I see in Torquay beach huts have been washed away , so its been rough down there !! poor Frank, he'll have some stories to tell when he gets back.
I thought he said he will be away for eight days Jane.

Oh dear lets hope the weathers better for your sisters trip on the water on Sunday !! i think they'll all be below decks ,except the one who's steering , don't they standing out at the back ? :-S :-S and that sounds as if it's poor Janice :-S :-S

Still raining here i don't think its stopped all day ,winds still strong too.

All problems resolved with builder! whew, that's a relief, the last thing we both wanted was another dispute!! Son came over on Tuesday and gave us a hand with putting in the kitchen, which looks brilliant; It's really nice to see more of him as when we were in Somerset we only saw himonce in a blue moon, and nearly lost touch;so much better being closer. Met Laura in Swindon yesterday - she is convinced that we need completely new EVERYTHING! No!, I think I'll be the judge of that! Was lovely to see her and the young ones - and, though I say it myself, what lovely children they are, and WELL mannered. The weather is quite AWFUL,feel so sorry for Frank on his hols - still a change can do you good, so let's hope so. So glad your sister is feeling better Jane, what a long road it's been for her. Hope everyone else is OK - and thanks for the various piccys that have been sent - love the cat! Crock-pot supper tonight, easy and not too much washing up! should have my dishwasher back any day now, can't wait!

Evening All,

What a miserable blustery day! We went out for lunch and then to see FIL and MIL. Not surprising really, there seems to be an about turn on the suggestion of making their garden easier to do!! FIL said the main problem had been lifting the mower out of that box it came in ......the one he made a fuss about when OH wanted to chuck the box out!! We think they are a bit silly, far better to sort a few things out for them in the garden while WE are still able than there be a crisis later, but what can you do. FIL has actually made his back a bit worse again just getting in the bath, but any mention of having a shower falls on deaf ears. :-S The nurse has said MIL's BP is sky high, but it will be 3 weeks before she sees a doctor as she will only see a particular one. We have seen paperwork that actually states she has Interstitial Cystitis (her bladder problem) but she has set her mind that the slight prolapse she has is causing all the problems even though the doctor said it was too slight to cause a problem. So she has cancelled several of her weekly bladder treatments because she thinks they are a waste of time and is going to tell the doctor she needs an operation for her slight prolapse!! I keep biting my tongue but it is all so frustrating.......I'll be old before my time at this rate!! :-S

We were looking at the pets in the garden centre near where we had lunch and there was a cage of young black and white rats. I put my finger about an inch away from the bars to attract one and the little blighter, because he was small, quick as a flash, managed to squeeze his pointy nose right through and nip me and draw blood!! I washed it straightaway and put antiseptic on when I got home, but I bet the pet shop people must get a few nips from them.

Maureen, I can just imagine you lobbing stones after that cat........can't risk him harming Alfie though. Hopefully you are back home now having a good sleep.

Mandy I'm glad the puss has a bell on so the birds get a warning. The other new cat looks like a littermate, but has a white bib and paws, also a bell!! (I think they both live at the same house). As long as they leave the birds alone and don't leave any calling cards they are welcome.

Shirl I love the shawl pattern and colours and yours toms are doing well up to now. Shame about your tree though.

Mel I saw on the news that you were to get gales and pictures of the sea at Torquay didn't look good!! Will the Ash tree branch be big enough for some wood turning?

My glue gun arrived this morning with lots of sticks of glue so I'm going to plug it in and do some glueing now. I hope I don't get it all over the place....better put some newspaper down. :-D

Annx Report 8 Jun 2012 21:18

They are on the way Jane! :-D

I love the Starlings Shirl. A few years ago we used to have huge roosts of them in the city park and we would see them making these patterns in the sky from our 5th floor office. Then they became such nuisances with all the mess on the paths in the park that the council put bird scarers in to stop them roosting there. We don't see many in the gardens around here either now.

Oh, just spotted your post Liz. How lovely to be really getting straight now. It is good that things are working well with the family and brilliant to have well mannered grandchildren........Laura has obviously done well with that.......not surprised she was expecting all 'new' though!! lol.

