Morning All.
Dull this morning but not windy or rainy. Just as well as Keith is here to fit the new more powerful bathroom fan and he has to do some of the work outside.
Glad you enjoyed the prog Jane......I'm finding it fascinating. Weren't those flint tipped arrows sharp! I'd always thought they'd be a bit feeble compared with steel tipped ones.
Fiona I love your pics. Your bike was just like my 3 wheeler, same kind of mudguards everything. I remember having a waiscoat similar to David's with my cowboy outfit. Gold lampshade fringing around the edges. You are looking very gipsyish as Jane said. Ginnie looks like she is expecting a treat to appear. lol
Must get on with a few jobs now........BBL

You posting 5 stones has reminded me Mel.........we used to call it 'Snobs' in this neck of the woods. I've no idea where the name came from. The bungalow is like a barn now, doors all open, loft door open while Keith is working. I have just put a fleece on and OH is outside topping up my raised boxes with soil as it settled quite a lot over winter. I can put some onion sets in then.
I was reading in the paper about the chap who stabbed his wife and children and was then found dead on Watermead Park a few miles away and which we went to for the first time last year. We went a few times after and once I walked up to the very secluded bird hide to look inside. I see that is where they found the man who had hanged himself. It must have been an awful shock for whoever found him.
I bet Chris has been a bit lost without his computer Jane.
Well I'd better go and get the men coffees next.

Just found this....
Jacks From Wikipedia,
A set of jacksJacks (sometimes called jackstones, jackrocks, fivestones, onesies, knucklebones, or snobs) is a playground game for children.
The game originated hundreds of years ago, when the only playthings boys and girls had were materials they found near their homes. They collected small stones and animal bones and learned to use them in a game. They tossed them into the air in a way similar to today's version of the game. An older version of the game used five stone cubes made of clay, wood, ivory, bone, plastic, or other substances. The game is usually played with two people. The game originated in Ancient Rome, Greece and Egypt.

We only knew the game as five stones. That what we used. Then one day someone actually had the clay shaped blocks. We would call "CRACK" or "NO CRACK" when you had to pick up the stones. You would throw one in the air, and pick one of the floor. Crack, was when you cracked the two stones together in the palm of your hand, the other you will know. We played it for hours sitting on the pavement outside the house. How do we get the grey matter to bring back all this info.????
All quiet on the "Western front" nothing to report today.
BBL.

Hello Everyone, Today started quite well, the news on the car is good! At last the garage has found out what the problem is for real!something to do with the sensor above the flywheel, which, apparently is intemittently telling the engine to shut down!!! could be tricky! actually it HAS been tricky!! anyway the bit has been ordered and God willing and a fair wind it should be up and running by the W/end!! After that the sun came out and all seemed well, TILL, Ian had to ring the hospital to order some more pads as he's going through them at a fair old rate. Hospital OKish and will send them but not before making it quite clear that they are very expensive and to make sure that they are being used to full capacity!! made Ian feel really 'down', almost making him feel like a greedy schoolboy in the sweetie shop. Not helped by the fact that he's not wearing these wretched things for fun or to waste national health money. He now feels that as he's now 70 he's clearly not any use to the state any more and just a drain on resources. Not good for the morale!! The fact of the health service being short of money is not any of our faults. Doesn't bode well fore the future! Sorry to moan, but it does seem a bit hard! Brushed and combed Millie, so she looks clean and tidy, washed and disinfected Merlin's stable and his yard, so feel quite virtuous! Am going to start supper in a minute, rest of my small piece of Lamb in a casserole tonight, with rice? maybe maybe not!!!

That is disgraceful Liz, I think I would have told them, that I will dry them out in the oven it that will please them. Get in touch with the Doctor and ask that they supply them through the surgery. I know Ros is getting through loads od dressing, but the District nurse just brings more as they are required, no questions asked. What do they think you are doing with them. Putting them in a bath of water just to use them up. Stand up to them my love. We have paid in all our working lives, we are entitled to getting something back !!!! I'm on my soap box now !!

Liz I'm sure they are expensive. But needs must as long as it takes after the op Ian has had. It's not the kind of thing you want to keep ordering if you didn't need them.Maybe they think he is stockpiling them lol.How dare they make him feel bad.Not good enough I say. Not a very nice day. It's been very gloomy.I have lit the fire again just to try and cheer the place up. Chris is happy now he has his main computer back.He said it it hadn't still been under guarantee it would have cost £500 to repair !!!.He has evening surgery tonight so will be going in fairly soon. This is supposed to be his day off.

Thank you everyone for our support, you are quite right Frank, I shall have words with the surgery, it's made Ian feel low (he's a bit fragile at the moment anyway!) and me furious for him being upset in this way! As you say he is NOT stock piling them and not getting through them for the hell of it! Watch this space!!! So sorry to hear about your Mum Sheila, she will need to take it easy for sometime, but hopefully, will make a good recovery. Like the sound of your washing up bowl Mel, making your OH feel sick is NO excuse for him not washing up! he'll just have to close his eyes!!!! Got several (!) answers right on The Weakest Link!! the old grey matter must still be ticking over!!!
