Evening All
Hi Dopeydoc(love the name :-D :-D .Lovely to hear some of your childhood memories. We have really run out at the moment ,so any new ones are very welcome.
What is Tin Tam Tommy?I never heard of that.

I see I have missed some posts (will go back over them),But saw yours Mandy :-S Oh dear ,what a day it has been for you.Tomorrow will be a new day :-D :-D
What a pity your BIL isn't entitled to a courtesy car.I don't understand why not :-S.

Is that little Katie(pic)????.........I'll be back.Just need to fetch in some logs.it has been snowing all afternoon !!

David, now you know why they call them Civil Servants - they don't know anything but they can be civil answering questions when they don't have an answer. Maybe it's snowing so much he can't see if they have any bin lorries there at all LOL. How many menus did you have to listen to until you ended up no wiser than before you rang them?

Getting dark here now, I can at least see that much without going to Sp*ecsavers! So Shirl (looks better in all caps Frank LOL) is Tracey, and Tracey is Shirl - I need to go and see my shrink :-S

According to TV Midlands news, it should be OK here tomorrow, have to wait and see. Just hoping now that it will be OK for Saturday so we can go to Baby Grace's first birthday tea party. I understand she's been busy baking cakes for the occasion, bless her.

Jane Report 23 Jan 2013 18:01

William ,If I remember rightly.Tracey is Shirls cousin and I think she registered Shirl on GR but used her own name which is why Shirl shows up as Tracey :-S :-S :-S
Got that??? :-D :-D ;-)

David our bins were done today :-D.Is there something you can look up on the computer re your local council .There might be a notice giving an update on bin collections.

My new Freezer is finally being delivered on Sunday :-D :-D :-D.I better start making a shopping list ;-) ;-).How exciting :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D.

I can hear an Owl Hooting very close .Somewhere down the bottom of the garden I think. The birds were all squabbling this afternoon. It was chaos out there. All chasing eachother off.It was like whacky races lol

Welcome Dopeydoc sounds like you used to like playing in the street. I know I didas a child. was always out there with some friend or another. Or we would go over the river and make a camp. As I grew older it became a bit dicey going over the river especially on your own but I did walk over there with the dog and pick the lovely big blackberries when in season.

It snowed here a couple of times today but then it started melting quite fast and we hav'nt much of it left now.

Oh has'nt got to go ringing tonight as the phone just rang and it is cancelled and I don't cook when he goes ringing. I have a couple of nice fresh boiled eggs. I had just given him choc bisccuits, an iced mince pie and a cranberry and date toasted bun to keep him gloing till a sandwich when he got in.

Can you believe it, having spent all day thawing it is now snowing!!! Millie and I had a good walk, well, I took her into the paddock as the road is still a bit slippery and I didn't want to join you Frank!!! Millie behaved like a puppy and ran and jumped about and really enjoyed herself! I should have taken my camera, maybe tomorrow if it is still snowy! As you say William, nothing on TV tonight, so either a recording or video for us tonight! We have a TV in the bedroom,( does anyone else?) so if we get tired we put it onto hold, go to bed and finish watching 'whatever'! then all you have to do is just snugle down and 'bobs your uncle'!!
Tomorrow - shopping, hopefully!!!

David

David Report 23 Jan 2013 18:38

Three menus before I go a human who didn't know.

I fetched our bin in off the pavement.
If they come before day light tomorrow they wouldn't take it.
Petty isn't it?

A generation ago the bin men lifted those heavy galvanised bines full of ashes.
Now the wheelie bins have castors.
Progress?

William I really can't believe Grace will be one year old.Am I right in thinking it was just before she was born that you joined us?

Today is 13 years since my best friend died.(Rachel in Dubai's Mum).It seems like yesterday when I was there when she passed away .Such a shock as it was so sudden and then trying to comfort and look after Rachel and her Brother(Father had gone off to live in S Africa with his new bit ) .I won't go on otherwise I'll get Maudlin ,and that won't do :-D.I'll just remember the Happy Days with her.

Chris home ,so will go and see how his day has been.

Jane, neither can we. After all the IVF, twice when she lost the baby long before time, we were all over the moon when baby Grace finally arrived.
I've been rattling on on here since August 2010 it seems, so that well precedes Grace arriving. And I've loved every minute of it and am proud and grateful to have you all as unseen friends.

Have a history teacher explain this if they can.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.

John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.

John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.

Both wives lost a child while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.

Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.

Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.

Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.

Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.

Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.

Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named "Ford."

Kennedy was shot in a car called "Lincoln" made by "Ford."

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here's the "kicker":

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.

A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

AND...................:

Lincoln was shot in a theater and the assassin ran to a warehouse...

Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin ran to a theatre...

Evening All,

Frank you are a star thinking of doing a meal for your poor neighbour! :-D It is good when people look out for one another.

Mandy, how annoying!! Too many things become obsolete too quickly these days. I hope your OH can think of some way to fix it so it holds in, otherwise I think I'd be looking at shower curtains too!! What a shame about your BIL's car, I hope they pay out quickly so he can purchase another soon. I love Lacey's pic with her little ears....cute. lol. How stupid that man making a comment like that!!

We went for a walk along the canal today and along part of the Battle of Bosworth Trail. It was lovely as the ground wasn't muddy but the snow was padded down by a few other walkers.

We then called in MIL's and had to move the latest new saucepan and new teapot so we could sit down!! Why they keep going out in the snow for things that could wait we don't know. They were climbing up the steep, cold, slippery Castle St in Hinckley to get these. (William will know it......lethal when icy!!).

That is nice passing on the emails Liz........all helps morale! Some good ones again today from Shirl and Frank.

Watch it William.......I was a Civil Servant for 27 years.....I'll get you at playtime so get your running shoes on!! LOL. If I had been David I'd have asked to speak to someone who did know and would have suggested his manager!! With all the cuts and fixed term contracts in jobs these days often there isn't the same commitment.

At last my new specs are back from having more lenses in so I'll pick them up in the morning!! I should be able to see the beads better on Friday although we aren't using the tiny ones. :-)

I see the Moorhen was keeping the Pigeons company Jane. :-D We haven't had the Pigeons coming in the garden this week like they have at other snowy times. They are sitting in the trees nearby though. I see Mrs Brown must be a popular taste that I haven't acquired yet then!!! :-D LOL.

<3 <3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR LIZ <3 <3 <3 <3

Best wishes and many happy returns for today. Have you anything special planned, weather permitting? I hope you have a lovely day.

Mel thanks for posting my message and also for explaining about the Stoat and the link. I do love the Queen's ceremonial robes and all those wonderful jewels.

Frank is the pain easing from the bruising? It must have been a nasty fall. I haven't caught up on all the posts yet.

Thank you everyone for your emails and photos; I love getting them. I could roll in the snow at the moment. It is very steamy here today. More threatening fires in Victoria and the ones in NSW are still burning out of control. None near us. We have been lucky so far. Still keeping an eye on the bush out the back. Will be glad when the kids go back to school so they are occupied with other things. We now have floods in Queensland - can't win.

I have been keeping an eye on your weather via the new reports. Take care everyone and stay safe and warm. :-) :-)

Many Happy Returns Liz

William Report 24 Jan 2013 09:19

First off - - - -

A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LIZ - AND MANY MORE TO COME - HAVE A <3 G R E A T <3 DAY

Mel, yes, you are so right. You gave me very valuable help with my family research - then you got me onto this very valuable thread, so glad you did, thank you very very (x 100) much. Just off the cuff, one of my Mum's past female relatives had the christian name Jubilee. Bet that doesn't get used much.

Ann, I don't need to tell you that if you run your mouse over the photos, the date you've been a member since appears, in a my case, a great assist to my sometimes blank memory!

David, that was amazing facts about Lincoln and Kennedy. Nothing so grand, but we have all sorts of coincidences between Carmel and my families as far as dates and days are concerned.
Carmel married me, an Englishman, her father married into the Irish family whose surname is English. Her brother (Irish of course) was born on St George's day, my mother was born on St Patrick's day. My daughters birthday is the day before Carmel's, my Dad's birthday was the day before Carmel's Dad's birthday - and there are loads more, but I won't bore you with them all here.

Right, having come on here just to put in a prescription at our surgery, I'll now go and have some brekky.

Loved Ann's photos but I've already emailed her to tell her so. I'm glad someone is getting out and about and in such a lovely neck of the woods (is that a joke???)
Ann, you won't get me at playtime, I'm gonna hide behind the bike sheds! I shouldn't slag off Civil Servants generally, our council is usually very helpful and although the main office is in Nuneaton, we have a very useful sub-office here in our town.

Take care everyone.

No Kim you're not that at all! It was really kind of you to remember, and I look forward to tomorrow!!! Do hope you are still safe and well from all these awful fires you are suffering from in Aus, and now floods!! dear oh dear, is there no end to it all! Over here is beginning to thaw now thank goodness; It should be much milder this w/end so hopefully we have seen the back of the snow!
Just read your second joke and thought it was hillarious!!!!

Good morning All and Evening KIm,

Sun's out and we have a beautifull blue sky which means I shall have to go shopping today when the icy road is thawed.........pooh.

Still a little snow on the top of the wall and ice on the reflecting pools.
