What a shame Jane ,but at least you didn't have to clear the table and wash up (or load the dishwasher ) just a shame as you had been looking forward to it .
I often wonder why people don't close their curtains when it gets dark ,if we're out i usually have a little nosey in the windows !! :-D always make sure i close mine once it's dark . Lovely photo of Hannah ,has she seen any Northern Lights ??

Don't know Mandy.I will know doubt find out tomorrow night if they got to see the N Lights.I do hope they have. It echos here in the kitchen and utility. There is nothing left in the Utility.Chris keeps wanting to shift more stuff but I put my foot down and said we wait until the men arrive tomorrow and can tell us in what order they will actually be doing things.Chris is off this week :-S...I wish he was working really because he will do my head in (with all the upheavals).Luckily tomorrow the weather looks ok so he said he will spend the WHOLE day in the garden :-D :-D.I think I might just lock the back door and keep him out ;-) :-D......I'm not really that mean ;-) ;-).

They have gone home now, so I can relax and get my mind back to myself.
Ros is now watching Come Danceing before going over to XXXX factor.
She wouldn't let me in the kitchen this afternoon, I had to sit in the lounge, out of the way !!!
Lovely photo of Hannah, I bet she was cold looking the way she was wrapped up.
Three parts of my posting has dissapeared. I was rambling on about how hard I worked today, getting the meal and getting myself worked up.
Can't go through all that again. repeating myself.
One consolation was that Julia complimented me on the dinner. The roasts were the best she's ever tasted.!!! They all cleared their plates, so that says something.
Pitty about your meal Jane, Where did you go ???

Have I missed something, haven't seen any of Ann's masterpieces.
I don't use those plug in air fresheners after I read an article about them, apparently they can overheat and the plastic melts and can cause a fire.
Have been to daughter's this afternoon and had lots of cuddles with Chloe she is so sweet, have sent you all photos, daughter said she looks just like Harry did, so has definitely got daughter's Spanish gene.

Frank ...you are interrupting X F ;-) :-|......... We went to Wadenhoe House at Wadenhoe .Near Aldwinkle .....I'm sure you know where I mean. Shame the food wasn't up to scratch because it was a lovely place.I think they were maybe trying to cater for too many people.
I thought it was a good pic of Hannah. But did worry as I knew she didn't take a really warm coat or Jacket.Bet she has been chittering the whole time lol XF back now after adverts .

This is a lovely thread ,I think I'll pick a page to read every bedtime . I remember sitting on my fathers knee with both sisters and him making up stories .later 1 of us would have a friend over and the best story was "4 filthy faced fairies" he also read "the Hobbit " to us in chapters and i loved his Gollum voice .and his prickly beard .In the 70's it seemed compulsory for all dads to have beards (the beardie wierdies we call them looking back at old photos)

Mandy, Ann, thanks very much for finding that info. It makes sense now, a second marriage, no wonder I couldn't make sense of it.
I found one the other day where a widow remarried and the man she married died before the end of the quarter they were married in! And he wasn't any great age. Now I know where the Abba song Tragedy came from!!!

Not so sure about the second marriage for James Greenslade now. I think the James Greenslade that married Sarah Wells was the later (litho artist) James Greenslade's father. Found marriage for Sarah Wells to James Greenslade on GR, 1858 July quarter ast Ware - 3A - 210.
A bit more of the puzzle solved, I just have to find Sarah somewhere along the line.
But still my thanks, without the Sarah bit I wouldn't be moving forward now.

Morning/Evening All
Hello Alisoun.I think that is great picking a page of the thread for bedtime reading :-D There was nothing better than sitting on Dad's lap or tucking in beside him on the settee for a story. But even better was him sitting on the side of the bed to read to me and then being tucked in.All nice and snug. You might be right about Dad's growing beards in the 70's .Mine did :-D :-D
Well here I sit again waiting for workmen who I thought would be here at 9 o'clock :-S. I can't do anything until they are here as I don't know where they .......
they are here and have started :-D :-D I think the floor might be the first thing.(I hope so :-D)
Beautiful blue sky this morning but a bit on the chilly side.I think as Chris is here I will go and get a blind for the kitchen window.I have seen one that I think will look fine. But first I need to measure up.

