Hope you have a nice day and enjoy your presents. If you can't get out, is there a takeaway that could deliver?

Hope you are soon feeling a bit better Jane. Plenty of rest when you can, just do the essentials.

We have lots of snow too now. Makes that noise like cotton wool as you walk on it. I was up early and down to Sains*urys with my latest list........hardly anyone around, no queues. The same at the retail park nearby.......pick where you like to park.....literally as the snow has covered all the lines....never seen it so quiet for years!! OH then carried on to his hospital appointment at the balance clinic. He's got to do the same exercises that they gave him when he went before, 8 years ago, but they think that it may be to do with the kind of migraines he has, so they are arranging for him to have an MRI scan as well.

Mandy, I think the socks will be for next xmas now.........might get one done though!! OH was saying his grandma tried to show him how to knit when he was little. How did I guess that he didn't get on with it very well!!

Well, I better go and have a rummage in the freezer to find something for tea now.

Afternoon all
xxxxxxx HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRANK xxxxxxx Have a lovely day.

I went for coffee this morning with friends, it's freezing out there, walked into coffee shop looking like Rudolf.

we are going up to daughter no 1 house to babysit Sofia while daughter no1 goes to work & SIL comes home from work, as Sofia has a tempreature again and runny nose and eyes, it's far to cold to bring her down to us. I must remember to put some satsumas in my bag she loves them might tempt her to eat a little. bought some more Calpol while I was out this morning as well.

I also have to pick up a parcel from Arg*s for daughter no 2 she is at home waiting for a another parcel to be delivered she stayed in all day yesterday and it didn't arrive, so keeping fingers crossed it comes today.

will be back later.

I managed to take a pic of the top Robin feeding from my hand up at the bantams this morning late. Unfortunately with my little camera as it was in my pocket. OH's is so big to cart about. I really must have an old box out that the lead to it may be in.

David if you take pics on a reel camera you will have to scan the pics to get them to our email addys.

15.53pm.

Off to do the corning now.

Happy Birthday liz'z son!!

Evening All.
I have finally got some things done today.Managed to get to town on my own .It wasn't too bad driving in the snow.I decided while I was there to get more Potatoes and veg for Xmas day,as I noticed the parsnips and carrots I already had were looking a bit limp and we cant have limp ones can we !
Chris is going over to Morri**** tomorrow so he can get the odds and sods that I still need.

Frank ,I'm sorry you missed your lunch out.It would have been too risky to go.
I hope you are enjoying your birthday anyway.

No more snow, but it feels like that temperature is dropping now.So, icy tomorrow I reckon.
I have a lot of tiding up and dusting to do and get the put you up bed ready and made up for Hannah's friend for Xmas. She is looking forward to having an English Christmas.I better do my best lol

Sheila I hope your SIL still has the chance of staying here.It must be such a worry.
David ,how awful for your neighbour to die just after leaving hospital.I know they try and empty as many beds as possible for Xmas, but like you said maybe she was pushed out too soon.It 's not good.
I'd love to see those icicles!
Must see to dinner. They had to fend for themselves yesterday as I just couldn't do it.I can't remember the last time I felt too ill to get their meal.

We have had a good covering of snow here, i have just watched the news and seen how bad it is your way Frank and Jane ,no wonder you didn't go out Frank.
Hubby came home and we went to sons to baby sit while they went to do their shop, i did wonder if it would be crowded but son said it was fine ,they walked round with no trouble and got all they wanted , so much easier for them without the children in tow !!

I have done some of my cooking today Viennese Fingers dipped in chocolate and then i made two dozen Mince pies ,we now tried one and i think its the best pastry i've ever made, i thought i would try a different pastry recipe and i'll definitely use it again tomorrow for my sausage rolls.

When Iv'e used all the exposusures on the reel I will ask the potograph shop to put it on a CD then I can load them all into my photos on the PC and send the appropriate to my photos on the GR site or to individual email addresses.

Happy birthday to Frank.
Mel what a good idea cutting the arms off an old jumper for leg warmers
I did that and will ask the doctor for some cream thank you xx
I am glad you enjoyed your soup I copied you and did the same lovely really warmed me up.

Dinner was a bit of a disaster Mandy we went to the village pub all of us
and ordered and then later there was a loud bang and we joked about it and the waitress came out saying we cannot supply dinner the oven s blown up. We thought she was joking but sure enough it had ,Kitchen full of smoke .They offered us cold Nut Roast and salad They did have some chips cooked so we all settled for that and Ice cream after .

The fire brigade arrived and there was a very sad looking chef sat outside puffing on a ciggy when we left. Ryan said happy christmas mate and he said up yours .Ryan said I was being nice mate and he said Ya bet you were. I am afraid we all had the giggles then poor man I hope he does have a job tomorrow.

