Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Dec 2010 11:09

Oh I missed Edwardian Farm!! I shall have to see if I can watch it on Replay on the box!! Anyway it will give me something to watch when OH has gone to bed tonight if there is nothing else any good on.

When we went out the other day and past rivers they were frozen up the edges too, with just the middle moving!! Have'nt seen that since I was a child.

Can remember throwing stones on an iced up lake and they made the most peculier noise!! Like a crack or ricachet.

Morning Mel Frank,Liz and all
It is a bright sunny day here, and I think the snow has melted somewhat as I have spent a good 20 minutes picking up dog poo that has been buried for so long lol.I nearly had a dicky fit when I saw how much there was.

Frank ,at least it wasn't you who tripped over the wire !!!.I hope your neighbour didn't hurt himself.I take it you mean it was him who had been on the booze.
Chris is out with Chester.James is busy on the Play Station and the girls are just getting sorted to go out.Hannah is going to take Sarah for a drive around some of our lovely countryside and little villages.
I had to laugh yesterday as Sarah had brought a pair of wellies with her.She got them last week and has never worn a pair before! She said she didn't like them feeling cold when you first put them on.Good job she had them though for tramping through the snow.

I am just going to look on the pooter to see if Tes** is open as I had some really good cough lozenges and could do with come more.I normally poo poo these things but these seem to help quite a bit.

Fiona it is good to talk to your minister as they can give wonderfull support in such nasty times.

Just remember dad is always with you watching over your little family but now he is more at peace with himself and prbably back with mum too. They never really leave you.............................

I never met my gt gran but talk to her all the time. I am sure she has helped me in my research of the family as when I ask her for help I always find something that I did'nt know.

Fiona,There is nothing better than children /babies to make you feel better.I am sure it was good to for you to talk to your Minister.I know when Mum died I had a chat and wept all over our vicar(even though I don't go to church). He is a lovely man and we have known him for years since the children went to sunday school.

Well ,at Tes** it was like a TB Sanatorium lol.All you could hear were people like me .All searching for cough mixtures, lozenges etc.the shelves were almost empty.Lots of tickly cough medicine ,but Chesty cough medicine all gone .I got just about the last bottle !!.Not many boxes of tissues left either.

My Sister, her OH and my Nephew are coming tomorrow for the day.So I will have a house full.I think Fitz and his OH will come up to see them while they are here.
It is very quiet here at the moment .Just me and Chris and the dog.Lovely !
See you in a bit

Just had a big turkey sandwich. I am missing the carcas now for my wild birds!!! Now I wish I had bought a turkey and not just a breast joint. Still it is not going to go on forever till we are sick to death of turkey.

Boiling a bacon joint tonight.

Jane Report 26 Dec 2010 16:23

I have plenty of Turkey left from the Crown, the ham and the Pork loin. That will all be on the table tomorrow with all the rest of the tons of food in the fridge lol
I never fancy Turkey after Christmas dinner. We still haven't had a pudding!!

The temperature is dropping like a stone now. I hope David and Ellen are managing to keep warm without their heating.

LilyL Report 26 Dec 2010 16:38

Have been looking on other sites, and people have been saying how awful the TV has been over Xmas!! I would totally go along with that, mind you for years it's been dreadful so in a way you are best to try and record things from about October onwards to tied you over so to speak. (Victorian Farm for example!!) Obviously, not EVERYONE can do that, so if they must have repeats why on earth not have ones that people might actually want to see? not programmes or films that were a) old when my mother was young or b) ones no-one would have wanted to watch first time round!! There have, in the past, been really good films and other progs that would be well worth seeing again, so why trot out such rubbish?! Loved Dads Army circa 19??? and 'Railway Children 'again cica 19???? am now watching 'Oliver Twist' 1948!!!!! I'll say no more!

Shirl I always have a pocket full of bags when I take Chester out.But he always goes in the garden too.It is an offence here to not pick up dog mess.It can be a huge fine up to £1,000 I think.

