just as l type my last post you beat me to Alice's marriage ha ha !!
she is the older sister of Winnifred my grandmother l wasnt sure if uncle meant he was a frenchman or his name was French lol so how can l find any of her children or any others from the other siblings as l have usually looked on the census but obviously cant do that with later offspring??

its not that l minded you seeing the tree Christine especially as you are helping me l was just worried that what there is of it was freely available for all to see because l should have ticked or untacked something l missed lol, if l could just get the darn thing to print off what l have so far then it would encourage me to add to it but all l get is a blank page print preview with a small coloured square in the top right hand corner of it??
l did email G.R. but they just said to restart my computer which did no good at all :-( maybe l will have to invest in one of those family tree progs that you install on the computer.
l have now found a marriage for Clara Hartland to a Cleave oct-dec 1921 but nothing for Alice yet.

How do they fit in?

Do not worry. I have not seen your tree. What I have done is the search trees I described earlier. Because I know the names you should have on your tree I searched for some of them to look for matches. You did state you wanted to find come living relatives. Try it and you will see all that I could see. If you do want to find matches I suggest you do make up your tree. You will then be able to find matches. It also makes it clearer.

Christine l apologise for not mentioning all the census that have been covered but l thought that putting up the information found so far would be enough. l had not been taken back any further than the names etc that l mentioned at the beginning of this thread.
you mention about my family tree and that l have added some but not all?? l thought people had to request permission to view other peoples trees? is mine veiwable by anyone?
l have added some names to the tree but stopped because l am unable to print the tree off and l saw no point continueing with a tree that l couldnt print off .
l have now got some information from uncle albeit a little jumbled bless him, he said something about Alice Hartland (born abt 1899) married someone called Bob and either he was french or his surname was French and Clara married someone called Cleave.
l have found Martha Ellen Wells death jul-sept 1936 1c 70 and marriage in 1896 but cant locate her birth? nor the birth of Esther Ferris or hubby James Ferris.
l have found a possible marriage for Mary A Ferris oct-dec 1874 but cant figure who the groom was, have also found the possible marriage for Hannah Wells (born 1878) 1898 apr-jun 1b 779 again not sure of groom, l get so confused with these multiple listing of 4 or more people all listed with same ref number??

You have been given help on another site that took you back further. I know you want to find descendants but you need the wider picture to find them. I spent yesterday checking census info that you had already been given.


OK The next stage for you will be to enter your details onto a tree. You have added some but not all.

Then look at the green bar at the top of this page. Click on search trees and a search field comes up. enter yournames with different search parameters.
Remenber I may have John Smith in my tree but I may not know his year of birth and estimate. I may know his place of birth or a county of birth. Sometimes I just enter a surname and time frame.On a quick look I think you may have some matches that will connect to living relatives. You can then contact others with the name in their trees
Alternatively build your tree and. When you put your cursor over a persons name it will say record matches and tree matches. Click on tree matches and a screen will appear with the option of contacting that way.

wow thanks christine we seem to be making real progress, bit confused over the Bastions but will check the marriage cert first, couldnt seem to find them on the census anywhere to see of any siblings.

Wendy, I think the Wells births Christine found refer to children born with the surname Wells who had a mother with the surname Ferris - hope that makes sense.

Sometimes the records do look a little confusing when they're typed out but after c.1912 all births on the index have the mother's maiden name noted.
