Jane Report 25 Nov 2012 19:53

Thanks everyone for your concerns. It's been a bl****y nightmare.I feel drained(but we mustn't mention drains)I have a company coming out sometime tomorrow to check our main drainage pipe.
Chris has made the sensible decision not to go to work tomorrow.Someone else will just have to cover for him.No sleep last night will catch up tomorrow, and even more if he is up tonight keeping an eye on things.I think we are forecast more rain in the night :-S

Special thanks to you Frank for offering to come over to help.I think we might be a sitting duck again tonight ,but hopefully now the water has gone done ,if it is not too heavy rain we might survive.(But who knows. In the lap of the Gods)

Fitz has just dropped off all my washing he dried in his tumble drier. All shirts for Chris and James for the week ahead.

Annx Report 25 Nov 2012 20:44

Thank goodness the water has gone down now Jane........I hope it stays that way for you. Good old Fitz ........it's a good job he's not in the same boat (sorry, shouldn't mention boats either!) I seem to remember we drove upwards to his place, so he should be ok. I can't believe this has happened to you, you must only have just put a lot back in the garage. Did the water come up into the garage from the manhole or run in from your drive?

Frank Report 25 Nov 2012 21:04

Glad everything is settleing down for you Jane, As I said try not to think about it and get a nights sleep, with the consolation that the front drain has been cleared.

Have spoken to Harvey, He said the trolly will be O.K. he will steam clean it, and disinfect it. It will only come in doors when needed. Will call you . with view to collecting Wed/Thurs. If you havent already disposed of it !!!!

Jane,i'd say from your house to the drain in the street is regarded as your resposibility.Drain rods will shift any obstruction.

Once in the street the responsibility becomes the that of your water authority or perhaps Fastflow.

My last posting seens out of place when people are under water.

I apologise for it Jane

Much better morning here thank goodness, very calm and even some blue sky!! Do hope that you are feeling a it better Jane and that the situation is not as bad as it seemed. Yes David, you are right, we were told this when we had blocked drains in Somerset - anything like that within the boundaries of your property is your responsibility; but as you say, perhaps not the right time to mention it! Millie is due for a makeover this am, so must get on'

Hi All,

Jane I do hope things are ok this morning waterwise! After our conversation last night I have been thinking of you. Hope you got some sleep last night too.

Well it is the usual here today dull and raining. Not a sight of a scrap of blue sky here Liz.

I forgot the craft fair yesterday in the village. Sunday does seem to be a funny day for them. I can't ever remember them being on that day before. Sometimes we have had them in the week but usually a Saturday so when I go down for the paper I remember...... :-( I don't go to the shop much on a Sunday, and then only if I run out of milk.

Hi again from a very SAD boy. Ros has been throught my WALLDROBE and got rid of 67 shirts and some trousers. WHAT am I going to wear :-D :-D :-D While I am at it I think I will sort through my shoes, trainers, sandels and slippers. There will be people out there, better dressed than me !!!!

We had a bag from Northants ans Warks Air Ambulance. There are now THREE BAGS to go out tomorrow. We won't give to these firms that "PAY" this one or that one. We like to know it goes to a Charity Shop. We usually give it to Val next door who works for Willen Hospice Shop in Towcester.

Still drizzleling here. and no sign of the cloud lifting.

Thank you Frank for the poem - VERY moving - I'm not particularly religious but I sometimes feel that I/we have a 'guardian angel 'who is 'on the case' especially when things are really difficult, ie: our neighbour commotion. After my mother died her brother, my younger uncle, was very supportive and 'there' for me/us, since he died (aged 67!) some 15 years ago, I have often felt that he is still taking care of us and steering us in the right direction. Fanciful, probably, but it is a feeling I get. Watched Crinkley Hall last night - still worried the dog!!! on the verge of reporting them!!! thought it was slightly silly, but watchable! clouded up here now but still dry. Millie exhausted with her hair do but looking much tidier

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Nov 2012 12:32

WE've had a little SUN!!! and we still have a bit of blue sky....... :-D The bad news is it still keeps raining on and off.

Liz not silly at all. I still think my gt gran watches over me and I never even met het as she died before I was born. If I am looking for someone on my tree I ask her to help me and lo and behold I find things......weird or what?

67 shirts Frank. You must have HUGE wardrobes..... ;-)

Frank

Frank Report 26 Nov 2012 12:47

No Mel, It is a small cuboard put in when we extented the louge/dinner.Outside the bedroom door.It was a passage between to lounge and bedroom. It is about six foot wide and four foot deep. I put in two rails, one for shirts up higher, and one for trousers, suits. I also have a set of draws for my underwear, socks, hankies, scarves and gloves. My big outside coats are in the porch cuboard. Ros has a TRIPPLE WARDROBE in the bedroom.

I'm having a dance in the shirt cuboard at 3.00pm. if anyone would like to come. Just bring a bottle :-D :-D :-D You can swing a cat round in there now !!!!

We watched Crickley Hall last night (or Crinkley Bottom as Carmel says). Doesn't the little girl just melt your heart, she is just a little natural actress. Looking forward to next week to see what happens. Not much on the box again this week, but looking forward to Last Tango in Halifax - that will be our highlight.

Been in the garden this monring 'hedging and ditching', ie; cutting down dead ferns etc and putting them in the green bin. Very wet and damp, stuff just sliding through my gloved hands. I guess I'll pay for it later with arthritis & back ache. Still, no pain no gain - or a messy garden.

Been writing Christmas cards again this morning - will have to get an overdraft for the stamps this year :-(

C Y A L - enjoy the of rest of the day and try to stay D R Y

Frank in the Altogether.........swoon!!!! At least you know what you want for Christmas now Frank. :-D

I went into the city first thing for some things off the market and to get OH a Non League Football Directory. OH has had one every year since the year dot and I had a voucher for £5 off. Typical, Wat*rstones hadn't got one in yet and I had to clamber up stairs in there as well! :-| Then I called in the retail park up the road to get something from M*S......huge queues!! By then I needed a sit down so I rang OH up the road and he met me at Sains*burys nextdoor for a Christmas lunch. Then I went to Asda, also on the retail park and now I'm pooped!! :-S I stopped and took a few pics of the gipsy ponies next to the retail park.......they could have done with their waders on, but they had plenty of hay to eat.

Jane, it sounds like you have a busy day sorting out now........more men and more fans I expect!! Good that you had no more rain overnight as it poured down here. One road from the village is still closed but it has not rained yet today.
