Hi everyone, sorry I didn't put in an appearance on here over the weekend. Yesterday was so nice we took a drive as far as Rugby and were surprised by the number of shops that were open. That means we didn't come back empty handed, more ' empty pocketed'! Carmel managed to get a King size valance sheet from A*da at the right price, so she is well chuffed. They've been about twice the price everywhere else.
She has been for her pain injections in her back this afternoon so is now laying down on the sofa watching her soaps. I had to drop her off at the day unit at 2pm and when they called her in I asked the nurse how long she would be. She said about an hour, and I thought, yes, and the rest It took four hours last time. Anyway, when 5.55 came round & I'd heard nothing, I rang up to find out what was going on. They said I could go and collect her straight away. Apparently they tried some sort of mid treatment injection and the doctor said, would you like to come back tomorrow and I'll do the other injection? No way, she said, get me a drink and carry on. So, she is very sore (for a day or two) but at least it's all over and done with.
We watched Strictly Saturday and last night. How the guy that jived worse than a Dad at a wedding stayed in I'll never know. And did you notice that Victoria Pendleton looked a lot like Morgana from Merlin? Give her an Irish accent and she could take on the role. Carmel keeps saying she's not going to watch it again, and she still does. Me, I love the music, but don't ask me to look at Richard Arnold's shirt again - I'm sure if he took it to a charity shop, they'd throw him AND the shirt out!
I know we like going back to the past on here and I often think of thinks my Dad used to say, things I'd almost forgotten. If you were getting on his nerves, he'd say "You give me the pip" - where on earth does that come from? Anyone else any things your parents used to say?

Evening All,
Bangs going on here too Jane, for several nights now :-S Shame about James's job, but as OH often says as 1 door closes, another often opens, so he must stay upbeat if he can and see what jobs he can find. What's up with Chester?
Well, apart from a small shower it's been dry all day here. :-D I've felt like that lately too David, apart from good sleep, I even popped a few vitamin tablets lately to see if that helps. I think we may get attacked with lots of bugs this time of year......maybe our bodies are tired fighting them off!! :-) I took myself off to Tamworth to Hob*ycraft today, an hour or so in there is a good pick me up. I got a nice copper leaf shaped pendant you can sew beads onto so will enjoy doing that. Some new beading needles with big eyes too so I can see to thread them. I have some artificial berry branches in a chinese vase in the lounge that are old, a bit dusty and rather 'tired' looking. I've been looking for replacements for a while and got some lovely ones at the same shop with bigger berries and cheaper than others I've seen, so I was chuffed with that!
Nice to see you posting Kim........hope the exams are going well.....for your sake!! lol. What a mix of weather you've been having.
SHIRL I HOPE YOUR EYE HAS SETTLED DOWN AFTER THE INJECTION........HOW MANY MORE?
Maureen, you should be able to pack a bit more in your case now you have 'smaller' sizes. ;-) I always pack far too much......OH groans when he picks my case up........don't know how I'd cope with baggage allowance!! Hope you have a lovely time and manage to take a few pics. Is all going well with letting the house you did up?
Mel, do you get a fasting blood test every year? I will get my last one next month as part of that research project. Are you pleased with your roof panels overall? I see fuel prices are due another hike soon........must be nice to know it won't affect you so much.
Pat I thought about you and Mocha the other day while I was watching a dog programme. You probably know this so sorry if you do, but it suggested trimming a bit of the hair away on the underside of spaniel ears to help reduce the risk of infections. How are your fish doing? Have the tank problems settled down now? I was looking whistfully at some Cardinal Tetras in a tank again today. lol.

