Oh shot three rabbits yesterday while I was out shopping and he left one on our front lawn. He came in from the garden just now and said look out the window slowly. There on the grass was the young buzzard pecking away at the rabbit. I tried to take a picture of it through the window but it knew I was looking as htey have such keen eyesight. It tried to fly off with the rabbit held in one claw but failed and flew off anyway. I did take a pic or two through the window. put camera on download and went out in the garden and looked again and a magpie was at the rabbit but then that flew off too. Now the rabbit has been moved to behind the tree!!

Mel, I didn't realise that it was a rabbit. But a great picture.
I have just spent an hour down memory lane. I went on Google for Max Bygraves and found songe from the war 1939/1945. There are 7 tapes plus loads of others. If anyone likes that music/sounds/speaches etc. go and have a look.
"All dressed up with nowhere to go." Thats one for you LIZ. still waiting for Ros.

Would putting pepper or curry powder in the cat corners deter them?

Car passed it's MOT, so that's another job out of the way!! If Ros is late Frank do remember that 'The soft answer turneth away wrath'!!!! That one can be difficult some times, and also can have the effect of making other people thinking that you are a soft touch!! Not a bad day here, Millie has had a good grooming, long overdue, she was looking like an old hearthrug! looks much tiidier now! Supper now, telly and bedf!

Evening All,
Well the visit to the Castle turned out great. We don't like organised tours as a rule, like to meander on our own, but the guide was very good. OH says it is one of the most interesting places he has visited, so much history there. Most of the rooms are not used now, but are all furnished. It is only called a Castle because 1 corner tower was originally a Castle Keep. The grand dining room has had guests like Mrs Thatcher, Princess Margaret and Prince Charles who has stayed there. The rooms are quite cosy which is unusual in these places. The Castle overlooks a huge lake and nice gardens. Sadly, there were no scones so we had a Tun*ocks cake each and some butterscotch crunch biccies!! :-D
Kim, nice to hear from you........just hang on in there.......she will be grown up with her own responsibilities in a few years!!! There might be a sea change by then and you could be the best thing since sliced bread. Glad you had a good trip out to friends for Fathers Day.
Well done for getting that pic Mel! They are always riding the thermals when I see them, far too high for a pic.
Frank I had another look for the Pigeon this morning, but no sign so hopefully it is home now. When grandad died, dad brought his 7 pigeons back to our house and put them in the garage temporarily till something was sorted out for them. He also brought his pet Goldfinch, Joey, who I kept. After a few days, someone else in the family said they would take the Pigeons, so dad let them go and they were all back at grandads 56 miles away by the next day I think! Thanks for explaining how the time was registered, I never knew quite how that worked. I suppose the times on all the clocks were synchronised first. I know some of the loft roofs used to be painted with patterns like checks to help the birds find 'home' more easily.

Eving all,
David, I put curry powder, cayenne pepper, you name it I tried it. It smelt like a curry house when you opened the front door. Even the neighbours commented on the smell.
Liz thanks for that. I did get to my hairdresser. She thought I had deserted her. As if I would, she's lovely. <3 <3 <3
No alice band now Mandy, I look 15 years younger. Thats what I say, and I'm sticking to it !!!!
Glad you had a good day out Ann, and that explained the clock O.K.

I bet you feel great now you are your 'younger' self again Frank! :-D I know what you mean, although they do say a 'ponytail' pulls the wrinkles out. ;-) That's 3 of us shorn this week!! That cat IS persistent isn't it. Maybe the netting will force it to find a new place it likes better.......hopefully not another bit of your garden!
Liz, I was booking my car in for it's MOT today. :-S I know it needs brake work from the last service so it won't be cheap. I hate the suspense waiting to see if it passes. They bring more and more things into the test as time goes on. Still, at least you have the green light for another year which is good. :-D
Mel, do you recognise the handwriting on the envelope? MIL got a card from an old friend last week for her 80th birthday. The friend had splashed out for this 'special' birthday and enclosed some gift vouchers. Trouble is MIL's 80th birthday isn't until next year!!
OH is back from footie, says he met an old work colleague of mine who wished to be remembered, must be 11 years since I last saw him......how time flies.
Off to bed now, need to see if those ants have left home tomorrow and get on outside while OH visits one of his 'schools'. :-S Night, night, hope we all sleep tight. xx

I think you did very well discribeing ?sp how the clock worked Frank. When I worked at the PDSA we often got racing pigeons brought in and It was me who had to ring the number of the ring through to a registry place.
Just watched a Sweeny Todd film that I had'nt seen before. Ray Winston was Sweeny Todd.
Off to bed soon after a glass of wine.
Isn't it quiet on here without our Jane............. I am missing her posts already. No postcard yet.....................
Night night all see you in the morning.

Goodness Mel, Sweeny Todd is pretty unpleasant, from pussy cats etc to humans! what delicious pies!!! I saw the musical many moons ago, and it certainly made me 'sit up'!!! Do be careful Frank next time you go to the hair dresser! If she/he has a funny look in their eye, get ready to run!!! Beautiful day here, Millie is due for another session, this time she should be back to normal - no! I won't be making her in to pies - too old and too tough - only joking!!!!

