Jane Report 15 Oct 2011 14:36

Well,I got that wrong.I was in As** and Hannah rang to say she is travelling home with her friend in her friends car (not by train). :-S.So I really needn't have gone out at all.Ended up spending £40 lol She is staying overnight Mandy and will go back tomorrow afternoon after she has had MUM"S ROAST :-D
It is absolutely glorious .No smoke our way at the moment so I am going to get that washing out now.Hope I don't tempt fate.
Apparently the fire is the size of a Football pitch!!

Next door had a bonfire this morning :-0 :-0 :-0.I was not impressed.
I had to buy some eye drops when I was out as my eyes have been so itchy. It must be to do with the smoke yesterday.I feel for the people who have Respiritory problems.
Well I will get this washing out and put shopping away as madam should be here very soon.

Afternoon Everybody, been out this morning shopping , OH says to go and cheer myself up and buy some new tops that fit,

Mandy sorry to read little katie is unwell with croup.
Strange you should mention it, Daughter no1 & SIL had to take Sofia to the accident & emergency this morning as Sofia was running a temp of 40, and was finding it hard to breath and was coughing so much she was worn out, the doctor was concerned over her breathing and said she had croup and larengitis(sp) so he has given her some medicine, they were there for 4 hours sitting about seeing this doctor & that doctor,
poor little mite has hardly any voice. hope they all can get some sleep tonight.

MillymollyAmanda Report 15 Oct 2011 16:37

Jane, i suppose your next door neighbour thought a little bit more smoke wouldn't be noticed :-S ....as if you hadn't had enough these last few days !!

Fiona, did shopping cheer you up then ? and did you get any thing nice ? :-)

Sorry to hear poor little Sofia has the croup too as well as Laryngitis , poor little Katie had another bad night , she has such a deep cough, well you could almost call it a bark it is so deep, you fell so helpless with the little ones as they carn't tell you how they really feel.

No cooking tonight , we're having a chinese meal later .

Jane

Jane Report 15 Oct 2011 17:14

It's the season for Croup apparently (so Chris says),It is horrible to hear them coughing like that.I hope both Katie and Sofia soon get over it.I didn't realise it was a seasonal thing.

Mandy ,next door's bonfire wouldn't affect them as it is too far away from their house ,but just at the end of our garden. They seem to burn all their household stuff. And it does stink sometimes :-S :-S.

I haven't had a Chinese for ages .Mmmm! I quite fancy one.

Hannah was wanting to know when both Chris and I could go and visit as Chris still hasn't seen where she is living.Between her full calender and Chris working December 3rd is the first free Saturday !!!
I will go before then on my own.

Jane Report 15 Oct 2011 17:16

Can I find out who lived at a certain address on the census but without a name?

Fiona

Fiona Report 15 Oct 2011 18:18

Hi All
Thats intresting Jane about being the season for croup is that because of the dampness in the air getting on the chest :-

yes Mandy shopping did cheer me up, I have been feeling down and fed up because all my size 8's are now baggy especially T.shirts and blouses , and my jeans and smart trousers are swimming round my waist,

I managed to get a blouse and 2 long sleeved t.shirts and a pair of smart gray trousers in a size 6, from PETITE Ne*t , and 2 pairs of jeans 1 blue and 1 brown, plus a long sleaved nightie for my overnight stay in hospital, I was cold the last time i was there in bed through the day and had to ask for another blanket.

Also managed to get a new winters coat in the Stone colour from Debe*hams , it was in the sale.

Evening All,

Another lovely sunny day......how lucky we are to have weather like this in October! While out I bumped into my old school friend that has the ponies and sheep, but she was on 'double yellows' so couldn't stop. She said she still has her paintings she did when we were at junior school so is going to dig them out so we can have a reminisce!!

I got a nice craft box with moveable dividers today so I can get myself organised properly.

I had to look up the difference between croup and whooping cough. The first is viral and the second caused by bacteria. I remember my sister having Whooping cough when she was about 2 and feeling sorry for her.

Jane the findmypast site has an address search facility. Fancy your neighbour having a bonfire.....you'd think they would be sick of all the smoke by now too! I think you will just be clear of smoke by bonfire night!!

Fiona, there is nothing like a bit of successful shopping to buck you up.......sounds like you did well!!

Jane

Jane Report 15 Oct 2011 19:20

Fiona ,Him indoors say's it;s caused by a virus .A bit like Chickenpox .
Pat ,I have lots and lots of things I know for sure I will never wear again .....but for some reason I hang on to them. How daft is that. There is no way they would go anywhere near me again :-S :-S.It is just that wishful thinking thing :-( :-( :-| :-| :-P :-P
Well I have 2 fed, and both getting ready to go out for the evening. So it is just me and Chris who need to be fed and watered.I'm not keen on Vodka Pat ,but a G&T would go down fine ,especially in the lovely sunshine today. ;-)
Just got all my washing in and it doesn't stink of smoke :-D :-D :-D.The pity is I bet someone else's washing will.

