Morning all and evening Kim,
Not so cold today. There was a frost last night but no sign of it now. The frost stayed in the garden in places yesterday and was still there when I shut the chickens in.
I have to go and get chicken food today and make the wreath for the advent ring. I only have to put it together as I have done most of the wiring and only have the holly and ivy to do.

We must have been typing at the same time Jane.
Oh has just come in and said his hands are cold so it must be colder than yesterday!! I did'nt think it was. He let the chickens out this morning so I hav'nt really been out there yet but he said his hands were'nt cold yesterday and he was out there all day and into the evening. He was making a candlestick and inlaid all the stem with copper wire.

Morning all/Evening Kim.
Thick frost here this morning. I was up at 7.00 and looked down thwe close, every car was covered in frost. I thought "it's great, that I don't have to go out and defrost the car, before going to work".
Had a nice breakfast this morning, three rashers, two eggs, tomatoes, baked beans on two slices of toast, and three big cups of tea. That will see me through till tonight.
Yes Jane, Churchill Ave/Road in Burton was the hive of extra marital relationships. The kitchens were on the front of the house, and when the woman wanted to let her "Bit on the side" know the hushband was at work/ out. Out would come the O M O box on the kitchen window sill.
I never noticed James turning into your drive. I would liked to have meet him !!!
We have a lady coming 5.30/6.00 pm tonight about DOG SITTING You can do it for a day, a weekend or for holidays and hospital stays. We would only want a small dog, as I wouldn't be able to handle a Lab. size taking it for walks. Will let you know how it goes.
I am sitting bear chested, as we have the heating on,
Ros has just bought in a coffee, so will see you later.

Afternoon everyone,
I've just come on here to calm down , hubby had a ticket come through for some bricks.....we've only been charged £120 for two bl**dy wooden pallets that the bricks came on , hubby went onto the store and the manager said we have to pay it ,as the bricks came on them ...never heard just rubbish in all my life ,we've never been charged for pallets before , they should have said when hubby priced the bricks that the pallets would have to be paid for . So i rang head office, see what they had to say about it ....still waiting for a call back ,she was getting in touch with the Dereham branch about it.
It's not the first time we've had trouble with them , hubby returned some bricks ,which they said they would take back if he had to many ,then the next thing is they couldn't give us the money back until they sold them !!! they had them in stock in the first place !! They had them five months !! then they sent them to another branch and we had to pay !! £175 to move them to another branch !!
Seething here i am , so don't nobody talk to me ,i might bite your head off!! :-S :-S :-D
Other than that it's a nice sunny day after the frost .
Ann, it's in the post :-D
Is it me or has the writing got bigger on here ?

Much much colder today, have had the heating on all day.
That's a good one about the OMO, never knew that.
Is it safe to talk to you Mandy .............it is maddening though when you feel you've been screwed over, can't see why you would have to pay for them to move them to another branch either.
I'm not having a very successful day, two cards I started today have gone in the reject file, still, I'm not going to let it bother me, will just try something else instead.
Your watch is lovely Ann.
What about the heated rollers to go with the Amami. Quite a few on Williams list I can remember but not all, perhaps I'm not so old after all ;-)

Ann, thanks for relaying Jane's photos on. Looking at all that water at her place took my mind back to an old radio programme with Richard (Dicky) Murdoch - Much Binding in the Marsh!! Water water everywhere, not a drop to drink.
Been very cold here all day but nice and sunny. In fact I don't know if I picked up a speeding ticket this morning (must have been doing all of 32 m p h) while going through Brinklow. I couldn't see my speedo as the low sun was directly in my eyes and I couldn't make out my speedo even with the dash lights on. All I know is that two hi-viz jacketed people where on the pavement with what could have been a speed gun!
Now I can hardly see across the road as the fog is closing in at 3.45.
Was highly amused at Frank's email about the 'green thing', recycling etc. I read the bit about razor blades and my mind went back to a device my Dad had. It was a green glass device for sharpening double edged (Gillete) razor blades. It was as wide as the blade, with a half round dip in it, you placed the blade on it, put your finger on the top and worked it side to side, reveresed the blade and did the same the other side, thus you were supposed to sharpen the blade. Don't know whatever happened to it. Probably got thrown out when the 'throw-away' razors came in. How ironic!!!
Has anyone still got their old identity card? I still have mine here. I read today that they were originally issued from 1939 and were abolished in February 1952. Those of us that had them still retain the number as our National Insurance number.
Mandy, I think you should go public about those bricks. That firm doesn't deserve to be in business. I've heard about coboy builders, now it's cowboy builders merchants! Sound like a bunch of crooks to me.
Maureen, there was an old saying 'Friday night is Amami night'