Morning All,
The ants have gone!! :-D Nice and sunny here so I have filled the hole where the ant nest was with slate chips and put the big rock back on top. Then I cleared more bits of soil between the waterfall rocks and joins so I can put the foam stuff in, then cleaning the dirt out of the pebble pool channels. Now I can hardly straighten up!! I notice 'SOMETHING' has been in the greenhouse eating the bottom tomatoes. I think it may be snails so better have a look with a torch before I go to bed tonight.
OH will be back from seeing the 'Headmistress' soon and then we will be off for a carvery. He said it is just Headteacher now, no mistress or master.

Afternoon already,
Busy, busy, busy. I ordered 160 pansie plugs last night. This morning I have washed about 200 small pots, when they are dry I will fill them with potting compost, ready to transpant when the plugs arrive, should be Saturday.
Ros is in the garden, still putting MORE PLANTS IN !!! She threw so much stuff out last week, that I thought the garden would be clear for a while. HOW WRONG COULD I BE <3 <3 " Bless her little cotton socks"
Line of washing out in the sun and breeze, will smell wonderful when it comes in ;- ) ;-) ;-)
Ros has redone three hanging baskets this morning, the old ones had gone over, so" all ship shape and bristol fashion" again. ( these are for you Liz) Will think of more as I go along !!!!
I found a load of flying ants yesterday, The blackbird and Robin were feasting on them as though they were going out of fashion. The Blackbird stood right in the middle of the ordinary ants and got bitted several times. He was jumping up and down like a Highland fling, I did have to smile.
No sign of the CAT since the netting went up, and no sign anywhere else in the front garden YET !!!
I remember coming home from Junior school aged about nine. We had just had a T.V. I turned in on and there was SWEENY TODD on (most unusual in the daytime to have a film) I sat there terrified, but wouldn't turn it off !!! it scared the SH## out of me, seeing him cut throats and flipping the handle to sent them down the shoot. I saw a recent film of it, with Russel Brand singing his way through the part. Not as good as I remember.
I have prepared dinner for tonight. Pork slices, new potato's from the garden, and ratatouille (had to look that up) lol lol.

I can't imagine Ray Winston as Sweeney Todd Mel......he's too nice!
Liz, I think Frank is a 'pussycat' in his hairdressers hands!! lol. She seems to be as quick with quips as he is!! ;-) Is that another grooming session for Millie, she will look like a diva at this rate. It just came into my head, a programme about pets the other night and a woman was putting pink nail varnish on a Vietnamese pig's nails!! A step too far I think. :-S
Frank, I hope the cat isn't 'holding on' till you are out of sight. I would love to have seen it's face when it saw all your netting! :-D Ros is working hard on the garden and baskets and you you all ready with your pots for the plug plants. I never, ever seem to be in advance like that. I will be out with that foam stuff to do the waterfall when my nice carvery has gone down a bit. I took a pic of a huge ginger and white cat while we were there. We called at a garden centre on the way back and I came back with an alpine to plant. We ladies are all the same.

Oh what a beautiful day, The sun has shone all day here.
Ros is now on the front garden, the bit that isn't ours but we always plant and keep it nice. Really it belongs to the young couple, but they are quite happy for us to tend it. Saves him/her work. and Ros likes it to look nice.
All pots and trays washed and filled, I was going to repair one of the wooden hanging things, The backs fallen off. Can't find my jigsaw blades anywhere. I have hunted throught the shed and garage. I will have to some more, Then I will find the others.
Ann/Liz, if you OHs went to my hairdressers, they would be putty in here hands. She's about 25/30 years old Pretty as a picture, and a great body to go with it. She always has a laugh and joke with me, that makes me feel younger, and it's like a tonic. I've told her if ever her Mum and Dad throws her out she can come and live with me.!!!!
Just been the tea boy again, Now i'm going to set some LUPIN SEEDS. they will stay in the greenhouse till next spring. By the way I had those "ICE CREAM TULIPS" come, they do look good, but at "2.00 each, I don't think I will be buying too many.

Millie looks quite smart! the hair round her paws has been clipped, and she has had a general 'make over'!!! Tomorrow I shall just tidy her up and make a mental note NOT to let her get so raggerty in future! She's been a bit neglected on the grooming front what with one thing and another - smacked wrist for me!!! Talking of sayings:- My younger uncle when he was a small boy swore blind one evening that he'd had a bath! his mother (my granny) insisted that she KNEW he hadn't! How did she know - well, it's difficult to have a bath, dry yourself and not even dampen the towell!!! A case of 'your sins finding you out' methinks!!!! He'd put water in the bath and emptied it, even dampened his flannel, but forgot the towel! 'I' has taken to watching 'the world of wrestling' on a Sports Channel! we used to like it years ago, Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks etc, both dead now- but still making us laugh in hindsight!
