Morning Just,

You are always dashing in and out Jane, It must be difficult when you haven't got a car of your own, with so many things to do this week.

I am getting short of Bread and Milk, will have to see if the neighbour is going to Tesc#

Will pop off as I have to go and collect something for Ros from the drs.

Frank Report 19 Dec 2012 13:23

I'm back. I rang the Drs. they had got the stuff for Ros made up. Our nice receptionest Sue who lives down thew road, is dropping them off at lunchtime. That will save me a walk. !!

Ros is still rough this this morning, I managed to get her to have a cup of warm milk this morning. but no solids. She is trying to starve it out of her.

She should have been at the hairdressers at 1.00 pm for her Christmas hair do. and look nice for Saturday Evening. She rang and cancelled, and they have very kindly fitted in an appointment for 8.45 am Christmas Eve,

Sue, has just been with the pills, so lets hope we see an improvement soon.

Glad to see Carmel is like Ros. The decorations and baubles are everywhere, She has even decorated the conserveatory She has some Decs. that were her Mothers, and the fairy has been passed onto Conrad. together with others that he liked. Keep them in the family.

Mel, I bet your fingures are saying "THANKS" for no more wreaths and rings. lol lol.

I see I have (I THINK) a couple of Birthday cards in the post today. Thanks to whoever in advance.

I rang the restaurant yesterday to confirm the booking for Saturday. The guy checked and said "yes sir everything recorded" I was a bit worried, as the girl who took the booking didn't ask for a name or contact No. which is unusual. I would hate to turn up to find it wasn't booked.

I have told Ros about my daughter sending photo's, she's not that impressed that she is taking the trouble after all these years. I won't mention it anymore, and just play it by ear. The baby was born the day after Ros's birthday, so won't be able to forget that !!!

I've gor a Sheep-sh## pie, that I made last week out of the freezer for my dinner tonight. I only need to boil and mash some potato to go on top, with some grated cheese and I will do a few brussels for myself. Easy dinner.

Good to see your snowman has sobered up Mandy ;-) Have you got your son and family over for Christmas day. It's difficult when they have partners, mine alternate from one set of parents one year to the other the next.

Well that's the ironing done until the 7th January, decided to take two weeks off, I'm not even going to think about how much will be waiting for me then.

Daughter phoned, dear little Harry came down the stairs yesterday morning calling me, expecting me to still be there, Chloe is now 7 weeks old Jane.

Sai**bury have done it again £9 off next shop of over £60, I'll go and get some goodies to take with me to my daughters, shan't want much 'normal' shopping as I will be away nearly a week.

Thanks for the photos William, I don't go in for many decorations, just the tree. Christmas cards and a wreath on the front door but have to say your hearth looks very pretty, that bucket was a bargain.

Phew I am pooped.I seem to have spent a lot of money but don't have a lot to show for it :-S
I did get to Beckwort* Frank.Lovely watching everyone skate(I just watched from the sidelines ) :-D.it disappointing though as a lot of shelves were empty and I couldn't get some of the things `i had especially gone for :-S.But it was nice just to have a mosey around.
This morning when I was dusting Hannah's room I thought I would have a look in the drawers of an old (not sure if it called a Captains Chest of drawers).Anyway that was the end of cleaning .I found Medals,Old coins an old type of Brownie Camera and other bits and bobs. They all belonged to one of Chris's Uncles. Now Hannah's room is in a right mess as I spread everything out.So tomorrows job is to go and tidy it all up again :-S

I hope Carmel's appointment went ok William .
And Ros,that was lucky her managing to get an appointment on Xmas eve.

Maureen lucky you not having to buy much for Xmas.I think I am done now ,all but a few last fresh things I will get maybe at the weekend.
The birds will be ok as I nipped to the little garden shop and stocked up on coconuts and peanuts.
One present I haven't got though is Chesters !!!How could I have forgotten him :-|

It is absolutely tipping it down here now.OH! Chris has just arrived. He has been to Waitr*** again and has come in with 4 Massive bags.Lord know what he has bought and where it will all go.I bet he has got some nice things though :-D...I better go and investigate ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 Dec 2012 18:12

Went and collected our pills today and popped in the shop as I saw a ring was missing so they have sold another one. When I got in there they asked me for 4 more with no flowers for an order!!!!!! So I took the remaining three left at the shop and now I have another one to make. I thought I was finished for this year!! Still more money in the old pocket.

Just had my shower and washed my hair this afternoon so now I only have to dress myself to go to the dinner tonight. Looking forward to having a meal I did'nt cook as I hav'nt had dinner out since August.

