David I think that is a great idea.We could have some 'sand bags' at hand for the next time the rain is forced under the garage door.I don't know why we haven't thought of that before!!!

Just watching Who do you think you are now

This idea would save many people from making insurance claims that would result in their premium going up,and claims for water damage cannot be made twice.

Morning all,

It has been a very pleasant day here, so got some washing done.

Jane don't disappear on us. Life wouldn't be the same, lol. I did read that you had a talk with Rach**l's brother. Good that you were able to get your version across to him. It is sad that it all happened in the first place and of course you would still feel the upset of recalling it all. Keep yourself and poor Chester hydrated - I remember when we had our kitchen done and the dust and dirt everywhere. My hair was like steel wool, could not get my fingers through it.

That daughter of mine. If she didn't tell so many lies I could almost cope with the behaviour. The lack of trust rips at my insides. My son is probably too honest and very loyal. He's very afraid of his sister and her temper. :-0

Big black Bess was at the vet today. She has a terrible problem with worms, so once a month we have a trip to the vet for her worm tablet, but next time they are going to try something different and want her back in 3 weeks. I would not want to shove a pill into that mouth with those big claws and jaws, lol. We have tried a pill popper, but she fits like a panther.

Maureen good to have you back and glad you had a good time.

Pat sorry Mocha was injured. I hope the salty water is doing the trick for him.

Not much to report, hairdresser is coming tomorrow to make me beautiful. ;-) :-)

Might BBL when some of you are awake, if not have a happy day. 6.07 pm AEST

Morning All and Evening Kim,

Nice to hear from you. Sorry to hear you had another DO with your daughter. I wonder when she will come to her senses and behave? Hope it is soon for your sake as it must be so upsetting for you.

I have'nt had to cook a meal all week. We have been to the nice pub in a close village, had fish and chips the next day and chinese last night. I could get really used to this................... :-D :-D :-D

Jane I don't need you to shrivel up and disappear so keep away from those dehumidifyers!! and take Chester with you....................Perhaps you will feel a bit better later on when the postman comes!!!

Don't know what is on for today yet. SIL has just taken her oh fishing to Bude on the canal and then we may go out together somewhere to a beach probably. Weather a bit iffy today and we have had a bit of rain and the skies are dull but Chrissy and I don't mind that.

I stayed at home yesterday and we ordered the new tank which is supposed to be delivered today so oh will have to stay here for the delivery.

I must go and wah my glasses as they need it!! :-S :-S with the rain and wind we had yesterday I can hardly see through them :-| :-| :-|

<3 to all....................

Jane Report 16 Aug 2012 11:11

Morning /Evening All

I would be quite happy if the dehumifiers sucked up some of my fat lol but I don't want to look like a prune for my hols :-D.I have a haircut next week so I will get Nigel to put a really intensive conditioner on.

Poor Bess Kim.I wonder why the worm pills don't work for her.I always has trouble getting pills down my old cat Solo.No problem with Chester.I just wrap any tablets in some ham and whoosh down they go :-D

Mel I am looking forward to doing no cooking when we are away.I don't mind doing something simple if we are too worn out to go out again in the evening. But this time our cottage is right in the town so walking distance to pubs, restaurants and a fantastic fish and chip shop.We went there once last year and had a great meal of F&C with bread and butter and a pot of tea each all for about a tenner.

I have had a bit of a hoover downstairs and will have a good dust now.I think it will be the last time before all the tiles come up.
But I need a coffee first :-D

Yes it's very easy to get used to having meals served up for you, just look at the menu and pick what you fancy. I did get to paddle my feet in the sea, but it was far too cold to go in, there were some brave people swimming though.

I bet having your hair done Kim made a difference. the world seems a better place when you're happy with your hair. I'm sure it will all come good with your daughter eventually, probably when she has a place of her own, that's how it was with me and my mum.

I keep going out in the garden to get on with the patio and it starts drizzling and have to come back in, it's showing sunshine from 2.00 till 3.00, don't know how they can be that accurate. Going to be very muggy this weekend too, if the forecast is right, will be nice to sit out in daughter's garden, all the family will be there on Sunday.

Those worming tablets are a devil to get down my cats, Oscar, who normally will eat anything turns away from his bowl, so most of it ends up in the bin, it's really hard to get the flea treatment on too when you're doing it single handed.

