Hello everyone,
I sent through some emails earlier, but they have all bounced back. Did anyone receive them? :(
Another sunny day here, but we are in for rain and storms from tomorrow.
OH went out today and bought tap sets for our two bathrooms. The EXPENSE!! The ones we had were cheap and nasty looking, so time for a change. These are chrome and if he manages to do a bit of DIY plumbing, they will look very nice.
Nothing much to report here, so enjoy your afternoon.
Oh we were posting about teachers. My Grade 3 nun always called me a "stupid little article" in a thick Irish accent with her teeth bared like a Pitbull. She was one wicked woman. I was a quiet little thing at school. The cheek of it. ;D
Cheers for now - 9.40 pm AEST

I got them all thanks Kim.Some good ones there lol I never let Chris go anywhere near any type of plumbing job.It always ends in a disaster :-S :-S.
Frank shame Ros didn't make more money yesterday.Maybe next time she will have better luck. I have been and come back from Asd*.My goodness it was so noisy there.Everyone and their Mother must have been there plus hoards of screaming children.I was glad to get out.Mind you I now have the rumble of the dehumidifers and fans going.I am actually getting quite used to them now. They just get in the way more than anything .
I don't think we will see any sun today,it is just very dull. I am cooking Lamb Henrys for dinner. Not sure why they are called that.It is rolled bits of deboned lamb with a mint Marinade.I don't think Chris looked too impressed when I got them out of the freezer :-SProbably because there is a bit of fat on top of them.I told him not to be so dam* fussy ,the fat will come off and there is no other choice :-D Like it or lump it as I used to be told
I had a teacher once called Mr Ellison in primary school. He humiliated me once by marking a cross in chalk on the floor and making me stand on it.I was having some problem with maths. From that day on I have always been pants at maths and I totally blame him for that.It always made me feel that I just couldn't do any kind of mathematics.I still count on my fingers :-( :-(....Long divisions and multiplications are a real no no .(It has just taken me ages to spell multiplications) :-S
Spot of lunch I think now.

Jane, I totally agree that some teachers (in the past anyway) didn't think what their cruel actions were the start of. We had a horrble woodwork teacher. On my second lesson with him, I couldn't find my work in the stock room from my previous lesson. In all innocence, I went and told him. He slapped me so hard across the head, I heard bells ringing! He just told me to go and find it. What did I do? I went and found another boys work, sandpapered his name off it and wrote my own on it instead. That man had taught an otherwise honest child to become a cheat and a thief. However, I add that that was a one off with me. I never forgot that awful man and I never let him get one across me again. On the other hand, I've always been passable at woodwork, but that was mainly because my Dad was a keen DIY man, and taught me a lot without bullying me.

I have always advocated 'carrot' rather than 'stick'. Everyone works better and harder with a nice incentive. I hated school, couldn't wait to leave, I remember on an English paper you had to list hobbies, I wrote BOYS, the teacher's remark: boys are not a hobby ...... my reply ....... they are for me :-D.
Spent most of yesterday sitting in the garden in the sun, don't suppose we will get many more opportunities. Have been getting to know my Kindle. No wonder some of those downloads are free, I am on my third one which isn't too bad but the first two were absolute cr*p.
Frank, I've been looking and looking at your Vauxhall photo, but still can't work out which is you.

MAUREEN. THE GOOD LOOKING ONE :-D :-D :-D I am 2nd from the right on the bottom row.
I will say about some of my teachers. Remember I was the third son to go to that school. The teachers haden't long come home from the war. and treated us kids like the enemy. Belts around the head was common place, Blackboard rubbers thrown with great force. God help anyone who got hit by them. I was caught going behind the Bike Shed. which was out of bounds. Up before the headmaster, who took delight in caning the boys. TWO on each HAND and four across the bum. I couldn't hold a pen and found it difficult to sit down.. I didn't meet one teatcher I* could trust, and the happies day of my school years was 22nd December 1953. When I left school.
Not been very nice here today, but the sun is trying to push through now.

Mel.The fact she is on no census .Could she have come from Ireland? I'm grasping at straws now lol.
William ,some teachers are still cruel.I remember my daughter telling me of her Drama teacher taking the mickey out of one of her classmates. The boy was gay and the teacher spoke in a camp way to him.Hannah stood up (how brave) and said to the teacher how dare he talk to Tim in that way.The whole class applauded :-D :-D.
Maureen I think that would have been my answer too ;-) ;-).I didn't like school and was not interested in anything much really other than boys.I'm still not sure how I ended up marrying a Doctor!!!!!!.

