Jane Report 19 Oct 2012 21:09

Mel .just had something called Pulled Pork with a Bourbon drizzle, new potatoes, baby carrots and Asparagus.( the pork obviously not my own creation) courtesy of Waitr**** :-D,but I did my own spuds and veg :-D :-D
Yes this little book is coming up with some very interesting Autographs .I still have some more names to look up.

Up in the morning for my last visit to Joan with her tablets and then a visit from the Plumber to sort that radiator and re route the pipes .I think he has to drain the whole system :-S :-S,so a bit of disruption tomorrow.Hey Ho!

Watched hedgy out in the garden at just after nine. I had put out a saucer of cat food and he worked his way round and then went to the saucer and stayed there for quite a while till he had finished it all. Tried to take some picks but don't think I have a good enough one as I can't make him stay still long enough for the camera to take the picture. I did'nt try with the flash as I don't want to frighten him away for good.

Morning/Evening All

I'm waiting for the Plumber,Chris is just taking Chester over the back field.I will pop back to Joan later as she is all in a bother about the instructions for her new cooker :-(

It is a fairly dull and dreary morning here.I doubt I will be hanging washing out at the moment.I'll wait and see if it warms up later.
The big decision of the day is What to have for Dinner tonight.I just can't think.

Mel I haven't seen a Hedgehog here for many many years.

Morning All and Evening Kim,

Nice bright and sunny morning here.

I saw hedgy yesterday night. He ate a saucer full of cat meat and was still out in the garden snuffling around at 12.14am.

Morning JUST.

Mel, We are very lucky, we have hedgehogs in the garden quite often. Little calling cards all over the paths and lawns. I have to smile I think they SH## themselves when they go down the steps from the patio to the back lawn. The steps always has poo on them !!!

Ros was a bit sore this morning, but slept through the night. Jane I am not allowed to touch :-D :-D :-D :-( :-( :-( She said when she streaches her arm, it pulls a bit on the stitches. Thats to be expected. I suppose.

That Pork thing seemed a bit different Jane. Did you enjoy it ??
Has the plumber been yet, and is YOUR system drained yet ???? Ming how you go.

Shirl, Would I say anything about a poor old soul like you <3 <3 <3

Sun has finally come through. First thing is was so damp and misserable, I didn't think we would see the yellow thing. Could turn into a nice afternoon.

Ros is out with Martine as usual, I hope she dosen't buy anymore presents, for friends and neighbours, we have no place for them so be stored.

Did I mention yesterday, we bought two very large chrysanthemums, They are in full bloom and about 3 foot across. The were reduced for £15.50 to £3.00. They now sit eachside of the from door. I don't know how long they will last, but look good for a while. We also bought 4 packs od DARK PINk Wallfrowers plants. I will go round and plant those tomorrow morning. I have allready planted 1,000 seeds for DARK PINK wallflowers. They are coming along fine in the trays on the conservatory table. They will have to be transpanted when they are big enough to handle. So next year I will be sending Ros out to sell them :-D :-D :-D :-D Or open a stall out front. !!!

Off down the pub at 12.30 Spurs V Chelsea. Shoiuld be a good London Derby. I bet Lewis will be glued to the T.V. to see his Chelsea.

Be back later.

Jane

Jane Report 20 Oct 2012 15:25

Frank ,that is good Ros managed a full night sleep. The stitches will probably stop pulling when any swelling has gone down.

The Plumber has been and gone and re routed the Radiator Pipes.Hopefully he had bled all the air out of the system. There was a lot of hissing and gurgling noises.

That Pulled Pork was delicious last night. It was for 2/3 persons but I thought 3 would have been stretching it a bit.

Tonight we are having Lamb Shanks.I think I have only had them once before.

I don't know where today has gone.I just realised it is 3.30 :-0

Annx Report 20 Oct 2012 16:05

Afternoon Everyone,

Thanks for the pics Mel. I bet Hedgy will keep coming back for his supper till he is ready for the BIG sleep. The bowl your OH has turned is a real credit to him and I doubt my EX could have done better even though it was his trade and he made us lots of things. A nice pic of your Daisies with the butterfly too.......mine are nearly finished now!!

Frank, I hope Ros's soreness soon goes. Going out spending will take her mind off it! lol :-D My word you will have a lot of wallflowers and such a fragrant garden too.......one of my favourite scents....wallflowers.