Fiona Report 15 Oct 2011 19:28

Evening all,

My favourite is on T.V. so had a shower and put dressing gown on.

Football, was like watching paint dry :-\ :-\ :-\ But had a couple of pints, so not to bad.

Ros's friend rang me to ask how to cook a rib of beef, she dosen't do a lot of "proper" cooking, but have people comming to dinner tomorrow. I bet in the morning it will be "how to roast potato's" :-D :-D and she is 52/53. It makes you wonder.??

I didn't know croup was an annual thing either, What is the cause of it ??? I always remember mum saying "you have a good bark there son" perhaps that was croup.

Fiona, you sound as though you had a good old sort around the shops, I didn't realise you were so TINY.

Going for a nose round Ebay. see you tomorrow.

Good night all.

Fiona

Fiona Report 15 Oct 2011 21:30

Hi Frank
I did have a good shop, OH is happy when I have had a good shop . then I'm not moaning at him how skinny and boney(sp) I look

I never go out at first planning to buy everything I bring home. as I keep saying to myself don't buy to many size 6 clothes Fiona , but OH says you have to wear clothes that fit you, it will be a long time before I get back up to a size 10

I have lost a lot of weight Frank this time last year I was a size 10, then gradually the weight dropped off with all the worry about my dad, then after dad's passing last Christmas I went down to a size 8 I then put on a few lbs during spring time, and since June and this gallblader problem and I now am on a low fat diet ( it has been over 4 months) the weight has dropped down to 6 stone 9 1/2 lbs,
As you know I am not even 5' so no one else seems worried about my weight but me

OH and daughter no 2 boyfriend been in the garden laying flagstones straight this afternoon, both are very tired, family went home a couple of hours ago and OH has had a shower and gone to bed, they had a bottle of wine with their dinner so OH will be snoreing all night so I think I will be sleeping in the back bedroom,

Well I'm going to take myself off to bed with my book
Catch up tomorrow
night night

Forgot to say I bought a jumper from the charity shop so hense I think it is time to donate another ;-) Jane.

Mandy the cottons are on the way to you now..
That was a good idea Mel.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Oct 2011 22:07

Well it sounds like you had a really good time shopping for your new clothes Fiona. You won't be able to put on much weight once the op is over or you won't be able to wear them.

What poor little ones with those nasty coughs etc. You feel so helpless when you can do nothing but give comfort. I remember when my son was small and we went to Devon for our holiday with mum and dad. He got a bug the second day and he was so ill. Dilerious and sweating all night and I was so tired. Mum had him in their room one night so I could have some sleep but I never did I just had to be there with him. He was only about 2 or 2 and a half. It all stated withj him being sick and we had to take him to the local clinic in Chagford where they gave me some medicine and he had to drink water with salt in it he was so dehydrated.

Off to watch Merlin now on the replay box so will say night night. OH has already gone to bed. He has been fighting all day with the last tree stump, it's huge!!

Morning All,

Not so nice today but still dry at least. Pale grey skies today.

I did'nt realize that Enid Blyton pubilished the first Noddy book in 1949 the year I was born. I had most of the Noddy books. Dad would read them to me. They were all different colours.

Morning everyone,

Lovely sunny day here ,not a cloud in the sky , but we had a sharp frost this morning ,the shed roof was white !!

The family have been here for coffee, in fact they were here before i was even dressed !! i was hoping to get a shower in before they got here ,so i had to quickly get dressed .

You did well with your shopping Fiona, its always nice having some thing new to wear , hope Sofia is feeling better today .

Thanks Pat for the cottons ,i'll look out for them in the post .

All this time and Noddy is still going strong , when you look at the plates, cups and cutlery you can buy for little ones Noddy is still there , Katie has a Noddy fork and spoon set here to use.

Oh, when Jake came this morning he told me the tooth fairy had been in the night !! he has lost one of his bottom teeth.
Cost hubby a bit of money as he gave Jake some money for his tooth ,then he thought he'd better treat them all the same , so they all had some money !!

Off to make some scones now .

Mandy that could work out expensive in the long run!!

What is the tooth fairy paying out for a tooth these days. I suppose it has gone up with inflation.

Just going to do our bacon sarnies for lunch.

Steak tonight nice and easy before Downton.

Lovely day here today, bright sunshine and quite warm! Cleaned the gutters this am as they were completely blocked, and rain is forecast! Apart from that, not done too much, apart from sweep the kitchen floor and make the bed! SIL e-mailed to say that they would be coming by next Monday to see where we are now living and to say 'Hello'. We haven't seen them for ages so it'll be nice to have them here.