Jane poor you with a nasty sore throat doent it wear you down when your trying to be cheerful . I hate Brandy it is so strong . What helped me last year was Rowse Honey and Lemon drink it comes in sachets and contains pure honey vit c echinacea and zinc it makes a lovely soothing drink I often drink it cold or not.
April was singing away in a manger no crisps for a bed today I said it is crib April and she said oh I thought it was crisps sillly me.

The iciccles are getting more and more and the dogs are disapearing in the snow slowly.

It is a terrible shame about the lady sent home to die poor women.
I hope you feel well soon Jane.

Ros managed to get to Tesc# this morning, bought a load of things for my "BIRTHDAY PARTY" Lewis, his Mum and dad Ros, and I. Rutland son and partner can't get over. The table is bursting, smoked salmon, chicken, prawns, sausages, and India snacks. Dips, she's got enough for a dozen at least. Will have to call the neighbours in.!!! to help us out.

More bad news. one of the receptionist's at the Doctors didn't feel well on Monday, some sort of virus. Drs sent her to Hospital, she went into a coma and died yesterday afternoon. Don't know what it is yet. She was only 62. No age really Another old chap just round the corner also passed away. You always tend to hear more about deaths, around this time of year.

Just waiting for Lewis's M & D to arrive.

Well I cheat with pastry Mandy.I buy ready made.I did a little trial today for the starter on Christmas day.It is puff pastry cut into squares ,then I added sauted leeks,a soft blue cheese topped with walnut. Also did a few with Brie .Hannah and Chris have just done a tasting and said yes they are nice ,but need a little Chutney or Cranberry on the side.

Maureen is off to her family in Bedford on Friday for the Xmas. She hopes to be back on the thread in the New Year when she has a new Computer.

I noticed that the sell by dates on some things were very short ,lots finished on Christmas eve !!! i had a dig at the back of the shelves for a longer date .

Jane , i bet Hannah's friend will be looking forward to Christmas with you all , much better than spending it on her own poor girl.

Dear oh dear Sheila, you don't seem to have much luck when you go out do you , and i suppose it was to short notice to go anywhere else.
I wouldn't want to have booked a Christmas dinner at the pub !!! no chance of getting one with the Oven blown up !!!

I had to smile when i read what you said April had sung about the " no crisps for a bed " lol they do say some funny things don't they !!

Jake had a school dinner the other day and he said" we had Ice cream for pudding .....it was Strawberry and Banilla " lol

That sounds really nice Jane , i never do a starter ,we all love a dessert !! and we'd never eat three courses .

There was a nice starter that was on Come dine with me ,my friend made it and that was tasty ,it was Savoury Cheesecake with Red Pepper Jelly ,made with ,Cream cheese ,Grated Mature Chedder ,3 garlic cloves, eggs and a little of the pepper jelly mixed in ,then you bake in the oven and when cold spread the rest of the pepper jelly on top .

Thanks for the e-mails Frank........glad you have had a nice time........enough to eat tomorrow as well by the sound of it! lol

What a shame about the receptionist at the surgery.......so quick too......her poor family.

We only ever manage the main course for Christmas dinner........pudding usually waits till Boxing Day or later. lol

Oh, better be off to bed.........up early again tomorrow to fetch the Turkey. I told OH we are taking his car as I bet the long trek up the farm track across the field could be very icy and his car doesn't slip as easy as mine!!

Hope you feel a bit better in the morning Jane.

Good Morning,

Another bright and frosty morning. Blue skies and frozen cars.

Found someone on Ancestry yesterday who has a John Hannabus in their tree 1783 Cornwall. I can't find one on IGI but he has him down as a Convict. I am interested to see where the info came from so am just off to read the email from them.

Jane those starters sound very nice!

Must get myself going now as we are going to try and get the car out.

10.32am

Morning from a cold and frosty Northampton.

Rutland Son, is getting down to swee us today. They have some last minute shopping to do also.

Ros has just gone to have her nails done. (a christmas present from a friend)

I'm sitting coughing and sneezing, Blame Jane for that. Don't know where that came from.

Been sitting looking out of the window, and having a laugh. There is a blackbird and a wagtail, chaseing each other around the food I have put out. As soon as the wagtail lands the blackbird chases him off. The wagtail is so quick tha blackbird dosen't know where it's gone, then it pops up again.and off they go again.. If only they ignored each other there would be plenty to go round.!!!!

Going to bring all the veg into the conservatory, to bring it up to indoor temperature, ready for me to do tomorrow morning, before setting off to Rutland.