So sad about your friend's dog Jane, you get so attached to them they become like your children. I know how upset I've been in the past when it didn't look like Alfie was going to make it.

I can see some blue sky so I'll go and see how long I can be out there before it starts raining again.

Frank Report 16 Aug 2012 14:36

Afternoon all,

Poor you Kim. Let me have your Daughter for a Month, I bet you would see a change in her. Why has she got such a CHIP on her shoulder ???

Jane, We had so much rain here yesterday !!!. The gutters couldn't manage, water spewed all over the Patio and front path.
Nicola next door, took the baby and Mason for a walk, when they got back their cloths were stuck to their bodies. (wet T shirt) Just right for William. !!!! Sorry Mate

Ros has decided to CLEAN all the carpets in the bungalow. What with the Hoover and the carpet cleaner going all day, my head is throbbing, with the noise. I took myself of onto the patio for an hour, but the gusts of wind almost blew me away. :-0 :-0 :-0

It's been so peaceful since that dog has stopped Barking. We can have the patio doors open, without worrying about the noise. My trouble is, since my Stroke. I can't stand loud noises. It just sets something off in my brain. The lad next door is for ever bouncing his basket ball against their bungalow, and bouncing it up and down the street outside. I have to close all doors and windows or I will say something, and upset the family. and I don't want that. Ros says just ignore it. Easier said than done.

Glad you have the tank sorted Mel. Nice not to cook, I will have to try it.

Maureen hows MOCHA ? has his leg improved. :

The weather was dreadful yesterday i sat in the car for 30 minutes waiting for the dreadful downpour to stop.

Today I sat in the garden and a little fat mouse which looked like a field mouse suddenly sat on my foot on top of my shoe I scooped it up and stroked it and put it under the shed. I could not have hurt it .The little thing was so cute. I know there may be a lot soon but thats me cannot hurt any animals or anything.

I am trying hard to get some photoes of Beryls weird get up but everytime the camera comes out she grabs me until I cannot take the picture but did take a picture of her yesterday she had on a silver track suit white wellie boots and a white baseball cap. her clothes are getting more weird every time I see Beryl.
Beryl keeps telling me my shoes are far too high and i should give them to her .
I do not expect to wear them too often maybe just when I go out in the evening;
Have some sensible flat shoes for the daytime.

My son came yesterday with a new girlfriend a very attractive girl called Rose but she never uttered one word I must have said "how are you" at least a dozen times and she just rudely shrugged. I said to my son where is the other girlfriend with the two little girls and he said she had decided to go back to her husband.
Lets say I hope he does not end up with Rose. My husband liked her he said women are more attractive when they do not say anything. So after he said that and wanted a coffee or something I just ignored him.

Frank

Frank Report 16 Aug 2012 15:40

Good on you Shelia,

I never found my girlfriends shy, and there were plenty of them, I would often bring them home on Sunday afternoons, and they were quite happy to chat to mum and dad.over tea and till I took them home.

Walking around with bare feet now !!! Old bath towels all around the carpets, trying to help with the drying, all doors and windows open, a nice breeze blowing through, so won't take long to dry to carpets. They look like NEW. Good old ROS. <3 <3 <3

Chicken Kiev with chips and beans tonight. Nice and easy, and will make a change from Roast. I get to the stage, that I don't know what to do for a change. I ask Ros what she fancy's and she always says what ever you want !!!!( to cook)

Heavy clouds around, but still a bit of sunshine.

I spoke to soon about the dog, It went on for 45 minutes this afternoon, It must be when she gets in, and lets it out. But not going on all day now ;-) ;-) ;-)

hi Just managed to read a few threads before my computor goes on the blink jumping all over the place and the letter I will stick into little form unless I belt it hard.I think sticky fingers have been on here a little lad called Clive was here yesterday doing some essay for school his laptop was busted he said. I said how come and he said I dropped it in the lavatory .it made me smile i bet his mum was not pleased. Funny place to put a laptop. But nothing surprises me these days.Beryl keeps crisp breads and jam in her bathroom so she can have a nibble in the bath.