LOL Mandy ,you and me sound a little wound up. I just got a bit of a rollicking for being so stupid by trying the washing machine.I could have electrocuted myself :-0 :-0. When I was carrying my rather large bag of washing down the lane this man with his dog caught up with me and he asked my if I was going CAMPING !!!!.He probably thought I was carrying a tent lolol. It was flipping heavy.I did ask Fitz to give me a lift back after my 2 loads were done as it was so much heavier. So now my house is just like Widow Twanky's . I felt like a refugee with all my belongings on my back going down the lane. It could be ages before someone comes to say if we are eligible for new machines as nothing can be tested until a dry certificate has been issued. So I can still see us at Christmas without a big freezer etc. That means now I can't buy things in advance to freeze :-S Bu**** I say.
Frank .You and Ros are just the perfect people to look after peoples dogs .I am sure whoever comes to talk to you will want to snap you up.More people are needed like you .
I feel quite frazzled now (not in the electrocuted sense ) but it did freak me out with the loud bang.I that is a definite sign that the washing machine is a goner.
I had planned to write some cards this afternoon but now just haven't got the oomph to begin. Maureen,it must be very frustrating to have to put some of your hard work into the reject bin.How many cards do you actually paint for Xmas??? I saw a notice for the Scout Post today. They deliver Xmas Cards in the local area and surrounding villages for 20p per card.Bargain :-D

No William it's not the bricks :-D it's the pallets !! they want us to pay for them.
Oh Jane you were lucky :-S not only could you have electrocuted your self but you might have blown all the electrics in the house too :-S
I still feel all worked up ,and to top it all the people who hubby is working for has rung him and asked if he would run them to Norwich as Sainb*ry's have messed up their delivery order ....... i am not a happy bunny i can tell you ....do feel a bit mean though as the chap has just had a new hip and carn't drive yet ,but hubby will now catch all the traffic !!! he's a soft touch really !!
William those yellow coated people might just have been speed wardens if it was only a village ,they just send your details to the police and you get a warning letter from them ,don't think they can issue a ticket .

Mandy I know it was the pallets but hubby should have been told when he ordered them he would have to pay for the pallets too. I would get in touch with the tfair trading people and ask them about it. Pallets are only made with reject wood. I am sure they should'nt be aloud to do that. You need Frank to sort them out for you as he's good at that!! :-D :-D
Got my Spike Hedgehog food and it's a nice big bag and it only cost me £8.75. On the net it is £14.99. It says on the pack to feed 20grms a night. That is under an ounce as thats 25grms. My Hogwart would be sliding his dish along the wire on his cage if I fed him that amount.
I still can't work out how to sex it!!!! Everytime I pick it up it just rolls in a tight ball and you can just about see it's nose sometimes. I may have to put it on a peice of glass so I can look underneath when he unrolls but shall have to have oh to hand incase it walks off!!! Poor little Hogwart.
When I rang the lady who give advice and treatment to hedgehogs in our area she roared with laughter when I told he it was c alled Hogwart!! We have never had a Hogwart she said. :-D

Yes Mandy, I realised it was only the pallets (ONLY! what am I on about???) and I think they had a b+*-%y cheek expecting you fork out that amount for some scrap wood. There's places around here they'll pay you to take pallets away.At that rate you pay for the pallets and get the bricks FREE!!! I think Mel's right, Office of Fair Trading, see what they say, and let those B(censored)s know what way you're treating it.
I'm waiting for the lady on here to admit she is old enough to remember Spirella corsetry!!! Now there's a blast from the past . . . .
I hope you're right about the yellow coats Mel, as I say I couldn't tell you what speed I was doing, it was hard enough just looking ahead with the sun as it was, I only noticed them because they were to the shaded side. I couldn't have been going very fast as there were two cars in front of me. However, knowing my luck this year . . . At least I don't have all Jane's problems.

