Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 11 May 2010 17:39

wish they would just wait and tell us when it's really decided! All programmes on itv changed so we can have an hour of waffle and perhaps this and maybe that!

Seems Gordon's luggage is already going out the backdoor of No 10 and we are to get a LibDemCon government lol

I have to say I can't stand David Cameron, he is more smarmy than Tony Blair, so am not sure what to expect with things now, more and more I am wishing i had a desert island to escape to!

Deanna Report 11 May 2010 17:47

Tony phoned me about 3o minutes ago to tell me that Liz....
I quite agree with you.
I cannot stand him either.
Who in this world born with a silver spoon in his mouth leading to a private education, can understand any of our fears??
AND.... I knew before they told us that this was going to happen. I watched Clegg 'strutting' down the path earlier...
God bless him, It may even blow up in his face.... or OURS. We don't know what was promised or even discussed.
Ah well, lets see what happens now.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 11 May 2010 17:57

Joan, I would have thought so, re the Queen being told. The reporter said the Queen is changing her Prime Minister, fgs, she has no say in it lol. They should rephrase that and say the Queen has to be told her PM has changed!!!
Can you imagine having to pack up and leave so quickly, I suppose they have been packing stuff already probably knowing what would happen.

Deanna, when you said Tony rang you I thought for a mo you meant Tony Blair lolol Thought you had friends in high places lol

I don't hold out a lot of hope for anything better than we already had and look at all the money it's cost to hold these elections. I suppose it means another evening or more of waffle and such.

I just want things back to normal, am fed up trying to make head or tail of the news and such - just tell us when it's done!

It's about time the thousand of election posters are taken down.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 11 May 2010 18:16

I agree Dermot, and I was so cross with the amount of paperwork that came through the door, lots of it duplicated or written on one side of the page only. What a waste!

Jane Report 11 May 2010 18:22

Dermot ,I haven't seen any posters at all, and we only had one leaflet through our door leading up to the election. That was the Conservatives.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 11 May 2010 18:24

I wonder too about all the things that were going on in government before the elections, did everything just freeze waiting for the situation to be sorted out? Does Gordon just wipe his hands of anything he was negotiating or dealing with? Is Gt Britain frozen in time till the new government starts work, and does the new PM just scrap everything that Gordon started and begin again? I am truly not looking forward to Cameron being in charge, he doesn't care about pensioners and such so I hope the LibDems will fight for oap causes.

Oh well, another one bites the dust!

I thought his speech was good, if a little sad, and it was lovely to see his children too, such a shame his daughter wasn't with them, too, poor little girl.

Not looking forward to Cameron coming on board.

TootyFruity Report 11 May 2010 19:49

Why can't we have a cabinet made up of all parties. A true coalition. Everyone will then hopefully be represented and then policies for the good of the country can be made and acted on.

I dread David Cameron being PM. He will never understand the concerns of us ordinary people because he has never walked a mile in our shoes. His parents never have to worry about heat or eat. He never has to worry about waiting on an NHS waiting list for treatment or trying to find one of that almost extinct professional, the NHS dentist.

As for the expenses I will never understand why when tax payers paid mortgages etc..... Why these never became assets of the nation

InspectorGreenPen

InspectorGreenPen Report 11 May 2010 20:02

I seem to recall that NHS dentists disappeared under Labour. So much for looking after 'ordinary people' in 13 years of wasted government.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 11 May 2010 20:07

Hi Barbara

that's what I am concerned about too, he doesn't know how the real people live or even just exist. What empathy will he have with pensioners struggling to eat or heat? And he will push his 'marriage is best' views onto anything he can, so penalising those who chose to live together without marriage or those who maybe cannot marry, some Catholics have partners who won't divorce perhaps or other reasons.

It would have been a lot better to have some of each party involved so there was a more balanced view and maybe also it would have stopped all the time spent slagging each other off instead of dealing with real issues, as that's what seems to happen a lot of the time!

Oh well, it'll be a waiting game for us all to see how it affects us.
Heaven help us, cos the policitians don't/won't!

David Cameron has never held a ministerial post, has he? He comes very untrained so to speak.
Wonder how things will go when his wife goes into labour lol, will he take paternity leave? Not the best time to have a new baby on the way for that family, perhaps.

Cooper

Cooper Report 11 May 2010 20:15

Many MPs from all parties have had selective and private education at school and then on to top universities and many went in to jobs far removed from the ordinary "man/woman in the street, before they went into politics

The health/education/armed forces/transport etc are led by ministers who dont have a clue what happens in those professions and have never worked in those areas.

This would never happen in other jobs/professions

So really none of them are able to understand what the public are going through on a day to day basis

Expenses are another issue and many as we know feathered their own nests.

There are good and not so good mps in all parties

TootyFruity Report 11 May 2010 20:22

NHS dentists started to disappear under the last Tory government. Labour failed when it overturned this contact and put in place an even worse one granted. Tories are not the answer I think a cabinet with representation from all parties a true coalition is the way to go then hopefully the best from all parties can make this country a better place

Dear All

Hello

Hope you are keeping well.

I am normally a peaceful person.......but I cannot stand David Cameron.

He has no experience of politics whatsoever and its his money that got him through.

Rant over!

Take care
Very best wishes

Whats wrong with means testing so long as its done in a sensible way and the money goes to those who really need it.

Whats the point of a wealthy person getting a heating allowance. They dont need it.
Give more to those that do