Welcome to a new playmate, glad you like the thread. Please join in if you feel you would like to.
Sorry for interrutping X factor last night, mardy pants !!!! Why you want to sit t5hrough that I will never know !!!
It took me ages to get back to normal last night. NO COMMENT lol lol I had the shakes and couldn't settle at all. I had an early night, but was awake with cramp from 4.20 am onwards. It seems every time I got out and stood on the bathroom floor to get rid of it. As soon as I settle back into bed it returned. Gave up at 6.00 am and got up.
I had had my breakfast, shower and shaved before Madam shown her Lovely fac
Carolyn has called round, and would you ADAM AND EVE IT. They have gone to look around the shops.. Tell me something new. PLEASE. :-D :-D
Looks a great day out there. I went to get the bins in earlier and it felf a bit brass monkies out there.
Bit of cloud building in the west. Hope it's not coming from MELS way.
Just looked down by the side of the dinner table and theres a bottle of RED that Harvey bought up and didn't open. That will be a treat for me for the next couple of nights.
Those CAR air fresheners are BLOO#Y dangerous. We had one the fitted in the air vent. It leaked and BURNT the plastic on the dash board. Ros uses those little cardboard ones now that hang on the mirror.
You Younger girls werre very lucky to have a dad around to read you stories. I never had that pleasure, My Dad was away in the Navy I didn't really know him till 1947 when he gave up the Royal Navy. Then he went into the Merchant Navy, So didn't see a great deal of him then.. But I allways bathed and dried my two and read them stories and tucked them in with a big hug and kiss and "I LOVE YOU" whenever I was home in time for bedtime. Great memories, to be treasured.
Going to have a coffee and a read.
See you later.

Your couple next door have knocked out their Chimney breast. Her mum and dad are there throwing the bricks and rubble into the skip. The liite one "MILES" is tottering around with a dustpan trying to pick up rubble. But he can't reach upto the skip, and is getting in a right tiss. Bless !!!

Frank I can write my name on everything in the dust :-S.One chap called Mario is left.He is doing a stonking job with the floor tiles and is hoping to be able to put my cooker back before he goes.Mind you I'm not sure I fancy using that tonight as I'm sure some of the dust and debris will have found it's way inside. The blind I bought this morning is having to go back as it can't be cut down to the right size :-S
Hannah will be on the plane now.She emailed saying it was now pouring with rain. They have had a great time, but she says for her next holiday she wants some sun :-D She will ring me tomorrow evening and tell me all about the trip.
Frank your dinner sounds nice .I love a bit of Bubble and Squeak.

If I had plenty of money I would love to do two different holidays a year, one like Hannah's to see the Northern Lights and then a hot, sunny beach holiday, perfect.
Great that things are moving Jane, you will soon have a brand spanking new kitchen, just hold that thought while you're still in the dust and debris stage.
Liver and bacon for me tonight with gravy you could stick wallpaper up with :-D
Took me more than an hour to get back from daughters, that's the M25 for you, slow traffic all the way but it's the only way I know so I just have to sit in it, either that or get lost going the street way.

Mario has gone now.He reckons the tiles in kitchen and Utility will be finished tomorrow. Then it will be the back porch and loo.We can walk through the kitchen now but just have to stay off tiles that have spacer hings in.The oven hasn't gone back and is in the middle of the kitchen so tonight it is microvave Pork Strogonaff and rice, and micro veg.My lounge is going to stink lol as the microwave is on top of the fridge next to the tv.Chris will have his in the study on his desk and James and me will be eating off laps.
Oh Maureen the M25 is always a nightmare :-S.I would be like you though and stick to the route I know.
I now am not taking the blind back as the lovely Mario said he would have a go at cutting it down on Friday when everything is done.I decide just to go a plain cheapish one as we are planning on having the windows replaced next year,so will have something different then.
Poor old Chester obviously feels a bit uncertain on the tiles.I just caught him tiptoeing around the edge which isn't done yet lol.Half my stable door is off too and all is so echoee (how on earth do you spell that lol)

Poor Jane in all that mess! :-( :-( You should have got Chris to pin a dust sheet or old sheet over the lounge door to save some of the dust going in there. My dad always did that when decorating.
We have had a really super bright and sunny day here today so it was'nt me who sent the clouds over Franks way.
Did my shopping and I still hav'nt got used to the way they have layed out the shop. I keep having to go back for things and it is taking me much longer to do the shop now.
Maureen I do like your hair colour in the latest pics you sent. :-D :-D :-D