William

William Report 19 Dec 2012 19:25

Well Ann, when you have a bad day you certainly have a B A D day!!!
For one thing to go wrong is a shame and a nuisance, when you have a whole run of them like you had, well, all I can say is do the lottery, maybe you'll get the jackpot on that too !!! (But don't lose your ticket.)
I take it you knew where OH was during the Nuneaton time? When we split up for just a few minutes, Carmel can disappear like the invisible man (or should that be woman?) I'll say "just stay around here", or "only go to that shop", but no, she does a vanishing act. I could even be in the same store and can't see her. Then I have to use my 'magic whistle'. When we had our cat, Holly, she would come to a certain whistle I made, no matter where she was. So, knowing Carmel knows that sound, I just keep whistling till she homes in on it. Mind you, I sometimes get funny looks from other shoppers and assistants ;-) Thankfully, it's nothing like a 'wolf-whistle' :-D
So, Ann, let's hope that's the last day like that you have and you can get on to enjoy the Christmas period without anymore problems cropping up.

We went to the hospital this afternoon about Carmel's tongue and the Lichen problem. I think Frank will know that they said - there's nothing to be done about, she's got it and that's that. Neither of us liked the manner of the doctor she saw, she was going on about diet, drinks, and we just said, no, doesn't apply. It's not too bad at present and we don't want her going on steroids, that's just looking for another load of problems. So we weren't very happy bunnies when we came away. But hey, nobody died!!!

Looking forward to the last part of Last Tango tonight. How more complicated can the plot get? It has been terrific and I couldn't single out one cast member to be better than another. Then tomorrow night is The Town, that's good too, but entirely different.

Frank, W C H was just a name to me because all that happened in 1935 and we moved to Chadwell Heath in 1940 because of the bombing. It wasn't until much recent times that I even knew where it was located. We found out that Carmel's old school friend lived in Dover Road, off Wanstead Flats and one trip down to see my Dad we decided to look her up. It was then when I had to pass Whipps Cross Hospital to get to her place that I finally knew where it was.

Jane Report 19 Dec 2012 19:40

Of course it 's fine David .except I am a plain Jane (no Y) :-D.
I just rang my old Primary school teacher to wish her a Merry Christmas. She will be 93 in May.She is pretty housebound now ,unless someone takes her anywhere, but mentally 'right on the ball'..She told me she had a coffee morning yesterday for the WI ,but only 17 people turned up. 17 !!!!!!!!!! .She thinks that the rest were busy lol.
To have 17 for a coffee morning is damn good at the age of 92 :-D She asked me how long ago did my Mum die .I said it was 2005 .She still misses Mum :-( They were very good friends for years right back to the late 60's.

Tomorrow I will am going to Fitz's at lunch time. His boiler has packed up ..so he better have the log fire going.I will take my camera and see if I can get a nice one of their tree and decs.He will pick me up at 12 as I have yet another load of washing :-S.Hopefully this will be the last time .........He hasn't found anymore mutilated Pheasants in his wine store :-D :-D

I remember at school, being in the eldest year of the primary class nativity play.
Was playing a shepherd or something.
The whole school and the teachers were watching.
At the end as we traipsed off back to the class room I said reather loudly
"we didn't get a clap"
The teacher clapped me around the easr for my trouble.

Morning/Evening All

It is a day for staying under the duvet.Dark and wet :-S.It is nice though to have the Christmas lights on to brighten the place up.

David that was uncalled for to get yours ear bashed by the teacher.I take it you didn't go into the Acting Profession then ;-) ;-)

I have lots to get done this morning before Fitz picks me up at 12 ,so will get on now.

Morning all/Evening Kim,

David it's fine having my contact address. I would like yours, so I can forward the "JOKES"

Horrible day here again, RAIN RAIN RAIN. and we have to go to the Grave at Earls Barton to do M & D wreath and flowers. I hope Ros is able to drive there and back without wanting the toilet. I will try to make her stay in the car while I do the deed, but I think i am dreeming, she will want to do it herself, as always. !!!

Ros has sat and cut up loads of root veg for a stew. I got a big slice of SHIN OF BEEF out last nigfht. Everything is in the big Saucepan, and can simmer away for a few hours. It smells great already.

We have decided to come home from Conrads on the Thursday, we can then have Lewis for a few days. Possible till New Years Day. when we go back to Harvey's for dinner. Harvey and Julia are going to a Fancy Dress Party, N Y Eve and Lewis isn't bothered about going.

Glad you all are getting all the final bits of shopping ready for Christmas. I am lucky I don't have that job.

When we go to Conrad's Xmas Eve, I will try to get all the veg done for Christmas day, they can to in bags or water and put in the fridge/garage.

Ros has managed one weetabi# this morning, so hope it stays in place !!!

Jane

Jane Report 20 Dec 2012 11:51

Frank .Please can you send me that 'INNER PEACE email again.I thought I forwarded it to someone but deleted it instead :-S
Oh I do hope Ros keeps her Weetab** in her tum.Not a nice day to be going to a grave. It is so miserable out there.
I have just been watching our Gt Spotted Woodpecker on the Coconut. But I had to sit so still as one tiny movement and he was off.

Fitz is here .Must go.

Fine by me too David.

