Afternoon to you all, from one tired and Knackered old boy.!!

We set off from here about 9.45. Went down the back road to Toddington to pick Harvey up. Then the fun began, trying to find a diversion back to the M 1 that wasn't GRID LOCKED..

We finally arrived at Wembley at 11.50 am for 12 noon tour. What a fabulous place it is. We touired all over the place, I walked up 100s of steps. We went upto the Royal Box, Englands dressing room and treatment rooms, warm up rooms. The famous galleries, of all thew world teams, and players. In the England dressing room, all the shirts of the England players were on pegs around the room. Conrad took lots of pictures, as I FORGOT MY CAMERA. We have one, which I have a copy of, of the FOUR of us in front of the F A CUP at the Royal box. The tour took about one and a half hours.

We then set off to Central London, Picadilly Circus, SOHO. Regents St Oxford street. Trafalgar Squre (CANADA DAY YESTERDAY) Big party going on. We made our way through to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Houses of Parl, iment, Over Westminster Bridge, down the south side of the Thames. The EYE, on London Dridge. THE "SHARD" worth a look on Google. Then onto Tower bridge, over that, and saw the Olympic Rings hanging from the bridge. We made our way to the GHERKIN (I WORKED THERE) before it was bombed by the IRA. Can't believe the size of it. We then followed the old Road I use to Cycle to and from work, down throught Aldgate, Bethnal green, Mile End, STRATFORD (OLYMPIC STADIUM). onto Leytonstone, WOODFORD BRIDGE where I was born. and went down my old street. We stopped outside my old house, and the boys couldn't believe that a family of seven could live in such a small house.

We didn't have time to visit the church where a lot of the family are burried. Perhaps another day.

We drove down the old Southend Road, and picked up the M 25 and M 1. The bridge at Toddington had been demolished, and was piled up on the embankment of the Motorway. We got back to Harvey's by about 7.15 pm. When we got home Ros dropped me off at the Pub, for a couple of pints and watch the rest of the Final. Finished my day off to a treat.

A day I will remember for the rest of my life, With my Sons and LEWIS..

Sorry I have gone on so much, but I wanted to share my delight with you, MY FRIENDS.

Haven't had a lot of time to read all that went on with you yesterday, but trust you are all well, We were also very lucky with the weather, sunshine for most of the day.

Frank, I'm SO glad you had such a good day, I really envy you as I haven't been to London for years. My late uncle lived in Kentish town, and I used to go and stay with him about twice a year for a few days which I loved doing; we used to go up the river, museums, Kenwood House, local pubs (he was only 10 years older than me) the Tower of course, Imperial War, which I really loved, Greenwich, a real treat - happy days! I think younger folk simply can't understand how we used to live, and happily! Just a different world I guess!
A really miserable day here weatherwise, I should be cleaning that caravan prior to selling it, but can't seem to muster up any enthusiasm.

Thanks for sharing your day with us Frank, it certainly sounded like a memorable time, so glad you had a good time.

Sorry to all, I sent one of Frank's jokes out to you by mistake.

A dull day here, even duller indoors, doing HW :-P

Hope the docs goes well for you Kim, at least they monitor you and maybe pick up on things quickly. Good luck at the dental hospital David, the very word 'dentist' makes my tummy do sommersaults. I have found a really nice one I've seen for a few years, hope she doesn't decide to move on.

Frank, have sent you a PM

What a lovely time you had in London yesterday..I can just image the places you passed by..I bet the motorway looked different without that bridge now....

Hav'nt gone shopping after all. It is peeing with rain now and is a complete washout of a day. I have only been up the tunnel and watched the baby goldfish in the tank for about half an hour. Looked up the life cycle of Daphnia and read your posts.

Frank it sounds as though you had a really good time yesterday and enjoyed the whole day. Does Woodford Bridge look just hte same as it did?

What a yucky day.It makes everyone miserable I think :-S.We should all be enjoying nice sunny weather and spending time in the garden. It will get better ..it has too .It can't really get any worse surely.

Frank ,you certainly had a day to remember yesterday :-D :-D.Good to go back down old Memory Lane :-D.
My trip on Saturday will be very tame compared to your day.

Good visit to the dentist then Pat.It is a good feeling when they say nothing needs doing :-D
I wonder how David has got on at the Dental Hospital today.

Tomorrow the chap is coming with the leak detector thing so hopefully he will find out where the problem is coming from.
Fitz has been asked by the hospital if he is prepared to go and help feed his Mother at lunch time. Not sure he is too happy about that lol.I don't mind helping him out.I think it is dreadful that family have to be asked but the way things are in hospitals it is the only way some patients will get any food :-S :-S.It's disgraceful really.I know when Mum was in hospital Janice and I helped feed 3 patients

OMG James has just said he would like to put his trainers in my freezer!!!!! before he goes to Malta. It's to get rid of the pong :-S :-S :-S.Not sure I am too happy about his size 12s going in there lol.But I suppose if they are wrapped up well it should be ok.I will clear out the big bottom drawer

Liz you will get around to cleaning out the caravan when you feel like it lol

I'm just wondering where this chap will be poking his leak detector .Think I might have to have a bit of a dust clearing session around all the radiator pipes .I just don't want to get all het up about it.He will find what he finds and the is nought I can do :-D :-D

I do hope Fiona is alright. It does seem a while now since she posted.

