Oh dear Shirl ...nothing came through from you :-S :-S...We must be incompatible lol
I know what you mean about things not smelling like Christmas.Even the real trees don't have the same smell these days.Maybe my sense of smell isn't as good as it used to be.I used to love walking into the lounge first thing in the morning and getting that lovely waft of Christmas tree.I think it is the needle fast ones that lack the smell.
I will have a good sniff at all the trees tomorrow when I go to buy one :-D :-D

I loved the smell of the oranges that we used to do at christmas ,making the patterns on the oranges by piercing them with cloves and then hanging them by a ribbon .

Glad to see Chris. has some sense.!!!

Shirl, Thanks for sending on the card, did you include Mel,Pat,Mandy. It seems that certain people don't get them. But my love and best wishes go out to you all xxxx
I also got your card this morning with the photo's of JR. THANKS.
Haven't been around here today, We took John and Carolyn to Luton Airport this morning.Motorway was packed both ways. Then there was a shunt northbound righjt opposite us.(I think they were admiring my looks !!!!) The traffic built up for miles and miles in a matter of minutes. We stopped off at Toddington to see Lewis and Julia, but they were out, so we came back up the A 5 through Towcester.

I delivered all the cards in the close. Had to knock on one door. I had put the wrong card in their letter box. !!! I then went for a pint or three. Came home, had lunch and a doze. Ros was asleep on the sofa.

Jan rang to say she was calling in for a cuppa on her way back from Milton nKeyes. She left here about 6.30 pm loaded down with goodies that Ros has bought for Christmas. I went to the freezer and got out the LARGE joint of pork, and a load more meats, to save them buying before Christmas, I know they are struggling at the moment. So it's nice to treat them, after the way they have treated us over the years.

Ros had her Chinese, and I had F & C. from Towcester. (the best in the County)

The boys wanted to come to us for my Birthday and there would have been EIGHT of us with Lewis and Jans G.daughter Ella. So tonight I have booked a TABLE at a nice Chinese Restaurant over looking Billing Lakes. I have rung and told them it will be my treat. It's getting a habit, Ros's last time and Lewis's before that. But I will do it as long as I can.

See you in the morning.

BL####y X FACTOR STILL ON.

EBAY here I come.

Good morning all and it does look promising, I've just emailed you all a photo of the sky here this morning and I've never seen it like this in the 27 years we've lived here. Absolutely stunning.

Thanks to you all for your concern about Carmel, she's not been at all well these past couple of days. Our grandson came over on Friday morning for a visit and by the time he left at 1.30pm to go do his Christmas shopping, Carmel was ready to go off to bed for a rest. Yesterday she felt tired and sickly all day, although she never gets physically sick. Not my girl at all and I'm duly worried. It may all be a lot to do with her tongue, we don't know, except she's having trouble again with her eating and has an awful taste in her mouth. She has to see the maxilofacial specialist again on December 19th, so we''ll have to see what's what then.

Ann, I was interested in what you had to say about your chloresterol. I went to the docs on Monday because I was having dizzy spells and have started to get migraines. One of the things was to get a blood test done and I went for the results on Monday. He said it was all OK except my chloresterol, it was higher that he would and was higher than last time. No one ever mentioned it last time? It was 7.1, so I checked it out on-line and knew that was in the upper limits. He's put me on tablets to get it down, and there's me that hardly eats anything in the 'wrong' bracket', if at all!!! He also had me go for an eye test, but my vision has hardly changed but the optician said he would say I'm getting 'occular migraiine', that's a migraine without a headache. I don't want to go to the hospital eye dept because you can be there all day long at Coventry Uni hospital, no way, I've got Carmel to think about. Anyway, I will just have to see what transpires.
Sorry to bore you with all this but it's nice to get it off my mind. I never knew anything but either complaints except that Carmel has always suffered from migraines & headaches combined.

