Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Jan 2013 10:02

Morning All and Evening Kim,

I think it is dry this morning but weverything is still very wet if you know what I mean. No sunshine but a bit brighter.

Ann my mum used to say See a pin and pick it up and all the day you'll have good luck.

I think I really have to go shopping today as we are out of milk and beer now and cereal ( how do you spell that word???) .

Ann what a find on top of the wardrobes :-D Four years is a long time to be hiding that away........ ;-) ;-)

Did'nt set the camera up again last night as it was pretty wet out there.

We've got the Dentist in a couple of weeks too Jane! Thanks for reminding me I shall put it on my fridge door!!! mind you they send.out e-mail reminders about a week beforehand, but even so, it's nice to be prepared!!! Hygenist for me on 1st Feb, so never a dull moment!! Hope all is well with your 'pegs' Jane!
No field for Merlin! still far too boggy, he is now gazing over his new gate watching the world go by and hoping for better things, ie: a sunny day!!!!
Decorations mostly down and packed away - You must leave SOMETHING up till 12th night, else it's bad luck, all year!! and we've had enough of that without encouraging it!!!!
Bins have been - hooray!!

Morning All
Good luck at the dentist Jane, I still have to make an appointment for the dentist, she did check my teeth last November as my gums were bleeding and I had an infection from all the different medication I was on, told her I would get back and see her in the new year when I felt better to cope.

Just had an e-mail from the furniture shop, they will be delivering my sideboards between 3.pm & 6.pm on Monday afternoon and then there was a phone call for OH ,He has bought a new fish tank the lid was broken on the last one, that is to be delivered between 9.am and 4.pm on Monday, hope they all don't arrive at the same time :-0

Going to have a shower haven't had one for the last 6 months PHEW I hear you say :-( smelly) no i have had baths :-) couldn't stand the force of the shower on my head, so have been washing my hair over the bathroom sink with a bowl and jug, but I feel a bit more confident that I am going to give it a go.

Have been nagging at OH for months to go and get an eye test as he is only using magnifying glasses and is squinting,
So as work is quiet today he has phoned and made an appointment so we going down at 12-45 for an eye test AT LAST

Frank Report 3 Jan 2013 11:48

Morning all/Evening Kim,

Still in dressing gowns this end.

Ros has striped the bed and that's in the W/M. We had a very lazy day yesterday, but I must say I don't feel any better for it this morning.

I didn't realy eat yesterday, Mackerel at lunchtime and a big wedge of stilton and garlic and herb biscuits late last night. (no ill effects)

I thought David Attenborough was great last night, we recorded Midsummer and watched it afterwards. What a load of rubbish. If that's the best they can do with the new series, they can keep it :-P :-P :-P

Very mild and still here this morning no breeze whatso ever.

The penny had so many good luck things said about it. Even today if I find a coin in the street/car park. I pick it up and spit on it before putting in my pocket. Thats how that old saying comes to mind "look after the pennies" etc etc.

Has anyone got a "MONEY PLANT" ??? ours is in full flower. I think it's the first time ever. That must be good news !!!

LilyL

LilyL Report 3 Jan 2013 12:20

I agree about Midsomer Frank, complete nonsense!! In fact we turned it over AND recorded Carve her name...., so we were both happy!! D.Attenborough hopefully will be repeated and watched another time. Q.Victoria was very good (well, I'm into history!) What a dragon she was to her daughters, all of whom did 'their own thing' incurring enormous displeasure!! last one tonight, can't wait.
Planting bulbs this afternoon and tidying OH's workshop - well, he can, as for me, maybe/maybe not!!!!

Frank Report 3 Jan 2013 14:20

Pat, dose yourself up. Whisky and hot milk is good. It it won't get rid of the cold it will make you feel good hic, hic.

Liz a bit late for bulbs, isn't it ??? Mine were in and tucked up in Sept/Oct. quite a few bulbs are having a little look out of the ground already. I have three "ICE CREAM TULIPS" in a bowl in the conservatory, and the are beginning to show also.

Hows FACE ACHE Jane this afternoon. ??? It might be me being KNEE ACHE Frank later, I have to go at 3.30 pm. I am going to want a lot of explanation before I let him inject into mt KNEE BONE I can feel it now.

Had a good laugh N Y Day. Lewis has been on about wanting a tortoise. So Ros bought a ceramic one in a box with straw in the bottom and air holes all around the box. When she gave it to him she said be carefull opening it. His little face droped when he found it wasn't real. Can you still buy live ones ??? Will have to get permission from his M & D before I think of buying him one !!!

William Report 3 Jan 2013 15:11

Hi Folks. You might have known - the other diary that Carmel bought me turned up today - s*ds law!!! We were starting to take down decs and pack them up when she came down with a bag cotaining a crossstitch picture she bought last week and that she wanted put on the wall. The smaller bag containing the diary was inside that bag!!!