Thought I might start wrapping some Christmas presents this afternoon. Time is getting on and I shall be back at daughters tomorrow, her F-i-l is in hospital and she wants to go and see him but will only leave Chloe with me. Looking forward to being with Harry again too. Daughter says when I ring her mobile a photo of me from 20 years ago comes up and Harry says Nana, can't have aged that much then :-D

Poor Carmel, sounds like it's something she will have to live with William, some doctors need to improve their bedside manner don't they. You're right about steroids though, sometimes the side effects are worse than what you're taking them for.

Annx Report 20 Dec 2012 15:46

Afternoon All,

That's fine David.......will add you to my list. That sort of thing is puzzling to a child......you tell the truth.....and you are still wrong!! lol.

William, now I can hear the ringing tone again on my mobile, we are fine when we go out.........otherwise, as you say, other halves have a way of vanishing into thin air, whatever they say!! :-S It is a pity they can't do more for Carmel's tongue, but steroids can have side effects. We were back at Nuneaton yesterday and OH got a book each for his dad and himself and used up an offer and a gift voucher. I had another look at some glasses (still no joy!) and got some craft bags from the W*orks. Then we carried on to Peatling Parva for our carvery. It was packed yesterday, so we sat away from the parties down in another room where the carvery is. They told us when the carvery was ready first, so we didn't have to queue, then, despite being rushed off their feet, they came 3 times to ask if they could get us more tea (no extra cost). :-D

Hope you had a nice meal Mel, I remember the food was good from previous years! You have done well with your wreaths this year......orders coming in now!! You don't see men smoking pipes much anymore either.......often would go with a cravat. I remember my grandad wearing a dark paisley print thing around his neck, but am not sure if that was a muffler. The only time I saw dad's dad, he had a Trilby on with a white, silky kind of neckscarf and a navy wool coat.

Ah, how lovely little Harry was hoping you were still there Maureen! It seems he has already got the gift of knowing the right thing to say as well!! lol. He will go far I think. :-D

It sounds as if Ros is picking up a bit Frank. Better to have had it now than after the weekend. She has been lucky to get appointments changed. My cold seems to have gone very quickly this time and OH's cough is much better.......we just seem to run out of steam quickly!!

I just need to get a few nice desserts and some sausage rolls for the freezer, then it is just the fresh veg nearer the time.

Frank

Frank Report 20 Dec 2012 17:25

. When we werre coming back from the Cemetry ,I stopped of to get some Oxtail and Tomato soup to add to the stew Heated it back up, and it smelt so good I had a big bowl there and then. Ros had a tiny bit, as least she had some. I will have more as the evening wears on,. with some nice crusty rolls

SORRY MANDY. I should have given you a RED WARNING. Weren't some of those amimals large. ???

I said to Ros that if she is no better tomorrow, I will call off Saturday night. it will give the restaurant time to relist the availability of the table, I can also let the Family know. We can do it again in the New Year.

It has rained here all day, The main road from the M 1 was blocked off at a junction by a police vehicle. The road was coned off and there was a BMW estate parked (if you can call it that) with all FOUR TYRES FLAT. I recon he had been over a "STINGER" in a police chase. The traffic sone got moving once passed it. All the RUBBER NECKERS held up the traffic.

The old cravet is certainly unfashionable now. I had one as a present when I was 17. I also had a large silk white scarf, that my dad use to wear. With my big Camel hair overcoat, white scarf and black swede boots, I was the bees knees.

Jane Report 20 Dec 2012 18:22

I'm having big sausages for dinner tonight ;-) ;-).Crikey where does that young man keep it????

I spent a lovely couple of hours down at Fitz's while my washing was in.He had lit the fire and we had a spot of lunch. He showed me their Wedding Photos(1980).He had the biggest red Buttonhole flower .Looked the size of a dinner plate lolol.
Bella (his Mothers cat sat on my lap and enjoyed a nice fuss.

The Brook down the bottom of the lane under the little bridge is ready to burst.Part of the lane was flooded.I just hope the cleared ditch across the road and the unblocked Culvert will keep anything away from us.Brigstock a few miles away is
impassible :-S

I think our back door is rotten,as the rain has found its way through the seam

where the sill joins the door and the mat inside is quite wet :-S :-S.
I had a nasty dream last night about us getting flooded out again.

Frank I think it is a good idea to cancel the meal if Ros is not back to normal. It won't be much fun for her, plus she won't want to be passing anything on to anyone else.
I also found your Birthday card here today.I was sure it went in the post.So sorry you will not be getting one from me :-( :-(. My BIL won't get his either as that one was with yours !!!!! I'm hopeless.

I really am having sausages tonight but they are Chipolatas :-D :-D. I have a tray of bits of Parsnip,Carrot,Leek and Mushroom and some nice looking but strange Chips.

Fitz was so stressed out when he picked me up.As well as their boiler not working.Their house phone is also not working. It was fixed on Tuesday !!!!!.

I have a couple of pics of their Christmas Trees and Decs.I will forward them on later.
Chris has just come in so I better go and greet :-D
