Thanks Allan for the link. Really enjoyed watching it again.

I too liked the Skoda out of cake ad. Also the other car ad with the chain reaction and the car drives away at the end. Have no idea which car it was advertising but thought the ad was very clever

A finger of fudge is just enough to give your kids a treat
a finger of fudge is just enough until its time to each
its full of cadbury goodness
and very small and neat
A finger of fudge is just enough to give your kids a treat.

I hated the fudge but like the ad

I liked the Bisto ads.

The DFS one is one long ad

I like that Hovis one, too - it's the kind of thing I bet all the advertising companies must wish they'd come up with first.

I used to like the Weetabix adverts from when I was little, too. One that always stuck in my mind was the Roundheads and Cavaliers one where a couple of Roundheads are waiting for the battle to start, Charles I comes along on his horse, says, "Sorry about the delay but my men won't budge until they've have their Weetabix" and the Roundheads run away up the hill in terror.

The public information films were a little bit scary when I was young. Sis and I loved the learn to swim one with Mike who swims like a fish and he was strong and got the girl. We used to laugh at that one.

Charlie the cartoon cat who gave out advice was scary:)

Oh I remember those Cinzano ads, they were great!

Anyone remember the Cointreau ads? Sexy French man would pour a drink for the cool English woman, telling her about the warm french cointreau managing to melt the cool English ice!! Summat like that anyway!

But what about the Gold Blend coffee campaign which ran for several years with the romance of Sharon Maughan and Anthony Head. Now that WAS a long running love story! Did they end up together in the end, I can't remember!

I always liked the old Smirnoff ads you'd see in the glossy magazines. There was a series of them, all with a catchy caption following a theme.

It would be a photo of a good looking man or woman in a situation completely alien to their usual 'boring' environment. I remember one where the photo was a woman, dark eyed, hair loose with wild abandon, and she was rowing a small boat out in the middle of the sea with a trendy painted lighthouse in the background. The caption read something like 'Her home was 23 Acacia Avenue until she discovered Smirnoff'.

Another one in the campaign was a photo of a young good looking guy - tanned, shaggy sun-bleached hair, loosely rolled up trousers and shirt out, he was walking bare foot down a Spanish street like he had not a care in the world. The caption read 'Mr Hains was the mainstay of the public library until he discovered Smirnoff".