Carmel is a plucky to get it all over with at once William, but I don't blame her. The soaps will help with any soreness I'm sure. It is good when you find a bargain isn't it. I am always scuffing the valance sheet with the hoover and leaving black marks on it.
Richard Arnold's jive did look a bit manic and weird didn't it..........I did find it quite amusing though! Victoria Pendleton looks like she is going to burst into tears all the time. I'm liking Lisa Riley though, so full of energy and always smiling.
I remember my dad saying that too. If you did something silly you were a 'clot' or 'daft as a brush'' or 'soft in the head'. I think I got called all those!! When he told me my head was 'full of sawdust' I left him speechless once up by saying it was 'from the tree of knowledge' though! I could be very quick with replies at times......so got told 'less of your cheek' very often too. ;-)

Ann .I really don't know what was up with Chester today ...but he is snoring his head off now.I wish animals could talk and be able to tell you what is wrong.I ended up giving him a Piriton Tablet to see if that calmed him down.....It has :-D :-D Must go now to dish up.

If you didn't hear anything said to you .You had Cotton Wool between your ears :-D :-D All fed and watered here. I just rang Janice, and Michel is staying with her with Baby William for a few days.He is too scared at the moment to have William on his own.Janice said she has taught Michel how to do the top and tail bath tonight and also how to get organised like having enough bottles sterilized for his feeds and having nappies at the ready with all the wipes and cream etc.Luckily William has his last feed at about 11 and will then sleep all night until about 7.30am.So he is a very good baby :-D :-D

Dad would say you were 'getting on his 'wick' and mum would say 'your dad's got his hair off about something' if he was in a mood.
Jane it must be an awful shock for Janice's son to have this big responsibility now. The sooner he learns the easier it will become though. I remember bathing my sister when I was aged 9 and would often change her nappies, just to stop her screaming as she screamed at everything!! She'd be fed, changed and winded, but as soon as you put her down she'd start. Mum always seemed to be pouring Gr*pe Water into a teaspoon!! lol I'd get sent out with her in her pram and had to keep it moving or she'd be off again if she hadn't gone to sleep. The shaped white pram handle on her big pram nearly reached up to my chin so it was quite hard getting it up onto the pavement at corners. No wonder she had such a paddy when she was older!!! At least little William sounds like a good baby which will help a lot!

Evening all,
Will, It's nice you were able to have a ride out, and get a bargain as well. Ros wanted a new Egyptian 400t/c King size sheet. I bought one on eBay. The horrible little seller, has sold the same thing FOUR times and not delivered ONE of them. It's all in eBays hands now. Jane, sorry about James job. The poor little bugg## dosen't have a lot of luck does he ?? They do say it's easier to find a job when you are in work. So good luck to him.
I have been the Bead/findings/wire buyer today Eleven items for her MAJ. I must say, things on these jewellery sites are very reasonable in price.
She off tomorrow at 9.00 am to the "bramble Patch" it's a patchwork sewing place, where they make quilts for little babies in hospital,,who mothers who don't have much. They are talking about doing the same in the village but for the "WAR HEROS"
Janice is going to have her hands full, teaching Michael the tricks of "Father Hood" I know when we had Lewis as a small baby all week every week, while Harvey and Julia were working. I had to get used to feeding/changing/burping etc. It had been so many years !!!
Ros has to go to the doctors on Friday to have a bit taken off her breast. They will then do tests, but from what the Dr said, there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
Last Saturday night we had fireworks going off till well after midnight. The young neighbours rang the Police, They had 8 complaints, but were unable to locate where they were being let off. Some people don't consider small babies trying to sleep and the poor pets that get so frightened.
Dad use to say "you're as thick as two short planks" and" I don't know who's child you must be."" I'll give you a flea in your ear." When Mum was angry she would say " I dread the day God put breath in your body" And by god, she ment it. We all lived in fear when she went off on one. HAPPY DAYS

Dinen't see you there Ann.
Talking of taking children out for a walk. My brother who was seven when we twins were born, had the job of taking us out of MUMS way for an hour. She also had twins under four to contend with. He took us out one day, ran down the road and caught the wheels on a garden wall, and shot us out of the pram into someones garden. When he took us home, Mum couldn't undestand why we wouldn't stop crying. !!!!

