I was in T£esco when it kicked off Sounded like an air raid in the shop. When I left their car park was flooded.I'd to walk through water nearly a foot deep to get back to my car. Many water main iron covers and storm drain covers were lifted off with the flash flooding. The thunder and lightening continued for hours. There's a photograph in this morning's Journal showing forked lightening hitting the Tyne Bridge.

Years ago the council a point of regularly cleaning the grates so that they didn't become blocked.Good maintenance. You didn't get the drains flooding then.

Evening All,
Kim that would seriously FREAK ME OUT!! Yikes, a Python......how do you sleep, I don't think I'd ever dare leave a window or door open if I were you. I'd have to have mesh covering all openings. When I went in our caravan to the south of France I made velchro edged mesh squares to stick over the window openingsand the air vent as I knew we would want the windows open at night. Good job too when I saw the size of some of the 'winged' beasties flying around the lamps at night!!! I
The local papers are full of 'storm' pictures from yesterday. A local school had a tree come down too. OH said it was the worst conditions he had ever driven in. He said where side roads met the main road water was flowing from them like a river and people were outside their houses taking pics!
We went to MIL's this morning to finish putting the bark down. We would have got the bark put down in half the time if MIL and FIL had let us get on with it, but no, they were standing in OH's way as he was carrying the heavy sacks round and in front of the shed telling us where the rake etc were......when we knew they were in the same place as last week!! FIL went inside, but not MIL this time. She's lucky we didn't step back and knock her over the way she comes and stands right behind you. Then she has this silly laugh when she thinks you are getting stuck under the bushes or sees you struggling.......NOT want you want when you are trying to HELP them!! :-S Why she must stand and gawp beats me so my tongue felt quite bitten by the time we had done, but OH says he is sure they stand over workmen that come too. When she asked didn't I think the bark was better than having gravel I couldn't help but say it certainly was......for her son's back. Then afterwards it didn't help when they told us FIL had managed to get in and out of the bath again with difficulty this week. Having broken a vertebra in his back we told them last week that he could do more damage doing this and to get a showerhead mixer and stand in the bath or chuck jugs of water over himself to rinse off. Then he told us that when he got home yesterday, in order to be a bit closer to the front door and not get so wet he had climbed over the gearstick to the passenger seat to get out of the car!!!! Sometimes you may as well talk to yourself. :-|
Maureen, I tend to start sorting out with great enthusiasm, but lose interest before I have finished! :-0 It is a good feeling when things are more orderly and you have a clearout though.
Good that BIL's operation is done Mandy. I bet he will be a bit sore when the feeling comes back.

Sounds horrendous David. Was Ellen ok? I hate it when I'm on my own, prefer to be in the car. It must have been horrid paddling through water that deep as well.

I don't have problems with rats coming up our loo but I do get slugs up the tiles in the bathroom!! Had one the other day so I popped him down the loo and flushed it. What I want to know is how do they get in the bathroom in the first place? They must come up the old shower pipe the same as the mice who leave me little presents behind the loo on the wooden shelf behing it.

I think it is Mel......it's the tyres isn't it. I think hearing a thunderbolt drop in a hedge across the lane about 40 feet away from where I lived when aged about 6 put me off storms!! We keep our mice in the loft......plenty of woodlice find their way in though. I thought when we got rid of most carpets they would go but they haven't.:-S

LOL Ann Woodlice or Chuggy pigs as I call them love my house.I often have to a big sweep up as there can be so many. Liz my Sister was only saying to me tonight that she lifted up her up and over garage door and a big Toad fell off and landed on her back!!!!.She said it was a big as her fist :-S.It then fell off her back onto the ground. She picked it up :-0 and checked over to make sure it hadn't injured itself and then put it somewhere safe.
David that must have been pretty scary.I really do not like storms like that.I can't believe how lucky we have been here to escape all the horrendous weather. The wind has been the worst we have had,
I cannot stay up a moment longer.Just going to rub some Voltarol Pain Gel into my hip and shoulder before I go to bed.Hopefully that might help tonight. I am yawning my head off here and just can't stop so will say Night Night. Did anyone see the Federa tennis match???? BRILLIANT :-D

Can someone tell me how you can see the complete list of trees you have access to view when you are using the new tree? When you click on 'Change' to view another tree, on the Tree Dashboard that then shows I seem to only have a list of trees from A-H but I know I have a lot more and certainly an 'M'. It is no good using the drop down list on the old tree as whatever tree you click on it just reverts to your own tree. I think they must have disabled it.

Hello all,
Warmer here today and washing dry.
Python has now gone, was still there this morning and then moved off somewhere, hopefully across the other side of the bush. They are harmless, but I would not like to have it wrapped around my neck. I think if the cats had taken it on they would have come off second best. Will get some photos sorted to send to you all.
It is only the 3rd snake I have seen in 14 years of living here. We get plenty of spiders and the nasties get killed and the others swept out the door. Outside loos are a problem and you have to check under seats, etc. in bush areas. I have only ever seen one funnel web, but they are in our area. I keep out of the bush, but really it's not that bad over here. Mind you I would not like to be living in Central Australia with all the snakes, scorpions and things that exist there or come across a blue-ringed octopuss in tropical waters.
We have a lot of redbacks around our house, so you just have to think twice about where you put your fingers, they like to hide under the pipes and around the pool pump and the rims of large pot plants. My pet hate is coachroaches and wasps.
Frank I have worn my scarf a couple of times to the doctor's and get lovely comments and enquiries as to where I bought it, so that is a quite a recommendation for Ros's handywork.
Well off to have my dinner - pork medallions tonight. Enjoy your weekend. 6.11 pm AEST

Brighter day today with some sunshine which we hav'nt seen for well over a week. Big white fluffy clouds in the sky but not a great deal of blue.
Woke up at q quarter to six and went back to bed and did'nt wake oh as he was still snoring. The next thing I knew it was quarter to ten!!
Kim so glad your snake has gone. But where has it gone????????? think I would rather it had been in the same tree.
Oh off to ring for two wedding today so I shan't see him for quite a while.

We were so lucky round here yesterday, Windy and blustery, but no rain or hail, We missed the lot, There will be a few insurance claims for car damage around the country from the HAIL STORMS.
Trust you are all kepping well, and no more accidents with water pipes etc.

Jane... I hope you get all yor water problems (leaks) sorted out.
David that storm sounded bad you had..
When we had cat she kept catching baby rats..To cut a long story short w had to dig our patio up in places by the drain..There was a nest there and a cracked pipe had to be replaced..We thought it was the main sewer at first had the council come with their underground cameras to check the main sewer.....but that was ok...
I have my son comming for a visit from kent soon...so have been busy putting the cleaner round..I have been trying to do the bedrooms for days but kept getting sidetracked lol.
