Afternoon All,
Mandy what a stupid man! Some people just don't seem to think what might happen do they.
Frank, I have one of those feeding stations still in it's box till I decide where I put it in the 'new' garden. :-D Like you say I suppose you can use the bath dish for other things. Some birds like to soak the food in a bit of water though. I think I will stick something around mine so it doesn't get wedged in like Mel has had happen with hers. Hope your dicky tum is better now. I made mine a bit dicky today after eating a layer of choccies last night. That will teach me.......till the next time. :-S You did very well to catch your mole!! We tried everything with ours and when the molecatcher came, it scarpered elsewhere.
I managed to trim the foam stuff back this morning.......what a game!! It swelled to about 3 times as big and had stuck very well. It didn't help that I knocked the bucket with all the bits I'd cut off and picked off all over the slate chips either!! :-S One step forward, two back. lol. Now I've noticed I need to pack more soil under the side of the pebble pool, so the water won't run off the edge. OH has been shovelling some of the gravel back over the fabric we put down.
Went to see FIL and MIL later. FIL seems much brighter now and told us (when MIL was getting a cup of tea) that he'd had a little RUN when he went to fetch the paper this morning!!! Unusually, MIL hadn't gone with him otherwise I doubt 'running' would have been allowed!! It's good to see him more like his old self though and although he is a bit stooped now he said his back hadn't hurt at all this past week. MIL's BP is improving with the change of tablets which is good as her operation is next month.
Mel, I bet Buzzards don't often get the chance of 'MOLE' for 'TEA'! :-D
So much for OH saying 'don't ask' after his interview yesterday. They rang today and said he'd got the job, so he was stunned to say the least, but pleased. :-0
Shirl, what a worry with your son. It's a good job he is nearby now so at least you know when he's not well. I hope he's started to feel better now. Still hot where you are I see.

Well, I#m off down the pub at 7.30. England are playing, so will get everybody cheering them on. I might have a beer or three. I haven't had a drink for a week, so it will be nice.
Congratulations to your OH Ann, was this the job he wanted ??? Dicky tum seems a lot better. Imodi## seems to had done the trick. It was allright catching the Mole, but you should have seen my LAWN :-0 :-0 :-0
Haven't seen any birds around today, they might come in the morning before I am up !!!!
Ros is off to a Village show next Saturday, she has been busy making more necklaces, bracelets, and earings. She will have to find out if they supply a table, if not MORE EXPENCE. My old decorating table is about knackered, so she can't/won't take that.
It looks like it is going to get warmer over the weekend. I had a shock today. My neighbour who is 72 was lying on the grass in her swimming costume. (NOT A PRETTY SIGHT) She didn't stay out there long, I wonder why !!!!
Might pop in later.

Ann glad MIL and FIL are getting back to normal now. They are such a worry when they won't take the doc's advice.
Forgot to say the Wartime Farm started yesterday night. Did any of you bother to watch it?? I did'nt think it was as good as some of the other programs they have made.
Shirl I sent you the pic and you told me you could'nt open it.
Had a go on the border but I strted in the middle!! Silly old fool, but I wanted to cut down some of the lupins which had gone all brown. Will see if I can do more tomorrow. Bit stiff now as I can't stand and bend for too long and I kneel and do the front, or lay on my side!!!! I think trying to stand between the plants is what plays my hips up and then I have to watch the trip wire oh put along the front for the rabbits. If I have tripped over it once I have done it a dozen times.
Off now so will say night night and going for a nice shower.

LOL Frank. I'm not surprised your neighbour didn't stay out in her swimsuit if she spotted your beady eyes on her.............she must have seen the shock on your face!!. lol. Good on her though for not caring about her age!! :-D It's good that Lewis is liking things at his new school. He should settle in quickly by the sound of it. Could you borrow a decorating table for Ros from a neighbour? Or get one on ebay?
Yes OH did want this, the third job he has got now with different councils to give advice on complaints. It shouldn't be too time consuming and isn't regular work, he doesn't want that, but it is the kind of thing that was part and parcel of his old job and something he will enjoy doing. I think at home he misses being IMPORTANT sometimes (lol) and he likes to be knowledgable and give advice. Doing the clerking for schools is similar in that he has to advise and know the law. It will give me a bit more 'ME' time too. :-D
The talk by the genetisist from Leicester University last night was fascinating. They are working with genealogists and doing studies on DNA and the movement of populations over the years. Things like studying the DNA of people in places in the uk with Viking names to see how many have scandinavian genes. With DNA they can identify anyone who has a romany ancestor as a particular gene will show up. in every descendant. Also 80% of people with the surname Attenborough are related to each other.
Well I have just noticed a lump the size of a 50p on top of my arm. It feels hot too so I bet something bit me in the garden this morning. No puncture mark I can see though.......maybe that will show up tomorrow. Something else to put cream on!!
I bet Jane isn't looking forward to returning to the 'mess' tomorrow. Still she has had a week of really good weather to 'chill' in.
Better get to bed, I seem to be late for me lately......no wonder I keep sleeping in. :- S
Night,night xx

