had to google this because I'd never heard of it Coventry is a beautiful city and its Catherdral among the most impressive in England heres the google bit ~

COVENTRY CASTLE

Only one part of this 11th century castle, the 12th century Caesar's Tower, still exists and is now a part of St Mary's Guildhall. The rest of the site has been built over. It is thought that the tower may have been part of the gatehouse.

Swansell Gate, previously Prior Gate, is part of the Coventry city walls built in the 14th and 15th centuries. The walls were three miles in length, and during the Civil War were first strengthened and then in 1662 were partially destroyed. Most of the gates were demolished in the 18th century to improve traffic flow. Swansell Gate was later converted into a house and was restored in 1932.

thank you for your imput

Why just castles, if you go to Lincoln you get a castle, a cathederal and a pretty town. Then theres always York Minster.

As already mentioned, Conwy Castle is a must.

Best time to come this year especially if you have the children in tow is during the River Festival, Saturday 15th August is Quay Day, loads to keep the kids amused. The River Festival is on between 15th and 16th August.

My favourite place..... the castle is at the end of my street. x

Caernarfon Castle is just a 40 minute(ish) bys ride away.

If you are limited to travelling by train that surely narrows it down a bit for you? How about Gloucester cathedral where part of H Potter was filmed. has anyone mentioned Cardiff Castle?