Yes Ann, the Coventry Ike* hasn't been there all that long and it's 6 stories high. It's situated near where the old buildings are all in the one street, near St John's church. We just go up to floor 6 where the restaruant is, have our cheap brekky and free coffee, then usually leave. We did look round a bit this time as there were some sale items. We found a nice plant pot, decorated green with trees and stuff. Instead of £1.75 it was marked down to £1, then I got another 10p off when I produced my Ike* Family card.

Going to put my feet up now, all this de-decorating has made my back ache. Just the crib out now and some fairy lights along the hall, they are so useful for getting from room to room without keep switching lights on and off. They usually stay up to the nights get a bit lighter.

Afternoon everyone,

All the decorations are down ,i forgot about keeping some thing up until 12th night Liz , i'd better just stand a card back up or some thing ,don't want any bad luck

What bulbs are you putting in ?

Hubby has bought his self a new pressure washer and his one has a scrubber with it so he's outside giving the slabs a good scrub, gets him out from under my hair !! i don't get any thing done when he's here as it's ...shall we have a coffee or shall we have a tea!!

Fiona, your extension looks lovely ,that wall paper design is the one that my sister has picked to go in her lounge :-D but in the pale purply colour .

Oh Frank, fancy teasing poor Lewis :-D i should think you could buy live ones from a good pet shop.

I thought the television was useless over christmas so many repeats ,i still haven't got round to watching Downton yet !!

Here we go ,hubby wants a cuppa ......see i told you !! :-S :-D :-D :-D

We're putting in a few mini daffs and crocus in tubs - you're right Frank they should have gone in ages ago! other years we've put them in in the Autumn and the mice or?????? seemed to eat most of them!! Anyhow, they're still not in as we went out this p.m and bought another Plum Tree from Homebase and then, for a real thrill, went to Morrisons!! Mind you I'm pleased now. as it saves going tomorrow!
Talked to SIL this a.m, and she has been taken off Statins!! However, she is on a strict 'no fat' diet which as far as I could see excluded almost everything you would want to eat!!! She was an Q.A/Hospital Manager in a former life, so she's up for all that, not sure we are!!!!! Have to think about it!

Annx

Annx Report 3 Jan 2013 20:06

EveningAll,

Cheers Shirl!! ;-) Trouble is, apart from an odd sip of OH's real ales, I don't touch alcohol since I had a spate of panic attacks in 2006-8. They came out of the blue, but any kind of stimulant would trigger them as well, including alcohol. When you feel like you are about to die giving these things up is no problem!! Vodka isn't OH's tipple so I might clean my rings with some of that. :-) lol. Jane, the bottles were in cupboards above that went over the bed........not often looked in.

Shirl it sounds absolutely bitterly cold where you are!!! Brrrr!! I couldn't fancy the seafood either.......egg and chips sounds good though.

I had a blitz on some of the house paperwork today and shredded a polythene sack full. We use the sacks the charity people don't collect and drop our shredded paper at a smallholding on the way to MIL's. It is a pain knowing just what to keep in case you need receipts for a possible future insurance claim. :-S I notice the Cur*ys receipts fade to invisible after a while which doesn't help!! Tomorrow I will sort what's left into categories and file it away. Then there is my own paperwork to start on!!!

All I have taken down up to now is the cards!! The rest is another job for tomorrow.

We used a half price voucher at a local pub today; I had veg lasagne with garlic bread and OH had beef lasagne. Then we went to see Quartet after and both enjoyed it......Billy Connelly was very good. I always get an aisle seat if I can so I can stretch my knees. Today, I couldn't help but be drawn to the man sitting the other side of the aisle. All the way through the film I could see his knees in his pale jeans bouncing up and down....definitely just his knees.....it was like a flickering in the corner of your eye and I don't know how he kept it up so long!! I thought perhaps it was an 'affliction' of some sort, but he got up at the end and walked perfectly normally. :-S

It's picking the glasses you want after the eye test that I find hard Fiona. I seem to remember resorting to the magnifying glass a few times before I resigned myself to having glasses too. It was those small print street guides I used at work that were my undoing!! I hope you enjoyed your shower, but can see what you mean about not being able to stand it on your head. Hopefully you will be ok now. I love your room....it looks fresh and airy.

William, the times I had done that too......put one bag inside another and then can't find it! We never learn do we.

Oh Mandy, your OH sounds like mine when he is at home..........I find it hard to settle to anything that needs concentration. lol.

Hope you don't get a bad cold Pat, there are so many coughs and colds about everywhere you go.

Fiona

Fiona Report 3 Jan 2013 20:11
