That sounds nice ,have you a book with the recipes in ? my book that came with the cooker hasn't got anything that exciting in , just boring stews !!

Oh dear Fiona, perhaps Sofia thought you'd come to take her back to the Musical Minis , bless her .

Little Katie's walking very well now , she's behind you before you realise ,and if she see's an open door well she's nearly running lol

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 27 Jan 2011 21:44

I think the word was a Younker David not youngster , i've no idea what it is .

I'am always tired when the children have been here for the day , so will say Night Night all xx

Jane

Jane Report 27 Jan 2011 21:45

David you are right .It is an old Dutch word for young man or youth.
It is also a Surname.(I just googled the name)

Mandy ,I have a slow cooker recipe book .But if you just google Recipes for slow cookers there are loads. That's where mine tonight came from.It was so tasty, the meat just fell off the bone and the sauce was delicious.Yum Yum Yum !
Oh Fiona, little Sofia ,just didn't want you to go .
I never had a Grandma .Well I did ,it was Granny Richardson who lived in Moffat in Scotland.I didn't see her often ,and she scared the pants off me lol.She was a teacher of Maths !!!!.I am so glad I was never one of her pupils.
When I think of her now ,I have admiration for her.I think she was one of very few females who got degrees in the early nineteen hundreds. But she still did scare the pants off me !!! She had 7 children and was expecting her last one when her husband died.So she was a tough old bird as they say.

I think I will be on the way to bed shortly.Chester is spaced out in his bed .Hannah has gone and so has Chris.
So I will say Night Night now .x

Hi Mandy
Is Katie going through the drunk stage yet, even though Sofia is walking well and like Katie she likes to run, she still all of a sudden wobbles & loses her balance She's has better balance with bare feet than she is in her shoes or boots, and it's hard work to keep her socks or slippers on she keeps pulling them off , her shoes have velcro straps so it's easy for her to pull them off too.
She doesn't like getting dressed in the morning it's a battle to catch her, but show her her jacket and the arms go up she
knows she's going out she loves going in the car or her buggy.

Bedtime for me, I better go and see if OH is finished fixing his bike,
night night all

Morning all,

I have'nt been outside yet but it still looks very cold.

As to the Younker it was on a fishing boat and there were two of them.

Here is the census and I have put all their occupations on their names.

Hope Anne dos'nt mind me putting it on here and by the way they were all born in the same place in Norfolk and on a fishing boat.

1901 England Census

So they must have all been crew.

Frank I know when I am not too well if OH fusses I get cross too. When I am not feeling well I like to be left alone always have always will. But it is nice to have a cup of tea sometimes........and a biscuit!

I too went to put something in the fridge the other day that should have gone in the cupboard. Thought to myself 'you silly b*tch'.

Something else that happens too is I went to look for something whilst cooking the cake sthe other day and OH came out and I said I can't find so and so. I asked for it three times and he said to me 'what did you say that for?' I told him I was asking for it back from the fairies and he laughed and walked away. I called him back and said 'look it works, I told you so' and there in front of the kettle was what I was looking for well within plain site!!

Fiona,Thank you for the photo's of Sofia, my she has grown and how can you resist those big eyes !!!!
Katie does get into a wobble some times then she drops down and crawls away as if to say this is quicker lol
DIL had to buy her another pair of shoes ,the ones she had just before christmas are to small ,she now has a pair of Cla*ks Black Patent with little flowers on the front £28 !!! and Jake had a new pair of Hush Pupp*es for school and they were £35 !! as much as adult shoes !!!

Mel, so there's two Younkers on board !! i wonder what that means , also a Hawserman !! wonder what he did!
I wonder if it was a Norfolk word !! i've never heard of it .

Off to the market in a while to get some more Oranges ,lovely big juicey ones , put our prescriptions in to the doctors and go and get some eggs from the farm .

Hope your OH had a better night Liz, and you get some news of when he can come home.

Morning All
Only feeling 2% worth this morning Mel. LOL strange occurance.???
Bright but cold this morning, just a general quick tidy around before I go to back class leave here around 10.15am. just time for a coffee before I get changed.

Mel I am always losing things, I go to get them where I think they are. but they are not. so frustrating!!!!!
We have a saying in our house THE BORROWERS HAVE BEEN VISITING AGAIN.
There used to be a childrens drama on the TV you might remember it. (THE BORROWERS were little people who lived under the floor boards and they would creep upbetween the flloorboards and take things, my 2 girls used to watch every episode, they loved it.)

anyway back to What i was saying when I can't find something i go away and most likely it will be in the place I thought it was a few hours later.
The only thing we never found was daughter no 1 camera she got for christmas one year, she put it down somewhere on christmas night and when she went to get it later she couldn't find it.
we wondered if it got thrown out with the christmas wrapping paper etc.

Hi Mandy , you got inbefore me.

SHOES!!!!! shocking prices for kids shoes, but you can't be too carefull with growing feet. my feet must have stopped growing when I was about 12 , never did get passed the size 2. , it's easy to get Sofia shoes than it is for me but I must admit there is more choice here in Scotland than there was at home in England.

Must go and get my keep fit clothes on
BBL this afternoon.

Fiona that name of mine was supposed to be musical notes!

When it came up like that on here I changed it back to *Mel* and now sometimes it comes up as it did today!! Annoying when you are trying to help someone as it looks like two different people.

Mandy I wondered if you may know what a Younker was being as you are in Norfolk but obviously not. It must be some kind of word for a job on a fishing vessel.

Morning All
I loved the Borrowers. We all used to sit down together to watch.Even Chris !

Mel I expect the Younker! and crew fished from the Barbican in Plymouth as the District St Andrew is the right area for the Barbican. That is one of the first places I go to when I go down.

It is still cold out there, but not so breezy.

I hope Ian is not feeling so sick today Liz and that is now on the the road to recovery.
Frank I hope you and Ros are best friends again this morning lol,and that her tummy is not looking so inflammed.
I have lots to get on with this morning so will be back later on.
