizzle or rain. :-S :-S I think I will have to do some washing tomorrow though and get the airer out in the conservatory.

We were going to see that film last week Jane, but didn't manage it........let me know if it is good. We are hoping to go and see 'The Help' on Thursday, more my thing than OH's, I think it is about life in the past from the coloured help's point of view in America. The deer on that parkland I go to make strange repetetive bellowing noises in the rutting season so maybe it is deer. Having said that, the cattle at the back do similar noises at night at times too.....sound as if they are in distress.

I might have tried line dancing but I don't think my knees would like it these days. Do any of you wear the 'gear' Pat? I have always fancied, but never had, a pair of those cowboy boots!!! :-D

Good to hear from you again Fiona and that you are up to keeping busy doing things that will save you time nearer Christmas. There are always some tasks you can do sitting down. You brought back memories when you said about coughing. I remember after my operation, my coughs were more like huffs to start with so it didn't hurt!!! Are you managing to eat without the nasty reflux now?

David, sometimes we just have to cut our losses even though it is bad luck that that happened with the car.

Tomorrow we are getting a new toilet seat for the bathroom, 10% less tomorrow at B*Q for us oldies!! lol The screws have pulled out of the lid. We have a spare new one in the loft somewhere, as I bought 2 for it when the bathroom was done as it is not a standard size. The ones we have seen look a similar shape though, so we'll try one of those before we look for the one in the loft, as I would sooner keep the spare in case they stop making ones that will fit!!

Ros will be busy Frank, you won't be able to hear anything for the clickety click of her needles!! :-)

I pay the £9.95 twice a year too although they gave us a discount of about £2 last year.

Maureen it is Tiaras or Brooches this week.......I'm ready for either now, still can't decide. OH showed me a picture of Charles and Camilla in the paper today.......they were beading too!! lol

Annx

Annx Report 8 Nov 2011 21:24

Yes. it is a performance posting tonight.

Mr Mel is actually very young looking for his age too Frank!!:-D I thought for a minute there I had tuned into that 10 Years Younger programme!! lol

I have clingfilmed the remains of an onion just for the next day too, although I know you shouldn't 'keep' them. I thought they would be ok as long as you cut off and discarded the cut edges, but maybe not. It has made me wonder about those prepacked salads that have raw onion in?? I knew they were anti bacterial and very good for you and I use them a lot as well, especially the red ones which are supposed to be best.

I think I will be off to bed soon, hope the sniffles and coughs are all on the mend .......nightie night. xx

MEgirl Report 9 Nov 2011 09:25

Morning all. Another hot, humid one here at 30 again.

Fiona hope your soreness is settling down and the appetite is improving.

Mel my elder gentleman is 58 turning 59 in January. Poor old fella!!

Shirl I have trouble getting on here. Log in and then get the error message and it takes so long to get to this point. I have to go page by page for the last 5 pages before I can start typing.

Frank yes I agree. The stupid cow could not even curtsy, would probably fall over in the act. I have never felt so embarrassed as I did when the Queen met our leader. No hat and as casual as you please. Thank goodness the Governor General took the lead. I'm glad to say Her Majesty was a hit with a new generation of young ones and young adults too. Thick crowds everywhere she went. It is such a shame she could not stay for the Melbourne Cup, I'm sure she would have enjoyed a day at the races.

Now we are stuck with a tax that any other government will find impossible to roll back, just because one side of a hung parliament struck a deal with The Greens and a couple of Independants who will most likely lose their seats next time around. She has no mandate for what she has done and I hate to think of what it will do to industry in the future and the cost of living. Lies and deceit more so than anyone I have ever known. Off the soapbox now. Makes your blood boil :-| Your mate is 100% correct. The waste of public money has been horrendous over the last 3 years.

Jane have you worked out what that noise was. We had a terrible racket going on in our bush last night. Screeching, might have been bats or the neighbour's cat could have caught a night bird. I couldn't see anything, but both my cats were wanting to inspect the commotion.

Maureen that photo was taken in 1982. I was bonding with Ziggy my budgie before I went to work. I had to get him out of his cage every morning and talk to him sweetly or he would squawk all day. It seemed to work as the neighbour next door stopped complaining. With both of us at work, he used to get lonely and noisy, apparently.

Hope you all have a good day. Off to try and tackle my tree. 8.22 pm DST

Morning KIm and everyone
Very mild today and still a bit misty but at least not as dark as yesterday.
My OH will be 59 in January too Kim.

I bought 2 toilet seats when we had the bathroom refitted. One is still in the loft .I don't know what we would do if we ever need a 3rd one as it is such a weird shape. It's awful when the seat is loose and you nearly fly off the side :-S

Right I just need to brush my teeth and then off to see the film.BBL

Do you know my bruise on the back of my hand from my blood test has only just nearly gone today! You can still see a yellowish patch.

Good to know you are getting along a little easier Fiona. Take care now and don't do anything too quickly. Hope each day brings you more releif.

Jane out galivanting again I see. Enjoy the film.
