Loved the Parade too Frank. It was just so lovely to see all the Athletes enjoying the praise from all the crowds and chilling out after all their hard work .I don't think we will have another year like this for a very long time. Not just the Olympics ,but the Jubilee too.It will feel a bit flat now I think.
Yes Maureen I have Franks discs here If you would like them.
I love my Kindle ,but still love a proper book.I go between the two.
Mandy I think you would like one.So easy to use too.Best for reading in bed I find as it doesn't put the pressure on the thumbs (when holding a book open).
Off to dish up now :-D I'm blooming starving.

Just to let you all know, my replacement new desk top computer finally arrived safe and sound and in one piece today. Have yet to set it up so am still bashing away on the laptop. I wouldn't let the delivery driver go or sign his 'thingy' until I'd opened the package and made sure the machine was in one piece this time.
I believe Argos are going to give me a voucher for a good will gesture for all the problems I've had - big deal, I'd rather they had upgraded the computer!
I'll keep you posted and let you know the outcome, wonder if it will be enough to offset a new pair of specs at Sp*c
savers!

Evening all,

Jane the name we had was "FIVE STONES" We played it all the time. The bought ones were square stone with grooves down the side. But most of the time we used five stones, only the better off kids had the bought ones. The other thing we played to and from school was Marbles. We would make a hole in the ground with the heel of out boot, and knock the marbles towards the hole. If you went in off the other players marble you won the two marbles, no wonder we were always late for school and late home. Thanks for jogging the grey matter.

I know what you mean about Fitz's Mother. It must be hard for him seeing her slipping away, but there comes a time when it's the best thing, and not to see them suffer. Oh how I wish it had been like that for my Dad and Ros's Mum and Dad. I nursed them all before they died with Cancer. I was with all three till the end. My Mum just faded away. I went to see her on the Sunday, she looked tired out (87). I left her about 7.00 pm and my twin sister found her the next morning. MORBID OLD sod aren't I ???

Mel, it looks like the rain is spreading up from your way, and should arrive here by the morning (if they are right). The wind has certainly got up, I have put all the pots from the patio table on the floor, so they won't get blown over.

Mandy I was a avid book reader till I boughjt my Sony eBook, now I find it the easiest this in the world to handle, if you start a book and don't like it,you can just go onto another. The other benifit I find is that most books on it have THREE SIZES of print, just by pressing a little button. Great for me with my eyesight.

Hope Kim is O.K. I will have to go on Facebook tomorrow to see if she's around.

William ,that's good news.Hopefully you will up and running soon on your new pooter.
Frank no you aren't being a Morbid old so and so.I think most of us now have had to go through the trauma of seeing our Parents go.It is all part of life sadly :-(
Fitz's Mum has apparently been very noisy and abusive since arriving at KGH.But the minute Fitz and his OH turned up she was as sweet as a kitten !!!!!.

We are all fed and watered now and dishes done.So I think I will leave the lovebirds (James and Jess ) and tootle off to bed with my Kindle.Chris is busy doing something in the study.Chester is finally snoring away in his bed.He is very unsettled at the moment.Probably thinks I am going to go away again and leave him. Ahhh! Bless him.
I do hope Kim is alright. It's always a worry when we don't hear from her.
No word from Sheila either.
OMG we have just caught the BIGGEST spider ever.It looked like it was on stilts as the body didn't touch the floor !!!!.I trapped it under a glass and Jess slipped an envelope underneath and then released it outside.I hope there are no more :-S

Night Night everyone x

Morning everyone,

Another lovely day here around 23 mark. We could do with some rain.

Yes I have been poorly, woke up on Saturday with a high temp. and aches and pains. Laid on the couch all day and didn't eat much - no other symptoms. On Sunday I had the runs all day, so something my daughter has sweetly passed on to me, lol. She has been sick for days with it, no school yesterday - nothing new there. She has a new boyfriend to keep her happy, so the mood is quite good at the moment.

Jane so pleased you had a lovely time and good weather. I can just imagine Chester seeing his mummy for the first time in a week. Sorry to hear about Fitz's mum and you are right, it would be cruel for her to linger in poor health in a nursing home for the rest of her days.

Pat I hope Mocha is improving; he doesn't have much luck with kennels, etc. His poor little tummy. Good luck with getting him back on track.

Shirl sorry to hear about your son's meds. I hope he is doing well now.

I thought Sheila was gone for 3 weeks, must have got my wires crossed. She is probably catching up with washing and all the other jobs around the house.