Mandy, Jake looks fantastic in his outfit.........you made a lovely job of his 'pully'. How about a home made catapult dangling from his pocket.......I'm sure little boys like FRANK would have had one!!! ;-) lol. You could use string instead of the elastic (H&S ;-) ) I had to chuckle at your OH leaving KEYS in the lock as well.......!!!

Liz, that is very interesting you do that. I think we would all like to have more 'flesh on the bones' doing our own FH and finding out about the times they lived in is one way to do that. I often google to find out what clothes they wore in those times and look at old maps of the places they lived.

I have seen those zip bags advertised for washing stockings or tights as well. I haven't worn those wired bras for many years now. Too often the wires would poke a hole and start 'emerging' all on their own!! Not a good 'look' at work!! :-0 I have even made holes to get them out before it happens with some bras. If you were 'well blessed' they would poke under your arms too as they weren't made to curve around your sides at all, just to sit at the front!!! :-)Men are so lucky not having these problems, although OH assures me that not all pants are a great fit!!

We saw MIL yesterday and she'd had a call from the hospital to say they'd made an appointment for her to see her doc as the anaesthetist wasn't happy with her swollen ankles. Luckily she'd already seen her doc the day before and he'd put her on some different tablets to help with that and her blood pressure. She seemed most cross that her operation might be put back as if they had no reason for it and gave the impression she thought she could insist they do it!! Even though you explain they could be sued if they do not stick within the risks guidlines and that it is for her benefit, you can just tell she has the mindset that she is right.

Hopefully you will stay dry now then Jane!! I don't often have them, but I do like lamb shank.......take a long time to cook, but the meat just falls away and is nice and tender.

Afternoon everyone,

Been a nice dry day with a little sunshine at times , we went out to lunch with son and family and DIL's parents ,sister and brother , quite a crowd of us we did manage to get a large table so we could all sit together ,so no cooking tonight !!

Jake had a lovely time yesterday , he went on a coach so far and then on the train to the coast , his lunch was Jam and Carrot sandwiches !! :-D i asked what they were like and he said he liked them!!
They were all given a Gas Mask box ,so we needn't have made one !!
He had to sweep a room out and clean boots !!

Mel , i think i could just make out Hedgy , he'll keep coming if the food is there .
What a good job OH has made of the bowl!! if it was mine i would want to keep touching it to feel the smoothness of it , is it one to keep or one to sell?

Glad Ros had a good night and is not to sore Frank, the chrysanthemums were a good buy , have you planted them or left them in the pots ?

Ann, i never thought about giving Jake a catapult , although i don't think it would have gone down to well with the teachers :-S :-D :-D
How did you get on with the bracelet yesterday ?

We have been looking at wood burners on here this afternoon , we think we might have one , not sure when !! it depends when hubby has time to put one in !!
Not looking forward to the mess though ,it means knocking out the fire place we have now and rebricking another . :-S

Jane Report 20 Oct 2012 17:12

Ann these Lamb Shanks are a new thing from Tes**.They are already cooked with a selection of veg and just need heating for about 55 minutes or so :-D.They do look a bit scrummy.

Once again I can't open Mels pic :-S :-S

Yes lets hope no more leaks.I keep trying to imagine the kitchen all finished.I need to decide what to have at the window. Not sure whether to have curtain or vertical blinds.I think maybe the blinds. It gets so bright in there when the sun is glaring that sometimes I can't see the dials or timer on the cooker.

Chris has managed to scrape all the grease and filth off the tops of the units with the help of a scraper.(that is how disgusting it was. When the decorating is done I will line the tops with kitchen paper.

What a lovely day it turned out to be.Chris managed to give the lawn a cut even though it is quite wet.

LOL your MIL sounds a tough one Ann.No matter what you say won't make the slightest difference to what she thinks.

I have taken wires out of Bra's too.I remember one creeping out and it came out the top of my top,so I discretely pulled it all the way out and stuck it in my bag :-S.
I have finally found some lovely comfy wireless ones from M&* and they are still quite pretty(not that anyone sees them) these days.

Frank did you enjoy the footie and a couple of pints? I think you were talking about Bishops Finger the other day.I just spotted one here called Bishops Farewell. It must be a local one as it is from Oakham Ales.

