Unfortunately,It's the same story all across the U.K.

That is far more than me and my husband earn and keep a family without any benefits ever!!!!

What on earth is going on in the UK.......?

Rambling Report 16 Apr 2010 11:38

No Cassidy, thats a gross exageration...these cases are appalling but they are the extreme situation which is why they make the press, most people on benefits live very much a hand to mouth existence.

This couple are irresponsible in the extreme and personally i would insist that if any more children are born to them then they should not recieve child benefit...in fact I would allow child benefit at the full rate for only the first two children of any marriage/ partnership ...but a free supply of condoms thereafter lol. I would also make sure that both parents 'earn' their benefits in this case by the husband doing community work at least 30 hours a week.

Suzanne Report 16 Apr 2010 11:43

much more than myself and my husband earn as well, ive worked full time for the n.h.s for 20yrs,m husband has worked full time for 30yrs,and all of our four children work full time,we also live on anglesey but all my children still live at home because they cant afford to rent private.i cant moan for a bigger house because i own my home.

Sharron

Sharron Report 16 Apr 2010 13:19

Just a little bleat for us carers. We don't even qualify for free prescriptions and are only allowed to earn about one hundred pounds a week or we lose what we do get which is about fifty-three.

Rambling

Rambling Report 16 Apr 2010 13:39

Carers have the hardest deal, both physically mentally and financially Sharron, been there. It is shameful how little recognition the work of carers gets and especially considering the amount of money they save the government ( tax payer) looking after those who would otherwise cost hundreds of pounds a week to care for.

yes it is a 'choice' , and no choice as it were ... but you give up the security you would have earnt for yourself often, and find your own health and finances left in a poor state accordingly.

Who cares for the carers.

In my opinion this man and his wife have absolutely no respect for themselves, their children or anyone else. It is disgusting that he actually admits giving up work specifically to go on benefits and the very fact that he gave up a full time job should exempt him from benefits. But they obviously know how to work the system. I agree that child benefit should be capped. This couple should be told that they are not to have more children until one of them gets a job. But they wont be because that will infringe their human rights. Nobody ever thinks of the human rights of we tax payers who have to pay for their greed.

And what is worse, all these children they are breeding are going to grow up with the same ideas....viz... The state owes them a living.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 16 Apr 2010 15:19

I might add to my post that the system is at fault if somebody can get more on benefits than they can from working.

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 16 Apr 2010 16:00

this is why this country is the laughing stock of the world..anyone can come here and get benefits..the working man is worst off of all.we have to pay for eveything out of our wages no freebies for us,when everything is paid there is not much left. thats why this story made me see red.gloating and getting hard working peoples backs up.it has to be stopped.

Rambling

Rambling Report 16 Apr 2010 16:07

Point being Suzanne that most of the people who 'come here' don't want to be on benefits and they take low paid work accordingly ...this family didn't come here ...won't take any work that falls below what they are getting in benefits and are breeding like rabbits.

I would rather have one immigrant prepared to work hard in order to live in Britain...than one 'Brit' who is an idle, irresponsible sponger.

I just read this story online. There is a picture of what looks like a perfectly healthy couple and their children but they claim 119.00 pounds for disability allowance

The son has a skin disease apparently...if it is something like psoriasis/severe eczema it won't 'show' in a photo necessarily but nevertheless can be very debilitating and need a lot of care. It isn't easy to qualify for disability/carers allowance and needs medical reports so I would say that is genuine.

I am not giving an opinion on this delightful family, because the last time I talked of scroungers I was treated disgracefully by someone on here, who thought that I was having a go at her.

But,the words Rusty Knife and testacles come to mind.

Thanks for explanation Rose. I wrongly assumed that mum or dad were saying they were unfit to work. Sorry for jumping to the wrong conclusion

Suzanne Report 16 Apr 2010 21:53

what mum is saying is that she wants 14 children, and if the state is going to pay for them then she will carry on having them..her husband is not an uneducated man ,he has given up a very well paid job ,because he can get more from benefits.has i have said in earlier posts, i also live in anglesey(about 5 miles from these people) have four children ,they all work full time but all still live at home because they cant afford private renting which starts at around £700pm not inclusive of rates.my eldest daughter has epilepsy and mild learning problems but she has worked since she left collage 10yrs ago and never asked for anything...why are we all flogging our selves to death by working, when we could have a life of luxury on £42 grand a yr?.x

Good Luck to the family ! At least they are a family !I'd rather support them, than support the "Teenage Pregnancy dilemma".

This family...like many other's across the country [although, not all in the news] are not breaking any laws.

If the MP's and Civil servant's can get the financial benefit's of our grossly mismanaged monies...then why not ordinary folk.

Unlike many of our MP's [least we forget]..this family have'nt committed fraud.

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 17 Apr 2010 22:11

im not knocking benefits,we all know that a lot of people need benefits through no fault of there own,but when an educated man gives up a good job in admin to go on the dole and sit on his backside all day,it really makes me see red,a lot of family men have just lost their jobs here when the alluminium plant closed down and also 200 jobs have just gone in a local meat factory.these men would have done anything to keep there jobs.and this man goes to the papers boasting about how he drives a merc people carrier and gets 42,000 a year in benefits, talk about rubbing their noses in it.

I think this dismay at how easy it is to "live off the state" is shared by many in this country.

We currently have 3 Main Candidates to take over the running of the country....if any one of them would promise to deal with freeloading families like this one, and insure that people who went out to work and payed in to our Tax and National Insurance Sysytem would be better off...i`m sure they`d get a lot more votes....

Please note, I am not having a go at everyone on any sort of benefits......there are many people out there who have to claim benefits because of the situation they find themselves in, and probably hate every moment of it......

But thats what benefits should be, a stop gap in your hour of need, till hopefullly you can get back on your feet..........Not a way of life.... and certainly not a meal ticket to produce as many children as you want at the Tax Payers expense.
