Frank it is awful when you lose fish that you have had for years.I hope you cat has settled down now from its wandering around to find a nice place to sit.
Tracey shame your vegtables came to nothing..I have a small garden so I am not able to grow things..My dad did when I was small.. I liked to pick the peas and eat them out of the shells.
Our fence only just stayed up with the strong winds..I hope you gardeners didnt lose to much.

Morning Pat and All,
So glad you had a lovely birthday Fiona and enjoyed yourself. If you put your flowers in lemonade they will last longer.
Pat was it the nitrate levels that had risen in the pond? I do know that some weather conditions can close the surface of the pond so the fish all come up to the top and gasp for oxygen. If you just run a hose in there from a little height it breaks the water surface and allows oxygen in. We are lucky haveing a large well right up the garden which oh fills our pond with. He is talking about making ours deeper next year. We have one BIG kio and some smaller ones and many goldfish and comets and shubunkins.
Nice car Frank, was it at the wedding recently??
William you go ahead and have a good moan on here thats what friends are for to lend an ear in times of trouble. Hope it all goes off to plan on Tuesday for your wife. Our thought are with her.
Mandy was the cake up to scratch?? I remember once mum tried to make this special ginger cake. I have to laugh to myself just thinking about it. Lol... It came out the oven about a half an inch thick, it was as hard as stone and it must have weighed a ton!!!!!!!!! She never did that recipe again but it did make us all laugh for ages after and came up in the conversation many times in the future. My dad always said "your mother can only cook one colour.....black" He always knew when I had taken cakes over!!!!
I started to watch WDYTYA last night but oh came in and he can't stand it so I turned the tell over. I shall catchup on replay as I was finding it rather interesting.

Shirl good luck for your son and I hope for your sake he manages on his own in the future. Shame you can't get on Skype.. but I know nothing of those things.
Pat when mum was with us and I had to spend a lot of time with her and could'nt do the tunnel I grew lettuces in pots just outside the back door within hearing distance of being called. Also runner beans in big bags so at least I had some of those. I still have the bags outside with the beans in up wigwam canes for easy pickings near the house. I also grow potatoes in big pots for a catch crop so however small your garden is you could grow something but just remember to keep them well watered and fed.

Went round the big chickens a while ago to give them some mash I had cooked. As I went in the run they were pecking away at something and on closer inspection I found they had a lovely bronze sloworm which I quickly snatched up. It was really beautiful and was in lovely condition. I moved it to a place where oh said he had seen some which was under the concrete base of our oil tank. Put her on a piece of wood by the edge and after a little while she went under into the cool.
Have'nt seen one for ages and was really pleased. She or it was about a foot long so fully grown.

Late today I am afraid,
Been so busy, have only just sat down.
I decided to get the mower out to clear all the needle from tree that was covering the front lawn, then decided to mow the back lawn. Ros said she wanted to cut the trees back on the front garden. So out came the saws, and away I went. We filled the wheelie bin within half an hour, so I got the barrow out. That is full to the point I can hardly move it. Have left it on the drive, will try to take it the the allotment tip tomorrow.
The New car is the one from my Granddaughters wedding. It was built by the Chauffer from nothing, not even the basic chassis. He didn't say how long it took or what the cost was, BUT what a BEAUTY. It's based on a 1932 FORD model 31. Whatever that is. I had to have a photo taken with it, hence it's on here.
The cat saga continues, Yesterday, he decided he liked the SHOWER. so spent most of the day in there. Also all night. He came out this morning for breakfast and a drink, and out he went. Looked outonto the Patio, and he's sitting on the table, bdrinking from the bird bath.He is now fast asleep on the Patio table in the sun. I have taken a few photo's. Will try to forward them on to you all.
Will try to read all the post though a little later,
see you all

I've been makeing the most of this lovely weather, have cut the grass, given the decking a good sweep, pulled out the weeds from the front drive, have only just sat down.
Was going to give the house a good clean, but it's a bit late now, you know my motto, always put off today what you can do tomorrow......lol
I must be about two in this photo Mandy. My mum worked at the Pier House Laundry and I went to the nursery there. It was Christmas time and I'm dressed up as a fairy, it's a wand in my hand.
There are a few more celebs on WDYTYA Pat, Robin Gibb next week, Tracy Emmins, (the unmade bed artist !!!!!), Len Goodman can't think if there's anymore.

Thanks Frank and Fiona for the photos. Lovely one of Sofia with her cake. I guess puss is just an old man now and needs his rest and sleep Frank. You must have greenfingers to harvest that many tomatoes, were they all grown in the greenhouse, some different varieties there too.

Forgot had a postcard from Jane with pics of 4 castles on it.
Hi Mel and Everyone. What a lovely place Northumberland is. I wish I had been before, castles galore! Nearly got blown off the cliffs today in the gales! Hadrians wall tomorrow. Brilliant sunshine today - just the dreadful gale. JHope everyone is ok.
Love Jane x

Maureen, Most of the small ones came from that one tomato that we dried the seeds, and got 52 plants, some of the others were plumb tomato's and some money makers. I think the neighbours are getting feed up with TOMATO'S. But we still keep given them to them. They say how sweet they are, and us, for thinking of them.
We will take loads to Rutland this weekend as the Family are getting together to celebrate Ros's birthday for Monday Harvey can take some back to Toddington.
Whens, our Jane back ??? I won't be here Sat/Sun.so give her my love. Will speak to her on Monday. Trust everybody enjoyed this beautiful day, lets hope we get more tomorrow.
When I watered the plants this afternoon, the cat was asleep on the patio table, of course I accidentaly sprayed him, he went of in a huff. :-D :-D :-D. Has just flown in the lounge like he's got a rocket up his bum. I don't know what I will do with him. I wonder where he will sleep tonight. lol lol

Alfie is just Alfie Mel. He's never going to be normal but he's quite happy, he doesn't know any different I suppose. He hasn't grown very much, still looks like a kitten and doesn't seem as strong as before. When he stretches he sits up on his hind legs and his ears fold, he looks like a meerkat, but he loses his balance and falls backwards, if he stretches while on the sofa he will tumble off, but he just picks himself up goes round and round in a circle till he's got his bearings and just jumps back on the sofa ..... stupid cat ....... lol

Evening everyone,
Family all gone home now ,so peace reigns again .
I enjoyed WDYTYA last night ,Henry must have been looking over his shoulder wondering if he would be caught ,i suppose he did help the war effort in the end working at Vickers ,but he was still a deserter after all said and done !! Another one i'am looking forward to is Len Goodman and i think there's also Richard Madeley coming up too .
Mel, the Ginger Cake was good , you made me smile with your Dad saying your mother can only cook one colour and thats black lol Good to know Jane's not got blown away and has had some sun .
Thanks for the photo's Frank, that was a good picking of toms !! i love the little sweet ones ,can eat them like sweets one after the other . Lovely photo of Puss all curled up on the table he carn't be that bad if he can shoot in like a rocket, but you'd move quick if you'd been sprayed with cold water :-S
David , what info do you need on the Lynch family then ? we'll see if we can help if you post it on here .
Fiona, can i see the photo of Sofia with her cake please .