All quiet here and I hope everyone else is well. Off to check out fb. and see what's happening. Enjoy your day all. 5.38 pm AEST

Evening Kim and Morning All
Kim I hope that upset tum hasn't drained you too much and that you are fully recovered from it now.
Sounds like you are having some decent weather. :-D.I think we did have quite a bit of rain in the night ,but now it is a lovely morning and it feels quite fresh.

I think Sheila said she was away for just 6 days so unless she has decided to extend her holiday she should be home now.

Mel I also thought it was 10 Jacks ,but this lot I just bought has 16 and 2 little balls. The Jacks don't feel the same as the old ones as they are much lighter.Maybe the old ones were made of lead!!They were easier to pick up too .

Well I am going to nip to Tes** now as James is back with the car from having his hair cut.I'm doing a Roast tonight (Pork).I asked Jess what she would like for her Birthday Meal and that was her choice .I just need potatoes and veg and a little cake.I have defrosted the Pork and it has a lovely bit of Crackling on the top.Jess loves crackling :-D :-D.
Then I will attack this massive mound of ironing :-S :-S..........BBL

Kim sorry to hear you have been poorly but I hope you are well on the way to recovery now.

You know I said I bought a new shirt yesterday, well when I took it off last night one of the buttons fell off!! I could'nt beleive it it was just in my hand with all the cotton still in the holes. I thought it may have pulled out of the material but no that was still intact with the two little holes where the cotton had been. It must have come off by magic.

Jane can I come to dinner tonight as I love roast pork?? :-D

Here I am, better late than never.

We went to Tesc# this morning. Took my glass's to the girl who lives in the village, when she saw them, she said "NO CAN DO" as they are flameless they can't be repaired. New ones only. So will have to save my pennies. £285.00. !!!

Mel, It's so long since I played 5 stones, that I forgot about the jax. That's the one you threw in the air while you picked up the stones, isn't it ??? I remember one when you hit the stone against the jax and called "CLICKS" There must have been many sayings, what were they everyone ???

Neighbours are having a new carpet fitted in their lounge. A lady carpet fitter, I've never seen one before. !!!

Jane those spiders frighten Ros to death. she says they are big enough to put a "SADDLE ON" If one is around she won't settle till I catch it and put it out.

We never had the rain over this side of the County. This morning it was a bright blue sky, then clouded over as the morning went on. It's quite nice now, but the breeze is making it feel cooler.

I'm up the Doctors at 5.20 pm. The left knee is playing up again. He will either give me another injection or some more cream/tablets. The injection seems to work for two/three weeks. As it's my "BEST LEG" I need it to be safe for me to put my weight on , I don't want to go Ar## over Ti# when out walking to the pub, they will blame it on the drink. :-D :-D :-D

The F & C van is round tonight, so no cooking ;-) ;-) ;-)

Haven't got round to doing my planting, as it would have ment me getting changed into my old gear. then having to change back as I am off to watch the Foorball tonight down the PUB.

Ros is working away on making a chain out of links. She hammers the wire then bends it into figure of eight and joins them together, put a clasp on each end, and there you have it.

That would be great Jane if you could post on Frank's discs and if anyone else would like them I will post on. I'm going to set the font on the largest size, don't think I will need to wear my glasses then, people will think I'm speed reading with so few words on the screen ..... :-D. I have been reading a book in the garden and my wrists really hurt from holding the book up for so long.

Next time I see you Jane I will give you a game of Jacks used to play it loads as a kid and stones, same thing really.

Hope you are over your nasty bout of illness Kim. Some nice warm sunshine will help, it always cheers me up.

Evening All

I remember playing Jacks and five stones as well..Played marbles in the drain top covers as well at school.I have made my screen bigger to read now...even with me wearing glasses the print was small.

Well all the grandchildren are back at school..The younger ones doing their half day this week then full time next week.

It has been very chilly here today...We had rain in the night 2 nights on the trot.

I hope you are feeling alot better today Kim.
Frank did you managed to plant your pansies..

Mocha is feeling a lot better today..I did loook that food up Jane I will bear that in mind..He is so fussy at the moment.

I am just having a vodka and coke at the moment while the dinner is cooking..Havent had one for days..when the weather is nice and warm I enjoy sitting outside just before tea with my book and a glass lol

Jane Report 11 Sep 2012 17:36

Mel ,you are welcome to come to dinner.I'm sure there will be plenty.I always do far too much.

