Actually she isn't a baby she is about 8 years old

Yes I was on the boards after but she was sat by me,

Yes I was worried, but what could I or you do ?

I am worried to hell about the fit as I reconize it from my old lab, but I stayed and played on here.

why ....you kept me sane till the danger passed
you made me laugh when I wanted to cry for my dog
Thanks Taela lol for the laughs

Don't think because I was on here I negleted my duty to my dog.
I didn't as many others don't to their children.

What you see on here isn't what you see at home,

Think before you shout

Who shouted, Uzzi? Considering the number of times you mention your dogs I would've thought it was obvious how much you care for them.

Actually nobody shouted cosI didn't say instead I chose to play on the boards

Aww You made me proud saying that anyone who knows me knows how I care for them

Uzzi...........I hope you dog is ok now . A friend of mine has one ( bless her she is 15 now ) and she has had fits off and on for years . You did the right thing by keeping yourself as calm as possible , being normal and not making it obvious that you where " fixed " on your pet whilst it was going on .
I hope it doesn't happen again x

UzziAndHerDogs Report 30 Apr 2010 22:53

Muffy this is the 2nd she has had .. I can and will cope with them but Mini had her fit and the pup went for her so I had to split a one sided fight up, along with a fit, then the pup wants to say sorry yeah right bog of says baby .

I fear for my baby as she is getting old

but thats life

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 30 Apr 2010 22:54

UzziAndHerDogs

UzziAndHerDogs Report 30 Apr 2010 22:59

As most of you know my 2 dogs will fight , what you don't know is how I fret I physically am ill, so tonight I tucked the babe in and came on here,
loved it been great and I am sure the dogs have been helped from it ( get down Minx lol) they reactto calm as humans do

dont give her nothing to eat or drink till tomorrow hun
cover her with a blanket and turn off the lights
while she is having a fit talk gently to her
reasuring her you are there

if she has more than say three in one night call the vet for advice
it will cost you nothing if you are just asking advice

UzziAndHerDogs Report 30 Apr 2010 23:01

Muffy I am not worried on the fits there is a 2 yr gap but both in summer months ( mini did get over heated I like to think)

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 30 Apr 2010 23:03

That's good news hon. It's when it goes into weeks or days between you have to really worry.

Doesn't stop it being an awful thing to witness though.

(((hugs))) to you both xx

UzziAndHerDogs Report 30 Apr 2010 23:04

Joy I hope I don't ever have to go down that line again I did that with my 17yr old lab and vowed never ever again

with Min I hope it's a heat thing ( but we ain't reached summer)

UzziAndHerDogs

UzziAndHerDogs Report 30 Apr 2010 23:07

UzziAndHerDogs

UzziAndHerDogs Report 30 Apr 2010 23:11

Muffy I watched my lab having fits her 1st was at 12yrs old and very few at 17 when she had 2 in 1 day it was time to say goodbye (plus the second paralized part of her) .
I am not ready to let Min go nor is she.

UzziAndHerDogs Report 30 Apr 2010 23:16

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 30 Apr 2010 23:19

Kindest thing to do when they're that close together hon.

but your girl is miles away from that by the sounds.

Isn't nice situation to be in...when you consider your canine babies to be family...like we do here.

Hopefully it'll be just as long between fits next time too...or preferably no more at all x

Sorry, meant to send that by pm, but thanks for your response, Uzzi.

UzziAndHerDogs

UzziAndHerDogs Report 30 Apr 2010 23:36

Joy she needed to drink part of the problem is her not daring to go to the bowls

That may be a problem they both drink water at the same bowls but not at the same time so Min may miss out

Uzzi, think I have the gist of the conversation.

Please tell me (1) if your dog eats grass and (2) if the grass has been sprayed with weedicide or any chemicals in the last few days/weeks.

We had a labrador who used to have fits, no apparent reason until we linked it to him eating grass sprayed with weed killer.

Might not be in your case, and you may not have done the spraying, could have been the council etc. But check it out. We do not put any kind of chemicals on our weed where our dogs might eat the grass.
