Evening all

I have been to work today and am out the house by 12.30

Mel..I see you havent received my tree so I have reinvited you again.I still have to add the info you have given me to the tree.

I think you opened everything up for me I asked. But I have found I can take a another generation back on George Ashby born about 1838 and living in Huntingdon Herts ..I think there is an 1841 census .

Even though Im not a member of Ancest*y anymore they still give me hints for people but of course I cannot open them..So If you dont mind finding this one for me I will be pleased...

Still waiting for new computer to arrive! Like all things with us this year, nothing seems to go right. If I'm stuck with this laptop much longer I'll be a case for Specsavers! One reaon why I only look in occasionally.

Hope you are all doing alright, still think about you all.

Take care everyone, be back - s o m e t i m e . . . .

(where's my eye drops???)

Frank Report 29 Aug 2012 19:56

Evening all,

There is a clear blue sky now, and I would expect a good sunset. But it has rained nearly all day.

Hope everything is settled now Jane. I forgot James is at home, so he can do the "CHESTER" run each morning and feed and water. I think the dog you are thinking about is a "LABRADOODLE" A neighbour has not long had one. He's called "NORMAN" and goes mad when he sees me, He's so boisterous, I would love to take him for a walk, but frightened he might pull me over :-0 :-0 :-0

Shirl, I don't know how to describe WHITEBAIT but Mel, I think has hit the nail on the head. !!! I can taste them as I sit here. :-D :-D :-D I will have to see if Tesc# sell them or Morriso#s.

I should get my haircut before the weekend. It's so long, and grey round the edges. It would take 10 years off me, with it cut. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

I think I will double up on my sleeper tonight, that way I am sure to get some sleep.

Evening All,

We haven't forgotten you either William! I hope your new computer arrives soon as it could be tricky holding a Sherlock Holmes magnifier while typing!! :-S

Just lost a post!! When will I learn.....should have copied it before posting!!

Had a dentist checkup this morning. My dentist was on holiday so I got one of the new young enthusiastic ones. He told me that 2 of my top back teeth are on their last legs!! I had an abcess under one in the past and it would have been taken out if my regular dentist hadn't said to wait and see what happened when the abcess went rather than extract it. That was only 33 years ago so it hasn't done badly!!.

Frank, I had one of 'those' nights last night too......we could have had a chat on here. lol I looked up those Icecream tulips as I hadn't heard of them. Don't they look lovely.....so unusual.

Mel, I had a job to see anything but 'bush' for a while, then could just make out a santa like figure. I should tell your OH you will be serving up one of his big Koi 'En Croute' if he keeps eyeing up your baby fish!!! lol. :-0

That's a nuisance having a last minute problem with Chester's holiday home. Still, he should be fine at home with James and Jess shouldn't he? Could you not take him with you? I would just get your case packed for your hols if I were you and try not to fret about the house thing going on. You will know the extent of what needs doing when the men have been tomorrow, so that won't be on your mind while you are away. It can all get a bit overwhelming being in a mess with things dragging on and not being sure if workmen will turn up. You need a break from it. Just try to think how much better things have turned out than they might have done and that you should be all straight for Christmas. :-D

After all the rain today and 'autumny feel' we are not sure whether to go away the week after next, so are waiting to see the weather forecast nearer the time. I'm sure we'll find somewhere if there is a sudden indian summer. lol

We have free tickets for the 'park and ride' down the road so are going into the city tomorrow. It will save the extortionate parking costs!! OH has some book vouchers for Wate*stones and I want to get some cord and ribbon ready for when we start jewellery class.

Sheila Report 29 Aug 2012 21:02

HELLO there everyone so sorry I have not been on the site for a while I have had a few problems with my neck again and was worried about sitting at the computor for too long.

I wanted to wish our Jane a happy holiday and hope all her problems end goodness it is enough to make your hair stand on end. Mine does anyway after
my hair was permed.
The weather is great here for a sea trip windy ,wet ,and blowing a gale truly hope the boat is not going to make me seasick with not a thing packed and still trying to sort out my teeth I am not in the holiday spirit my fitting for the teeth is tomorrow the dentist had to rush off to India family problems nobody to stand in for him.
I got some teeth a massive big plate with loads of metal in my mouth and a lump on the side which hurt and razor like edges which almost cut my fingers. I went Tuesday and took my teeth and said I hate this please make it how I want or you just simply will not be paid. Well the poor dentist I think was well and truly fed up
so he said Sheila tell me how you would like your denture and I will do it exactly how you want it. I said I want this off here that off there and he looked at me and said well it wont fit. I said I dont care do it. he said ok come back Thursday .I am dreading what I will end up with. haha.

