William Report 1 Feb 2013 19:39

Yes, Mel, we watched Silent Witness last night. It must have been good as I stayed awake all through it for a change. Looking forward to tonights part 2 to see what happens. Hope Nikki doesn't get hurt by that smoothy! They do get some good story lines although Carmel found the guy in the roofs mummified body a bit scary. I'm sure sometimes some of the story lines are very near the truth if we did but know it.

Yesterdays 'Moving On' was very good and I felt nearly as stressed as Paul McGann as he struggled to cope with his father who had suffered a stroke and refused to go into sheltered housing. Excellent stuff.

I love 'Moving On' William. Are these repeats?
I haven't seen any Silent Witness this time(most unusual for me).I must watch something else .

Hannah has sent some pics of the flat .Bags ,boxes, and chaos lol.I really hope they will enjoy living in Crouch End.I will see it on Sunday ,so at least then will be able to picture where they are.

I am now hungry.Just waiting for the veg and can then tuck in :-D

LilyL Report 1 Feb 2013 19:58

Yes Mel, we watched it and really enjoyed it. I think tonight we shall watch it in bed as we are both whacked! Tomorrow is World without End which we are also enjoying despite the historical inaccuracies around Edward 111!!!!!
My cousins young son has just started his training and in time will be a fully fledged member of the Australian Army! Not sure that the parents are that enthusiastic, but it's what he's always wanted to do,,- He's only 18, and left school in Dec, at least Afghanistan should be a thing of the past as far as foreign troops are concerned, but there's almost certain to be somewhere else - just have to hope for the best.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Feb 2013 20:19

I think I watched a little bit of Moving on and thought the acting was rubbish. Perhaps I was'nt watching the right side if oh had turned the telly over as he usually does.

Yes Liz looking forward to World Without End tomorrow too. I suppose she will end up with her man in the end.

What really annoys oh and I is when you get something old fashioned and they use words that were never about then.

Frank Report 1 Feb 2013 21:44

wHAT ARE YOU LIKE jANE !!! Sorry Caps on. In bed and tuck up just after 9. 00 pm. You will get indigestion, so soon after eating.!!!

Can't say I have seen any of your programmes Liz/Mel I tent to just sit and let Ros choose what she wants to watch. I missed Silent witness last night, so am not watching this evening.. I will watch MY programmes from 10.00 till I go to bed 11.00/11.30.

Last night I did stay up and watch "MIGHTY SHIPS" it was a diamond dredger and processor. They suck up over 1,000,000 tons of sand and mud from the sea bed 300 ft plus down, and end up with EIGHT baked beans size tins of diamonds at the end of the month. They then change crews and so it goes on 52 weeks a year They get over £9,000,000 per year. It's owned and run by De Beers, the largest diamond merchand in the World. There have been sone really exciting ships over the weeks. The sort of thing I think you would enjoy Will.

Sitting here with a can of cok#, as I have run out of beer.

See you in the morning. Sleep tight. !!!

Good morning All and Evening Kim,

Today is Candlemas Day the tradtional day for birds to pair with their mates. This day is when the bugdie breeders pair their birds.

If Candlemas Day be fair and bright,
Winter will have another flight,
If on Candlemas Day it be shower and rain,
Winter is gone and will not come again.

Today is bright and sunny here how is it with you lot?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Feb 2013 10:04

Candlemas is the familiar name for the Feast of Purification of the Virgin Mary and the and the Presentation of Christ in the Temple. Before the Reformation, Christians in Britain lit candles on this day to signify that Christ was the Light of th eWorld. Special services were held and the candles were blessed and taken home by members of the congregation to light the windows of their houses and cottages.

It is said to be the day the HEDGEHOG leaves its winter hybernation to look at the weather.

Just thought you would like this bit of info.

Frank Report 2 Feb 2013 10:31

Oh what a beautiful morning. etc. The sky is so blue and not a cloud to be seen, but very cold North wind., whats the old saying "when the north wind does blow, we will have snow. etc" So you could be right Mel, That a bit of info I knew nothing about.

Morning all/evening Kim.

Is lazy bones up yet, or is she still cuddling her Kindle ???

I sleept like a log last night, I woke about 9.00 am to give Ros a nudge, as she is off with Martine for their Saturday CHAT and a bit of shopping. She bought me my Asprin and cup of tea, and I laid and listened to the radio for a while.

ALL ON MY OWN NOW, Will get a bacon sarnie and more tea, then shower, shave and get dressed.

I might make it to the pub today, haven't been down for THREE weeks, they will think I am BROWN BREAD

Snowdrops all out, and bulbs sprouting everywhere. I hope there will be a good show in a few weeks.

What did you think of that garden in Australia.??? If only !!!

William Report 2 Feb 2013 11:48

G'day all. Jane, Moving On is the latest, series 4, and I have enjoyed them all. Weekend now and mostly rubbish TV (except Midwives & Mrs Brown) Saturday night used to be the best, ITV just seems to cater for the younger people who are probably all out on the town anyway!

I was at the dentists at 8.30am this morning. He has taken impressions and I have to go back at 1pm on Tuesday when he'll remove the tooth root and fit the plate. I have no idea how I'll manage, never had anything like that before. Our dentist says for our age we are very lucky, especially given our wartime childhood, to have all (well, most of!) our own teeth anyway. Long term I'll probably go for bridge work but that'll be another bill I guess.

Hoping to see my son and his family this afternoon. They are up from London for the weekend but stay over in Nuneaton. Missed seeing them around Christmas as they were away in Spain.

Frank

Frank Report 2 Feb 2013 12:23

Well I am all showered and shaved, sprayed up and smell good enough to eat !!!

Our doves were "AT IT" a couple of weeks ago, but will keep my eye on the others. Litty Jenny wren has been going into the garage, over the door. I will have to keep my eyes open to see if a nest appears anywhere. At least they will be safe and sound in there. Last year they were in a little nesting box on the arbour. I don't know if I did the right thing, but I cleaned it out in the summer. !!! Hope I haven't put them off.

Game of cards, then for a pint or two and see the football.

Glad you are up Jane, otherwise you would have missed a lovely day :-D :-D :-D

Afternoon All,

First, many thanks for the emails Frank. That garden is beautiful and it must be so uplifting to live there when you draw the curtains back on that view each morning. The kites one is fantastic and just shows you can still be really good at something at the age of 80! :-) Fitz's rellies were connected with the De Beers mines Frank.

OH has gone to a match at Oxford today, but has gone on the coach. He is getting offers of work pouring in now and is having to say no to some or he will be working full time again with overtime!! He doesn't want that so is trying to get a happy balance!

Afternoon all

Feeling a little better today, went back to old pills and had a better sleep and no aches, managed to have a shower and wash hair, head slightly tingling but I feel better for doing it.
Not been out the house all last week so OH going to take me out for a couple of hours in the car for change of scenery.

Annx

Annx Report 2 Feb 2013 14:03

Glad the old tablets are making you feel a bit better Fiona and that you've managed to freshen up with a shower and hairwash. That always makes me feel better if I can manage it when I'm not feeling well. Enjoy your trip out it will be good to have a change of scene for a while. :-)

I never knew any of that Mel.

Time for a cuppa methinks and I have a fleece in the washer to sort out!! This last machine will not spin anything that's heavy properly, leaves it sodden!! :-| :-| I will have to do some old fashioned wringing by hand I suppose. My painful side has improved a bit each day, but I still had to sleep propped up with 3 pillows last night. I was going to change the bed today, but perhaps not! I don't want any setbacks! :-S OH can help when he gets home. :-)