Ann, I loved your response, head of sawdust - from the tree of knowledge. Priceless. You've all come up with ones that I heard too, Another thing my Dad would say, if I hadn't heard him was "Have you got cloth ears?". I try some out on Carmel, with her childhood being in Dublin and a lot she says her Dad said too. So sayings and slang must be universal. I notice in some of the American films, they come up with sayings that are very English orientated. I guess they went over there with the early settlers - and stayed in the language.
Just been watching Monroe, just what Carmel wanted after her afternoon in the theatre! At least they (Monroe's place & the Geoghe Eliot hospital) weren't all walking around with their arms folded, like they do in Holby!!
Anyway, bedtime approaches. I'll just say 'night 'night all. Sleep tight.

Morning/Evening All
A lovely sunny breezy morning here.I have hung the birds coconut out again and am enjoying watching my little visitors.
I am waiting this morning for the man from Rainbow, the company who supplied all the drying gear.I have everything crossed that we will finally be signed off as dry.Mind you I hoped that last time didn't I :-| :-|
I think Fitz must be home as I had a couple of emails.I will probably hear from him later.
Now I have the horrible job of cleaning the inside of my cooker(it's disgusting).I will do the spray now and leave it to do it's job. Then a bit of elbow grease will be needed.
Joan was cleaning her hob with Ajax just now.I asked why she was cleaning it.It is because it is being removed on Friday :-D :-D.I did say it will only go for scrap. She said "I know dear, but I can't let it go dirty " lolol

Morning All and evening Kim,
Did'nt get back to you lot yesterday as I was so tired when I got home from shopping. On the way to Bideford there was lots of water running down the sides of the roads in many places. They must have had quite a downpour.
Bright morning here at the mo. Saw hedgy at 1am this morning when I turned the outside light on to see if it had eaten the food I put out for it. I must have surprised it as it ran from somewhere near oh's pond across the grass and down the sid eof my pond on the paving slabs and around the corner into the dark. No cat food on the drain cover where I left it and lots of snuffle holes int he grass around there so I think it must have been him that had it.
I have heard all those saying from my parents and grand parents but I think that Ann's answer was the best ever! I shall have to remember that one in case I need it.
Did'nt get up till late today but had to get up twice in the night. Thats the trouble once I go back to sleep I sleep for ages.
Shirl how many injections have you had now?? poor girl. I do feel for you. Hope you have to have many more. Was it a bad bleed on the back of your eye?
Poor James he must be cross at being put off. He was so pleased to get the job in the first place and now being put off must be very deflating for him. I hope he finds somewhere quickly but it may be hard just before Christmas.
Maureen hope you have a good time on holiday and Pat too. A nice change of scenery can do wonders when the weather has been so bad over here.

Morning all/Evening Kim.
Typical of the older generation Jane, Always liked to be seen beyond reproach in the cleaniness, even it it was going for scrap. <3 <3 <3 I know years ago Mum would wash old cloths before putting them in the Collection bag that hung on the garden fence. They would then go off to cloth the Russians etc. who had nothing after the war. I am sure it wouldn't have made any difference to the receiver :-) :-) :-)
I did my cooker last week. It took a bit of work, but it looks great when you open the door to the oven, all shi# and briney(BRIGHT AND SHINEY) :-D :-D
Very strong winds here today, The cherry tree is shedding leaves like mad. Just hope most get blown over the fences, be less for me to pick up.
Ros went off at 9.00 am be back 4 ish. Sheppards Pie tonight with fresh cabbage. nice and easy. Or we could have F & C as it's the van tonight !!! See what the Governor says when she gets home. Sheppards pie all made and in the freezer, so won't take long to do Spuds and cabbage.
Laid listning to the radio last night in bed. Chuck Berry "On blueberry hill" Bought back some memories, of my courting days. !!!! Still stuck with "Mother Kelly's Doorstep" How strange how a song haunts you.
Old arthritis is playing up this morning. both my thumb joints are swollen and aching. The veins are stiching up, and throbbing like mad. Left shoulder painful also. I thought I had laid with my arm out of bed, bent under the pillow, but I might be wrong.
Coffee time I think. see you later.

