Mel, you certainly did inherit some lovely things, as Maureen says totally priceless. I also thought of another clothes brush I have which belonged to my Dad but I never found it until after he died. It has black bristles but there are also white bristles spelling out G E R. Dad worked for the railways, would have been L N E R when he started. So, I think he found that brush in someones locker or some such because prior to LNER it was GER. (Great Eastern Railway). We also have a Mispah brooch which I'll email out. It was bought by my Dad as a sweetheart present for Mum when he was in the army so it has the Buffs dragon badge on it in one heart and the Mispah words in the other heart. It's hallmarked silver 1925, and is in it's original case. so that was two years before they married and he left the army. The only thing is, Mum never liked it and it was always hidden away in a drawer! Another thing I found is my uncle Ted's bible. I know it was his because it has his initials in and the year and also RMI, Royal Marines Infantry. There is another name in it so it may have been the padre who gave it to him. I also have Dad's signet ring but I never wear it, but have it in a little glass box. Carmel also has things of her Dad's but as her mother died when Carmel was only 7, she has nothing of her mothers. Funny how I never met Carmel's Dad because he died and my mother died one year before I met Carmel. I'm glad I raised the point, I find it fascinating what other people have 'inherited', shame you don't have anything though Frank, bet they would have been real interesting. I bet everyones memory banks are on the go now.

I have a letter that was sent to my Dad (also sent to other crew members on the ship Dad was on) thanking them for saving the crew of a sinking ship during the war.I must try and find it.I think it was from a German Captain. My Dad was a diver With the big fishbowl helmet and heavy boots. He never talked about his experiences during the war other than once ,and that was when he had to dive in the Suez to a wreck and saw a poor Nurse who had drowned trying to escape through a porthole.I would have loved to have heard more about his time in the war but sadly he was just never able to talk about it.
Dinner ready now

Marvelous how something rfemembered, brings us to dig into our memory bank.
Jane, Sunday teatime, into late evening, was the time we heard all my Dads memories from joinging the Navy in 1901 through to the first world War. Then all the battles he fort in. He was a CHIEF GUNNER. and would have to shout the orders to fire the BIG GUNS. Then all the antics the men got upto in various ports around the World, after the war. We as young children were sent to bed, at our usual time, but we would sit on the stairs, and listen till someone eith found us, or we got to tired to listen, and went to bed.
One lasting memory of Dad, was when he was on his death bed, shouting orders to the gun crew.
It will be 55 years on Wednesday since he died. 4.00 am in the morning, at The London Hospital, Whitechapel Road. Thick fog for my brother to drive through, from his home in Buckhurst Hill to our house in Woodford Bridge, then on to the Hospital. His funeral was 4th Feb in thick ice and then torential rain, at the grave side. How can we think of that as happy memories.
SORRY FOLKS, It's my time of year.

Don't apologise (?sp) Frank.Memories aren't always happy ,but remain in our minds forever. It is good to talk about the ones that aren't so happy just as it is to talk of the ones that are.The night my Dad passed away was totally chaotic.Me ,my Sister and Mum were all around the bedside in the hospital .The fire alarm went off,we were all told to leave. We refused. Then the fire brigade turned up.No-one could move us from Dad's bedside. It was only moments before he died. They just left us and carried on lol Luckily there wasn't a fire .Looking back on that night now Janice and I can laugh (not because of loosing Dad) but because of the chaos that was going on around us.It could have been a sitcom.
Now it is nearly time for my favourite Mrs.Browns Boys. :-D :-D....Still not finding Miranda that funny.....hence doing my post now :-D

I was present when my Mother died in the ICU 30/1/1994. Also present were my wife and brother and a cousin. I recall getting angry with the nurse for switching off the monitoring equipment beside her bed. Must have been the last ti realise she was dead.
Her funeral was the saddest one I ever want to go to, It poured stair rods that morning and there was a delay at the Crematoruim so her hearse had to wait and I was in the car behind with Ellen,Ralph and Aunt May.
That wait immediatly behind her was, words fail.

Morning everyone,
Are you having heavy rain too? It has stopped here today and we only had some localised flooding. A few roads were closed. It would probably take a month of solid rain before the creek out the back of our placed burst its banks. Queensland and Northern NSW are really suffering and fires are still burning and several folk have died. :-( I feel very lucky living where we are away from all this mayhem. Such events bring out the best and worst in people, like charging flood victims $11 for a cup of coffee - scoundrels.
Well OH has lost 4 centimetres off his waist and coping well with the diet. Maureen was such a challenge for me to get through the chocolate ;-) and now I found some more!!!!! You do what you have to. :-D :-D
Jane I love your new photo.
Had a bit of luck with one of my ancestors. Finally found he and his wife travelling to Aus. in 1883. I've been searching for years and I just fluked it. One more piece to fit into the puzzle.
Have some memories of my own that I would like to record here, but I will leave that for another time. It has been sad, but interesting reading your posts about loved ones.
Off to have a late dinner, so have a safe and happy day. 8.17 pm ADST

It's out for Lunch Mandy and then the cinema at 4.30.James has just come down and is in a flap as he can't find the books he has bought Chris !!!.They have to be somewhere in his room but he said him and Jess looked for about half an hour last night :-S
No Freezer yet and my car is still waiting to be picked up.
David that must have been terrible for you having to sit and wait like that behind your Mother's Hearse :-( My Dad's funeral was the first one I had ever been to.I think I was about 32 or 33.When we arrived at the Church the driver pulled right up along side the hearse so the coffin was only a couple of feet away from me.I must have some kind of panic attack thing as I could not get out of our car.It was awful.
Oh dear all this sad talk so early in the morning.
My car has just gone.So now just the freezer to come.Chris has come downstairs now so I will take Chester out quickly .Our sky is not looking bad at the moment.

Give Christ my regards Jane, I was going to send an Ecard. but unable to do so.
A few spits of rain on the conservatory windowd, and not looking good overhead.
Another crampy night last night. four times in the calf, on right leg. I wonder if it's lack of excerise. I feel like I have been kicked my Liz's Horse. !!!!
Have a good lunch, are James and Jess going with you ??? Who's paying. ???? NOT CHEAP !!!!
Loads of seeds and bread over the lawn, that the birds didn't want. Fussy or what !!!!

I shall be thinking of you having that nice lunch Jane. Hope the birthday boy enjoyed his cards and presents.
What did he have?
Frank get some tonic water and have a good glass of that before bedtime. It helps with cramp. Also ask doc if you can have some Quinine pills, mum used to use them.

What A Bloo## morning. Ros stripped the bed and washed sheets and pillowcases. A few minutes after the machine was on, she went to the car, and found the sideway was flooded. THE DRAIN was blocked. Out I went, down on my knees (not easy) to try to clear it. Spent over an hour with hot water, pressure washer, wire, etc. No go, Ros has gone to B & # to get sone Mr Mussl# Drain cleaner. see if that will do it.
Sorry CHRIS. though you might like your new title for your birthday lol lol
Still can't sent any Emails. Spoken to Conrad he has given me some things to do. KILL OR CURE. if i'm not back later. You will know I have bugger## it up. :-0 :-0 :-0