Maureen if you can give me a few days I will post the discs to you.I will be without my car until the end of Friday as James is taking it to York.(That is if I get my car back this evening). It has had to go back to the garage again as the spanner light and other light came on again this morning.

Frank I hope the Dr has managed to give you something for your gammy knee today.Like you say you need to keep your good knee tip top.

Just had a call from the garage and they are only halfway through the diagnostics to find the problem and there is no available courtesy car.So I have said I will just have to have my car back now and hope it stays ok until it can go back in again. Why does nothing go straightforward

:-S

Do you all remember everyone was out,"fresh air and playing"

I recall every one skipped rope including the Mothers sometime two or more at a time.

After my RTA I bought a skipping rope.I thought it would put the strength back in my legs.I nearly broke my neck tripping over them.
It looks easy but it's hard work.

Jane

Jane Report 11 Sep 2012 18:09

David ,I bought myself a skipping rope a few years ago thinking to keep fit.I couldn't believe what hard work it was lol.But as a young girl (which I was once :-D),I skipped for hours, and Hula Hooped.I don't think I could Hula well enough now to keep the hoop around my waist :-S I used to start with the hoop around my ankles then gradually work it up my body until I got it around my neck.Goodness I must have been fit then :-D :-D

Mel This Pork is smelling goooooood :-D.Just waiting to put the Roast Potatoes in now.

Evening All,

Glad you had a nice holiday Jane. I thought you would want to go back once you got home! :-S Give Fitz my best wishes for his body scan. It must be a bit nerve wracking when they do these checks, but good that they keep an eye on things. Shame about his mum, but I agree, better to slip away than feel unwell for ages.

David, Like Jane I have a skipping rope in the garage that I bought years ago. I thought it would help me get fit too, but it was so hard as you say that I couldn't keep going long enough to get fit!! :-S Yet at school we would always be skipping, crossing arms over, jumping high enough for the rope to go round twice.....what happened to all that energy. All that lovely fresh air we would be out in too. We seemed to be on the go all the time, running from one thing to another then would be fast asleep in minutes when we went to bed. :-S Good luck with the new desktop, it sounds like a good improvement.

Good luck setting up your latest computer William........I'm keeping everything 'crossed' for you! I'm sure words will flow out of your fingers twice as fast when you are up and running with this new one.

Sorry to hear you have been ill Kim and that your little 'MISS' has passed it on! I hope you are feeling a bit better now, but these things can be very draining.

Frank, look after that good knee won't you. I hope the doc sorted you out. Shame about your glasses though......still it was worth someone else looking at them. Ros is doing well with her wirework. They show some beautiful things using wirework on the jewellery maker channel. I'm looking forward to seeing what we do this term.

Maureen, when do you go on your hols? The Kindle sounds ideal for that. Careful if you read in bed though.........I read the other day that people need to dim the backlight much more for reading at night......interferes with sleep and the body clock. I like the idea of one as they are so convenient, but a proper book seems to have more character somehow. I suppose folk said the same when books replaced stone tablets!! lol. :-D

We went to see the film, Anna Karenina, yesterday. It wasn't quite what we expected but it was still good. There are a few films we want to see now the children are back at school. It's been all children's films the past few weeks. OH has been busy booking other things for us to see like Alan Davies and Michael Portillo.

I've finally got things ready for the electrician to come and put a socket near the waterfall......just in time for winter!!! I planted a couple of shrubs and some more rock plants today and OH has done his FIRST jetwashing........the smaller top patio. He was wet up to his knees by the time he was done and had mud freckles!! :-D This afternoon we went to see the parrots at nearby Birdland. It is only a small place, but they are doing a lot of work building new walkways. You can go inside some of the enclosures and feed the birds.......one little one managed to give OH quite a nip!! Now he's down at Long Buckby watching a match.

Hello all. With a rope keep at it.
A boxer user a skipping rope while training.
Skipping works the heart and the muscles.
I watched Charles Sonny Liston skip to music and he was a big man.

When we are twice the weight with less than half the energy its not easy.
Use it or lose it.
I think I'm on the verge o losing it :-|

Ann I bet he looked lovely with his mud freckles :-D.Those power washers splatter everything in sight don't they.Especially clean windows :-S
I will be off to bed shortly with my Kindle .I have it set on really large print.Chris thinks it's ridiculous.I really should make it a bit smaller. It looks like a primary school book lol.
James and Jess are off to York in the morning.....I'm quite looking forward to the house to myself for a couple of days :-D :-D