Maureen

Maureen Report 2 Jul 2012 17:19

Does that work then Jane, I would imagine once the trainers have defrosted they would be even worse ..... :-0

Hospitals haven't improved in the last 6 years. We used to visit my dad in hospital and the old man next to him was blind. They would come around with lunch and just plonk his dinner on the thing that's at the bottom of the bed, how on earth was the poor man going to get that and feed himself. The only thing that has improved is the hygiene, the level of care isn't any better.

Maureen I have no idea. The only thing I can think is that Bacteria will be killed off by freezing. And i think it is bacteria that smells.I may be totally wrong here.I think I will have to google it and see.

Sounds like a brilliant day for you Frank. I bet OH would have liked the TOUR! Nice to share your memories and see the old familiar places too. Are you going to send us the pic of you all?

Glad all was well with your dental appointment Pat. I hate it when they pause and poke like they've found something. So good when they say rinse.

No problem Maureen, so easily done with emails isn't it.

Rain, rain, rain here too. OH went for his interview and managed to park ok and I went and got the shopping and called at the village garden centre and got 4 different hardy Fuschias, 60p each, and some eggs. The LARGE eggs there seem to get smaller these days, rattling in the box! OH rang to say his interview seemed to go well, they told him he'd prepared well, interviewed 6 for 2 jobs, so wait and see now.

When we got home things went downhill. Message from MIL to say someone had run into the side of their car, could OH ring ASAP. They weren't hurt at all, but hadn't a clue what to do, hadn't even looked at their motor insurance or notified them. OH has gone over to try and sort things, that's 3 times he's had to go there this last week. I bet they won't realise the insurance people won't talk to OH and FIL can't use the phone as MIL has never allowed him to! What will they think about him driving if he can't use a phone? MIL never thinks of any consequences though, just has to be 'in charge of everything'! :-S. Don't think OH is going to have time to do other jobs at this rate!! Moan over now! I'm off to see the exhibition this evening, that should cheer me up!

Still having trouble with viewing my tree permissions on my old tree and the new one. GR have said there is a problem with the new trees, but to use the old tree!! I had to tell them again it doesn't work on my old tree either. :-S

OH wanted me to go to Burton Latimer with him on Saturday, something footie related. It's right near to Jane..........but she is off to London I see......must have had a tip off!!! lol. :-D

A nice cuppa next I think...........then a plod around the estate.

Annx

Annx Report 2 Jul 2012 18:03

I've done that with my sandals Jane......it did work....for a while! Kills the bacteria like you say. They say to do it with childrens' soft toys too if they aren't washable or the dog's soft toys!!! Look out Chester, better do a stocktake!! lol.

I remember years ago at my previous house, we discovered that there was a 9 inch sewer that ran up the garden and under the garage to the mains on the road at the front. The solicitor didn't find it in his searches when we bought the house. :-S We wanted to put a brick garage over it, so had to comply with special procedures to protect it. We didn't know exactly where it went, but I remember the authorities saying at the time that they could come and track the course of it with their equipment if necessary without any digging, so I suppose they might be able to do that with your leak Jane. We didn't need them in the end as we did a base of mesh reinforced concrete that spread all the weight to the sides of the drive, well away from the pipe, but useful to know they could do this.

Mel, I can remember fishing for Daphnia in cattle troughs for my aquarium! I think they had to be treated with something first so the fish didn't catch anything but it's a bit hazy now!

Oh Ann!!!!! what a pity.Of all the days, that is the one I'm not here :-S.Sods law :-S
I seem to have lost track of many posts. Is this your Jewelery exhibition tonight?
I can't believe your FIL isn't allowed to use the phone!!!!.As you say the insurance people will only speak to the policy holder :-S

I'm looking forward to seeing the local news on the Olympic torch.I think they are reporting from Geddington.

Sounds as if you had a fantastic day Frank, some thing you'll remember for a long time , glad to hear you enjoyed it .

Jane i wash hubby's trainers in the washing machine ,he's a size 11 ,they do lump round a bit but it freshens them up a treat , another thing you could try is bicarbonate of soda ,just sprinkle it in and leave over night, shake it out the next day.

Ann, must have been a bit of a shock for your in laws getting run into ,thank goodness they weren't hurt ,but more sorting out for your OH to do though.

My nephew had his garden wall knocked down the other week by a paramedic car on a call out to the coast!!
It demolished the whole wall, also knocked a lamp post right over which in turn sent a whole load of gravel all over his car !!! it's full of dents now .
And this happened at two o'clock in the morning !!!!
