Sue, I think your Mum is just being your Mum. She doesn't want you to be stressed from looking after the littlies.

I would probably say the same thing to my daughter if she did what you did - but then, I am always ready to do the same thing for her, if she wants me to. I have had the grandchildren for a weekend and loved doing it - but never longer than that, although I minded the first two from baby to 18mths - five days a week - and loved every minute of it. However, I was able to put them down for a sleep during the day - sometimes two sleeps - and that makes a difference!

OK call me addicted, but I couldn't help just popping back on to say Hi and goodbye to Sue and Linda!

I thought I might be getting away with it Sue. No-one else has said anything. That makes me feel young, just thinking about it.

I'll try wrapping the bananas in foil and see how that goes. I'm right out of them again because I bought them from the supermarket this week, so only bought a few. My diet calls for one per day on high fibre cereal, so it must be time for a trip to the fruit market. I buy too much of everything when I go there - it all looks so nice.

I think it is odd that everyone knows the cost of things, I have no idea how much the bananas I buy are, but then I have no idea how much anything costs, I just buy what I need.

Berona I guess I know mum is just being protective of me. I should say that we didn't have the children constantly for the week. Last Sunday their father had them for the day and then they were at daycare on Tuesday and Wednesday. Their other grandmother picks them up on Tuesdays as that is the day their mum works so we decided to keep them to that routine. So we did have a break at times.

Linda, you are going to be in soooo much trouble if Berona get's hold of you:-))

Carole I meant to ask if your boy has come to terms with having a job. Our youngest used to breeze through life when he was in his late teens/early 20's. He thought it would all be handed to him on a plate. If he didn't like his job he would leave it before getting another. Then he suddenly grew up. Now he's settled in a decent job, has a nice new car and although he's still living at home he is independant and is hardly here.

Hello Pat. Didn't see you there. Most of them have gone off and left us. I don't normally stay on for long but my DVD recorder seems to have died, so I have to watch The Bill instead of record it. I normally do my transcribing at night and pop into these boards in between pages, but I just have time to do one page before The Bill starts, so I have to be off, too.

Hope you are back with us when we come on again in the morning. You can stay up for an extra hour tonight, can't you? Our 8am will be your 9pm!

My OH is the one who eats the bananas so he keeps an eye on the price. He likes them when they are still a bit green around the gills. So once one or two which are perfectly edible but are too yellow I am called upon to make banana bread.

I tried going back through the threads but I was so far behind I gave up. Though I did search for piece from Linda about Nigella Lawson - I enjoyed that and must show it to my daughters. She is a bit of a favourite here - turns up on the TV regularly and her very expensive cookbooks sell well. Her cookware is way too pricey for me - but seems to do well.

Twenty past eleven (night time) here and I finally got back to the computer for a few minutes. I only popped in earlier as I had been trying to do some NZ research for one of the members. Think I found who she was looking for in Australia - he served with the NSW Mounted Rifles in the Boer War, so have given her some avenues to follow up on.

Yes, my son has accepted the job my OH has found for him, we will see how he goes and hopefully as he matures, he will eventually decide for himself what he intends to do with the rest of his life.

I hope that your son does stick to the job Carol, they can be troublesome as young adults, but manage to grow up in the end.

Nigella is so funny on her cookery programmes, I don't know how she gets away with sticking her fingers in things and licking them all of the time. We have a impersonator called Ronni Ancona who does a brilliant take off of her. She emphasises all the mannerisms in a naughty sexy way. I can't take the real Nigella seriously when I see her now.

Speaking of cooking the house smells wonderful at the moment because I have a large pan of tomato and basil pasta sauce on the go. I make lots of it and freeze it, the basil smells wonderful while it is cooking.

Spaghetti is one of my favourite foods.
Last night I had some spaghetti with Pesto Sauce and Parmesan chesse.

There I have fourteen batches of my tomato and basil pasta source cooling down and waiting to go in the freezer, I am going to have to have a good sort out in order to fit them in I have just worked the cost out and it comes in at 77p a portion, far cheaper than the jars. I also use it as a base for lots of recipes like meatballs in sauce,any thing which can use a tomato sauce really.

Tec, the only thing likely to go berserk on this thread is likely to be me because to use a technical term, OH is "doing my head in"

He has a habit of leaving things he wants to take upstairs, just on the bottom of the stairs, instead of doing a proper job and putting them away immediately. I used to move them, but on a point of principal,now just walk over them. Earlier this week, his small plastic cover containing his gym pass and free bus pass, was there. When it eventually disappeared, I assumed that he had finally put it away. It seems not because he has spent half the day turning the house upside down looking for it. He can't find it anywhere, I have even joined in the hunt, mainly to stop him messing up all the drawers as he rifles through them, but it is no where to be seen.

As for your OH, well he sounds like me, he's a man, we can't help it. I blame our mothers, who probably walked around behind us for years picking things up.

Yes I did walk behind my son for years when I come to think of it. That reminds me of them walking through a room full of toys when they were little. My daughter would pick her way daintily between them and my son would manage to stand on every single one of them.

Linda my OH has a habit of deciding to sort out a drawer or cupboard just after I've finished tidying up. He swears he'll put everything back but he doesn't always finish the job and I'm left with a pile of "throw aways" and stuff to be put elsewhere. He does eventually get rid of the stuff but in the meantime it looks so untidy. My son is a "I'll do it later" kinda guy:-)) This has caused some heated discussion at times. My other son has been in the army since he was 18 and is very neat and tidy - and a great ironer. I love staying at his house:-))

My fellows are out playing golf - they left just after 6:30. So the house is lovely and quiet. I'm thinking I might go down to the local market but I'm scared of what I may buy. I always seem to come home with books, plants and china cups and saucers. At the moment I have about 12 books to read and am plowing through them very slowly.

You are as bad as I am with books. It has got to the stage where I have banned myself my buying anymore books. Last week I felt like buying a book so I wen t to the library instead. Library books don't count because I have to take them back!
