I taped Holby City last night (or thought I did:) but it appears to have been cancelled due to the Prime minister thing. Can anyone tell me please whether they mentioned when the intended episode would be screened as the Radio Times web page still has the following episode listed for next Tuesday.

Christine2, I was rather irked by this, also. I was all set to watch it,but of course it was cancelled. I wonder what the BBC would have done if a 'very important football match' had been scheduled for the same time slot.
However, I have not seen when this episode is going to be shown, because, next week, it is a two parter, over Tuesday and Wednesday night.
Seems ordinary viewers don't matter to the Beeb.

Thank you Julia and Kathleen. I wouldn't have minded if they had announced at some point during my recording when it would be shown.
Did you watch it live Kathleen and if so, what time was it on please?

If all else fails I suppose I shall have to watch it on iPlayer but I prefer not to really. Before BT upgraded our line we couldn't have watched it on there anyway as it used to keep stopping every few seconds.

No, we didn't watch it live. Like you we expected it to be recorded, but all we got was the political stuff. It was on iPlayer just after the time the programme was due to finish (if it has actually been shown). I didn't see any announcement that it wouldn't be on so not sure how they will let people catch up.

We can watch iPlayer on the tv, but if not just go to www.bbc.co.uk and you will find iPlayer on there. Programmes are on there for different lengths of time but some are on for up to a month.

I agree with Julia though, I do think it's bad if they are just going to miss out an episode unless you watch it on iPlayer. There are probably loads of people like we used to be whose internet isn't fast enough to watch it.

I think that now most people have 24 hour news channels that there is no need to disrupt ordinary programmes on the other channels. It's not that I'm not interested in politics - I am - but I want to be able to watch other things as well.

I agree with you Island too. I think ITV managed to squeeze in their programmes, not sure though.

There was so much coverage on the BBC last night about the events, aerial shots of the silver Jag taking Cameron to the palace, interview from commentator to 'studio guest' , ascertaining that it was a silver Jag, it was endless and inane, and very cringeworthy.
Now, I do not mean this disrespectfully, but anyone just turning on the TV, would be forgiven for thinking something had happened to the Queen.
As usuall, the Beeb, over-egged the pudding. And it was mine and everybody else's money they were using, to do so.

Phewwww - it wasn't easy to find but I finally found this under FAQ's on the TV section of the BBC homepage.

Why did the BBC One schedule for 11 May 2010 change?
In order to provide coverage of Gordon Brown's resignation and David Cameron's succession as Prime Minister, it was necessary to make some changes to the BBC One evening schedule. These were as follows:

19.18: BBC News Special

21.00: Luther (As billed)

Please note that EastEnders and Holby City were dropped from the schedule. EastEnders will now be broadcast at 19.30 on BBC One on 12 May 2010. A date of broadcast for Holby City is still to be confirmed.

I have just e-mailed the BBC and asked them HOW, if they haven't decided yet when they are going to reschedule Holby City, I can be sure not to miss the programme unless I sit watching the BBC1 24 hours a day.

It took ages to get to the actual message box and when I did I was only allowed a certain number of characters. I ended up having to use abbreviated speech but I think I managed to get my point across. Then, after I had sent it, a box came up advising me that they can't answer everything but if they can answer my query they will get back to me. How rude is that - I may not even get an acknowledgment saying that they don't know !!

I don't think they really care if we miss it or not Christine.

And while I am still upset about it may I just remind you all... this is just the beginning.
Wait until the Olympics, the foot ball, the tennis, and anything else in the pipeline, to start!

I would not have minded so much, but there is a NEWS STATION on all the time. There was no need to cut any programmes.

Ah well, who is going to listen to the likes of ME?

I agree with all that has been said, and you are quite right Deanna, with forthcoming events. Why did this programme get shelved, just so they could show aerial views of a car taking Cameron to see the Queen. It beggars belief. At least when the future sporting events are going to be shown, Urgggggh, we are prewarned with the proscribed published schedules, eg Daily Paper, Radio Times. That is, until the football goes into extra time, etc.

You're right Dianna,they don't care.
I wouldn't have minded if they had immediately rescheduled and made sure that the new day/time was made clear. What annoys me the most is that we could all miss it when it is shown if we don't happen to notice when it's on.
At least we shall know in advance when it's sport as Julia says. Or a warning given that programmes may change if something overuns.

I have just heard on bbc tv they are playing holby city at 8.00 tonight.

I too missed my usual Eastenders and Holby......and I'm not a happy bunny! lol.

Proof if ever it was needed that politicians are out of touch with us mere mortals!! Gordon Brown had ALL DAY to resign....so what time did he decide to do it??......yes, while we all wanted to watch our favourite programmes! :-))