My suitcase is absolutely bulging Frank otherwise I could have tried to squeeze you in there ;-)
Yes that is a shame for James, he might be able to get some temporary Christmas work as he will be free before all the colleges and uni's finish and then look around for something permanent after Christmas.
Tenerife is a volcanic island, think Lanzarote is too, they're not that far from each other. Four hours is quite a long time Pat and unlike the long haul flights there's no films etc. and not even serving food which is a distraction. I've got my kndle loaded, must remember to charge it tomorrow and a book of crosswords although if I'm sitting anywhere near Finley I don't suppose I shall look at either.
In case I don't get on here tomorrow .......Happy Birthday for Sunday David.

Hi everyone.
Been blowing a gale here too. A line of washing out this morning and when I took it in this afternoon, I got lashed to death by the sheets and the washing was only just barely dry! I've been in to Nuneaton this morning and almost got blown clear across the bus station. I heard the radio travel this morning and it said a tanker had overturned somewhere, I thought 'how does a tanker overturn' - now I know how...
Poor Carmel has been resting while I was out and her back is still painful. She asked me to remove the dressing from her lower back last night and where I usually see four needle marks, there were nineteen! And that without a local too. No wonder I'm being ultra caring for her now. Lots of TLC are on the menu here.
Back to Dads saying, I made a note of some more last night, so here goes. Hurry up = get your skates on. Annoyed = narked. Shut the door = put the wood in the hole. If I annoyed him - I'll give you a flea in your ear. Fed up = got the hump.
Holby is on again tonight. Must keep count of all the arm folding and who's doing it. It seems to be an epidemic so I'll see who's caught it in this epsiode. Heaven forbid if strikes Mr Kool - Henrick Hansenn!
Talking TV, has anyone watched the BBC2 series about the REAL Servants? I missed the first two but saw last weeks. What a hard life they had and hard to imagine that when they were all in the same boat, you still had a heirarchy. I think I'll be on IPlayer any moment now.
Bangers, fried potatoes and egg here tonight, with a few mushrooms added for me. Hardly the Big Bake Off! But hey, we gotta eat!!!

Thats great news Jane. Now the mess will start. Poor old Chester will think it stange having all theses different men in the house, or is he use it. :-D :-D :-D :-D Did you hear from Fitz today, did he enjoy his break ????
Mandy, A few weeks ago Ros decided she wanted a new shower head, to go with the new hose that was leaking. It's one of those BIG round ones. Yhe water pressure is hardly stong enough, for the size of it :-) :-) :-)
I haven't been out today, that wing was enough to blow your head off. But the sun is beaming through the back windows now, and it's quite warm.
Ros has just got back, they have been busy all day. Glad to get home and have a rest.
We have decided it will be F & C tonight. I will do the other tomorrow.

Oh William Carmel's back must be so sore with all those needle holes, like a pin cushion poor thing , i'am sure she appreciates all you do for her <3 Those Bangers and fried potatoes sound just the ticket .
Frank , that's the trouble with a big one , they don't always work as you would like them too!!

I must say it is so quiet here now :-D :-D.It seems strange.Do you realise we had the driers in on August 14th !!!!!!!!.It is weird having no obstacles in the middle of the kitchen.I wonder what job will be tackled first?
I have a Paella cooking nicely on the top of the hob.The smell is making my face sweat. It's the Chorizo and garlic and onion that does it :-S.I looks so colourful I don't put any fishy things in .Chicken ,Smoked ham ,and Chorizo.
I hope Carmel's back is soon less painful William .And also Ros's boob Frank. Was it just a little sample they took today? You are both very caring Hubbies :-D
I did see Fitz.He scared the living daylights out of me by suddenly knocking on the Kitchen window. It was great to see him.I do miss him when he is not around. He had a lovely break ,but just wishes that the weather had been been better. He has the results of his big scan on Friday and is getting jittery :-S.Also straight after his appointment he goes to a meeting about his Mother and her future care plan.(he is definitely not looking forward to that one)
So you are all ready then Maureen.I hope the wind dies down before your flight.Mind you if you have a tail wind you will get there in no time :-D :-D
"I'll put you over my knee" ,was something Dad said if I was misbehaving. And I do remember a few times when I WAS put over his knee and ended up with a sore backside :-S :-S :-S......Tan your Hide (sp) was another. Just off to stir the Paella>>>>>