LOL Trust my Mother to have a flipping mystery in the family. I just think if Lottie was born in 1891 she should be on the 1901 and 1911 census unless she was living outside of England. Must go and get Chester in .He is stood in the middle of the lawn looking half baked lol.I think he looses the plot every now and then

X facto# on, So I will pass an hour on here.
Yes Jane IOW is on the Hampshire county border. I can't think that f she was born in 1891, she wouldn't have gone abroard that young, but some did !!!
So brave of Hannah to voice herself like that. If you had done that in my day, they would have knocked three colours out of you.
Did you see that old VASE that made £280,000.00. You never know what's in the stuff left by our parents/grand parents. Ros has Two teachests of her Mothers/grandmothers stuff in the garage. I must get it out and have a sort through.
:-D :-D :-D :-D You never know your luck.
I must start to look back at my and Ros's family. Mind you I am back to the 1700s so might find it difficult. Where are you back to Mel/Mandy.???
Had dinner about 5.30 pm very nice it was too. Ros has been busy all afternoon on the Church Wedding Kneeller. She has been lumbered with doing all the boarder. It's about 6foot long and 2' 6" wide. On the frame it takes up the lounge chair and coffee table. Be glad when it goes back. :-| :-| :-|
Going on Ebay for a while.
See you tomorrow.

Too right David :-D Morning/Evening All. Another lovely morning sunshine and just a little freshness in the air.Perfect for me :-D More beans picked just now so I will make up another pan of that nice dish with toms ,onion and garlic and freeze a couple of containers full.I have never tried freezing it before but Fitz says his OH does so it must be ok.
I fell asleep during Downton last night but I think James pressed the record button so I may watch the rest of it later .Chris has very kindly left me a huge pile of jumpers to be washed :-S He doesn't trust me with the tumble drier and jumpers so it good that it is a perfect day for them to go on the line :-D I think they are ready to go out now so will BBL

Morning All and Evening Kim,
Well I have put Lottie on the Find Ancestors board but nothing has come up yet as to where she is on the 1901 and 1911 census. The one thing that keeps bugging me is that we are going by her death cert as to which year she was born. That is only as good as the person who registered the death knows. She may have been born a few years before??? who knows.
You really need to buy that marriage cert Jane and the sooner the better.
Another thing is that Lottie may have been married before and not told Alfred?????
Anyway it is not raining here and we have had a bit of sunshine and it's shgopping day...................
:-( :-(
Must go up and water the tunnel as I have'nt been up there for two days!!!!!! There will be beans to pick too I am sure.
Jane could you give me the recipe for the bean dish please as it sounds like oh would love that.

Morning all,
Didn't get out yesterday, so going when Ros gets out of bathroom.
It's the first time ever that we have run out of eggs. With Ros not going shopping Sat. we are needing fresh veg etc.
I have offered to take her "SHOPPING" for cloths or whatever. The trouble with buying or giving presents before the birthday, you feel guilty if you don't get something for the day. The sewing machine and Buck house trip is history now.!!!
Bed all changed and washed, blowing on the line now. It will smell wonderful when it come in. As kids we would run under the sheets as mum and dad were folding them in the backroom. and sing "make the bed, make the bed, turn the bed right over" Don't suppose any of you remember that !!!
Real autumn morning here, damp from the dew, and bright sunshine. with a slight chill in the air. Just the sort of day for a walk down the canal. But I don't think my knee will allow it. It's still playing me up :-| :-| :-|
Must get too and dig some potato's and onions. The lawns need another cut also. No peace for the wicked!!!
Jane, Didn't you find as a child, when you werre told not to do this or that, you did it anyway. That was my trade mark. I was known by every teacher as trouble. I was always the one to stick up for myself, and as my Dad said." if you need to get an answer go the the man at the top of the tree" I have done that all through my life. and it's stood me in good stead.
Almost ready for the off, so will see you later.

Jane, you have got a good theme going with your 'teachers' post. I see the point Frank was making but I can offer a different angle. We had an ex-fRAF pilot join the school, Mr Guest and one of his subjects was music. I have to admit he made music more interesting than our other music teacher. There was also an ex Commando para, who could shout like a sergeant major on the school playground enough to make you quake in your boots. Then he became our form master and he was a really great teacher. Humour, encouragement, liked by all the class, while other classes thought we were going through hell. We also had an art teacher, Mr Morris, who was a consceincious objector during the war. However, he joined the Red Cross as a para medic going out to the front lines and won the French Croix de Guiire (don't know how to spell it!) I like to remember teachers name, sometimes they sem to fit the part. We had Mr Lamb for history, Mrs Pryor for Geography and music, Mr Woolams for art, Mrs Ironmonger for English (my favourite). The headmaster for the juniors was Mr Crummy and Mr Stone was the Seniors headmaster I must have done something right as I was made a class prefect for the last three years..

Frank ,believe it or not I wasn't really badly behaved.I was led astray by my best friend Anne Smith,or Smiffy :-D :-D.W were often split up in class and had to sit at other ends of the room from eachother. We almost got banned from using the school bus too :-S :-S.It makes me cringe now to think what I was like at times.
Mel if you do that Runner Bean dish .Make sure you don't put tough beans in.Some of the ones I used this morning are a bit stringy :-S I am being pestered to death here .I cooked some Ham earlier and Chester is mithering after it.Making the most ridiculous noises :-S
The wind is really picking up here.I have just had to shut the patio door now as my curtains were almost taking off :-0
