for some of us - the sun is a bad thing! glad you are all happy though!

TheBlackKnight

TheBlackKnight Report 23 May 2010 17:53

I'm too well aware of that NWM but it's more pleasant to look out at sunshine even if you can't go out in it for whatever reason?

The Night Watchman

The Night Watchman Report 23 May 2010 17:55

that wasn't meant to be a bad comment Ron! for some even the sunlight is dangerous!

The Night Watchman

The Night Watchman Report 23 May 2010 17:58

some also find it more pleasant to look at at the rain!

TheBlackKnight

TheBlackKnight Report 23 May 2010 18:06

I didn't take it as a bad comment, there's a person near where I live who can't go out in the sun at all and has to wear dark glasses most of the time,it is incredibly sad.
My fiancee prefers rain :)

The Night Watchman

The Night Watchman Report 23 May 2010 18:11

yes it is sad! the person in my mind the sun can trigger her epilepsy!

TheBlackKnight

TheBlackKnight Report 23 May 2010 18:17

I've heard that-especially if you're travelling in a car through trees, the flickering is a trigger. It is a very misunderstood "invisible" illness and I always think it's a shame most people don't understand it until they come into contact with it,as with so many of the other "invisible illnesses such as OCD,FM,CFS,MS,DDD there are so many.

The Night Watchman

The Night Watchman Report 23 May 2010 18:21

yes with a lot of those things people get over looked! more awareness needs to be made of them! education is everything!

TheBlackKnight

TheBlackKnight Report 23 May 2010 18:42

I could'nt agree more.
Worse still the "Pretenders" as if they had the faintest idea what these chronic conditions are really like, they would be horrified if they truely suffered.
There are for instance "bad backs" and "BAD BACKS"

ஐ+*¨^¨*+e+*¨^¨*+ஐ Mildred Honkinbottom Report 23 May 2010 19:22

Some people genuinely have bad backs

Its a shame that because some people are using that as an excuse to get out of work, genuine cases are often treated with disbelief.

My neighbour was in hospital for almost 3 weeks due to a back / nerve problem which put her on very strong painkillers. This was about 3 years ago. She now works where I do, and a month or 2 ago she was off for a few days as her back gave her gyp. (thankfully it never went down the same route as before)

I did hear a few other workmates snigger & pull faces when they heard she was off work and why.

She was genuine, but sadly because of back illness stigma was subject to behind her back unkind gossip. (which I ignored & walked away from)

Its unfair to tar all with the same brush

Mildred that is awful! I do hope your friends get the understanding she deserves! Ron I have to admit that I disagree about the "bad backs" thing - sure some use it as an excuse but there are varying degreesof bad backs!