Thanks Ann! As you say, Laura's attitude to my old furniiture is hardly surprising! I know that my curtains make her despair!! Mark, as a bloke, is SO much easier on that front, his attitude is 'What's wrong with what you've got!'!! So long as things are functional that's OK with him! Anyhow, as he said, my fixtures and fittings are nothing to do with either of them! which is True!! Yes, Laura has done, and is doing, a good job with her three, mind youu she is fierce with them, a bit too much I sometimes think, BUT, not my business, so any thoughts I have, I keep firmly to myself!!! Today it is better weatherwise, so, washing is going out, hopefully it'll not get blown away - Duvet cover can act like a sail, so will have to keep an eye!

Morning All and Evening Kim,

Sun's out today but still a bit breezy. Guess what oh is doing???
Yes he is cutting the grass!

I had a lay on the bed yesterday afternoon, very strange for me. I fell asleep !!!!! even stranger......................... when I awoke oh was not there as he talked about going to Barnstaple to get HD boxes for both tellies as with the wind the pictures kept breaking up and it was annoying him so much. So now we have no interferance and he can see more channels on the bedroom telly as that did'nt pick up many programs before even though it was on the satilite ariel.

I think I have at last caught up with your posts over the last week.

I must go up and water the tunnel today as I hav'nt been up there for two days! I hope it is still there.............as I hav'nt even looked to see if there is any damage up there. Oh said he walked all round after the gales and everything else was alright.

Ann the branch off the ash tree is not really big enough to do any turning with but you can bet your bottom dollar that if it is he will keep it.

Hope Janice gets on ok with steering the long boat Jane as you have to push the tiller a different way to which you want to go and if she dos'nt know her left from her right she may have probs at first. Hope the weather is kind to her and she can manage to get on and off the boat ok. Good too that she is feeling better and able to get out and about a bit more.

Afternoon all.

Had a lovely surprise when I got in from work....Alan said he had a text from our youngest son to say he was popping down for a few hours..They also went to visit freinds in the evening so left the 2 girls here for a few hours as well.I was shattered after they left..My granddaughters always want me to play with them..We were playing dominoes and draughts...I taught them how to play that game when they were last down here. But we had to make do with the chess set and put stickers on the peices when they became doubles...Then they had all my teddies out an d where playing schools..
They are so different from my other grandchildrern who seem to amuse themselves..But it is lovely tho...They were even wrapping mocha up as a dolly lol..
I will catch up with the threads later. We are off to my brothers to try and sort something out on his PC..I will take my book...I need to finish it.. byeee

Its warmish here, but dull sun tries to come out now and again.
Been looking at kitchens this morning we will need to sort out what we want so it can be ordered when the new extension is done, the extension will be the breakfast area(table & chairs) and will be connected by a walk way through to the kitchen, we have never renewed the kitchen since we have been living here since 1989, and it was an old kitchen then,

Managed to get some plastic sand toys this morning for Sofia, the next door neighbour gave me some old metal ones belonging to his grandchildren(there too big to play with sand now) but they have gone all rusty, only good for digging in the garden.

Suns out , think I will go and maybe get a sit out, time for a cuppa.

I'm sure Frank will have found some nice pubs to rest in while the rain hammers down.

Not feeling too bad today bit like I've been punched in the stomach. I asked the nurse why it was I have had good colonoscopies and bad ones, she said some doctors have a better technique, all I can say is this one didn't have a very good technique, still it's all over with now for at least a year.

Janice is very brave Jane to steer the boat I'd probably end up on the bank if they left me to it, hope the weather is okay for her.

You need the patience of a saint sometimes Ann with the old folk, they get so set in their ways, remind me in another 20 years I said that

Have bought some new shoes for the wedding but the right foot is pinching at the toes so I'm walking around the house with them on, must see how I can stretch them.

Don't Panic Mr Mannering :-D :-D.I'm here.Just been busy doing things outside.Chris has put up 2 lovely hanging baskets on the front of the house.I had a good old moan saying we never have them in the front garden,so it paid off and they look great :-D :-D.I cut back a lot of stuff that was growing out over the path at the side ,so now we don't have to brush past it.
It is difficult knowing what to do that is quiet as James is sleeping.Chris has been waiting to cut the lawn.I think he will be safe to do it soon as James said he will be up a 4.

I love that shawl and mask Shirl. What part of Venice did your Monster go to?

Haven't looked through todays posts yet.But will do later.