Jane so sorry about the friends doggie dying poor little mite.
Poor Mocca having a bad foot in kennels. I wont use kennels not since i left
the kids fish with one and they forgot it was there and did not feed it .It survived on its own waste and believe me it was one stinky fish. I took our little dog also and it came back covered in fleas. Dogs cats and everything else was let out in one area. My friend said it was nice and I never inspected it. I am leaving Jasper with my husband he likes having him and although Jasper gets lonely and misses me he like his own surroundings and is company for my husband.

Kim your daughter sounds really bad but believe me I had the same with both my daughters at that age dont be too hard on her she may be crying out for your love and understanding underneath all that anger and so on. I justed waited patiently
and both mine improved later on. Maybe she feels your son is given too much praise and affection. If he his a sweet lad she maybe jealous. I find with kid of that age you can guide them but not tell them they find out the hard way. Do not worry so much .it must be awful being unwell though extra worry.

My mother in law is causing me trouble over Mat again she feels he should be brought up in Wales she does not care about April and she still writes me the most dreadful letters.

ANN did you go to the movies and see Andre . I was sorry to miss him. Les was playing his music to day in the celler bouncing around amongst the beer crates.
I loved the closing cermony of the olympic games the music was nice enjoyed George Michael. Not sure about the Spice girls better when younger I thought.
However offered a nice lively tone.

Maureen where did you holiday.
Well only two weeks before i go away and the weather does not seem to improve maybe I will be bobbing up and down on the sea after all. My friend said the boats to Ireland are well stablelised. I hope so my balance is not too good this week the weights coming off all that rowing but have a job to get up from that.

Beryl is like a rake or thinner. I worry shes not wasting away. i was there at her place one day and she cooked a whole packet of bacon and had four pieces of fried bread. Donnie came in and said Beryl old girl that will do your heart in and she said shut up metal guts you will do my heart in. I said why dont you two call a truce and try to get on and they both told me to shut up. They have a picture over the ingle nook fireplace and it says. Darby and Joan .This is our home two peopel in love. The picture is of them in a passionate clinch. Both clad in leather.
Donnies got spikes through his nose. Huge ones. I said Donnie what happened to those spikes they were very big. he said Oh Beryl got her hair stuck in one in a passionate moment and it nearly killed us both it pulled my nose and pulled a great big piece of her hair . Beryl said oh such passion though Don that metal was on fire. I am afraid at that stage I had to go home .I said to my hubby fancy having nose spikes he just looked disgusted at me what ? can you get that rubbish up by the door. oh well one can dream.

Well I will go and buy a mag and do the crossword and relax.
its is dead round here everyones disapeared.

Sheila Report 16 Aug 2012 15:58

oh FranK I bet you were smashing when young. Proberly picked better girls.
Your mum was lucky, But it was like that when I took my boyfriends home maybe they dislike coming in a half off licence come house. I do not know but I did struggle with her.

Chicken Kiev with chips is my favourite food .Lucky you.
We have some soggy looking pork pie and salad. my hubbies shopping today.
He said it was buy one get one free.

Do you do all the cooking.

Well have a nice day everyone its time to go and gets stuff out the dark
gloomy celler. had a good go because cannot get on this thing half the time.

Jane Report 16 Aug 2012 17:40

Sheila you do make me laugh with your wonderful descriptions of Beryl and her get ups lol and all her antics.Someone could make a great sitcom of her life with Donnie and all the things they get up to .It would make hilarious tv viewing :-D.We could do with some new comedy programmes

Frank ,I think shy girls would have run a mile from you :-DI bet you were a real charmer ;-)
I remember some of the boyfriends I took home :-S Most were fine and got on well with all the family ,but there were a few that makes me cringe now.I can see them now at the dinner table looking all sullen and stupid with their long shoulder length hair or longer.Mum and Dad trying their hardest to make them welcome and breathing a sigh of relief when they went. Then asking me what on earth I saw in 'that one' :-D
I did alright in the end though .Mind you Chris was pretty hard going at first as he was so quiet. He hasn't changed. :-S

I lost Chester just now.I'd only shut him in the garage with the machine and fans nearly blowing his ears off.He shot out when I opened the door :-D.I have brought his food bowl in the lounge now as well as his water as he wasn't eating his food.I think it is just too noisy for him in the kitchen.