Beryls been moaning what will I do without you .Yesterday I was sat in the Chinese restaurant with hubby and a friend and Beryl popped her head in the door scaring all six of us in there .Beryl shouted Is this the place that the paper said had rats as big as cats in the kitchen. Everyone stopped eating and then she said oh no it was the restaurant in the city tata.I was fuming was just about to run after her and my hubby said do not bother to run after her that is what she wants to spoil lunch.

Jessica is upset at the moment but I did laugh she was asked to look after
two little girls they are identical twins Cassy and Cat five years old .Jessica went in the afternoon, there mum left a note saying Jess dental appointment for Cat can you run her there I will pick her up. Mrs Brubecker will pop in for a while to look after Cassy .Jessica did not feel well so she asked Mrs Brubecker could you take the Cat for me. Her wording being wrong. along comes Mrs Brubecker later all dolled up picks up the cat pops it in her basket and goes to the local vet and leaves it there. Meanwhile the dentist phones and says where is Cat Jessica is on the phone Cassie goes outside and starts trying to make mud pies with the rose garden dirt. Jessica had to get Cat to the dentist so she grabbed Cassie
all dirty and put both twins in the car.

Dentist over Jess came back cleaned up Cassie and then the vet phoned we do not have an appointment for any pussy today. So she says oh can I come later for the cat and he said I will bring the cat back. The vet came and meanwhile Mrs
Madison the twins mum said that is not our cat he is hopefully inside the house
the vet explained everything and Mrs Madison said well a nice kettle of fish Jessica please get your belongings and go Jess went home and sobbed her
eyes out to a very amused Ryan who dashed round to the Madisons pad and said Hey you did not pay Jess and everyone makes mistakes . Well the money was given and the door of the house firmly slammed.
.Ryan laughed all night and Jess phoned me and I laughed also .I said what are you going to do now Jess and she said shoot my b lood something something
self. Poor Jess.

Hope Kim is ok.

MEL your deck looks fab .
Thanks for all he funnies

Pat I think on the 1871 census George could be living next door to his father!!!! I wil send you that census and look at the names just above Mark Ashby 1804 67 and ???? wife. It is the census I sent you where George 1860 was on the page after his parents.

Morning Jane and All and Evening Kim,

Sun and rain today with a wind again.

Sheila what a funny story about Jess. It just goes to show how things can get mixed up.

Well I think I have got Pat back another couple of generations.

Don't know whether to go shopping today or not. I really need some things now as have run out of esentials.

David I am afraid Tesc* don't come out as far as us they only go to the crossroads up the road about a quarter of a mile away. Anyway I am a fussy shopper and like to choose my own meat and bacon etc.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Aug 2012 10:32

The nearest Tesc* to me is about 15 miles away.

Jane

Jane Report 30 Aug 2012 11:10

My nearest one is 5 minutes :-D.I think it is great that things can be ordered and delivered .Not that I have the need to do that. But for people who work long hours ,or those housebound I imagine it is a godsend.
I'm stuck in the lounge as the 2 men are busy ripping of skirting boards,Kick Boards and wallpaper. They are only taking paper of wall that are damp.Other people have to do the rest. These men are from the company who dry out properties.

I really could do with a drink but will have to wait until they have finished.Chester is shut away in the study with his food and water.
OMG I just had a look through the door into the kitchen EEK!!
Now they are in here trying to get a skirting off.The noise is LOUD (I hope James manages to sleep through it) :-S
It is all a bit dusty now and my nose is getting stuffy and itchy .

Morning all, Evening Kim,

Bright here this morning ,but we've had a little shower ,suns out again now.

What a todo this morning , we needed to tax hubby's van and we couldn't find the insurance papers !! turns out we hadn't renewed !!!!! :-S ran out in JULY!!!!
Well it was panic stations as hubby always makes sure it's done early we never let it run out ,but some how this year he had !!
Rang Av*va and its all sorted out ,but will now have to tax it online as we won't have the insurance papers to take into the post office .

My back has been aching for a couple of days now and i keep going to the loo a bit too, wondered if i might have a water infection , keep drinking plenty of water to flush it through :-S

Sheila ,hope you have a lovely holiday and a calm crossing on Saturday , i had to smile at poor Jessica , what a pickle !! :-D

Jane, it sounds as if you are going away at the right time with all the work going on , just pack and go and forget about it all for a week , glad you got things sorted out for poor little Chester .

Mel, thanks for the photo's ,i think i can see the green man, or at least his head just at the top of the wall , looks to me as if he's looking to the right ?

Nice to see you William , hope you get sorted out soon.

Coffee time i think .