Not first again,
Morning all, if you are as beautiful as the morning, the world will be a good place today !!!!
Home alone, Ros has just gone to meet Maryine for the Saturday shop. They haven't seen each other for over a month, with Ros going to Buck House, and us up to Conrads, before that Martine was on holiday.
I'm not eating till after the post has come, because if those pansies turn up, I want to get them potted on. If I eat, then do it, I will burping and feeling sick, bending over for so long. If they don't turn up I will have a BRUNCH. and sit in the garden reading
Ann You do seem to find some interesting talks to go to, thats the advantage of being close to a major City. I don't think we have anything like that in Northampton, if we have I have never seen it advertised.
I'm not sure what type of table she will want. I suppose we could pick up a cheappy in B & # or Tesc#.
It's good your OH still has an interest outside the home. Did he take early retirement ?? or its this something after being retired. ???
It was nice at the pub last night everyone who has been on holiday were brown as berries and had plenty to talk about. One girl/woman has just returned from Greece where the temp. was 48 degrees. Far to hot for me.
I bumped in to a girl who works in Tesc# Optical Dept. last night. I told her about my broken glass's. She said bring the in Mon/Tues. and I will see if I can pull a few strings and get them repaired. Great if she can, as they would cost £285.00 to replace.
Our Jane and Shelia, will be getting ready to return home. If the weather has been kind to them as it has been for us, they would have had a lovely holiday.
Mel, I caught a bit of that, where they were trying to make a "MOLE" I bcould see the bracket was to weak. AND TOLD THEM SO :-D :-D :-D Ros said SHUT UP they can't hear you.!!!!

Afternoon everyone,
Phew its so hot out there today , we've been to sons to help sort out his shed and take some bits to the tip , we came home with one of those garden seats with the table in the middle ,son had it stand in the front garden and never used it ,he was going to dump it which was a shame as it only needs a tidy up with a stain ,another job for hubby!!
I caught the last half hour of Wartime Farm , i didn't realise you could be fined for having too many lights on indoors ! i just thought it was for showing a light !!
Well i suppose the holiday makers will soon be home , what a good week they picked , i should think Sheila had a good crossing .
Ann, glad OH got the job ,he'll be out from under your feet for a few hours LOL more beading time for you :-D :-D
It will be handy if she can get your glasses fixed for you Frank, you know how to turn the charm on :-D :-D :-D
Nothing planned for this week end , we'll probably start going to the coast a bit more now the holiday makers have thinned out a little .

Afternoon All,
And a lovely sunny one it is too! I forgot about Wartime Farm and OH had reminded me too. :-S
Frank it would be good if you could get your glasses mended and save a bomb! Yes, a bit of charm should help I think! :-D Shame the pansies didn't turn up today. I suppose it will be Monday now. Yes, OH took early retirement at age 57 just over 2 years ago. As they closed offices and there were huge staff cuts, he and a few other senior managers, whose jobs would be going got the opportunity to go and to take their pension early. Pay had just been frozen for 3 years and if he hadn't taken the opportunity, a short while down the line he could have been made redundant and on much worse terms. A no-brainer really and with the job plus the travel he could be doing 60+ hours most weeks. Now he has more time and can do little jobs if and when he fancies! He doesn't want anything full time and loves all the things he can do now.
My arm looks worse today, a 2 inch wide circle now, swollen, itchy and pink with small blisters appearing. I can't see an actual bite mark though. I've taken an anti histamine tablet to see if that helps. Will see how it is by Monday.
That was good, getting the table off your son Mandy. I bet it will look like new with a bit of stain. It must be nice going to the coast when it is quieter. I'm hankering for a bit of sea breeze and some sand underfoot now! :-)

I went out to a village nearby earlier as they hold a Victory Show each year all to do with the Battle of Britain, but there were crowds queueing to even park in the fields so I came home again. Might go tomorrow.......early.
It is so hot now I have my tootsies immersed in a bowl with bubble bath in.......lovely!

Where is everyone ???
Can't be bothered will "RED or BLACK" or X factor, so will look aroiund eBay and google a few things.
Ann, That's the trouble this weather, everybody wants to go where you want to go ;-) ;-) ;-). It has been a great day. I have sat outside most of the dayI had my skate wing and chips, there was so much, that I couldn't eat it all !!! Ros had her Beef in black bean sauce and green peppers. with fried rice. She cleared the lot as usual.
Glad that your OH got a good deal on his retitrement., and that he is happy with what he does or dosen't do. My neighbour worked for the local government (placing dissabled people into work) He was offered a great deal to retire earley. He said "at no time would he get a better deal" so retired like your OH. He has let himself go, and smokes and drinks like there's no tomorrow. Such a shame as he was a real "gentleman" smart and always well presented.
Mandy, glad you had a chance to grab that table and seats. Harvey had a mosiac table, and it started to crack in places. He was going to throw that out. I said bring up to us. It sits on the patio. With all the pots of plants Ros has. you can't see the damage !!!
Oh yes, one light per room, and only turned it on when you went in that room, and turned it off when you came out. I still do it today. But must admit we do have three table lamps on in the lounge. All with the power saving bulbs. We rarely use the centre lights in the D/room or lounge.
The blackout was so important around the London Area. Neighbours would knock on each others doors if they saw a chink of light.

HELLO!!!!!! I'm back :-D I think I want to go back to Northumberland again. You should see it here!.The tiles all came up last tuesday but not easily. In the end they all had to be smashed to get them up :-S.So I have very uneven and crumbly kitchen and utility floors with tiny bits of sharp bits of tiles that can't be seen (but felt if stood on) so I have to keep Chester out of there.(Not easy). It is a bit smelly too.
Any way enough of that.
We had a lovely week and brilliant weather.I met a dog called CHESTER :-D.Saw some great places we missed last year.Nice meals out and a great day in Edinburgh . I will have some pics to send when I get around to putting them on the pooter.
I haven't read any posts yet.Not sure if I can catch up with a whole week lol Have I missed anything important? I hope Sheila is home safe and sound now after her trip across the water.
Will catch up again tomorrow ....Oh it's nice to be back :-D

I did'nt get up the border today as I had to water the tunnel well and pick a load of runner beans, toms, cues, and marrows. Had to take the wheelbarrow up with me as I could'nt carry it all in a trug. Then oh came back home so I had to make him a coffee and never went out again.