Does anyone know if all these fans I have blowing will make the temperature in my 2 fridges drop? They both seem a lot colder.
I know the chap said that my fridges, freezer and washing machine will be checked at the end of the drying out time to see if they have been affected.I don't really understand it all :-S

I think my memory has gone to pot these last few weeks.I keep repeating things and forgetting things I've already said.'tis ridiculous :-| :-|.I'm just putting it down to all that is going on and that I'm not going the same way as Mum!!!! :-S :-D.

No sun here at all today ,but no rain(not in my garden anyway).Looks like the temp is going to be 30 at the weekend.....PHEW!.I think I might actually be pleased with all these fans then :-D

Evening All,

Oh Sheila, what a pair Beryl and Donnie are!! :-S My mind was bogling at what hair Donnie had got his nose spikes tangled in, but perhaps we'd better not go there!!!! :-0 Beryl can't seem to take her eyes off your high heels......I told you she was after them!! lol.

Frank you have my sympathy........I can't stand a lot of noise either! We have had a 'QUIET' day today, thank goodness. I am tempted to tape record it for a few hours and then play it back when she is trying to watch tv.....see how she likes it! lol. Turning into Mrs Grumpy aren't I! Lol. It does wear you down though. When she's had enough she can stop it, whereas we can't.

When we were in the C*-op today, I was sure the sales assistant called me MISS. lol. I was smiling as we walked out of the shop and thought OH hadn't heard. (well I can shout him in the next room and he reckons he can't hear!! ;-) ) As soon as we were outside he said, 'did she call you MISS?' I just grinned and he burst out laughing and kept saying 'MISS!!.... blimey!!'. Then I got a lot of sniggering and Dick Emery impressions......see what I have to put up with!! lol.

Mel, not cooking is very easy to get used to.....there are no withdrawal symptoms! I think it can get a bit wearisome when you have done it for umpteen years unless it is a passion. When I lived on my own I loved not having to interrupt what I was doing to cook dinner. Now I keep it simple or do it when I fancy! OH is used to it and very easygoing and is happy to sort himself out or hot something up I've cooked earlier .

Morning you sleepy heads,

Not nice here today as it is raining on and off.

We went into a big hotel last night to have a meal. All the tables overlooking the canal were marked reserved a nd we asked at the bar as BIL was ordering drinks. The italian barman said there qwere tables free and I walked right the way along and round the corner, nothing all taken or reserved. Then he opened a back room with many tables in it but no views and put us in there. We got our drinks at the bar and went and sat down. The next thing was the menu, about an average of £10.50 a meal, nothing oh fancied and Vic said he would have fish and chips. Chrissy could'nt decide and I chose Coachmans Chicken which was chicken stuffed with bacon and cheese and wrapped in parma ham with leek mash and veg. I did fancy that as it was something a bit different to what I make. Anyway a girl came in and siad there was a table just come free out the front and she would tell us when it had been cleared. We waited and waited and decided to go and eat somewhere nearer home. Just as we were getting up the girl came back and said the table was ready. We declined and told her we were eating somewhere nearer home and left. Ended up in the pub in Black Torrington just a couple of miles from home. I had lasagneand garlic bread with a side salad. Oh and BIL had black torrinton tower burgers and chips and chrissy had ???????????

Morning/evening all,

Very overcast and windy this morning.

Ros did a coloured wash earlier, now has the sheets and pillow cases, tea towels, hankies in the machine. Will try to out it out later no doubt. if it stays dry.

Yes Shelia, for all my sins, I do all the cooking in the household. Since my stroke I found this is one thing I can do, even though I loose my rag sometimes, when things don't go right. But in general I like it.

Roast lamb, new potatoes, Runner, Broard Beans, peas and carrots for dinner tonight. Just a small shoulder which is enough for the gtwo of us.

What surprise is our Jane getting from Mel. ?? Don't go out before the postman comes. Got me interested The old grey matter is turning over :-D :-D :-D

Have you heard the latest CHAT UP LINE. for an old Man. "Would you like to share a VIAGRA TABLET with me " :-0 :-0 :-0

All the carpets look great. and smell nice. We found a few blood spots under the table, by the skirting, where the old cat would lay. I think it was from his Teeth !!!!

Mel, I think these restaurants with nice views, like to show reserved on the front tables, so that people walking passed think, OH they must be busy. so the food will be fresh !!! And try to attempt people in. It happens at the Indian restaurant close to Stoke Bruerne. on the canal side. If you go in and request a canal side table, you usually get one. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