ANN I am Going to PM you

Jane Report 20 Oct 2012 18:19

Wow what a beautiful sky we have tonight. :-DI think it might be foggy though in the morning.I am going to have a lie in as I don't have to take pills to Joan, and Chris will walk Chester.
I bumped into a lady in Tes** today. She had a little terrier that was a nasty bit of work and went for Chester a few years ago.In fact no-one in the village liked it and always tried to keep their dogs away from it.She told me that she had to have it put to sleep the other week as it had some kind of blockage.I did feel sorry for her ,but at the same time felt such relief we won't come across it again. :-D
She has one Chicken too that she is looking for a home for.It is a beauty, some big French Chuck. She did have 3 but 2 have died.

I think I'm going to turn the heating up a little,I feel a bit chilly.Mind you seeing what I'm wearing it would be more sensible to put something warmer on :-D

Got trouble with my wretched teeth AGAIN!!! A 'mend' that I had a year ago has come loose, and I think that this time I shall have to have a crown! As you would say Frank, more expense!! Will ring the dentist on Monday, get an appointment and see what he says! I'm beginning to get a bit worried on the tooth front, as they are becoming distinctly wobbly! I have to see the hygenist every three months, and it's becoming a bit of a battle trying to keep them in place!!! I'm afraid it's going to a plate before long! Apart from that a good day, sun came out later so we spent the afternoon putting the garden to bed for the winter - Millie helped, Merlin just watched!

Jane

Jane Report 20 Oct 2012 19:16

Yikes Liz.Have you got receding gums that make your teeth wobbly?.Mine are firmly in place (thank goodness) but I have had a nagging achy thing going on .It comes and goes but is a bit of a worry.I don't want all that awful treatment that I had last year.
It is time for me to make an appointment anyway so I suppose I had better do that next week.Hannah is coming home on Thursday as she has a Dentist appointment on Friday morning. She also has an evening wedding do to go to on Saturday in Leicester. So that is my car gone again :-S
She is off to Iceland on the first of November with John.It is his 30th .They should get to see the Northern Lights :-D.Lucky things.

These Lamb Shanks are cooked and smell mouthwatering.I'm just waiting for the New Potatoes and then dinner will be served(with my new cutlery :-D)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Oct 2012 20:02

We had lamb shanks on Monday as I buy the frozen ones in Ma**ison and they only take 12 mins each in the micro.

Good that little dog has had his last day then Jane and you will be able to walk Chester in piece now.

Liz I must also make an appointment with a dentist as I too have recedeing gums and three wobbly ones. One is nearly out and I was hoping it would fall out before going as I won't get charged for it then!!

LilyL

LilyL Report 20 Oct 2012 20:25

Yes, that's exactly what I've got Jane! I've had receding gums for years, but now Anno Domini is taking it's toll! Not wanting to tell you what to do Mel, but I really would see a Dentist and get him/her to check your teeth, you can't just let them fall out!!! Just been watching Ian Hislop,(recorded) Stiff Upper Lip - this week including WW1 - what a dreadful, dreadful war that was, young men just mown down on all sides - such a waste of life. Now, time for Dad's Army - could do with something to make me laugh!

Frank Report 20 Oct 2012 22:03

Evening all,

Busy littlre bees aren't you???

Glad your water problem is getting sorted Jane. The refurbisment isn't going to take that long, is it ??

It seemed that when I had my stroke, that's when my teeth started to play up. I could pull a lot myself, but others needed the Dentists intervention. I pulled another a few weeks ago. Now I have a gap in my top plate. Only got five left. So I can see me having those out and new platres (MORE EXPENCE)

Yes Ann, we all had catapults when we were young. We would pick a branch with a perfect V and clean of the bark. cut the slots for the 1/4 inch square rubber, that we got from the hardware shop. Then bind the rubber onto the "V" with twine.. A touynge our of the shoe for a pouch, and away we went. We could knock an apple off a tree at this time of year. But often the apple was smashed by the stone. !!!

Ros had her Chinese tonight. and for a change I had a pizza. Wouldn't want one to often, but filled a hole.

Good match at lunchtime, and enjoyed my beers. Came home had a roll and Pate. then lain on the bed and listened to the afternoon football on Five live. I might have dropped off as well !!!!

X factor just about finished, so will go and watch a bit of Tele.