Anyway, off to 'grill' my bacon this morning, only 2 rashers, but hey, I've still got to eat - and I'm sure mushrooms are healthy for me! C Y A L

Morning All and Evening Kim,

William it dos'nt have to be what you eat that causes high cholestrol it can just be your bodies make up. Some people get it some don't........ I have been on a statin for some years now which is a real beast for me as you can't eat gratefruit when you are on them and it was the main fruit I ate every day and the red gratefruit drink or juice.
My count was very high but the pills certainly have brought it down to about 5.05.

Bit cloudy and dull here today with that light rain................

Oh out ringing so I better get the brekky ready for when he gets in and yes I am having 2 rashers with mine too. We always have todays eggs with mushrooms toms frankfurter and today I have fried mash tato as I have'nt done any greens to have bubble and squeak. I cold though................................ Have cut out the fried bread.....boo hoo.

Frank Report 9 Dec 2012 11:49

Good on you Mel, Have what you fancy. If only I COULD !!!! lol lol
I had toast and MY MATE with a couple of cups of tea. Made a change from my Bacon sarnies. Ros only ever has her Wheatab## with cold milk and Canderre#. Boring or what !!!

My cholestrol is about normal, as I am on tablets for it, together with Blood pressure, depression, anger, and anything else to doctor thinks I need. Still haven't been back to see him, but I might make an appointment on Monday, as my left knee is starting to let me down again, I went down twice yesterday in the lounge.

Ros wants to get the outside lights up today, so I will be step holder and buntangler of the wires. There are bound to be a few choice words. Will let you know how it goes

Cold out this morning, but plenty os sunshine. So I will wrap up warm and do my duty. :-D :-D :-D

I might try to get my pass signed for this afternoon. West Ham play Liverpool at 4.00 pm on SK# So it will havr to be at the pub.

Tree sitting outside in it's net :-D I think it will not be put up today,as I am not prepared and the decs are still in the loft.
I have been and posted the Cards in the Scout Post, been to Nex* to pick up an order and bought a sack of salt for the drive. We can't let it get bad again like last week.

There is a nice joint of Beef cooking driving Chester mad lol.I just trimmed a bit off the end for him,but we won't be eating until early evening.

The sky is looking very wintery and the clouds are whooshing by at a fair speed.I don't know if they are snowy or rainy. But I'm glad I have been out and done everything. So now I am in for the rest of the day.

Frank don't you let that knee of yours give way while you are up a ladder :-S :-S.Bite your tongue too if you feel a rush of bad language :-D :-D.Putting up lights has to be the worst part of decorating for Xmas.

Fitz has four sets on the big tree and another couple on the one in the lounge.More going up the banisters and 'm sure more somewhere else that I didn't spot.Their tree hasn't been decorated yet.Just the lights on.Georgette likes to use cut off bits of tree to decorate around the huge fireplace. It always looks spectacular at their house at Christmas.Fitz says he could do without it all and it is Georgette who likes all the Fuss.
I just had a conversation with James. The only time I have never cooked Xmas Dinner was the one year Hannah cooked at her house in Market Harborough.James said he just has to be here and nowhere else.Hannah says the same.Shame in a way .I would quite like one year just not to bother with all the cooking.John is going to his parents and Jess is going to hers for Xmas.So it will just be the 4 of us.
I remember as a girl we all had to get dressed up in our best clothes on Christmas Day.Frilly frocks and all.I think we had breakfast and then got dressed ,and once all the dishes were done and things were on the go in the oven we could then open the presents. Christmas stockings (or pillow cases ) had been done in the early hours lol.I remember dragging my pillow case full of goodies into Mum and Dad saying "LOOK LOOK see what Father Christmas has brought me".I bet they had only just gone to bed.Just like us with Hannah and James .Opening selection boxes peeling the foil off the chocolate coins and feeling sick by Breakfast Time :-S
I suggested to James just now that we put the tree in a different place..No way will that happen .It has to go where it always goes.Actually I really do love tradition ,where we do exactly the same every year.Oh I could go on ,but better take a breath now :-D