I also think TV has been a bit bad this Christmas.I cannot stand to see the same films cropping up every year.
I think it might be the new Upstairs Downstairs tonight.Must check it in the Radio Times. That should be good.

David

David Report 26 Dec 2010 19:45

Offence??
There's a man walks a dog past my house most days.
It invariably stops near my garden gate and sh-ts.
Never an apology.

If I knew where he lived I'd put some of it through his letter box!

Annx Report 26 Dec 2010 19:55

Evening All,

Yes I think the new Upstairs Downstairs is on at 9.00pm Jane. We pre-recorded some things for Christmas too......some Last of the Summer Wine we hadn't seen and some Shaun the Sheep which we love.

We went to the sales at Grantham today, a nice ride through snow capped villages and the hills of Melton Mowbray. We saw a black pussycat trotting over a frozen river as if it was a footpath!! lol It was busy, busy as you couldn't buy before 11.00am this year being a Sunday, but I bought a couple of long sleeved tops that covered the chest too, most are too chilly!! 2 bras (not Sadie's sadly. lol) and a pair of shoes.

We are going in town tomorrow to get a new tv for the bedroom as the old one is replacing the smaller one in the other bedroom, which has red outlines around everything and can't be repaired. The tv we want is almost the cheapest I have found for the model we want and the shop is giving a free 5 year warranty if you buy in store. I hope there isn't a catch!!

Still no birds at the feeders....where are they?.......hope they haven't perished.

David, hope you are managing to keep warm enough........, get yourself an electric fan heater in the sales to keep by for any future emergency and a couple of hot water bottles.

Off to do some knitting of the sock now.....nearly at the toe! lol

Hi All
Finely I can get back on and say hello, have had a busy day.
even though its holiday time, the undertaker has been wonderful and has acted so quickly.
Dad's funeral will be 7th January 2011, it is a while to wait, but all the paper work cannot be done till the offices open again on Wednesday. anyway it's sorted out, and I have spent most of the evening phoning family and friends to with details.

We have decided to still go ahead with out travel plans to visit OH family in England and will be going down on Tuesday for a couple of days, so I won't be around to chat, it will be good to have a change of scenery and to relax. I am now getting really tired and need my bed.
so will wish everyone a goodnight.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Dec 2010 10:10

Morning All,

I suppose it is going to be eally quiet on here today with you all off somewhere.

It has turned warmer here and the snow is at last melting and I can see some grass showing through it.

Yesterday about 4pm I turned the tap on to fill the water jug and nothing much was coming out. Told OH and he went outside and the tap on the left of the front door had frozen and pushed the plastic pipe out. Water was streaming out and it is the first thing off the main!! As it was plastic pipe OH could'nt do the normal thing of folding the pipe in half to stop the water spraying up the bathroom wall. I was going up to the bantams and he asked me to find a piece of dowling we have up there. I fought my way through the old stable to where I thought I had last seen some of this. It was darkish in there as the ivy has grown over the windows. There was'nt any there!!! Went into the potting sheds and found two pieces in there but when I got back down the garden he said he had done it and hope it holds.

He had put a piece of the driftwood I picked up on the beach in the summer, in it and it was a perfect fit. Before he had moaned about me bringing more JUNK home but he was glad of my JUNK when it came to the burst pipe!!!!

There was no frost on the cars last night either so thought the snow would be melting today.

LilyL

LilyL Report 27 Dec 2010 11:20

Snow melting quite qjuickly here, as it is MUCH warmer thank goodness!
Just been down to our Village Shop and they're not open today OR tomorrow!!! so am just off with OH to put up a sign that he did for someone before Christmas, and then to another (open) shop to look for Paper and maybe some choc!!! nothing to report from here, D.I.L rang last night, as did Laura, children (as usual) full of colds and coughs!! too many late nights, and, as my mother used to say, too much Christmas!!! (never quite sure what she meant! too much excitement I suppose!) Off out now! big excitement!!!! B.F.N
