Not a very good day here. Ian has a urine infection and is also passing drops of blood,SO back to the surgery with a sample that has to go back to the hospital, just hope it's not sinister. Dr meantime, has issued antibiotics, so well have to see. Meantime, we have been well mucked about by our Housebuyers! They finally made an offer today that was far too low, so we have rejected that, which loosly means that we have lost the place we were after as another offer was on the table there which I expect will be accepted. We wonder if they were looking at another property on Saturday, hence they were SO late!!! Mind you, maybe it's a blessing in disguise bearing in mind the infection! who knows!! Anyway, back to square 1 !!! Hope you got the e-card Mel, and that you've had a good day!

Hi Fiona, I love Scotland , My dad was from Aberdeen.
Niggglnellie, maybe it was fate , there is a more perfect home for you out there waiting.
I see you have all done well this valentine , my daft hubby , Tony thought it was yesterday !
I have grown sunflowers before , but they have never amounted to much, pumpkins on the otherhand i have had no trouble growing , but i don't think , i will join you all with growing this year .

I hope you Ian gets better soon though , Urine infection is painful isn't it ?

Fiona

Fiona Report 14 Feb 2011 19:47

Liz hope Ian won't be in pain for to long, I once had a really bad migraine and I went to the Drs and it turned out that I had a urinary infection and that was why the headache was worse than normal.

Margaret's right Liz. I lost a house once on xmas eve, but a few months later found a better one, so sometimes it is just 'meant to be'. I was just going to say I hope Ian keeps his pecker up...........perhaps not quite the right thing to say in the circs, but you know what I mean!! lol I suppose an infection is one of the risks of his surgery. He must be a bit fed up with it all though. I forgot to ask was Merlin pleased to see him after he came home?

9.16pm

You have been busy since I last posted.

Mags, I use to go Deep sea fishing, all around the country, one of my favourites was Mevagissey, Cornwall. Such beautiful countryside and the views from sea on to the coves and beaches was something I will never forget. My Sons partner, who lives in Rutland has family in Torquay and Newton Abbott. We have been a couple of times. and I like that area too. I was saying on here a few weeks ago, that I would love to end my days by the sea. But somehow I don't think it will happen.

Jane, We only see the Kites when we drive through Corby area, from Kettering on our way up to Rutland. We don't get squirels round here, but around Abington Park, Northampton, there are hundreds of the little beggers.!!!

Liz, So sorry to hear Ian isn't having a good time. The Antibiotics should help. Ros is on eight a day at the moment to keep any infection at bay.

Jane Report 14 Feb 2011 22:01

Frank I think the Corby area was where they released Kites a few years ago. There seem to be so many around now.So I assume they have bred ,which is great. When I see them I am just mesmerised (?SP).I love to see the way they use the tail feathers like a rudder to turn.I could watch for hours if only they stayed in one place lol
I'm not talking of where you will end your days lolol....Probably on the naughty step !!!...
I think it is just about time for bed so see you all again tomorrow.
Night Night xx

Morning All.
I am sat here watching a little Woodpecker flitting around in a tree.It just hopped all the way up the trunk.
It feels a lot chillier this morning, and I think I may be having the heating back on in a while.
Tea and toast coming up............ 10.09

Morning Jane and All,

Quite bright this morning with some sunshine. I think we had some rain in the bight as the pond looks fuller than when I turned the pump off yesterday.

Liz I did'nt get your E card!! but thanks for the thought.

Was going to get up early today at 7am but thought I would have another half hour or so in bed. Then woke up at 9.55am!!
Jumped out and was cross with myself.

Liz I hope Ian is a bit more comfy this morning and that the drugs are kicking in to take his pain away. |He has been in the wars poor chap. It's bad enough having the op but to have so much discomfort after. Give him my regards and sorry to hear about the house. It all adds up to more worry at a bad time. My prayers are with you.

When we went out for our Chinese last night there were no hailstones outside the garden, now is that weird or what???
All the way to Holsworthy we could hear them sliding down the back window of the car. There was not even any out the front of the wall up the drive but when we got back OH's other car still had them on it and they were still on the driveway out the front of the house.

Hi everyone, I have only just found this thread! Had to read a lot of posts to find "things people remember", but memories!!! I love the sherbert fountains with the liquorice stick (we call it "spanish" here in Yorkshire). You can still buy them but now they are in a plastic container, part of the fun of the old ones was when the cardboard tube went all soggy. Suppose it is to do with health and safety that they changed it!

has anyone seen the film the black swan, wow wow what a strange film very sexy and dark, saw it with my daughter in law, i think she was a bit embarassed as people my age dont do sex do we ??. anyway its a very good film and has great actors. Ive not seen true grit yet or the kings speach, but im really looking forward to it. when me and len were courting we went to the flicks 4 times a week ,, the only way you could be alone in the dark in those days.

Welcome Foxglove. Love the name.

They only changed the Sherbert Fountains last year to those awful plastic containers. why can't they leave things alone? At least the old paper ones would go back to the earth naturally, unlike the plastic!!

I don't see why we can't have a lot more things put into paper rather than polythene.

Hi Maria. Glad you enjoyed your film. Thought when I saw the bit on the telly it was going to be a bit dark and weird.

1.00pm

Afternoon my lovlies,

Damp cold day out there. Madam has poped off to Tesc#s for some bits. I've stay at home in the warm.

More woman to add to my collection. Welcome to you all. As I have said there is David and me, I am on here most days. I am a harmless old bugge# and love the crack I have with the girls.

Little midgets have just come to mind, aniseed balls, you could break you teeth on those.!!! spanish wood was another favourite (very stringgy and liquorice flavour) Going back to the old cardboard milk tops. Did you use to put two together and wrap wool round and round to make bobbles. Would tie ribbon to them, and give them to Mums, to put on the babies prams. See I was a nice boy as a child.!!!

Maria, I don't think the "BLACK SWAN" would be good for my health, if it's what you say it is. We haven't been to the cinema since I saw the "GLADIATORS" Ros. Takes Lewis when he's up with us for school holidays. Since my stroke the noise is to loud for my head. I even have to mute the ads on T.V. if they are loud. Drives her mad. !!

Hi Everyone, and a warm welcome to all newcomers. Frank, all these women, we're going to have to keep an eye on your blood pressure!!! Today Ian's feeling a bit 'down', just sick of wet pads, and the general joys of 'sickness'!!! 'bunged tummy' has reared it's head again, which is a pest to say the least! I think it is rather a case of 'Two steps forward, and one back'! We shall get there, just takes time. Have been asked out to supper this evening with nice neighbour, will do us good to get out of the house, and be nice not to have to cook and clear up. hooray!!! Talked to Laura this morning, had a really nice chat with her, Ed had a word too,not that you could really work out what he was saying!!! cheered me up no end to talk to them! Yes Frank, I remember cardboard milk tops and making bobbles for woolly hats or anything else come to that. 'we' don't doubt that you were a nice boy, mischevous maybe, but nice!!!