Mandy, I wish I was closer. I would take that issue up for you. They wouldn't know what hit them and their feet wouldn't have touched the ground. Trading Standards should be able to help.
Jane, I though you went to the hairdressers to have your hair done, !!! why try to perm it with the electricity. You were a lucky girl. Can't leave you alone for a minute :-0 :-0 :-0
Will, I have an old Razor in the garage. where you put a single blabe in this tin thing and stroop up and down to sharpen the blade. Will have to look it out for the make. I would think it's a collectors piece by now. !!! Also those men may have been tdoing a survey of the road/pavement. Did they have a clipboard or one of those bike wheel things ???
Had to smile Mel, just imagining Hogwart pushing his dish along bit like Oliver Twist. !!!! I WANT MORE
The young lady called this evening about dog minding. They have bought a franchise, and are starting from scratch in this area. They require you to take on dogs of your choice for a minimum of SIXTY days a year. They will pay you £9.00 per dog per day. The owner, will be responsible for insurance and supplying all food, bedding etc. anfd you geyt to meet the owners and dogs before you commit yourself. So if I am NEEDED BY ANYONE OF YOU> BOOK NOW> for dog sitting, that is. NO CHARGE.

Mel, the candlestick your OH is making with inlaid copper sounds really nice. I see one site suggests stroking the Hedgehog's back till it uncurls, then roll it on it's side to get a peek......I can see it snapping shut again though!!
Frank, I wouldn't mind dog sitting like that. I think there was something called the CinnamonTrust that arranged that sort of thing. I don't think my knees would cope with a boisterous lab either, but I do love them!! I must say you have sent some cracking emails lately........OH was saying how he laughed out loud at some of them. He especially liked the one with the rude names and the cartoon one that started with the couple in bed with their laptops!! lol.
Oh Jane, you'll end up with a bad back, carting your washing up the lane to Fitz's.......I remember it was a very long lane!! Nearly made your new hairdo stand on end as well with the washing machine.....whatever next! :-S It is a real nuisance if you can't get your white goods replaced quickly, it is the main time of the year when you need them. What a brilliant idea the Scouts had to deliver letters!!
What a shame about your cards Maureen........some days are better than others for doing creative things aren't they........I really have to be in the right frame of mind for some things.
William, I still have my ID Card and Ration Book. No National Insurance number on mine as I was too young, just my National Health number. Interestingly, I see I had had 3 addresses before I was 4 years old . I also have a Fuel Ration book, although it was never used ......was that the 60s?
Mandy, many, many thanks.......I'm sure I 'owe' you though!! I'm not surprised you are fuming, that price for 2 pallets sounds extortionate as you can buy them for about £25 each!!! It sounds like a new rip-off that's probably hidden in the small print. We didn't have to pay when our slabs were delivered last year, I had never heard of this before. It makes you feel like saying deliver without the pallets please......after all the pallets are to help them!!
We had a good class today, making netting to cover baubles (not finished though!) The teacher brought one she'd done to show us that looked very good in blue and silver. I couldn't believe it when she said the bauble in the middle was the ball out of a M*m Rollette Deodorant!!!!!

Frank, be interesting to know what that razor thingy's name is, let me know if you find it. Do you remember the Rolls razors? That came in the chrome case device that had a stropping stone fitted in the base. No, the hi-viz coaters never had a measuring wheel so I don't think they were doing surveying/measuring. What I saw of them I think it was amale & female.
Ann, I didn't get to keep my ration book but I do still have the petrol rationing book here. I've also got the rent book from 1940's for our house in Chadwell Heath until Dad bought it as a sitting tenant. It even records the war damage from the doodle bug and V2 rocket and the repairs carried out.
Carmel's up now, going for brekky.
Before the days of Nectar card and loyalty points, anyone got any Green Shield stamps they didn't redeem?????

Morning all/Evening Kim.
Will, You bought the razor to mind. YES the Rolls that's the make. I don't have my identity card but remember the Numbrer CDVJ 89 10. Also remember the Salt loaf. 3 lb of salf wrapped in blue paper. Loose tea, sugar, butter. Green shield stamps were the for runner of argo#. I was very lucky with those, My local garage petrol man was a friend. When I was on the ROAD a lot I always filled up with him and he would give me sheets and sheets of them. We got so many things from the shop in Northampton. We found loads of stamps when we cleared Ros's M & D house. I bet there are thousands still llying in draws, around the Country. :-D :-D :-D
Heavy frost last night, I went our to clear Ros's car, before she went to meet Martine and it was RAINING. The frost was sliding down the windows on the car. Brighjt sunshine at the moment.
Down the pub 12.30 pm. Chelsea V West Ham. Come on you HAMMERS> !!!
